Itâs machine learning/neural networks, which arenât intelligent. They are glorified pattern matching algorithms.
I actively have to restrain myself from punching anyone who, regardless of whether itâs intentional or from a lack of understanding, perpetuates the idea that they are âAI.â
Thereâs no understanding or comprehension anywhere in those programs/algorithms other than what humans, who are primed to personify anything and everything, project onto them.
Actual âArtificial Intelligenceâ does not exist yet, at least not in anything that is currently being referred to as AI.
I swear, the act of perpetuating the misconception that these programs are AI is doing just as much harm (if not more) as the people who are trying to cram these things into anything and everything.
Theyâre essentially amped up versions of those toys that take in whatever they hear to play back slightly changed. Theyâre clever repeaters.
Call them LLMs (Large Language Models), Transformer engines, or Neural Networks. But THEY ARE NOT ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE!!!!!
