Fuji Mini-Mite 4 Inspection
Fuji Mini Mite
The Fuji Mini Mite HVLP series is like the premier product series in Fuji -- the Q Platinum Collection. They have all the very same features but for the noise reduction technology utilized on the Q series along with the rate control knob of the turbine with Q5. It is noisy but costs much less than the Q series.
Fuji Mini Mite 3
The Fuji Mini-Mite 4, with its own 4 enthusiast turbine can produce 9 PSI of stress for atomization and a superb finish. The pressure is good enough for viscous paint with no much thinning.
All the sprayer system from Fuji include a standard 25-foot hose, so the turbine can be put away from the work area. And this is very much recommended as the overspray paint might be sucked in by the filter, requiring regular cleaning.
Did I mention, they have an excellent customer service?
Fuji Mini Mite 4 Characteristics
Impact Type: Gravity / Bottom (Siphon) Impact Pressure Rating: 9 PSI / Bar Sprayer Sort: HVLP Air Cap: 1.3mm (supports 0.8, 1.0, 1.3, 1.5, 1.8, 2.0 and 2.5 mm) Cup Capacity: 600 cc / 21-fl. Ounce Max Rate: GPH (gallon per hour) Motor/Pump: 4 phase pump Min/Max Fan Pattern: 1 -- 15 inches from 8 inches space. Air Filter: Platinum Double Filter #7224-2 Weight: 23.6 pounds (10.7 kg)3 Model of Fuji Mini Mite Platinum Collection
There are 3 models of the Mini Mite collection of Fuji Sprayer system: the Mini Mite 3 with 3 scooter fans, the Mini-Mite 4 with 4 turbine fans as well as the Mini-Mite 5 with 5 turbine fans. Every one of those versions also come in different packages that have different gun models together with the turbine system.
What is Different?
Contained with Min Mite 5 is 5-for-5 Bonus Kit: 6' Whip Hose, Wet Film Gauge, 19 computer Spray Gun Cleaning & Maintenance Kit with Lubricant, Extra Turbine Filter,"Always Quantify" Booklet -- Record your substance preparation and outcomes.
What is 3 Phase, 4 Phase , and 5 Stage Motor
The 5-stage engine of this Mini Mite 5 model produces 9.5 PSI for finer atomization and greater end. The Mini Mite 4 version generates 9 PSI and Mini Mite 3 produces 6 PSI of pressure. The greater the pressure the more viscous substances can be sprayed with it.
The number"4" from the name"Fuji Mini-Mite 4 Platinum" stands for number of fans the sprayer system telescope motor has. So Min-Mite 3 includes three motor fans along with the Min-Mite 5 has five. A system with more buffs costs more. Besides the price tag, what exactly does more enthusiast mean to youpersonally?
First off, more enthusiasts mean more stress, as stated earlier. The 3 stage motor spins faster than the 4 stage motor and the 4 stage engine spins faster than the 5 stages and so forth. Faster spinning means more wear and tear which means more breakdowns and much more cost for maintenance. Additionally, it means more downtime and potential business loss -- loss of revenue.
Stress Rating
More fans create more stress and the rate at which you paint. The Min-Mite 3 generates 6 PSI, Min-Mite 4 generates 9 PSI and the Min-Mite 5, 9.5 PSI. At greater PSI the paint is atomized finer for a more specialist finish and can spray viscous materials.
Typical Features
Aside from the above-mentioned differences, there are numerous common features of this Mini-Mite series. The"Platinum" means it is the best product in this category of paint sprayer system from Fuji.
The three models have the Noise Reduction Covers (NRC) which lowers the noise created by the turbine.
Ambient air is entrained just from the rear effectively removing any Direct Sound Paths. Air is drawn through specially designed'Finger Slots' for optimal performance.
Heat Dissipation Chamber
Turbines of this Sprayer System create a lot of heat and it builds up in the toaster. Fuji Spray has designed a technique that removes the extra heat by channeling it to the Heat Dissipation Box located at the rear of the situation. Hot air is dissipated evenly via an optimum surface area using 60 holes, there's no extra hiss or loud whistling noise. The result is a cooler operating temperature and a longer life for the machine in contrast to other regular systems.
Spray Guns
Each of the 3 models of the Mini-Mite System support 3 distinct versions of spray guns. The three versions of the spray guns are:
T-Model -- T70 T-Model -- T75G G-XPC
The"G" in the model implies the gun is a gravity gun. Siphon fed T70 includes a cup capacity of 1 Quart (1000cc) and comes with a 1.3millimeter Air Cap. The T75G is a gravity gun with a power of 0.63 Quart (600cc) and comes with a 1.3mm Air Cap. And the GXPC includes a capacity of 0.42 Quart (400cc) comes with 1.4millimeter Air Cap.
The T-Model provides an improved spray pattern for outstanding performance. The new slick design is ergonomic and well balanced.
The G-XPC, T-Model -- T70 along with also the T-Model -- T75G non-bleed Gravity Spray Gun comes with an exclusive side Pattern Control Knob to adjust the Fan Size. The Fan Pattern is adjustable from 1" to 15" from 8" distances.
Other Capabilities
They come with a 25ft Hi-Flex Hose with Quick-Connect, Air Control Valve, User Manual, Viscosity Cup, Wrench, and Cleaning Brush. The machine operates on both 110-120 V and 220-240 V electricity.
Paint Type Supported
Paint Types: Many kinds of paints are encouraged such as Nitrocellulose lacquers, dyes, cellulose, acrylics, synthetics, polyurethane, stains, varnish, primers, water-based finishes, oil-based paints, urethanes, enamel, latex and a lot more. Please refer to the Air Cap Place Information to determine which Cap size supports that kind of paint.
Client Satisfaction
If you take a look at the average rating of this product, you will Understand the customers who used the item proved quite happy with it. The majority of the people loved the minimum overspray which they experienced when they went for latex. The results were so great and also this product turned out to be a huge time saver for them. The end obtained was also perfect. The tool was shown to be very advantageous for the DIYers who were looking for a professional finish in their own job.
The hosepipe that comes with the machine is flexible but somewhat stiff Whenever you are going to be doing any inside cabin work. The Fuji 2049F 6-Foot flexible whip hose is the solution. The Whip hose is quite lightweight and flexible. It can bend and twist any sharp and difficult corner, producing your gun far more maneuverable.
It is created from glass fiber-reinforced polymer. This lightweight Material requires the weight off your wrist letting simple maneuverability of the of the spray gun.
This additional length of 6 ft along with the supplied 25 ft Allows for additional cooling of the atmosphere as it travels a longer distance from the turbine. This frequently alleviates problems with rapid drying lacquers (and Latex House Paint) drying too fast.
This particular whip hose can also be compatible with other HVLP sprayer programs from other brands.

21 May 2019: Like a vending machine, pharmacies and plastic bags, Amazon invests in Deliveroo
Hello, this is the Co-op Digital newsletter - it looks at what's happening in the internet/digital world and how it's relevant to the Co-op, to retail businesses, and most importantly to people, communities and society. Thank you for reading - send ideas and feedback to @rod on Twitter. Please tell a friend about it!
Tumblr media
Like a vending machine
"People are coming in, they're grabbing one thing, and then they leave. "People [are] ... kind of treating it like a vending machine." - Amazon’s New York Go store.
Obviously supermarkets have larger baskets/spend and less frequent visits, and convenience stores have smaller baskets/spend and more frequent visits. But maybe that inverse relationship between convenience (or speed) and transaction size extends much further. If you reduce much of the shopping friction (no checkouts etc) in a convenience store, maybe the basket size will happily drop so far that you don’t need a basket any more.
Technology has been great at splitting apart existing “bundles” into ever smaller atoms, and then replacing them with a new kind of bundle. Music: sales of songs (iTunes in the 2000s and MTV in the 90s) replaced sales of albums, but that spend is now moving to streaming (Spotify). The same thing is happening with TV at the moment (cable TV packages give way to streamed video on demand from Netflix). The same thing will happen with private transport: owning a car is inefficient for many travelers because 90% of the time the car sits outside a home, so it makes more sense to buy a ride instead (Uber).
Could you translate a pattern like that to grocery? Maybe Go means that the natural “basket size” is something that fits in your pocket. Maybe the next step is that the food somehow becomes a monthly subscription service. That’s an interesting idea, though hard to do with food because, unlike say digital content, the marginal distribution costs of food are not zero (as meal kit companies have been finding). But maybe you could imagine a Costco-like model: a monthly membership gets you access to the store, in which all of the goods are cheap and maybe some are free.
Elsewhere in retail:
McDonald’s locations to double as U.S. embassies in the most American thing that ever happened - why shouldn’t retail help provide valuable help and service to people?
Now its partnership with Ocado is ending, Waitrose plans to treble the size of its online sales to 1bn.
Richer Sounds founder hands over control of hi-fi and TV firm to staff.
Co-op CEO Steve Murrells has backed the recommendation from Tesco chief Dave Lewis that online retailers be charged a 2% sales levy to help pay for a reduction in business rates for high street stores.
Health: service design and plastic bags
Great piece about service design in the NHS - Mostly service design: the health and care edition:
“People in this sector talk a lot about “service redesign”. I find that odd because, on the available evidence, much of the service we have today was never consciously designed. It emerged through countless policy decisions and reorganisations.”
Boots has robots packing repeat prescriptions but they’ve introduced single-use plastic bags which some customers don’t like. “She said she intended to use a different pharmacy if Boots gave her another plastic bag.”
A paper bag generally signals “eco-friendly” compared to a plastic bag. The green footprint of packaging is sometimes counter-intuitive, and reasons for packaging choices aren’t always obvious (Boots said "the bags also need to be heat-sealed shut, which reduces the risk of products falling out of the bags in transit") so if Boots were replacing paper bags with plastic ones, maybe the bags could’ve had a message printed on them explaining the choice.
Elsewhere in pharmacies: Co-op’s Health new service helps people view, order and manage their NHS repeat prescription from their phone. Co-op will also trial self-serve lockers for prescription collection. (And how Co-op Digital ran design sprints to quickly answer critical business designs for a forthcoming feature.)
Amazon invests in Deliveroo: routes to market
Amazon is the lead investor in Deliveroo’s latest fundraising - Deliveroo will use the money to hire more tech people and open more dark “cloud” kitchens.
Takeaway marketplaces and food delivery are contested and overlapping these days: Just Eat started as a takeaway marketplace but now competes more directly with Deliveroo. Most of these companies seem to have increasing costs to acquire customers so it's often seen an attritional "scale wins" space. Amzn tried and later closed its Restaurants delivery service in London, which suggests that it felt investing in (or buying) Deliveroo would be a better route to the same goal.
Automated face recognition
A legal challenge to current police use of automated face recognition (AFR). The case is primarily about privacy: AFR collects data which can later be used to match or identify people, so you might think of it as being like non-consensual mass fingerprinting. There isn’t much if any regulation on use of facerec, so this may lead to some legislation. The wider questions with AFR are whether it works too well (surveillance society) or not well (tragedy of errors) and where the UK wants to be on the freedom/privacy/safety/control map.
San Francisco bans facial recognition technology - the first ban by a major city in the US.
Google vs Huawei (US vs China)
The US President amped up the trade disagreement with China. US firms cannot supply components to Huawei without export licences (or maybe they can). Google will withhold Android updates and Play store, Gmail, Goog maps etc from Huawei phones in future. This may hurt Huawei and help Samsung outside China, and fragment mobile phone OSes further in the long-term. It may also hurt Apple everywhere if China retaliates, and even dilute the strength of any anti-competitive scrutiny against Google in the US.
Everything else
Adobe tells users they can get sued for using old versions of Photoshop - this seems like a bad thing to say to your customers.
BT unveils new logo - its name in a circle - staff will get shares which is good. The new logo has a default social media user icon vibe to it, which may or may not fit your aesthetic.
“Dark magic”: a user successfully controlling lots of things on their mobile with Google voice and without losing their mind in frustration.
A 2019 survey of US consumers suggests that Walmart has 58.5m app customers. Amazon has 54.4m (surprising that it’s in second place?), Uber 52.1m, Starbucks 44.2m.
Netflix saves our kids from up to 400 hours of commercials a year (fewer ads, yay) though this is also because the average 6-11 year old is spending over 1,450 hours a year watching television (erm).

WASHINGTON  — A whistle blew, an impeachment inquiry swung into motion and the president at the center of it all rose defiantly to his own defense, not always in command of the facts.
A CIA officer, in a complaint filed under federal whistleblower protections that preserve anonymity, alleged President Donald Trump abused his office in pressing for a Ukrainian investigation of a Democratic rival, Joe Biden. That revelation persuaded Democrats to move ahead with an inquiry that could produce articles of impeachment. Trump has reacted with anger, with weekend tweets that made the groundless accusation that Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff, the Intelligence Committee chairman taking the lead in the impeachment review , criticized him “illegally.”
A look at Trump’s recent words on impeachment, Ukraine and other subjects:
UKRAINE
TRUMP: “Rep. Adam Schiff illegally made up a FAKE & terrible statement, pretended it to be mine as the most important part of my call to the Ukrainian President, and read it aloud to Congress and the American people. It bore NO relationship to what I said on the call. Arrest for Treason?” — tweet Monday.
TRUMP: “Liddle’ Adam Schiff … fraudulently and illegally inserted his made up & twisted words into my call with the Ukrainian President to make it look like I did something very wrong. He then boldly read those words to Congress and millions of people, defaming & libeling me.” — tweets Saturday.
THE FACTS: Trump is exaggerating Schiff’s exaggerations. The California Democrat, in what he said was a parody during a committee hearing, mocked and overstated the president’s pleas in his July 25 call to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, as Trump does with his critics routinely. Schiff’s remarks are not illegal nor would it be defamatory or libelous, because lawmakers are shielded from liability for comments made in the course of Congress under the “speech or debate” clause in the Constitution, which seeks to foster political debate.
Nor is it treason, which is defined narrowly under the Constitution as part of an effort by the framers to prevent the government from using it as a reason to suppress political speech, said J. Richard Broughton, associate dean at University of Detroit Mercy and a member of the Republican National Lawyers Association.
Treason occurs when a U.S. citizen wages war against the country or provides material support to a declared enemy of the United States.
For instance, in the Cold War case of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, who were executed for giving atomic secrets to Russia, the Rosenbergs were convicted of espionage, not treason, because the U.S. and Russia were not officially at war. No one has been convicted of treason since the aftermath of World War II, says Carlton F.W. Larson, a University of California law professor who has a book coming on treason.
During Thursday’s House intelligence committee hearing, Schiff made clear he was providing an account that was in “essence” what he believed Trump was conveying to Zelenskiy when “shorn of its rambling character.”
No exact transcript of Trump’s comments with Ukraine’s president actually exists, just a rough transcript released by the White House.

TRUMP, describing the July 25 phone call with his Ukrainian counterpart: “Another Fake News Story! See what was said on the very nice, no pressure, call.”— tweet Thursday.
TRUMP: “My call was perfect.” — remarks to reporters Thursday.
THE FACTS: It’s a big stretch for Trump to say he placed no pressure on Zelenskiy in that phone call — a conversation marked by Trump’s blunt remark: “I would like for you to do us a favor,” according to a White House account of the call.
Trump repeatedly prodded Zelenskiy to help investigate Biden and son Hunter, as well as to look into a cybersecurity firm that investigated the 2016 hack of the Democratic National Committee and concluded it was carried out by Russia.
The call followed a monthslong campaign by Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, conducted on Trump’s behalf to get Ukrainians to scrutinize Hunter Biden’s business dealings in Ukraine when Joe Biden was vice president. It also followed Trump’s abrupt suspension of military aid for Ukraine that Congress had approved. The aid was recently released.
When Zelenskiy thanked Trump for past U.S. aid and suggested his country might need more, Trump switched the topic to the investigation he wanted Ukraine to do. He asked Zelenskiy to work with Attorney General William Barr and Giuliani on the matter.
As for the call being “perfect,” it was actually worrisome enough so that White House attorneys moved a rough transcript of it to a highly secure system where fewer officials would have access to it than is normally the case for conversations between Trump and world leaders.
The call and the broader effort to win a foreign government’s help on a matter that could benefit Trump’s reelection are what sparked the impeachment inquiry.
___
TRUMP, denouncing information from the whistleblower: “All second hand information that proved to be so inaccurate.” — tweet Friday.
THE FACTS: The whistleblower’s accusations have not been shown to be incorrect. Several key details have actually been corroborated. For example, the White House account of the July 25 phone call showed that the whistleblower had accurately summarized the conversation, as relayed by unidentified U.S. officials, in the complaint sent to the acting director of national intelligence.
___
TRUMP: “I want to see other countries helping Ukraine also, not just us. As usual the United States helps and nobody else is there.” — remarks to reporters Wednesday.
TRUMP: “I’d withhold again, and I’ll continue to withhold until such time as Europe and other nations contribute to Ukraine. Because they’re not doing it; it’s the United States. … Why is it only the United States putting up the money?” — remarks to reporters Tuesday.
THE FACTS: It isn’t only the U.S. putting up money. It’s false to say “nobody else is there.”
European Union institutions have provided far more development assistance than the U.S.— compared with $204 million from Washington. EU members, Japan and Canada also contribute significantly.
Since 2014, the EU and European financial institutions have mobilized more than $16 billion to help Ukraine’s economy, counter corruption, build institutions and strengthen its sovereignty against further incursions by Russia after its annexation of Crimea.
The U.S. is a heavy source of military assistance. The aid package held back by Trump, and recently released, amounted to nearly $400 million in such aid. But NATO also contributes a variety of military-assistance programs and trust funds for Ukraine. In most such cases, the programs are modest and NATO countries other than the U.S. take the lead.
___
TRUMP, in the July 25 call with Ukraine’s leader: “Germany does almost nothing for you. All they do is talk.” — according to White House account of the conversation, released Wednesday.
THE FACTS: Germany is the third largest bilateral donor to Ukraine, after the EU and the U.S.
“Anyone who views this soberly will conclude Germany is strongly involved,” said German foreign ministry spokesman Rainer Breul.
___
GUN CONTROL
TRUMP: “It is disgraceful what the Do Nothing Democrats are doing (the Impeachment Scam), but it is also disgraceful what they are NOT doing, … Gun Safety … and much more!” — tweet Saturday.
TRUMP, speaking of the Democratic senator from Connecticut: “Chris Murphy — who I’ve been dealing with on guns — you know, so nice. He’s always, ‘Oh, no, we want to work it out. We want to work it out.’ But they’re too busy wasting their time on the witch hunt.” — news conference Wednesday.
THE FACTS: Trump is the main holdup on gun control legislation as he mulls whether to endorse expanded background checks.
The Democratic-controlled House passed a bill in February that would require background checks on all gun sales, including those between strangers who meet online or at gun shows. But Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said it’s not clear the Senate would be able to pass the legislation or that Trump would sign it into law. Earlier this month, McConnell stressed that Congress would remain “in a holding pattern ” on gun control as lawmakers await proposals from the White House.
A proposal being floated by Barr on Capitol Hill would require background checks on all commercial gun sales, including at gun shows. But Trump told reporters this month the plan was one of many ideas under consideration and he would go “very slowly.”
___
ECONOMY and TRADE
TRUMP: “How do you impeach a President who has created the greatest Economy in the history of our Country.” — tweet Saturday.
TRUMP: “Our country is the strongest it’s ever been economically.” — news conference Wednesday.
THE FACTS: It isn’t.
In the late 1990s, growth topped 4% for four straight years, a level it has not reached on an annual basis under Trump. Growth reached 7.2% in 1984. The economy grew 2.9% in 2018 — the same pace it reached in 2015 under President Barack Obama — and hasn’t hit historically high growth rates.
The unemployment rate is near a 50-year low of 3.7%, but the proportion of Americans with a job was higher in the 1990s. Wages were rising at a faster pace back then, too. More Americans are now out of the workforce, taking care of children or relatives, or going to school, while others became discouraged about their job prospects and stopped looking. The government doesn’t count people as unemployed unless they are actively searching for jobs.
___
VICE PRESIDENT MIKE PENCE: “We have before the Congress what will be the largest trade deal in American history. … It’s time for Congress to pass the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement and pass it this year.” — remarks Thursday in Indianapolis.
THE FACTS: It’s not the largest trade deal ever made.
It covers the same three countries as the North American Free Trade Agreement, which the Trump administration is seeking to replace. In contrast, the Uruguay Round of trade negotiations concluded in 1994 created the World Trade Organization and was signed by 123 countries. The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston found the following year that the WTO’s initial membership accounted for more than 90 percent of global economic output.
___
TRUMP on the effects of the impeachment inquiry: “The stock market went up when they saw the nonsense. All of a sudden the stock market went down very substantially when they saw a charge. After they read the charge, the stock market went up very substantially.” — remarks to reporters in New York on Wednesday.
THE FACTS: First, he’s not actually charged with anything. He’s saying the market went down Tuesday when the impeachment drive was announced and up after the White House memo on his phone call with Ukraine’s president came out. That’s roughly right, but it’s wrong to tie the market fluctuations solely — or even primarily — to the impeachment episode.
The market cares even more about the economy, and currently the biggest wild card for the U.S. economy is how much Trump’s trade war with China could curtail growth. Since it began last year, the stock market has fallen with each escalation of tensions and risen when the two sides appeared close to resolving the dispute.
The 142-point drop in the Dow Jones Industrial Average on Tuesday was partly due to the impeachment developments but was also tied to Trump taking a hard line on China in a speech to the United Nations, which seemed to dim the prospects that coming talks would resolve the trade standoff. While the market did move higher Wednesday after the release of the memo, the Commerce Department released some solid numbers on the housing market around the same time.
Moreover, just after the comment on the stock exchange, Trump told reporters a deal with China “could happen sooner than you think,” and the Dow quickly doubled its gain.
The economic-political dynamic was evident in the impeachment inquiries of Presidents Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton. After the initial inquiry of Nixon in October 1973, the S&P 500 index fell 33% the next year. But the S&P 500 gained 39% after the Clinton impeachment inquiry started in October 1998. The difference: The economy was headed toward a recession in the mid-1970s, while the economy was growing strongly in the late 1990s. For Trump, the U.S. economy slowed to growth of about 2% in the second quarter from 3% in the first quarter and current estimates are for 2% growth in the third quarter.
___
TRUMP: “In America, the result was 4.2 million lost manufacturing jobs … the United States is now taking that decisive action to end this grave economic injustice.” — address Tuesday to the U.N. General Assembly.
WHITE HOUSE: “The president is getting rid of the disastrous North American Free Trade Agreement and replacing it with a better deal, the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement. Our country has lost 4 million manufacturing jobs since NAFTA went into effect.” — news release Tuesday.
THE FACTS: The loss of factory jobs is not all due to NAFTA.
Trump is correct that the United States has lost nearly 4 million factory jobs since that pact took effect in January 1994. But most economists attribute the losses to other factors — the recessions of 2001 and 2007-2009, automation that lets machines replace workers and low-cost competition from China.
Trump’s proposed NAFTA replacement is hardly expected to create a jobs boom. The independent International Trade Commission estimates that the new deal would create 176,000 jobs over six years, a rounding error in a country with 152 million nonfarm jobs.
___
BEAUTY PAGEANT
TRUMP, recalling his days as the owner of the Miss Universe pageant: “It’s a great thing. And we had a winner from Ukraine.” — remarks Wednesday before a meeting with Zelenskiy.
THE FACTS: A Ukrainian woman has never won the Miss Universe title. Several made the top 10 during Trump’s tenure at the pageant, which he bought in 1996 and sold in 2015. But none took the prize in the pageant’s history, which dates to 1952. Ukrainian Olesia Stefanko was first runner-up in 2011.

In 1999, Universal remade one of their famous monster movies, The Mummy, for modern ages. It was a cross between a horror film, a goofy comedy, and an Indiana Jones film. While it was earmarked as a modestly budgeted film, it became one of the biggest box-office smashes of that year spawning two sequels, a spin-off series, and a theme park ride. Now, Universal is trying to recreate its success with the beginning of a new universe entitled The Dark Universe and the first film in its series, The Mummy. This time around, The Mummy takes place in modern times starring box office star, Tom Cruise (Mission: Impossible Series). Cruise plays Sergeant Nick Morton, a U.S. Army reconnaissance officer who is stationed in the Middle East. During his time there, he and his sidekick, Corporal Chris Vail (Jake Johnson; Jurassic World) sideline as black market treasure hunters. During one of these "off-the-books" reconnaissance missions, Nick and Chris uncover a hidden tomb located in the heart of Iraq. During their exploration with archeologist Jenny Halsey (Annabelle Wallis; King Arthur: Legend of the Sword ), they discover an ancient tomb that contains the body of Ahmanet played Sofia Boutella (Atomic Blonde). They unwisely remove the tomb to send back to London and Dr. Henry Jekyll (Russell Crowe; The Nice Guys ) for further study. As you can imagine Ahmanet does not play along and all hell ensues. While The Mummy 2017 is a very entertaining film, it lacks some the "fun factor" that was prevalent in the 1999 version and some of the story gets bogged down at times. However, none of the issues can be attributed to the casting. As with most of his films, Tom Cruise gives it his all. With a career starting in the 1980s, he has become one of the most charismatic and dedicated actors working in the industry and it certainly shows in The Mummy. His character (even with some of his unscrupulous ways) is funny, resourceful, and at the end of the day, you are rooting for him. Boutella gives another great performance to add to her resume as well giving us a great female villain. While her character was envisioned as just a female Imhotep, Boutella created a sexy, smart villain that is complex compared to the mummy of the first film. The rest of the supporting cast gave their all as well, creating memorable characters, that are not just fluff to the story but help drive along the plot. The first Mummy reboot was helmed by a young director with very few films to his name, Stephen Sommers (Odd Thomas), and Universal, once again, chose someone new to the directorial world in Alex Kurtzman (People Like Us). While Kurtzman has several writing and producing credits under his belt this is his first big scale Hollywood film as a director. Unfortunately, unlike last time, this seems to be the main reason the film didn't succeed the way people had hoped. While the actors gave superb performances, the direction did not fare so well. At times scenes felt choppy, rushed, and the large action pieces lacked any cohesive semblance. It was rumored that behind the scenes Cruise stepped in to help during editing to fix these problems and it is a scary thought what the film would have looked like without his expertise. The Mummy's 4K UHD disc is presented in with 2160 lines of resolution with a 2.40:1 aspect ratio. As with most modern day film 4K releases, it looks amazing. The UHD color palette truly shines through during the Iraq desert scenes as well as providing a dark ominous look to the catacombs of London. The transfer also benefits from the film's use of real sets, providing the sharp details that sometimes can look fake when special effects are used with this format. Complimenting the amazing video presentation is a Dolby Atmos soundtrack that makes you feel like you are actually there with the actors in the film. The audio lets you hear every little detail from the sand whipping through the air in Iraq, to the wings of the birds hitting the aircraft during the films famous zero-g plane crash. The dialog is crisp, clear, and easy to understand. Universal went all out with the special features for this rendition of The Mummy. As usual with most 4K releases, the special features can be found on the Blu-ray disc in the set. Aside from the Digital HD copy of these film these features include:
Cruise & Kurtzman: A Conversation - A sit-down talk with Tom Cruise and Director Alex Kurtzman
Cruise in Action - Cast and crew discuss the infamous lead of the film, Tom Cruise.
Nick Morton: In Search of a Soul - Dive deeper into what makes Nick Morton (Tom Cruise) tick in the film.
Life In Zero-G: Creating the Plane Crash - A look into one of the films death defying stunts
Rooted in Reality - A look into how The Mummy used real sets instead of green screens.
Choreographed Chaos - Detail on the how the action was all put together in the final product.
Becoming Jekyll and Hyde - The placement of Dr. Jekyll was a nice surprise in the film. Now found out more about the character.
Meet Ahmanet - Explore the ancient evil portrayed by Sofia Boutella
Ahmanet Reborn Animated Graphic Novel - An animated adventure with Sofia Boutella character
Deleted and Extended Scenes
While The Mummy (2017) was a disappointment box office wise, it still delivered all the elements of a summer blockbuster movie, a charismatic cast, spectacular sets, and explosions — all contained in a slick package by director Alex Kurtzman. Even though it falls short of its predecessor, it still is a fun ride and provides a solid foundation for the upcoming Dark Universe. Hopefully, the next installment in the universe, The Bride of Frankenstein, will be as much fun.

It is two and a half minutes to midnight, and the lines between fact and fiction are growing increasingly irrelevant. As the “real news” reports the latest in “alternative facts” our country is overwhelmed with an odd sense of déjà vu, like we’ve been here before but forgot to take notes. All those years preaching those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it and look where it has gotten us:
Tumblr media
Following the virally infamous Kellyanne Conway interview on January 22nd, our country appears condemned to repeat High School English while we’re at it. Sales of George Orwell’s iconic novel “1984” skyrocketed to the top of the charts, with hopes that “It Can’t Happen Here” putting Sinclair Lewis’ satirical tale closely in the running, and Aldous Huxley’s “Brave New World” coming up fast.
https://twitter.com/rememberedtales/status/822469791260807168
Margaret Atwood’s dystopian moral “better never means better for everyone… it always means worse, for some” makes her novel “A Handmaid’s Tale” a favorite of recent protests, particularly the January 21st Women’s March, as the near future of 1985 approaches once more.
Tumblr media
Save us Supergirl!
As citizens across the country discover the lessons of classic literature that they were too wrapped up in teenage angst to appreciate before it was too late, others…
tick-tock. tick. tock. tick…
Written by Alan Moore Illustrated by Dave Gibbons colored by John Higgins
You won’t be seeing “Watchmen” on any school reading or viewing lists, but as three stuffy old men from the Bulletin of the Atomic Sciences advance a very real doomsday clock, this motif draws chilling parallels.
“Watchmen” is a graphic novel in twelve parts, one for each hour on the clock, ticking one minute closer to midnight with each issue, counting down to global catastrophe in the final chapter.
Tumblr media
“Who Watches the Watchmen?” Not Alan Moore. To him, I do apologize, for I must talk about the film. The graphic novel writer’s name was stricken from the movie credits, and at his own request, his share of the profits went to illustrator Dave Gibbons, who worked closely with the production of the adaptation.
Tumblr media
As the character Dr. Manhattan crafts his clockwork-world on the sands of Mars pondering the nature of reality and the importance of this clock motif… the world of “Watchmen” was made by Alan Moore. A purist with a deep respect for the medium, he scripted his stories to showcase the full range of what comics could do–
if we only see comics in relation to movies then the best that they will ever be is films that do not move
“Watchmen” is told as a collection of character accounts deconstructing the super hero, and similarly, deconstructing the super hero comic. While remarkably true to the source for material considered for many years to be unfilmable… “Watchmen” is a comic about comics as much if not more than it is a comic about super heroes, and a film about comics just doesn’t capture the same effect on that front.
Tumblr media
The graphic novels open with full page prose excerpts from Hollis Mason’s autobiography “Under the Hood” detailing his masked adventures as Night Owl, and the events surrounding the formation of the Minutemen. Under the Hood was adapted as a special feature for the Ultimate Cut of the film, directed by Eric Matthies with a screenplay by Hans Rodionoff
“Tales of the Black Freighter” is a comic within the Watchmen comic universe named in homage to the song “Seeräuber Jenny” from Brecht’s “Threepenny Opera” which tells of a ship by that name. Read by a teenage boy at a news-stand, the pirates tale Marooned parallels elements of the “Watchmen” story, serving as foil to the main plot, and to the structural commentary.
Directed by Daniel Delpurgatorio and Mike Smith, with a screenplay by Alex Tse and Zack Snyder, Tales of the Black Freighter was adapted as animated segues to preserve the meta-context. These shorts did not make the theatrical cut of the film, but edited in to the Ultimate Cut, their presence ties together a collection of stories, transitioning between the elements with a smooth sailing grace that now feels oddly disjointed in their absence.
One element of frame narrative did remain prominently featured in all versions of the adaptation– Rorschach’s entries to his journal served as voice-over narrations throughout the plot of the film, culminating in the public release of this information when this journal is sent to the press, establishing the journal as a sort of self-insert for the screenplay.
Added material completes the “Ultimate Watchmen” package with a run-time of 215 minutes. Clocking in at 7 minutes longer than Peter Jackson’s Extended Cut for “The Fellowship of the Ring” many viewers argue that vaguely metaphorical cartoon tangents interjected between key plot points pulls them out of a monotony already droning on for far too long…
Yes, of course, the whole idea is utterly inane, but to let its predictable inanities blind you to its truly fabulous and breathtaking aspects is to do both oneself and the genre a disservice.
– Alan Moore on suspension of disbelief within comic context
Others counter that these seemingly extraneous details serve as easter-eggs for dedicated fans to decipher and discuss, offering a profound respect for the source material, which is essential in maintaining a pre-existing fandom. Use of motion comic animation went one step further in preserving the source medium, but even still, this is child’s play compared to Alan Moore’s mastery of comic form.
Tumblr media
Chapter V: Fearful Symmetry
The reasons for these eccentricities are obscure, complex, and probably not terribly interesting to anyone not utterly infatuated with comics as a medium
– from the Introduction to the Saga of the Swamp Thing by Alan Moore
Your average super hero, the run of the mill picture of perfection fighting for truth, justice and the American way, often comes packaged in a stylish and remarkably durable spandex super jumpsuit. The Klark Kents and Peter Parkers of the comic world may pass as any other mundane photojournalist, but their super-powered alter egos are instantly recognizable by their bright, primary color schemes. DC comic’s iconic Superman sports a blue suit with red cape and gold accents. Marvel comic’s rendition of the demi-god Thor is similarly decked in blue tinted armor, a billowy red cape, and gold blingage.
Villains, on the other hand, are generally associated with secondary colors, green being the most common as we are familiar with classic horror tropes like witches and Frankenstein’s monster. For characters like Spiderman’s notorious villain Green Goblin, this color runs skin deep, and the purple accessories simply make for a complimentary aesthetic. Others, like Batman’s nemesis The Joker, choose their colors for themselves in snazzy purple suit jackets and OG neon green hair gel.
An exception to the standard, super scientist Bruce Banner is heralded as an iconic Marvel hero, but turns a smashing shade of radioactive green when his alter ego the Incredible Hulk takes control. The Hulk’s rapidly expanding size shreds his human-sized clothing with every fit of rage, but his conveniently purple pants never fail, leaving this color association as a manifestation of the Hulk’s destructive nature.
Featuring bold yellow and black titling on its cover, “Watchmen” blends right in with this pattern. In typical Hollywood fashion, the yellow smiley face accented with a splash of blood red, often spotted throughout the comics subtly discarded amidst carefully scripted details… became a merchandising goldmine, featured on movie posters, DVD jackets, and Hot Topic fitted t-shirts. Yellow and black, accented in red, became the primary color scheme of the film.
John Higgins colorized “Watchmen” mainly in secondary colors green, purple, orange, reserving primary colors to highlight key elements.
John leaned very heavily toward, as you say, the secondary palette… it was the same range of colors you’d always been able to use in American comics, but it was colors that hadn’t been widely used before. I think it added a lot to the atmosphere of the comic book…it reads less obviously as superheroes
– Dave Gibbons
These off the beaten scheme colors created a sense of ambiguity in the twisted morality of this dark and gritty take on real world super heroes. Dr. Manhatten floating naked and blue is a poignant contrast to the barren pink surface of Mars, and to the secondary palette back on his Earth, where this dissonance serves to inspire fear in the inferior human race.
In an effort to bring a sense of realism to comic adaptations, Hollywood has a tendency toward muting the colors when adapting iconic costumed heroes for screen. An all powerful naked blue man is believable enough, but apparently, the colorfully costumed Crimebusters was taking it too far.
Ozymandias, named for the King of Kings from Percy Bysshe Shelley’s famous poem, decks himself out in gold plate draped in purple robes with matching cape and boots. Often associated with regality, Adrian Veidt’s purple and gold wardrobe is befitting for the stature of his namesake, his wealth, and his power. Fated by the poem, and parallels to a plethora of purple-clad comic villains, Ozymandias serves as example of the inevitable futility of empire. Modeled as a parody of the 1997 Batsuit, the film’s rubbery black body armor, is super generic, and offers little insight to the character behind the mask, though it does sculpt some godly ab and thigh muscles.
Night Owl trades in a red hood, matching undies, and gold utility belt, for a form-fitted brown leather body suit. Rorschach sports the same black and white mask with a brown trench coat, but his purple scarf and pants are muted beyond recognition. While toning down their color, the film amped up the violence, adding back alley showdowns with gratuitous thugs, and gory bloodbath hatchet jobs. Its dark and gritty, we get it, but when the countdown to catastrophe finally strikes midnight, we’re almost entirely desensitized to the horrors of the disaster that ensues, while the comics remain remarkably void of violence to accentuate its prevalence in the final chapter.
Tumblr media
The Comedian keeps his blue starred red and white striped shoulder pads, but most prominently of all, Silk Spectre stands out in skimpy black and yellow, and Dr Manhattan shines a nearly blinding blue. These primary colors shine bright and bold in the feature film, but the secondary colors remain only as a muted memory of super heroes past. When flashbacks of the Minutemen weren’t seen in black and white or sepia tone, they did provide a glimpse at some of the classic costumes, colors and all.
There is nothing wrong with your television set
Tumblr media
This scene towards the end of the film references a reference to the in-universe source of the villainous scheme and twist ending, but while the comics openly pay homage to the 1963 episode “The Architects of Fear” with direct mention of the title, The Outer Limits opening sequence would suffice for the film, similarly overheard playing on Ms. Jupiter’s television.
https://dailymotion.com/video/x4dpm4i
Around issue 10, I came across a guide to cult television. There was an Outer Limits episode called ”The Architects of Fear.” I thought: ”Wow. That’s a bit close to our story.’ In the last issue, we have a TV promoting that Outer Limits episode — a belated nod.
—Alan Moore (Entertainment Weekly, 2009)
I kept telling him, ‘Be more original, Alan, you’ve got the capability, do something different, not something that’s already been done!’ And he didn’t seem to care enough to do that.
—Len Wein (Wizard, 2004)
Published in 1959, Tales of Suspense #2 leads with an uncredited story “Invasion From Outer Space” that ends with a similarly familiar reveal. Generally attributed to Jack Kirby, as evidenced by his signature usage of ellipses… its hard to say exactly where Alan Moore first conceptualized the idea, but this dispute would be the straw that breaks the editors back for Len Wein, who left the project due to irreconcilable creative differences.

A Brief History of data Technology
YEAR      DESCRIPTION
1957       Planar transistor developed by Jean Hoerni
With this technology the integrated circuit became a reality. This process forces sure varieties of atoms to infuse into AN otherwise pure piece of chemical element. These impurities or dopants create the conducting and management structures of the transistors on the chip. With this technology, microscopic circuit boards could be arranged  out on the Si surface, thus permitting the compacting of these circuits onto integrated circuits.
1958       First integrated circuit
In 1957, a group of eight physics engineers and physicists shaped Fairchild Semiconductor. The next year, one of these men, Jack Kilby, produced the initial computer circuit for industrial use.
1960's    ARPANET developed by the U. S. Department of Defense
Originally intended as a network of government, university, research, and scientific computers, the Advanced Advanced Research comes Agency NETwork was designed to change researchers to share data. This government project eventually grew into the Internet as we all know it nowadays. The networking technology and topology was originally designed to survive nuclear attack. This was back during the Cold War era, when most scientists expected that the USA would be subject to a nuclear attack sometime. The design needed that the network would route traffic and information flow around any harm. This robustness enabled the web to grow at unbelievable speed, until nowadays it serves up any of billions of internet pages.
1962       The first recorded description of the social interactions that may be enabled through networking was a series of memos written by J.C.R. Licklider of MIT in August 1962 discussing his "Galactic Network" construct. He envisioned a globally interconnected set of computers through that everybody may quickly access information and programs from any website. In spirit, the concept was terribly abundant just like the web of nowadays. Licklider was the first head of the pc analysis program at Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, starting in Oct 1962. While at Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency he convinced his successors at Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, Ivan Sutherland, Bob Taylor, and MIT research worker Lawrence G. Roberts, of the importance of this networking concept.
1969       UNIX Operating System Developed
Developed at AT&T labs by engineers Ken Thompson and Dennis Ritchie, the UNIX software package was the primary operative system that ran on a digital computer and will handle multitasking and networking. It was also written within the C artificial language - then a high level language with power and suppleness. Other operative systems existed, but they were sometimes written in assembly language for speed and potency. C was a natural environment for writing AN operative system. Today, both C and UNIX system area unit out there for a wider selection of element platforms than the other artificial language or software package. This level of portability in laptop programming makes UNIX system in style even still.

Back in 1972, music was sold on vinyl records. These records were large platters with spiral grooves cut in them. The music information was keep in the grooves by dominant the depth and direction of the cutting machine. However, the grooves eventually wore, resulting in cut fidelty. The laserdisc was created by Philips to correct this problem. Instead of grooves, pits were burned into the aluminum surface to represent the 1's and 0's of laptop technology. A laser beam either mirrored off the spot or was absorbed by perdition. The early laserdiscs were an equivalent size and shape as vinyl records, but they may hold each video and audio on their reflective plastic platter. The information had to be browse by a laserdisc player, which was at first costly. But in time this became a in style medium for home movies.

It is two and a half minutes to midnight, and the lines between fact and fiction are growing increasingly irrelevant–
As the “real news” reports the latest in “alternative facts” our country is overwhelmed with an odd sense of déjà vu, like we’ve been here before but forgot to take notes. All those years preaching “those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it” and look where it has gotten us:
Following the virally infamous Kellyanne Conway interview on January 22nd, our country appears condemned to repeat High School English while we’re at it. Sales of George Orwell’s iconic novel 1984 skyrocketed to the top of the charts, with hopes that It Can’t Happen Here putting Sinclair Lewis’s satirical tale closely in the running, and Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World coming up fast.
Today and for the next four years: don’t let the bastards grind you down. #handmaidstale pic.twitter.com/97A8a1waKd

Margaret Atwood’s dystopian moral “better never means better for everyone… It always means worse, for some” makes her novel A Handmaid’s Tale a favorite of recent protests, particularly the January 21st Women’s March, as the near future of 1985 approaches once more.
Save us Supergirl!
As citizens across the country discover the lessons of classic literature that they were too wrapped up in teenage angst to appreciate before it was too late, others…
tick-tock. tick. tock. tick…
Written by Alan Moore Illustrated by Dave Gibbons colored by John Higgins— You won’t be seeing Watchmen on any school reading lists, but as three stuffy old men from the Bulletin of the Atomic Sciences advance a very real doomsday clock, this motif draws chilling parallels.
Watchmen is a graphic novel in twelve parts, one for each hour on the clock, ticking one minute closer to midnight with each issue, counting down to global catastrophe in the final chapter.
Who Watches the Watchmen? Not Alan Moore. To him, I do apologize, for I must talk about the film, this is Movie Night after all. The graphic novel writer’s name was stricken from the movie credits, and at his own request, his share of the profits went to illustrator Dave Gibbons, who worked closely with the production of the adaptation.
As the character Dr. Manhattan crafts his clockwork-world on the sands of Mars pondering the nature of reality and the importance of this clock motif… the world of Watchmen, was made by Alan Moore. A purist with a deep respect for the medium, he scripted his stories to showcase the full range of what comics could do–
if we only see comics in relation to movies then the best that they will ever be is films that do not move
Watchmen is told as a collection of character accounts deconstructing the super hero, and similarly, deconstructing the super hero comic. While remarkably true to the source for material considered for many years to be unfilmable… Watchmen is a comic about comics as much if not more than it is a comic about super heroes, and a film about comics just doesn’t capture the same effect on that front.
Tales of the Black Freighter, named in homage to the song “Seeräuber Jenny” from Brecht’s Threepenny Opera, is a comic within the Watchmen comic universe. Read by a teenage boy at a news-stand, the pirates tale Marooned parallels elements of the Watchmen story, serving as foil to the main plot, and to the structural commentary.
Added material completes the Ultimate Watchmen package with a run-time of 215 minutes. Clocking in at 7 minutes longer than Peter Jackson’s Extended Cut for The Fellowship of the Ring, many viewers argue that vaguely metaphorical cartoon tangents interjected between key plot points pulls them out of a monotony already droning on for far too long…
Yes, of course, the whole idea is utterly inane, but to let its predictable inanities blind you to its truly fabulous and breathtaking aspects is to do both oneself and the genre a disservice.
– Alan Moore on suspension of disbelief within comic context
Others counter that these seemingly extraneous details serve as easter eggs for a dedicated fan to decipher and discuss, offering a profound respect for the source material, which is essential in maintaining a pre-existing fandom. Use of motion comic animation went one step further in preserving the source medium, but even still, this is child’s play compared to Alan Moore’s mastery of comic form.
Chapter V: Fearful Symmetry
The reasons for these eccentricities are obscure, complex, and probably not terribly interesting to anyone not utterly infatuated with comics as a medium
– from the Introduction to the Saga of the Swamp Thing by Alan Moore
Your average super hero, the run of the mill picture of perfection fighting for truth, justice, and the American way, often comes packaged in a stylish and remarkably durable spandex super jumpsuit.
Featuring bold yellow and black titling on its cover, Watchmen blends right in with this pattern.
John Higgins colorized Watchmen mainly in secondary colors green, purple, orange, reserving primary colors to highlight key elements.
These off the beaten scheme colors created a sense of ambiguity in the twisted morality of Watchmen’s dark and gritty take on real world super heroes.
An all powerful naked blue man is believable enough, but apparently, the colorfully costumed “Crimebusters” was taking it too far.
There is nothing wrong with your television set—

February 2000: Today I got that old feeling…
That I only get when the weather’s a certain way, and I’m doing something in particular, like listening to a familiar song, or driving to a certain place. That feeling isn’t really good or bad, but it makes me really want to go out and fulfill my life. I’m awaiting the day Courtney and Mary break up. I’m very confident it’ll happen and then we can hang out a lot more. I want to get into a conversation that mentions Atom & His Package so I can see if she wants to go on the 25th. But that’s not really giant on my mind. I’m scared I’m gonna fail Spanish and Anatomy. That will be really bad for college. My biggest fear is being rejected, but I doubt it will happen. I’m going to have to study my ass off to do well in those classes. I hate the so-called “punks” in my school. They’re just another clique that excludes anyone who doesn’t dress like they do or talk like they do. And they’re assholes. On the bus, Lynch tapping me while I try to sleep and coughing all over, that’s fucking annoying. I can’t get too deep though, because I need sleep so I can wake up early to fail my Spanish quiz. Oh yeah, that damn “Christina” song is stuck in my head and it makes me think of Mary. I hate that. But if I were with her, I would love it. Kinda funny.

This is probably a bit, uhm, random, but...
If I'm ever in social studies class, and the, er, teacher/professor asks what "anarchy" is, I will, erm, look xir in the eye, whisper "It means that I litter." and, well, probably just sit there and grin like an, ahem, idiot.
