The problem is, due to the newness of the technology and its rapid evolution, most GenAI PoCs are primarily focused on technical feasibility and metrics such as accuracy and recall. This narrow focus is one of the primary reasons for why PoCs fail. A McKinsey survey found that while one-quarter of respondents were concerned about accuracy, many struggled just as much with security, explainability, intellectual property (IP) management, and regulatory compliance. Add in common issues like poor data quality, scalability limits, and integration headaches, and it’s easy to see why so many GenAI PoCs fail to move forward.
Beyond the Hype: The Reality of GenAI PoCs
GenAI adoption is clearly on the rise, but the true success rate of PoCs remains unclear. Reports offer varying statistics:

(Is It Still) Summer Word Challenge
Sandcastle
Thanks for the tag, @ramonaflow . Not sure what the rules are, but that never stops me.
This is a chunk of From the Sunny Day I Met You, inspired by the Sandcastle Man of Coronado beach. Even sans David Rose, it’s gorgeous there.

The sandcastle was an architectural marvel, individual stones texturing the walls, geometrically precise towers flanking all four sides. Was that a drawbridge? Patrick turned to David, eager for what was sure to be an entertaining critique of the structure's design and execution.
"Nice day, but that sun is blinding." The sight of David in sunglasses drove all other thoughts out of Patrick's mind. A thunderbolt shot through him, directly targeting his groin and taking out his verbal filter in the process. "Oh my god."
"What?" David asked, looking behind him.
"Uh, it's just so.... different here. Brighter. " Patrick blinked and squinted before pulling out his own sunglasses. "I'm still getting used to it."
David consulted a weather app on his phone, then reached into a pocket of his cropped black windbreaker. He held up a tube of sunscreen. "The UV level is 8. That is lethal for porcelain skin." He pointed at Patrick's sunglasses. "Take those off. You need to put this on your face immediately."
"I already have some on," Patrick said, but shoved his sunglasses back into his pocket.
Instead of responding, David clicked the lid of the tube open and squirted a generous amount onto Patrick’s palm. "You need to use at least this much. Next time you should let it soak in for 15 minutes."
Patrick took a dab and rubbed it on his nose. David shook his head in a gentle scoff. "May I save your face from incineration?" He waited for Patrick's nod, then lifted generous dollops of the cream from Patrick’s hand onto his fingers, dotting them carefully across Patrick's face and neck before rubbing the bit that remained into his own hands.
David's breath smelled of oranges and maple syrup as he angled close to Patrick. He smoothed the cream in slow circles, starting at Patrick's forehead, then moving methodically onto his nose and lower cheeks. "Close your eyes," David purred. Patrick obeyed as David gently stroked the top of his cheeks. "Now I'll get your ears." His touch was firmer on the hard cartilage, his thumb and middle finger massaging and stroking their way down to his neck. Patrick drew a deep breath, willing his arousal, increasing exponentially by the moment, to dissipate. Would the 5.4.3.2.1 technique refocus him? The only thing he could see was David. The only thing he wanted to touch was David. Okay, skip to 3: I hear David's breathing in. I hear the crinkle of David's jacket. I hear the sound of his fingers on my skin. David pushed Patrick's chin up to access his neck, his up and down rubbing motions rhythmic and delicate. "Almost done." His hands gripped Patrick's shoulders to turn him around. David used the flat of three fingers to swipe slow paths across the back of Patrick's neck before giving him a parting double squeeze. "Okay, done. You're safe for two hours."
Was David aware of the effect of his hands, his voice, his scent? Was this a seduction-- or just the hair-trigger reactions of a body starved for touch, for stimulation? "Sorry--just a second. I need to check something." As Patrick stepped away, he took out his phone. He pretended to listen to a voicemail while staring at the sandcastle, estimating its height, counting the turrets, looking for a stockade. After a few minutes he returned his phone to his pocket. He walked toward David, touching his arm lightly and speaking quickly.
“Okay, everything is fine. Shall we head this way?"
