Elden Ring - Church of the Eclipse and the Pouring of Water
Tumblr media
Being always on the look out for the environment staged to show off little scenes with 3D perspective, I noted this one in the Church of the Eclipse where the statue can be made to look like it is pouring out a soul as a stream of water onto the head of the burned body below.
The actual item picked up here is the Eclipse Shotel. Which is accompanied by a ghost with the dialogue:
"... Ohh great sun! Frigid sun of Sol! Surrender yourself to the eclipse! Grant life to the soulless bones!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eclipse Shotel Storied sword and treasure of Castle Sol that depicts an eclipsed sun drained of color. One of the legendary armaments. In Sol, the sight of an eclipse inspires a dreadful awe, preventing an onlooker from averting his gaze. Unique Skill : Death FlareSet the lusterless sun ablaze with the Prince of Death's flames, inflicting the death ailment upon foes. Follow up with an additional input to bring down the armament, triggering an explosion.
In fact, the imagery of both young and older women pouring water is also all over the exterior of the Church of the Eclipse:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Interestingly, only the older women are covered in icicles, including the water pouring out from their jars:
Tumblr media
Which is interesting in the way that the icicles of frozen water echo the motif on the eclipse banners of liquid pouring from the eclipsed sun:
Tumblr media
Also while I was browsing photos anyways I noticed this little set up. A corpse holding Thawfrost Boluses has his body angled towards a locked door which is directly blocking the "Church of the Eclipse" site of grace. His head is angled slightly as if looking at the eclipse banner just inside the doorway....or up on the cliff in the distance at that one prominent gravestone that stands above a Tibia Mariner.

As someone who loves animated tv and movies I can say with certainty that the way arcane uses micro expression is so special.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The animation of expressions is simplified in most media for obvious reasons but when arcane animates expression they seem to actually take advantage of the ability to animate each frame to really detail these micro expressions.
They add so much depth to the characters and the story in my opinion. Allowing for the audience to see the conflicting and underlying thoughts and emotions behind a characters actions.
Movement in the ears, eyebrows, lips, jaw, flickering of the eyes or eyelids. Even the way a movement can be faster or slower, halting or assured. All of it tells the story of what the character is going through or thinking better than words can.
This is why I don’t really think much about the arguments that revolve around “they never explicitly talked about this, or apologized, or gave forgiveness etc” cause it’s the little things arcane shows visually like these micro expressions which paint a much more complex picture that doesn’t need words to communicate.

There is a particular texture used at the Haligtree that includes an owl. Apparently some people tried to decode the image in relation to Malenia and Miquella and got discouraged when they found out that it is a stock asset.
However, I don't think it matters so much where the asset came from if it has thematic significance. This imagery suggests that it is the story of Medusa. As the story goes, the god Neptune (finned face on top) assaulted Medusa in the temple of Minerva (owl in middle), and Minerva punished Medusa by turning her beautiful hair into snakes (bottom figure).
Tumblr media
St. Trina's torch similarly depicts a figure with Medusa-like hair, which neatly ties back into the slumbering egg that the owl sits on. Taking into account the role of Minerva in the story, I doubt that the owl has the best interest of St. Trina in mind.
Tumblr media
The owls seem to represent the surveillance system of the Golden Order during the nighttime hours. They hold on to the slumbering eggs not to protect them, but to ensure that they never hatch. Something notable being that these eggs have approximately the same colour and texture as the moon.
These references to Medusa also share a theme that it is she who is made of stone rather than petrifying other people. To access Mirage Rise there is an owl sitting with its back to the sigil disguised as a "stone" and a small tree also standing directly between them. This is all connected to the wisdom of stone and wisdom of turtles but those are other discussions.
Miquella Theory: Owls
Okay so I realize this is a bit farfechted but hear me out 😂
So in the Lands Between there are Owls and these Owls drop the slumbering egg item, which is a prized item that symbolizes the most sublime slumber.
Tumblr media
So already these birds have a connection to St. Trina/Miquella 🤔
But what also makes them hands down the most bizarre non-hostile animals in the game is because unlike every other animal, they are like completely chill with you.
Tumblr media
Like seriously you can literally be touching them and they'll just sit there unbothered lol And to make it even funnier they'll actually look at you, and follow you with their head! Like you could be behind them and they'll turn their head 180 degrees to watch you!
But that's not the most bizarre thing: What's most bizarre is that at night their eyes glow gold
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I already know about the mechanic where an enemy can drop more runes if they have glowing eyes but this is completely different! I've already tested it out, killing the owls during the day and night to see if there is a difference(and i felt bad doing it lol) but there was absolutely no change in the amount of runes I got:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So then to summarize:
These owls have a connection with St. Trina based on the Slumbering Egg they drop
They are non-hostile and even watch you when you get close
Their eyes glow a mysterious gold when nightfalls
What I'm thinking here is perhaps Miquella has a connection to the Owls? Owls traditionally represent wisdom and Malenia is quoted saying that Miquella "Possesses the wisdom of a God."
And so, my theory is that perhaps the golden glow in their eyes is in-fact Miquella, watching the Lands Between through the eyes of the owls while they slumber 🤔

A normal post a about Kevin Barnes from Poppy Playtime.
Tumblr media
I genuinely feel so bad for Kevin…
Like that was a kid who clearly had a lot of issues from the start, instead of getting the help he needed all that happened was him being marked off as a „problem child“.
And then he was turned into a toy:/
Read more of my full thoughts and a sorta character analysis/ramblings below cut!
Like honestly no wonder he is seething if he wasn’t troubled before he definitely is now-
Obviously he has no trust in anyone, almost every adult he ever knew screwed him over in some way, hell even the kids he shares a body with would go against what he would do.
Tumblr media
(Great example: When Doey chases us in his monster form, it's the arms of Matthew and Jack that are trying to keep his mouth from biting us, Kevin's are trying to grab for us.)
He was hurt over and over again, clearly he wasn’t aggressive just because he wanted to be but because this was his only way of making sure he wouldn’t get hurt.
It was how he had a semblance of control, a sense of protection.
But of course the irony is: That coping mechanism brought him more pain, it was what got him killed.
Sure, maybe he could've just "calmed down", but why would he? He was hurt again, he lost everything AGAIN.
All because he listened to their judgement over his own. Kevin could've killed the player and Poppy on sight, clearly his emotions easily overpowered the other two, but he didn't.
Instead he agreed to trust them as well.
He was still willing to do that, surely if he were just a mindless monster he wouldn't be.
And you know what? I believe he blames himself just as much if not more for what happened than he blames us and Poppy and projects it tenfold.
Because maybe, JUST MAYBE-
If he didn't allow himself to trust again, then everyone would still be alive.
But he did...now see what that got him?
In his mind he's proven right.
So what's an emotionally unstable child to do? After being hurt AGAIN?
That's right.
He lashes out at the first thing he sees that had something to do with his pain:
Us.
Is he in the right? Hell nah- bro we didn't mean for that to happen! But do you seriously think this kid is thinking rationally right now??? NO! He is seeing red right now, he is in fight mode! All emotions and must I reiterate that the only way he knows how to express them is through anger and violence?
There is NO reasoning with wrath try as you might! And that hurts because yeah maybe you could've dealt with that if he was still a gradeschooler but he isn't! He is 900 pounds of living dough with a thirst for blood!
It's either our life or his now. And we already know what the outcome of that is.
Honestly I think it's better that we only hear Matthew and Jack apologise for what happened, I do not think Kevin would even if he did feel bad for what he had done.
Because why would someone who has been scorned so many times be vulnerable all of the sudden? When his main character trait is biting at those who bark at him?Why would all that rage suddenly disappear? If anything the stress of dying only causes him to lash out more.
You don't need an apology from him to feel bad for him.
He is hurting anyone with two eyes can see that and for what it's worth, I do believe deep down he knew what he was doing was wrong but it was too late for him to see any other alternatives and even if he didn't and thought he was right for doing what he did it doesn't take away from the fact that he was fucked over by life.
Kevin is not the worst part of Doey, he is just a part of him.
And that part is not just a violent hunk of playdough.
It’s a scared, confused little boy that cared just as much about every toy in safe haven as his other two components did.
Because if he didn’t why would he get so angry about their death?
Anyway thanks for coming to my ted talk-
Tumblr media
Also feel free to agree or disagree with my take, those are just my thoughts so let me hear yours, I like discussions:}
For those interested here are some Jack thoughts and Matthew!:D

Tumblr media
Alrighty, let's tackle the second part of this request!
Here's a tuto on how to draw the nightmare that is Azul's hair!
Tumblr media
First, a few observations.
Contrary to other characters like Jamil, Riddle, or Sebek, Azul's hair doesn't immediately tell you everything about his personality. For someone as calculating and (trying to be) mature as Azul, you'd expect his hair to be slick and and each strand to be at it's proper place.
It's the contrary here. Azul has wavy, almost curly hair that is completely all over the place.
It's because that's his own struggle that is shown here. Azul has always fought against himself, being his octopus nature, his weight, or even his hair that won't stick down. That boy is just cursed to forever have something about himself that doesn't fit his aesthetic.
(Personally whenever I look at Azul upside down, I really feel like it'd be the kind of hair for a cool extroverted guy in an Idol gacha game)
Tumblr media
Step 1. Hairline
Azul has a simple round hairline so simply draw an arch.
Step 2. Hair root
Azul's hair all comes from a point right above the left side of his left iris, so I would suggest you draw Azul's face (and even glasses) first.
Tumblr media
Step 3. Bangs
Azul has two strands that fall between his eyes, just a bit to the right. Start from the root point you placed earlier, and draw two wavy lines intersecting. The first will stop at the upper rim of his glasses, above his right iris area. The second will stop at the lower rim of his glasses, below his right iris area.
All of Azul's hair will be made with soft waves that fork back up, so train yourself to do that move flowingly. You're not done using it.
Step 4. Front hair 1
There are two strands that seem closer to us and frame the other bangs, so let's draw them first. In my example I drew the lower strand a bit too high, it should come right above Azul's right eye. The upper one thought will almost be horizontal. Both of those will reach the area above the right ear.
Once more, waves.
Tumblr media
Step 5. Front hair 2
Now the two strands between the last two. They will go further than the ear.
Step 6. Side strand
Azul's tentacle-like strand. It is composed by the only strand of hair that forks towards his face, instead of outward. It goes around the eye and reaches lower than the middle strand.
The second part is the actual tentacle. It hides the ear entirely and reaches down to Azul's chin level.
Still, always a wave that forks outward.
Tumblr media
Step 7. Ahoge
Yup. "Mature" and calculating Azul has an ahoge. That might be the only part of his hair that does indeed reflect his personality. Azul can be quite immature and stupid at times. (For those who don't know, "ahoge" literally means "stupid hair" and it's usually used on stupid or immature characters)
Simply make it start at the root point. It's about the size of Azul's hairline to eyes, but globally just make it go up above where the rest of his hair would go.
Step 8. Right side
That is the part that people (even Yana if we trust the notes she made) struggle with. There is a volume here that can't be too fluffy or not big enough. It's actually just the size of half his face. Put your mark and do your best to fill it without going further.
From there, draw about 4 or 5 waves. Connecting each tip should make an arch, with the further point being the strands at Azul's eye level.
Tumblr media
Step 9. Behind the ear
The only part of Azul's hair that is well groomed is those few strands of hair, that look like they were pushed behind his ear. This is also the only part (alongside the ahoge) that isn't made using a wave.
Step 10. Left side
And we're back to drawing waves, this time forking left. There is about 3 waves to do. These strands won't be as fluffy as the right side, sticking closer to the skull, but still add some volume. Wavy/curly hair just can't stick to the skull (I'd know it *sigh*)
Tumblr media
Step 11. Details
Time to check your proportions, add a few lines within the strands, add more lines at the roots to show that his hair go from here.
Tumblr media
Finished!
So. Idol!Azul when? (One day. One day I'll do that Housewarden Idol AU)
(Last note: he does have an undercut. I'll forever go crazy about Azul of all people having a fuckboi (/affectionate) haircut)

woe cwilbur be upon ye. as promised here are my designs for every cwil era/stage/what have you + my reasons behind each design. design breakdown will be under the read more :>
as a disclaimer going forward: these designs are heavily informed by my own headcanons (namely the nature spirit headcanon, which i will only briefly explain here- if you want more of a background on that here's where I first shared the hc and explained it a bit) i'll be honest idk how much of these hcs/analysis abides by canon? so if you prefer to closely abide by canon this may not be for you. having said that, let's get into this. So one question that may initially come to mind when looking over this is "Why a nature spirit?" which is a reasonable question all things considered. I've already gone over the Watsonian explanation in the past, so instead I'll cover the Doylist take- which is more interesting as it pertains to these designs. Wilbur, as I see her, is a character that has many faces- she warps and changes to embody the view of herself she sees as necessary for the situation, whether that be the revolutionary or the villain. Simultaneously he has this core that's deeply eccentric and often difficult for the characters around him to grasp- this can come in the form of benign weirdness to the struggles with mental illness we see him go through throughout his various arcs. There's this push and pull between the person they want to portray and who they are fundamentally that's always at play.
Them being a nature spirit embodies this to an extreme. As a nature spirit their physical form is informed by their self perception (the one that's warped by the role they feel they need to take) and their own mental state, both aspects of the character that are foundational.
Another question that may arise upon reading all of this is "Why not just make him a shapeshifter?" which is also a valid question. Truthfully this one is rooted heavily in my own ideas of the character, so you'll have to take that with a grain of salt. I am, unfortunately, prone to making shit up /lh With that in mind however, the reason I choose nature spirit over shapeshifter is that, the way I interpret it, it's much more... animalistic? Let me explain: the way I tend to see shapeshifters portrayed is either a. having a base form that's relatively humanoid and then multiple other forms or b. having no base form but still presenting as generally humanoid. As a nature spirit Wilbur has a natural (ba-dum-tsss) tie to well... nature, and all that lives within it.
She's this manifestation of the wilderness whose form isn't even naturally human, yet she shapes herself into something presenting as such. As a nature spirit Wilbur occupies this weird nebulous space between human and beast, never fully embodying either. I find this incredibly interesting for a character that wants to feel and to be treated as human so badly, one that also clearly resents being seen as monstrous (despite leaning into that perception of themselves)
TLDR; Wilbur's 50 contradictions in a trenchcoat (literally) and being a nature spirit gives these contradictions/masks/ect. a physical manfiestation Now that we're 500+ words of analysis in, let me breakdown each individual stage :3 /lh
Pre-SMP + L'manburg
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The most "human" Wilbur ever gets here- technically these two are different designs/eras but they have similar design notes so I'm lumping them together here
During this stage of his life Wilbur has a fairly good handle on his shapeshifting and is consciously choosing to look more human
Small details like the fangs, pointed ears, claws, and pupils allude to an inhuman nature. I like to think there's something uncanny valley about them- they look human but the longer you look at them the more small discrepancies you notice
Both look relatively generic appearance wise, if you can't tell this was Wilbur's "I am a Normal Human Man era" but with slightly more gender /lh
Decided to stick Wilbur in a different outfit Pre-SMP than the actual skin most people reference, mostly because I thought it'd be fun. The trenchcoat follows her throughout her development
Lots of goofy ass patches and pins on the coat
I personally hc that Wilbur always has some sort of oversized clothes on because it's a bit like a security blanket for him, very grounding and all that- anyways that's what the trenchcoat is here
Limited notes on L'manburg era- main thing is the glasses; they got cracked in conflict and they just never bothered to fix em
Pogtopia
Tumblr media
As a result of stress (and personal perception) Wilbur lost control over his shifting entirely
Wilbur views their nature as inherently monstrous, thus when they think of themselves as monstrous or evil they lose most of their human appearance
Much taller in this form than usual, this reflects both how she feels she's perceived and how she perceives herself (monstrous, scary, inhuman, ect. ect.)
Their height also serves to emphasis the claustrophobic nature of the ravine and especially the button room
Eye color changes from brown to red, yet again another thing which reflects his self loathing
Coat is the same one worn pre-smp, just with some adjustments
Pins & patches removed from the jacket (my friend suggested it saying that he "ripped them out because they were too happy" and I find that mental image particularly silly so it stays)
Covered in stains, partially because the ravine is just. awful. and partially because this thing is not taking care of herself even a little bit
Lenses are even more cracked than they were during the revolution
Ghostbur
Tumblr media
This section has a lot less points then the others on account of Ghostbur being fairly self explanatory, but shhhhhh
Reverted to "base form" post death, form is extremely fluid as a ghost- she tends to shift depending on the topic of conversation or the person she's speaking with (Explain being: whenever she talks about "alivebur" she becomes more human)
Less of a note and more rambling: fox ghostbur is especially fun to me given the hatred Wilbur has for Ghostbur. Ghostbur physically reflecting the parts of Wilbur that they hate the most in themselves
For Wilbur their base form- just a normal widdle fox- represents vulnerability. It is quite literally a small, fuzzy animal with little means to defend itself and it is also the culmination of everything Wilbur is running from. Ghostbur embraces this form fully yet is seen as more palatable by the people around her than Wilbur ever was
Constantly leaking a jammy, blue substance from his eyes and the cut in his chest, yucky
Especially long sections of "fur" like their tail and the back of their neck are constantly "dripping" little wisps like rain
Post-Revival
Tumblr media
Post-revival his shifting is still fucked up (thank the mental illness for that) but he's got a slightly better handle on it, enough to look semi-human
Eyes have reverted back to brown but their lenses are tinted red anyways (often looks red)
The coat makes a comeback, edges are all fucked up from the explosion
That funky little overcoat/cloak/ect. got yoinked by Niki
Disheveled appearance meant to reflect her rancid ass mental state- namely the hair and the facial hair. Hair is grown out because she can't be bothered to cut it (you bet that shit is full of knots)
Nasty awful smeared eyeshadow as a treat <3 (I just think he deserves to be a little cunty yk?)
Got a little tired near the end here which is why the points got a bit sloppy, maybe I'll add more at a later date who knows. If you made it this far I hope you at least enjoyed reading all of this :>

Elden Ring - Coded Sword and Ciper Pata
Tumblr media
An analysis of these two weapons, in terms of what they seem to symbolically represent.
The script used for the swords is the same as in the Two Fingers Incantation symbol, but straightened instead of circular. The weapons seem to show that words have literal power in the Two Fingers faith. Two Fingers faithful believe that they are fated to see a specific narrative through to the end, thus why prophets are equipped with Two Finger Seals. The Two Fingers Incantations are associated with Deus Ex Machina effects like various types of healing (Heal, Lord's Aid, etc). The narrative defies the laws of physics, as seen by the way that the blades of the Coded Sword and Cipher Pata are able to pass through the physical barrier of a shield. The narrative of the Coded Sword is "set in stone" (as in pre-ordained) which is shown literally by the blade being set into a stone hilt.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Heal // Lord's Aid // Two Finger's Prayerbook
The Two Fingers Incantations are also associated with assassins like the Confessor (Assassin's Approach, Urgent Heal) because sometimes upholding a narrative that is not based in the logic of cause and effect involves a little bit of character assassination. The Cipher Pata are found on the ground floor of the Round Table Hold, across the hall from the Assassin's Prayer book and Crepus' Crossbow, which adds to the evidence that they are a tool of assassins. These blades are not set in stone because the Two Fingers use their assassins as course correction - unpredictable events threaten the narrative and the assassins need to be more flexible in their methods to ensure that the fated path is upheld.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Assassin's Approach // Urgent Heal // Assassin's Prayerbook
Shadows/darkness are also typically associated with the assassination aspect of the Two Fingers (Darkness, Shadow Bait), and this is reinforced by the standard "Pata" weapon being found in the Shadow Lands. The Two Fingers with their language of light are paradoxically associated with Shadows because the narrative being upheld by the Two Fingers is the mythic battle of light & darkness, good & evil, Saviors & Satans. This is in contradiction with the narrative of Elden Ring which demonstrably does not have a dualistic outcome as seen in the way that there are 6 possible endings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Darkness // Shadow Bait // Pata
As someone pointed out on this reddit post, the whetblades have text fragments on them written in this same Two Fingers script. Which means that they can be used as a lexicon to give some insight into what the code and cipher are saying. The text on the Cipher Pata corresponds to "Glintstone" and "Black", which are the blades associated with magic/cold affinity and poison/blood/occult affinities, respectively. The text on the Coded Sword corresponds to the sequence of "RedHot" "Glintstone" "Black" "Sanctified", which is a sequence replicated in the outer ring of the Two Fingers Incantation symbol.
Two further notes are that the standard Whetstone Knife from Gatefront Ruins also uses the sequence "Glintstone" and "Black" but rotated 180 degrees compared to the way that the words are written on the two blades, and also these two blades are translucent.

testing something:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Mikołaj Kopernik - a.k.a. the guy who developed the model of heliocentrism)
Different chins and noses on all of them, to be fair.
@heraldofcrow cursed me with realization that Shabriri and Micolash are REALLY similar. Not just in their fates, 'frenzy' shctick and what they did within the story, but even in frikin vibe and appearance
Tumblr media
Like, they have exact same type of tall cheek bones mfer face structure, the only difference is Mico's mouth being wider and ofc hairstyle. Also am I tripping or Shabriri doesn't have eyebrows either??
I mean I am glad that Fromsoft knows which themes and vibes work and bring them back dfhfhdssfg They do this all the time, but in this case I think it's really funny. Water and Fire evolutions of the same Pokemon.

SPAMTON NEO AND THE ADDISONS.
I'm gonna make deltarune chapter 3 and 4 fanart sometime soon cause they killed my wife and child but I'm just gonna fucking monologue about Spamton and The Addisons for 30 minutes real fast in the meantime kay? Kay.
Okay so I've seen tons of headcannons on how exactly Spamton is related to the Addisons. We know Spam was probably definitely an Addison at some point but then Mike bullshit made him like... y'know that.
A bunch of people make Spamton like, literal brothers with the other 4 colors or just make him like an unrelated coworker who they just know but my personal favorite not-very-talked about interpretation is this:
The Addisons are robots/computer programs/something that is manufactured for the sole purpose of selling products. Four of these Addisons just so happen to work in the same district and end up pooling funds and buying a house to roommate together in because they live in a city and it's just cheaper that way. Spamton then joins the house, upping the population to five.
They all end up stumbling into this begrudging roommates turned accidental close knit friend group situation that all of them refuse to acknowledge or admit to because Addisons were made to sell, not to form bonds.
So when Spamton finally becomes a big shot and subsequently falls off the face of the earth, all of them can kinda just feel it y'know.
His absence echoes throughout the house in a way none of them would have expected. There's an oddly placed fifth chair at the kitchen table that no one sits in anymore. Nobody needs to help anyone with getting plates or snacks down from the high cabinets because everyone in the house is the same height. Movie nights are much quieter now and all of them notice but none of them talk about it. Cause at the end of the day, Spamton was just a coworker. He was just a sorta shitty roommate that lived with them for around a year, barely paid his rent, and then vanished. He wasn't anything more than that.
Well, he shouldn't have been anything more than that. But he was. He was a lot more than that. But no one ever says that. Because Addisons don't do that.

The full scope of the King in Yellow reference is presented anthology-style across multiple games. There's the Xanthous King in Dark Souls where "Xanthous" means yellow. Therefore, literally a King in Yellow. Tall hat made of yellow wrappings is aesthetically similar to the Old Monk headgear in Demon's Souls. The bald headed man with yellow robes worn by the Old Monk himself resemble Midra's general aesthetic but less deteriorated. And the Frenzy Flame matches description of the effects of the Yellow Sign, so…

Dark Souls Remastered, DSIII, and original Demon's Souls versions

Old Monk and Midra
Tumblr media
Old Monk concept art. Note the conifer tree motif above the head is shown more clearly than the filigree in-game. It is an inverse to the branched root system embedded through Midra's skull.
Tumblr media
The yellow sign variously has effects of possession or mind control (Shabriri) and drives people to madness for seeing it (basically everyone afflicted with frenzy, especially the Lord of Frenzy Flame).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Compare the Yellow sign as depicted for "Call of Cthulhu" with the Frenzy Flame symbol
Tumblr media
From King in Yellow Wiki: "Full cover of The King in Yellow (1895, likely 2nd or 3rd edition)" Note spiral and flame motifs.
Tumblr media
While we're here anyways, familiar shape of hat and face covering to the illustration for the King in Yellow. This is the Altus Hermit Merchant wearing yellow. This merchant also sells a note with instructions on how to get to the sewers below the Capitol. It is a follow-up to "Note: The Lord of Frenzied Flame" found in the Frenzy Flame village way back in the Weeping Peninsula which advises to look beneath Leyndell.
I know I'm a crazy person but I have to wonder. I have to wonder if they made the madness stuff Yellow in Elden Ring on purpose.
Like. Obviously they did but the specific art direction. The Vibes. Is it an intentional reference to The King in Yellow or???
Like we know Hidetaka Miyazaki is familiar with cosmic horror (Bloodborne, parts of Dark Souls, etc). Lovecraft's work is popular in Japan to the point another powerhouse Japanese creator cites his work as an influence and inspiration (Junji Ito) and Gou Tanabe's manga renditions of Lovecraft's work are some of the best depictions of Mythos entities I've ever seen.
So. I have to wonder. And drive myself crazy in the process.

Also have this that was supposed to come with thr smilk design analysis thing aswell however didn't... pretend I'm super smart and know everything abt the French language and France and that I know what im talking abt here
I had to use Pinterest to find jester images because the MOMENT I tried finding ANY on GOOGLE I was IMMEDIATELY faced with AI "art" which PHYSICALLY makes me feel icky and disgusted and uncomfy and i have some strange genuine fear of looking at it or touching it so..
