So living 3 hours from campus and attending a church out of the Greenville orbit (but still fully in the BJU network) must make it hard to Vice Provost.
Dr. Cormican has only been announced in the confidential faculty meetings. Randy Page of BJU Public Relations has not announced her administrative status.
Tumblr media
Go look.
Why? Why are they hiding a credentialed expert in higher education under a bushel?

Last November, Bob Jones University’s Randy Page was gushing with the Greenville News about a million-dollar gift to the BJU Scholarship Fund. USA Today picked up the story, so several other news sources document it.
A $1 million gift to the Bob Jones University Scholarship fund will help provide need-based scholarships for BJU students.
The donation comes from a local businessman and his wife who've asked to remain anonymous.
BJU President Steve Pettit said he is humbled by the gift which will go to help students from the Upstate pursue degrees for ministry around the world.
Ninety-five percent of BJU students who apply for grants and scholarships receive some assistance, according to John Matthews, BJU vice president for advancement and alumni relations.
During the last academic year, the scholarship fund raised $4.3 million and handed out close to 1,100 scholarships.
Did you catch that? The donation came from “a local businessman and his wife who’ve asked to remain anonymous.”
Tumblr media
Anonymous.
They asked BJU to keep their identities anonymous. Incognito. Undisclosed. Secret.
And then April 7th the BJU “friends and family” received the latest alumni newsletter.

This explains a lot about @WYFFNews4’ poor coverage of #YeahTHATGreenvile’s albatross.

Community Service is a good thing, yes? Channeling the boundless energy of college kids into helping others is a win-win.
Once-Presbyterian school Trinity University describes community service as follows:
Service is one way in which Trinity University supports and challenges students in their development as individuals and as responsible global citizens. At Trinity, students can find service projects ranging from on campus to across the globe.
We acknowledge that service has three main components: education, volunteerism, and reflection. These three components can be seen and experienced in our service programs.
How does Bob Jones University define community service? Mark Vowels, the head of the newly-minted Center for Global Opportunities lays it out:
Community service focuses on projects that extend the recognition of the University.
What? Read it again.
Tumblr media
No, Mr. Vowels. That’s not community service. Community services focuses on . . . you know, the community? And helping our world be a better place.
What you’re describing is marketing?
More proof of how egocentric BJU’s world is.

Since Randy Page has been at the public relations’ helm at Bob Jones University, there’s been no shortage of pinwheels and flags and banners for students to sign.
That’s why Wut’s project is so important -- so that we can remember the truth instead of the spin. #NeverForget
Let’s not forget the narratives we use to project guilt on to everybody else. Let’s remember exactly how we wriggle out of blame in order to leave ourselves righteous and pure.
The tragedy of 9/11 happened just before Chapel on that terrible Tuesday. For those of us on campus, myself included, we processed the events corporately in the FMA. I remember students sobbing as they walked into Chapel, having just heard the news from a classmate. We were all in shock, like the entire nation.
Bob Jones III was preaching that morning. You can hear the whole sermon yourself at sermonaudio.com. I’ve downloaded it in case BJU deletes it from the site. The date on the file is 9/12 because that’s when they broadcast the audio on WMUU, but Bob III clearly makes reference to the “attacks” “this morning.”
If we really want to remember that day, it’s not with make-shift sheet metal memorials and countless flags. We have to remember the narrative we use to explain the attacks to ourselves.
Bob III described the events (necessary), urged us all to seek the truth (good advice), trashed the media (sigh), read Psalm 91 (good choice), prayed (definitely), and ended with our singing “Be Strong in the Lord” (great choice).
In between the Psalm and the song, we get Bob’s real view. We get the lens through which he sees national tragedy. Yes, there’s Pearl Harbor and Dunkirk, but why is this happening to America now? Hollywood, Jim Beam, and teh gay, of course.
Lord, Thou wilt not spare America so that the pornographers and the Hollywood people and the liquor distillers and the perverts should be able to have their destructive freedoms, their corruptive freedoms, their death-dealing freedoms. Surely Lord, we do not deserve Your mercy; we deserve Your judgment.
That’s how Bob Jones University processes terrible events -- by projecting the horrific terror onto those who are far away and distant from itself.
Remember that when you see those flags on Wade Hampton Boulevard.

Who is the “new” Greenville GOP inviting to take the place of these limited government advocates?
“Those removed have mostly been replaced by Bob Jones-affiliated people or Bob Jones students,” one of our sources says.
This is how they’ve always behaved, FITSNews. For decades!

Bob Jones University has not yet officially announced this change over from Larry Jackson and John Yessa and David Dersch to John Lewis and Ed Cone and Gary Thompson.
WutBJU has. But BJU hasn’t. Outside of Hantz Bernard’s Facebook post and the Alumni Association’s share.
What’s the deal, BJU? Why aren’t you talking about it?

A Bob Jones University employee has been spending his time this month creating and using an imposter account on YikYak. It violates YikYak rules, but his 2014 stunt violated Twitter rules too.
Ridiculously, the employee is claiming that I am simultaneously two different YikYak identities -- Frsc2CmHrBJ and tripstyxsez.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am neither. This is my YikYak identity. I just posted this minutes ago:

The employee started this four days ago, earned himself a YikYak suspension, and now he’s back.

Grow up, Randy. This isn’t dignified or respectable. Your thuggery is petty and immature. You sound like your presidential candidate.
