Interlude (Max & Cat at the radio station)
“Stay here,” Supergirl had said.
Max knew it couldn’t be good, not with the view out the window that revealed Alex Danvers - no doubt under Myriad’s influence - standing in the street, glowing a threatening shade of green. 
But there was nothing for him and Cat to do but continue the work of restoring enough of the old TV station. Either Supergirl would broadcast her message - Max still wasn’t convinced “hope” was nearly enough - or he would drop the kryptonite bomb on National City. 
He didn’t want to kill Kara Danvers, or her cousin. But Earth had bigger problems.
He meant what he said. He and the kryptonian were more alike than she realized. Defined by loss, defined by action instead of waiting for the authorities. The only difference was her major character flaw - her damn “hope” was rubbing off on him.
He turned to Cat, as she loaded a VTR, before turning back to continue her work on the transmitter equipment. Quick, efficient, clever as always, he thought. There’s just no way… “You know, right?”
“Know what?” Cat asked, her voice laced with a pseudo-boredom that Max knew not to believe.
“You know exactly where your assistant is right now.”
Cat stilled briefly, a small smile tugging at the corner of her lips, before she turned back to verify the transmitter impedance. “Nothing wrong with having a hobby, Max.”
Max laughed. I guess she’s rubbing off on Cat, too, he thought, before getting back to work.
