Been up to a lot
Working on the next comic it's a lot longer than the first two
Also trying not to force myself to work on it when I'm not feeling it as to not ruin my motivation all together 😭
Life's also just been chaotic so shits taking forever
Anyways messing around with artstyle that's fun.

conclusion
go see this exhibition. even if it's not your thing.
it's good to know where we came from and how we got here. go look at how it all started. understanding why we did things the way we used to helps you grow and develop. we used to think concrete, stable methods were the way to create art.
but knowledge nor art is ever THAT finite, or solid. or concrete. or ice cream.
so look back at the past.
but keep going.

Hi there, I found your blog by searching Gillian Genser's name in hopes of finding someone who posts about art studio safety. My sister is an art student at a school with horrible "old school" notions about safety. She asked a teacher to talk about safety and the next day her teacher dipped her hand in solvent and said "you don't need gloves." So I was wondering, do you know of any good posters or zines she could print out to raise awareness to the students at her school? She's already extremely educated on safety herself because it's a personal priority, I'm mostly looking for consciousness raising material, something she could put up in her art studio or leave in common areas. Thank you so much, and no worries if you can't think of anything.
I hope you don’t mind me posting this publicly. I don’t have any resources immediately available, but I know I have a few mutuals who really care about this too, so I’m hoping one of them has something.
If you’re on Instagram and not too shy, I recommend asking @auarts_print_media if they have any resources to share. The studio tech for printmaking at AUArts runs that account and she is passionate about proper safety/ppe usage especially in shared studio spaces. There was signage up in there when I worked out of that studio, and I’ve seen her post things on the Instagram before. It’s entirely possible she has a ton of resources and she’s always been very generous about sharing stuff.
Also just, in general, at everyone, a reminder, please use proper PPE when working with art materials. Do not assume your material is safe because other people are being casual with it. Look it up. There are more fun ways to poison yourself: don’t waste it on sticking your hand in solvent.

To the People That Raised Me.
I was born in the best possible time for an aspiring artist. With the amount of resources and content on the internet it feels like cheating. Its so important to me to acknowledge that the content wouldn't be there without people willing to share their work, make videos or blogs, and teach courses for free! I know there are so many people that have shared their work, and I couldn't talk about all of them, and don't know them all. However, some people that I truly own to who I am, and where I'm taking my life deserve a mention.
DrawingWiffWaffles (Rin), She did a lot of work in her sketchbook, mostly little challenges and character design. I was so obsessed with her work, I think her influence can still be seen when I draw. There was something in the aesthetic of her work that I just loved so much. I'm not sure how shes doing and she hasn't posted in a while but I really hope that shes doing the absolute best ever!!!
Lavendertowne (Haley), Again someone so iconic! I think she was one of my biggest influences into starting digital art. Her art style is so recognizable, and while her work is so stylized her foundations are very solid. Lavendertowne went to ACAD or (AuArts) being a major reason I considered art school (and have now applied). Her content talking about art school was so helpful in my decisions.
Jazza (Josiah), ugh where to start this man taught me so much. When I was first watching him the content was mostly challenges being illustrative work and tutorials. However his work has branched off so much, working with so many mediums and doing crazy big projects! Such a true creative, always pushing limits
I'm not going to go crazy into detail about my childhood but it wasn't the greatest, there weren't really people around to hang out with. So even beyond the amount of good that these people did for my art career, I also want to say thank you, really to everyone that made content. To people that were willing to put themselves on the internet thank you for making sure I wasn't alone.
I could keep going with so many people and I probably will do another post talking about more artists that have impacted me. As this is just the tiniest portion of people that I watched. (I had a lot of free time.)
