Unfortunately, I don't have the opportunity to draw much right now, but I really want to participate in the week of my favorite ship. So I'm sharing a small spoiler from the comic that I'm slowly continuing to draw

**Coffee Shop AU**
Short story // Pursuing Eachother
Alejandro and Rudy
⬇️Start⬇️
Rain hammed down against the outside of the coffee shop. It was unexpected really, just moments ago it was cloudy with a few beams of light poking through the cloud cover.
Alejandro paid no mind to the rain outside, it was getting later into his shift and he still had a few hours. He preferred working the night shift, not many people stopped by, all except one regular. If anything they should have been there soon, if not already. Maybe they had changed their mind due to the rain.
Pacing and cleaning mugs that's were already cleaned, Alejandro watched the double doors. Barely able to see through them now as rain pattered against the sides.
Another hour had passed and Alejandro had served the few stranglers through out the evening.
His mind wandered as he swept behind the counter only to be broken by the sound of the shop bell once more. He didn't even look up to greet the person, "Still raining hard, hmm?"
The voice that responded nearly made Alejandro stumble.
"Dios mío, came out of no where. You know me l can't be caught in the rain." Rudy replied shaking off his coat and tucking the umbrella away by the coffee shop door.
"Is that so?" Alejandro responded setting his things aside. His eyes looked up to meet Rudy's. He could stare at this man all day, raindrops glittering across the jacket he wore. Rudy's eyes seemed to smile at him as he made his way to the counter.
"It is so, I don't mind the rain when it not pouring down on me."
Alejandro felt his heart swell and his cheeks grown red, his body moved without hesitation, maybe even against his will. Stepping around the counter to meet Rudy.
"Well then you can't leave.." Was all Alejandro could get to leave his mouth.
"That so.?" Rudy replied breathlessly, using Alejandro's own words against him. Rudy's eyes tracking the other man as he moved closer. Rudy's cheeks flushing red as well, a quickness to his breath.
"Yes, because sugar melts." Ale replied coolly, reaching up to cup Rudy's face gently into his palm.
Without another beat between them, Rudy leaned against the other man's hand. Relishing the attention, his eyes fluttering shut for just a moment. Feeling Alejandro's heart beat through the palm of his hand.
"How long have you been holding onto that one for?" Rudy whispered.
"Ever since I saw you the first time you walked in. I've wanted to taste those sweet lips of yours. Run my fingers through your hair and hold you close." Alejandro explained his heart felt as it would beat out of his chest. He rocked forward on his feet ever so slightly.
"Can't keep you away with that sweet tooth of yours.." Rudy finally replied his eyes blinking open to meet Alejandro's.
"Never." Was a breathless response from Alejandro as his free hand found Rudy's waist, leaning him back against the counter.
Rain pattering outside. Lightning lit up the shop and thunder rolled, giving Alejandro that invigorating feeling he needed. His lips met Rudy's. He practically melted into the kiss as Rudy's hands found their place on Alejandro's hips.
Their lips moved against the others, finding their rhythm.
Rudy pulled back for just a moment, "Finalmente." Without another word Rudy tugged at Alejandro's belt loops and kissed him back.
Alejandro gasped in surprise to the sudden words. His hand gripping Rudy's hip his other thumbed over the side of the other man's face.
/Finally/
The rain paid no mind to the two, continuing to batter down the side of the window. Lightning danced across the scene through the glass, as if sparks were emitting from the kiss.
It seemed Alejandro found something sweeter than sugar.

End~ ✨

pennies in payment (AleRudy Week 2024)
Day 02 - Reminded me of you, Mer AU, Pre-Relationship. Mer Alejandro x Rodolfo
“Alright.” Rodolfo reclines back into the single bench seat of the small research boat he’d borrowed for the afternoon. There isn’t enough space to go anywhere except backwards, a wall of monitoring equipment on his left that idles cycles through an assortment of measurements and the unmoving body to his right. So, he lets himself stretch out, kicks his reinforced boots up onto the hulking carcass of a monitor that hasn’t been used in decades, and closes his eyes.
Won’t take too long.
There’s a flicker of motion against his hip, the denim damp and stiff with salt spray, wandering fingers moving up to his pocket. Rodolfo keeps his eyes closed, unable to bite back a grin. He sinks his teeth into his cheek instead, his stomach taut as he tries to keep his breathing even. There hadn’t been a workplace training module for a situation like this so he had needed to learn on the job, and learn quickly he did. He is only slightly biassed, after all.
Beneath him, the boat sways, the gentle slap of the water against one side barely audible beneath the second louder impact just beneath him. The vibration burrows into Rodolfo’s bones, a tempo of a second heartbeat born from intense focus. He cracks one eye open, blinking in the sudden wash of sunshine before his vision can adjust.
There’s a creature from the depths of the ocean leaning over him.
Rodolfo could work in his current field his entire life and there would still be a moment of instability, of the world he had grown up in rewriting itself before his eyes to include so much more than he had ever thought possible. He’d spent so much time with his gaze turned towards the sky that he hadn’t ever thought to look at the ocean beneath his feet until recently.
The Mer digging through his pocket pauses, his gaze shifting to study Rodolfo’s face with an audible wet click. Two sets of eyelids flicker closed, an almost milky sheen settling over the man’s dark eyes before the lower lid retracts once more, and Rodolfo doesn’t move, barely breathing. He wants to know.
Alejandro’s lip curls into a smile or as close as he will get. The structure of his face is humanoid enough at a glance, two eyes, a bridge where a nose should be, a mouth, dark fronds over his skull that fan out in the water and cling haphazardly when he’s clambering into Rodolfo’s boat, or the tank they use for medical checkups, or into any spare space next to Rodolfo on any given beach. But Alejandro isn’t human. His mouth is set low on his face, his jaw hinged to swing wide at a moment’s notice, and his teeth are sharp and curved and many. There’s nothing to his nose except the assumption of it, the structure beneath bone instead of cartilage over an empty space, and his ears are entirely internal with the outward protrusions decorative as best as they had been able to tell.
Inside Rodolfo’s pocket, webbed fingers press against cloth, Alejandro’s claws a suggestion against the line of his hip before he retreats.
“You brought me a present,” Alejandro says, his tail knocking against the bottom of the boat once more. It’s stronger now, the boat swaying violently, and Rodolfo jerks upright to avoid the wash of seawater pooling over the seat. It doesn’t help.
Rodolfo swipes a hand over his soaking curls, his tongue flat against his bottom lip as salt water runs over the curve of his cheek. If he had been entertaining the idea of a nap earlier, the chance has fled the country from him now. “I brought you a present,” he confirms, shaking his hands to try and dislodge some of the water. “And you soaked me.”
“We match now,” Alejandro says. There’s no natural cadence to his voice, the inflections learnt and applied through as much careful study as Rodolfo is taking of him. Alejandro grins again, wider this time. New teeth cluster on one side of his gums, three of them just pressed above the surface.
Rodolfo huffs out a laugh, dropping his feet from the monitor. There’s barely enough space in the boat for himself, let alone the Mer who is slightly shorter than Rodolfo but broader in the shoulders, the span of his tail. Alejandro drapes himself over Rodolfo regardless, the defined muscles in his stomach twitching beneath Rodolfo’s palms as he tries to stop Alejandro. It’s a half-hearted effort — the Mer will be on Rodolfo’s lap because he wants to be, no use trying to argue with him about it — and Rodolfo settles for looping his arms around the other man’s waist.
A low rumble echoes from Alejandro, his reflection distorted in the monitor screens when Rodolfo tips his gaze over to check, but the Mer’s eyes are half-lidded, his mouth beginning to slacken at the edges. His hand is curled into a tight fist, the golden hue of his skin light beneath the pressure of his grip, and Rodolfo hides his grin in the salt-soaked expanse of Alejandro’s spine.
Not a bad trade for the sake of a few shiny coins.
Rodolfo breathes in the tang of the sea, an undercurrent of something metallic clinging to Alejandro’s skin, and watches the sunlight flicker off the surface of the waves, refracting from scales that shine just as bright.
No, not a bad trade at all.
