The asry/ryas speedrun from strangers to bffs/partners as seen through the Mikotoba household.

Each image is a 2-panel comic.

Panel 1-1: Kazuma stands to the left and Susato + Professor Mikotoba stand side-by-side to the right.  Kazuma is smiling warmly at the pair.  Susato has bowed her head. Susato: “Congratulations on your speech, Kazuma-sama.  I know the results were not what you had hoped for.  But aside from the ending, your speech was marvelously delivered.”

Panel 1-2:  A determined expression has settled over Kazuma's face, and he has raised a fist in resolution. Kazuma: “Yes, I confess I was overconfident with this contest.  But this loss was not for nothing.  For through my defeat, I have met my one, true rival Naruhodou Ryuunosuke.  I foresee our paths will cross again, and in our next battle of wits, I will emerge victorious.” Susato and her father just stare at each other in confusion.

Panel 2-1: Kazuma is sitting, sulking in the bottom left corner, a cotton ball pressed to his tongue.  The ends of his hachimaki headband flutter over his head.  Mikotoba is returning a salve to his medical bag, which is being held by Susato.  Both Mikotobas are in nightclothes and fornw at Kazuma, unamused. Mikotoba: “Honestly, Kazuma-kun, only you would lack this much restraint and practice tongue twisters until you bit your tongue hard enough for it to bleed.”

 Panel 2-2: Kazuma has removed the cotton ball, revealing a faint line of blood trickling past his lips.   Kazuma: “You don't understand.  I need to prove to Naruhodou that I am a worthy friend and rival.  If I cannot match his verbal prowess, then I should not waste his time with my paltry attempt at friendship.” Both Mikotobas just stare at each other in silent exasperation.

Panel 3-1: Kazuma reaches for a steaming cup of tea.  He is smiling broadly.  Kazuma: “And then, Ryuunosuke hit the bull's-eye twice in a row.  So he's not only a master of the spoken word but of the bow as well.  I'm truly proud that I can call him my best friend and partner.”

Panel 3-2 shows both Mikotobas drinking tea.  Susato's eyes are closed, only half-listening. Susato: “That's nice, Kazuma-sama.” Mikotoba is grinning. Mikotoba: “So when is the wedding?“

Panel 4-1: Kazuma sits frozen, eyes wide and blushing furiously.  His mouth is wide open.  A speech bubble indicates that he is making indistinct wheezing noises.

Panel 4-2: The Mikotobas are still drinking their tea contentedly, eyes closed.  A speech bubble and text indicates that Kazuma is still wheezing off-panel. Susato: “Father, I think you may have broken Kazuma-sama.” Mikotoba: “Is that so?  How unfortunate.  He has an English exam at the end of the week after all.”

The problem with having two boyfriends is that sometimes you get stuck in the middle of their stupid argument.  Since I’ve previously drawn Barok in the middle of an asry/ryas argument, I figured Kazuma and Ryuunosuke needed their turns in the middle.

The first image shows Kazuma standing between Ryuunosuke (on the left) and Barok (on the right).  Both are frowning and looking away from each other, arms crossed.  Above them, swirling winds and snowflakes indicate they are giving each other cold shoulder.  Kazuma stands between them shivering with an unhappy expression.

The second image is a 2-panel comic.  The first panel shows Ryuu standing between Barok (on the left) and Kazuma (on the right).  Both are snapping at each other, arms crossed.  Ryuunosuke looks completely exasperated.  The second panel shows Ryuu holding a spray bottle and using it to spray Barok and Kazuma in the face with water like misbehaving cats.  Both are recoiling and trying to shield their faces.
