Danny Phantom and the Riordanverse
I have some thoughts about a Shared World kind of crossover between Danny Phantom and Percy Jackson & the Olympians. I havenāt done a full rewatch of DP in ages, nor have a read outside the core 5 PJO books, the HOO books, the Kane Chronicles, Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, and about 2 and a half of the Trials of Apollo books, also been a while. Apologies for any inaccuracies but hey, fanon.
A Glitch In Time canonizes that the Infinite Realms and Material World were once one and the same, but a global war - waged by people who were naturally half ghost the way Danny and Vlad are - split the world in 2. All things regarding Pariah Dark, Iād say he was one of the major powers in this war.
Realms can range from a 10x10x10 room to entire islands with their own celestial bodies like Doraās kingdom and its sun. Technically we donāt know if the Far Frozen even has an End Point. Doors can lead to alternate timelines; Desiree, Ghost Writer and Clockwork are all able to warp reality, time included, and the Observant Council perceive time in at least 2 dimensions.
In the Riordanverse it is revealed in the few books of the Trials of Apollo that I read and remember that mortal belief from even a relatively small cult can elevate a mortal man to immortal status a la monsters and Gods. Apollo even muses about the way the Gods donāt want to acknowledge how dependent on mortals remembering them they are.
All of this considered, if you want DP to exist in the Riodanverse and even keep the lore of both, then the Realms/Planes/Worlds of the Gods - of Hellas, Kemet, the Ćsir and Vanir, the Heavenly Beauracracy, etcetera - are Realms connected to the Spirit World but managed to remain intersected with the Material World through the efforts of the Gods and the memories of Mortals.
The Duat could even be a layer of the Infinite Realms, frankly.
Danny states that his accident was a month ago as of Episode 1, Mystery Meat, which is set April 3rd, 2004. Based on the few concrete date indicators we get in Danny Phantom, the series takes place over 3 years. 4 if you count Claw of the Wild, but that means the trio stays Tiny all the way into Senior Year lol.
Prisoners of Love begins on May 18th, Fright Knight is a Halloween episode, and in Lucky in Love, theyāre at a waterpark, which only open in May at the earliest. The Fright Before Christmas is obviously set before and during Christmas and then Reality Trip is set at the beginning of Summer 2006.
In Urban Jungle, Tucker remarks that itās 90 degrees outside, which means itās either late May or early June since I do believe they Are in school at that point and iirc global warming hadnāt made it 90 in the midwest early in 2006. Claw of the Wild is an odd camping episode featuring Dannyās class, and I forget in episode details so if this was during school time it had to be during the spring since, again, they live relatively close to the Great Lakes, so itās gotta be during a naturally warm time. A Glitch In Time, therefore, is set in late spring or early summer of 2008.
Percy Jackson is 12 at the beginning of The Lightning Thief & 13 at the end Iirc since his birthday is August 12th. Either way, this is in 2005. Sea of Monsters and Titanās Curse are both set during 2006; Battle of the Labyrinth is in 2007, and iirc The Last Olympian is set next year during 2008 and Percy is 16.
Thereby when the Heroes of Olympus books begin in 2008-2009, Danny is 18 and either a senior or highschool graduate. This is a hilarious point in time for Percy to meet Danny, actually, or any of our protagonist crew, if you want to maintain canon for both.
I know most people donāt, in fact, care to keep up DP canon nearly this rigidly, so some other fun thoughts.
In Reality Trip, Freakshow acquires the Reality Gauntlet, and begins the summer (as this begins on a last day of school event Iād say probably even on the Solstice) of 2006 with a reality warping bang. Once he gets the gems, Freakshow transforms the whole world into his circus, until Danny tricks him and gets the glove back, fixing reality to exactly how it was before the change, wiping his identity from the memories of everyone save Tuck, Sam, & Jazz, and then destroyed the Reality Gauntlet in a single shot.
This, I imagine, would grab the attention of The Gods. Thatās if the Pariah Dark situation didnāt register to them, even. Considering Percy is 13 at the time and due to deal with the Sea of Monsters situation, the Kane siblings havenāt been recruited yet (I think) and Magnus is still just a homeless kid in Boston, I dunno if anyone from New Rome would be sent but the Gods of various pantheons may investigate directly or through minor gods/spirits.
The House of Life certainly wouldnāt approve of the Ghost Portals, Vlad, or possibly even Danny. Hell, Luke might actually be sent to recruit Danny or Vlad to the Titanās cause now that I think about it.
With the fact that Danny, Vlad, and Dan were destroying other timelines while smashing into them from sheer speed through the Spirit World during A Glitch In Time, Iād say Danny is at least a 6D being (existing in at least 4 dimensions of space and 2 of time.) If that doesnāt count him as a God, idk what would. Also during Infinite Realms, Vlad and Danny time travel to both ancient Rome during an event in the colosseum and ancient China at a monetary. If these are the same universe as Dannyās, then he and Vlad should have a myth or two regarding one another, which would also put them on the watch list for Olympus and the Bureaucracy of Heaven.
But hey, what do you think? Iām open to talk about this and wanna hear other peopleās thoughts and opinions.

Saturday Morning Vid Recs - Space and Robots
@tafkarfanfic asked me for vid recs that are similar to the following vids:
Dataās Dream by GayleF (Gayle) and TasheryS which premiered at Escapade in 1994 - made on a VCR!! - and was remastered by morgandawn in 2004. Definitely check out the Fanlore page about Dataās Dream. Star Trek + multi-source.
Starships by bironic. Multi-source. The history of Starships on Fanlore.
These two vids are iconic. Please check them out and learn about their history from the Fanlore page, it's a great look at some vidding history and culture. Amazing vids, do love. As for some recs. I love this kind of prompt. More vids like [this vid] is so much fun. I dug deep into my vid rec archives and brain and bookmarks. Iāve also crowdsourced some recs from the vidding discord. Thank you to @rukbat3, @sandalwoodbox, @fairestcat, @monkeyswithjetpacks, @grammarwoman for the reccing help! And everyone else I might have forgotten.

Doctor Who on Holiday by sisabet. Farscape, Battlestar Galactica and Doctor Who. A mashup vid of Luminosityās Sci-Fi Friday in a Blender. This vid inspired me so much. And I have 10 very intense ideas about how I would do my own remix of this vid if I were to make it right now. Fly Me To the Moon by thirdblindmouse. Multi-source. This vid has everything! Alien sex! Xenophilia! Zero-gravity sex! Mpreg!!! Because everyone knows this song is about space sex. Game Night in Space by garrideb. Multi-source. This vid!!!!! IS! SO! MUCH! FUN!! Game on! I started my Kamen Rider X Rewatch. I'm just finished episode 2 and damn; I forgot how deep they get with Keisuke off the back, you can see the pain he goes through struggling with not being human anymore. I love that he grows into accepting being a Kaizorg as the episode continues. It just shows how deep Jin Keisuke is and I can't wait to relive his adventures again. šš
Okay I finished up to Episode 13 and Keisuke is such a deep character. He actually has imposter syndrome with the previous Kamen Riders and if he can live up to these people he doesn't even know. I love that through training and fighting G.O.D. he's grown more and more into the Kamen Rider we love. These Greek Mythology Kaijin are pretty wonderful and so is Apollo Geist; they are serious threats and it is crazy how Keisuke keeps winning when he is outnumbered; has a lot of grit and spirit. He feels like the Everyman type of Kamen Rider and makes him so relatable and awesome. I love his fights and the Ridol is still one of my favorite Kamen Rider Weapons ever.

My ultimate film watchlist (1990s)
1930s-1940s | 1950s | 1960s-1970s | 1980s | 2000s | 2010s
Welcome to part five of my ultimate film watchlist! Please see the link to part one under 1930s-1940s to get the full explanation of the list. Otherwise, welcome to what is most likely your childhood, as well as mine.
P.S. I thought the 50s and the 80s were long, but get a load of this one. It's crazy. I can only imagine the 2000s list next.
I was born in 1999, and grew up in the 2000s-2010s. However, I was lucky enough to have a brother who is six years older than me, and a young mom (may she rest in peace), so I got to experience a lot of 90s things as well just as remnants of his childhood. I may be a little bit pickier here and leaving things out solely because I know they're not my target demographic. But again, if you have a film that you think should be on the list, please let me know! I'm happy to add your favorites (or least favorites) to round out everyone's experience!

what fandoms were you in long before twisted wonderland? I mean like over 10 years ago.
Anon, thank you for this question because it made us sit down and actually look through the albums of my old art and write a list LOL We thought itād take like 30 minutes tops + 10 minutes to write all of this down, but it took 2+ hours yikes⦠So sorry, no other replies today :(
And made us realise just how much we revisit certain fandoms š¤¦āāļø I guess weāre loyal!
Some of them were just very brief phases when we watched/rewatched something, I drew like 5 sketches for this thing and we moved on after about a week. But it was still prominent enough for us to feel like āOh right, Ryu was drawing (this) back thenā. Damn, 2013-2016 were insane, we were jumping around so much⦠When did these people have time to watch and draw so much shit??
Since this blog is very old, you can find some of my very old shitty fanart for a lot of those here. In all honesty, I really want to draw fanart on some of the more obscure and old ones again⦠if you have questions about any of this, feel free to ask!

tagged by @phdmama to list seven comfort movies! a lot of my comfort movies are what i like to call competency porn. which is basically movies about professionals doing their jobs well, so! here's the list
APOLLO 13āis there anything better than the scene when one of the guys in houston walks into the room and is like "we gotta figure out how to make this fit into this using nothing but that"
SPOTLIGHTāpeak competency porn, honest, hard working journalists using their skills to report on the story of sexual abuse in the catholic church and it actually making an impact. wild! i have rewatched this FAR too many times for it to be healthy probably lol
AIR FORCE ONEāok this one is silly, but really is there anything better than watching hot president harrison ford beat up a bunch of terrorists on a plane and then face off against gary oldman using a russian accent? bc honestly, i can't think of any
A FEW GOOD MENāi just love a good courtroom drama where people shout their confessions on the stand in front of everyone. also this has tom cruise at his peak, so really?? who can complain.
SHATTERED GLASSāthis is a random deep cut that i first watched early in the pandemic? but it's just. it's got everything i love. based on a true story, young hayden christensen playing a con artist journalist, and then just...an even, steady story as other journalists pick apart his lies and his life falls apart. like?? i love it. i've rewatched it A LOT.
MONA LISA SMILEāa movie that is objectively not as good as the one it's trying to ape (dead poets society) and YET it's the one i get in the mood to rewatch all the time. like this is white feminism at its peak but it is, truly, a guilty pleasure.
ALMOST FAMOUSāif you'll notice from this list, another thing i clearly like is recent period dramas and this is a great one to just get into the early 70s music scene and have some fun. also philip seymour hoffman is PHENOMENAL in this.
THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEYāthis is a bonus eighth film that i am adding to this list bc i only just watched it for the v first time in december and i've already rewatched it twice since. i can see it becoming a comfort move for me. in this case, the competency porn would be tom's competency at conning and murdering lol
tagging @crazyassmurdererwall, @tattooedsiren, @woodchoc-magnum, @valleydean, @machtaholic, @tripleaxeldiaz, @tawaifeddiediaz, @catdadeddie, @buttercupbuck, and anyone else who wants to do this
#tagged in#other movies that almost made the cut:#erin brockovich + good will hunting + my cousin vinny + everest + scream + pleasantville#these are also all mostly from the 90s#a lot of movies i first came across bc AFN (armed forces network) would play them on tv lol

d'you happen to have a personal ranking of the Ephron Trifecta (Sleepless in Seattle, When Harry Met Sally, You've Got Mail)? (just assuming you love a good romcom).
i love a good romcom, but oh man have you posed a tough question. i am going to try not to overthink this and go with what is in my heart so okay here we go:
1. You've Got Mail
is it nostalgia? is it because i love every iteration of parfumerie? is it how desperately i want the life of heather burns's character christina? all of the above? yes.
basically i feel the same way about you've got mail as my mom feels about apollo 13: if i find it on a random cable channel, i will have to watch, at minimum, thirty minutes before i can move on with my day. i love how nora moves us through the seasons in new york, and how she gives tom hanks the worst character to work with and he still makes him charming, and meg ryan! need i say more. how outdated it is just makes it more endearing to me. i rewatched it recently in my countdown to christmas (along with the shop around the corner, which i highly, highly recommend!), and i was once again swept off my feet. she was hoping it was him!
2. When Harry Met Sally
my favorite memory of when harry met sally: in february of 2020, one of my best friends threw a valentine's day party and decided to have romcoms on in the background for ambience. this was the first movie she put on and a solid seven of us watched the entire movie. the whole thing. during a party. billy crystal and meg ryan are that irresistible.
i think it's nora's best screenplay. it's hilarious, very grounded and adult (affectionate), and she should have won that oscar. i just don't personally have the same nostalgic attachment to it that i have to you've got mail. i first saw it when i was much older, which was for the best! i know i would not have appreciated it at thirteen.
3. Sleepless in Seattle
i first watched sleepless in seattle in the bath while drinking a glass of white wine, as ms. ephron intended. loved every minute of it.
this movie has no right working. none. i'm pretty sure meg ryan commits several crimes over the course of it, and i would have been her defense attorney if she had been charged with any of them. she (and tom, but mostly meg) sell this bonkers premise so hard. even though i rank the other two above it, sleepless in seattle definitely came the closest to making me cry. (did the wine play a role? who is to say.) it's definitely the one i've seen the least, but i'm now inspired to watch it again. the "meg ryan leaves a perfectly nice man for the mere idea of tom hanks" cinematic universe really does fuck so severely.
#ask#thank you so much for asking anon and apologies for the novel-length answer!#one day i'll learn to answer asks with brevity

2. whatās your feel-good movie?
i don't really have one. i tend to rewatch tv series for comfort but not so much movies these days. i do love Ocean's Eight, and Ocean's Eleven bc I'm a gentleman's heist kinda girlie. atm i'm watching the new season of OMITB while also rewatching the older seasons bc it's airing week to week; there's something very cosy and soothing about season 1 and 2, the visuals and the pace and the music. I also love MASH. but 'feel good'.. i loved Parent Trap when I was kid, and space-y movies like The Dish and Apollo 13 - not necessarily 'feel good' but they made me feel good.
12. how are you?
i'm good! currently watching and liveblogging Airport 1975 in preparation for 8x02 in a few days - i love watching decades-old movies and shows, seeing history on the screen, in a manner of speaking (fashion and society and the like).
i'm not really enjoying my job anymore so i'll be looking for a new one and also start looking into self-employment creative endeavours.
24. whatās something you do to de-stress?
i take time to myself and depending what mood i'm in i'll read or watch something. i love sitting outside in the sun. when i'm restless i like to exercise - walking or lift weights.
doing this thing

Hi again......If you don't mind, can I ask, what are your top 10 (or top 7) favorite media (can be books/ manga/ anime/movies/tv series)? Why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before......Thanks....
OH MY GOD IāD LIKE TO APOLOGIZE BECAUSE MY BAD BECAUSE I LEFT THIS SITTING IN MY DRAFTS AND TOTALLY FORGOT TO ANSWER THIS!! Anyways, top 7, in no particular order:
Hunter x Hunter: Iām not as into this as I was in middle school but itās never left my mind. Definitely my favorite shonen, Togashiās originality with the series is really refreshing. (I also love Yu Yu Hakusho by him!!) As weird as it gets the characters and story are always a blast to follow. The villains also go hard. I finished the 2011 anime and I have up to volume 13 of the manga! Iād love to catch up fully since itās being updated again, but havenāt gotten around to it yet. Itās something that Iāve always been inspired by even if I donāt want to make something thatās gonna be EXACTLY like it anymore lol.
Cowboy Bebop: I tried to limit myself to one (1) Shinichiro Watanabe anime for this list, but his other stuff fucks as well. I love Spike. (bet you never wouldāve guessed!!) Itās hard to put into words in a way that doesnāt sound incredibly dumb. But. Every character introduced has their own unique worldview, backstory, flaws, etc. It sounds so fucking stupid because yeah, thatās what a character is supposed to have?? But this anime does that REALLY well?? I think what Iām trying to say is that the show does a great job of presenting different lifestyles and perspectives without worrying about making the audience uncomfortable. The anime is all about human connections and how they impact the characters and I LOVE that. It was also pretty moving to me, lots of great emotional moments. The episode where they find Fayeās old cassette recording and the one with Grenās death will always stay with me. (Also the Andy one, but only because I think itās funny as hell.) Watanabe is my favorite anime director ever and if you love Bebop I recommend checking out some of his other stuff as well! (Also props to an anime director that isnāt afraid of diversity in his character designs)
Witch Hat Atelier: Iām not nearly as caught up with this as I would like to be but!!! I love the writing, worldbuilding, and characters. I wish more manga were like this. Not like, aesthetically, but like quality wise. Everything is done really well and the art and paneling is GORGEOUS omfg. Also Kamome Shirahama is a very cool and progressive person and itās just nice to read a manga by someone like her. Iām hyped as hell for the anime and canāt wait to see WHA reach a larger audience!! (Even with all the bad stuff it may bring, lmao)
Invader Zim: This one is probably the most different from the rest of the list lol. Iāll rewatch a few episodes of this every once in a while. Itās one of the only shows I watch that actually makes me laugh out loud. I also donāt think Iāve really seen anything else like it??? Sure thereās stuff thatās itās pretty similar to but you cant really say, āwow, this is exactly like ____!ā which is super cool. Thereās not a major character in the show that I can say I hate or even just am neutral on, I love them all. Iām not usually a fan of stuff the gross-out humor it does, especially in the first season, but just about everything else about it just lives in my brain rent free. I think itās a really unique and funny show and I just vibe with it stylistically as well. Seriously, I love the art style and just overall,,, edgy vibe. I absolutely do not care that itās a kidās show and I unironically think itās super cool lmao. I know should probably check out some of Jhonenās other stuff but I havenāt done that yetā¦
The Ace Attorney Trilogy: This one is more so just Shu Takumi in general. Itās a hard choice because I love Apollo Justice as well, and I also considered Ghost Trick (also by Takumi) but Agh!! The trilogy is the most iconic to me so Iām going with that. I just love seeing and interacting with all the unique characters the series has to offer. Iāve always liked how Takumi isnāt afraid to stray away from the generic skinny anime designs for his characters, it makes his characters feel very unique and memorable. He seems to be against having most of his characters be one dimensional, giving them their own struggles and aspirations, regardless of if theyāre a āsillyā character or not. I love it! It makes them more memorable and enjoyable than many other visual novel characters to me. (Please remember that I also love Ghost Trick holy fuck itās so good)
Yakuza 0: Iām going to be 100% for real and admit that I discovered this series because of a bunch of stupid clips I saw of it on YouTube. It wasnāt the dame da ne memes, this was before that. But like, clips of all the silly stuff you can do in game like dance, receive a chicken as a gift for winning at bowling, assign said chicken a position at your real estate business, etc. So I bought it on a whim looking for a laugh. And. Holy FUCK. I did not expect the actual real serious story of this game to hit me as hard as it did. Just a good, moving story. I was THOROUGHLY emotionally invested in both Majima and Kiryuās storylines by like, chapter 2 for both of them. I think it made me cry?? The fact that you can experience both that and the stupid shit, on top of the fun combat, makes it an S tier game for me. I plan to continue with the rest of the series (so far Iāve gotten through Kiwami 1 and 2 and loved them) but 0 has so far been my absolute favorite.
Pokemon: Itās not a perfect series but I always find myself getting back into it for a while every year. Iāve been a fan since I was just old enough to read, what can else can I say? I donāt have a super deep reason for this itās just something thatās always been comfortable and fun!! The worldbuilding, story, music, and characters, really shine through in some of my favorite games in the series. And regardless of story, the gameplay is always fun.
Itās hard for me to determine my favorite anything but for this I tried to go by:
-How often I ended up going back to these
-How much each work made an emotional impact on me (not just the deep stuff, can also include things like making me laugh)
-How much each of these inspired me (like as in inspired my art or made me think āI want to make something like that!!!ā) I think Iāve thought to that at least once for everything in here! Itās actually kind of scary because theyāre all so different-
Iām probably missing something here but this should give you an idea!! If I spend any longer on this Iām just gonna keep changing it lolllll
#ask#Iāve been chipping away at this for like 5 mins every once in a while for like. months#so apologies if I wrote a lot lolll#but this person asked me to yap and yap I shall#literally how did I end up writing so much about invader zim

81 fics
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
41,931 words
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Used to primarily write for Star Trek and Doctor Who with some cartoons sprinkled in. Now mostly Ace Attorney, though I occasionally write for the other fandoms as well
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Excluding a kudos bot victim and a workskin guide that I translated:
Phase changes (The Owl House, Amity/Luz/Willow)
A Debate on Courting Vulcans (Star Trek TOS, Kirk/Spock/McCoy)
speaking of elizabeth (Star Trek ENT, Trip/T'Pol)
Toegther (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Midge/Susie)
Going Down in History (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Midge/Susie)
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes!
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
We May Never Know (Doctor Who, River/Doctor)
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Hmm, almost all of my fics have happy endings, so this is tricky. Probably a new dawn, a new day, a new life (Star Trek TNG, Soren & Riker & OCs)
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Thankfully, no
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
No
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I've only written a TNG/Doctor Who crossover so far, but I have ideas for many more

No, but I'd love for that to happen
13: Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
No
14. Whatās your all-time favourite ship?
I donāt really have one, but my fave ship in my current fandom (Ace Attorney) is Phoenix/Miles, with Athena/Apollo/Juniper and Sebastian/Franziska(/Kay) coming in close second and third
15. Whatās a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
All of them XD but especially my She-Ra WIPS⦠I havenāt seen the show for a while and donāt really plan to rewatch it soon
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue, inner monolouges
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Ending fics
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Iād have to use Google Translate for anything other than Spanish or English
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Doctor Who
20. Favourite fic youāve written?
Itās not my best, but Iām most proud of a new dawn, a new day, a new life (Star Trek TNG, Soren & Riker & OCs). I wrote it for a Big Bang shortly after I started writing, having never written anything longer than a few hundred words. Itās still my longest fic at 9k. I probably wonāt write anything near that length anytime soon, and even then probably only in the context of another Big Bang. It turned out better than I expected and while Iāve improved since writing it, I think it still mostly holds up
