Aeroporto segue operando normalmente

Whitesides steps down from Virgin Galactic

Whitesides steps down from Virgin Galactic

WASHINGTON — The longtime chief executive of Virgin Galactic, who moved into a new position at the company last year, has left the company but will continue to be an adviser to it.
According to company sources, Whitesides said he was leaving the position of Virgin Galactic’s chief space officer to pursue unspecified opportunities in the “public service sector.” The company didn’t announce his departure, but he is no longer listed as a member of Virgin Galactic’s leadership team on its website. The publicly traded company did not make a formal announcement because Whitesides was not considered an officer of the company.
In an email, Whitesides confirmed he was leaving Virgin Galactic but noted he would remain chair of its new Space Advisory Board. That board, which the company announced the formation of Feb. 9, includes former astronauts Chris Hadfield and Sandy Magnus as well as David Whelan, the chief scientist of Cubic Corporation who previously worked at Boeing and DARPA.
The board will provide advice to Virgin Galactic as it prepares to move into commercial operations, including discussing technical and operational best practices, the company explained in its announcement of the board last month. The board “will assist senior management with the mission of opening space for all,” Whitesides said in that statement.
Whitesides joined Virgin Galactic in 2010 as chief executive after serving as chief of staff at NASA Headquarters. He had an earlier connection to the company as part of the first group of customers for its SpaceShipTwo suborbital spaceplane.
In July 2020, Virgin Galactic hired Michael Colglazier, a former Disney executive, as its new CEO. The company created a new position of “chief space officer” for Whitesides, giving him the responsibility of overseeing some of the company’s long-term plans in high-speed point-to-point travel and orbital spaceflight.
“By creating this new role of a chief space officer, we’re going to allow George the ability to dedicate his time and skill sets to brings these really important areas forward,” Chamath Palihapitiya, chairman of Virgin Galactic, said in a call with analysts in July about the leadership change.
Whitesides’s departure is part of a broader change in corporate leadership at Virgin Galactic recently. On Feb. 25, the company announced it was hiring a new chief financial officer, Doug Ahrens. He was previously chief executive of a semiconductor company, Mellanox, that was acquired in 2020. He succeeds Jon Campagna, who left the company effective March 1.
Virgin Galactic also announced Feb. 25 the hiring of two new executives. Swami Iyer will be the new president of aerospace systems at the company and Stephen Justice its new vice president of engineering. Iyer was previously president of GKN Advanced Defense Systems and earlier worked on aerospace programs at Honeywell Aerospace, Ultra Electronics and IAI. Justice worked for four decades at Lockheed Martin Skunk Works, including as director of advanced systems development.
“We are attracting incredible talent to join Virgin Galactic as we accelerate our path to commercialization,” Colglazier said in a Feb. 25 earnings call, discussing the hiring of Ahrens, Iyer and Justice, as well as a group of advisers to support the company’s work on its customer experience and marketing strategy.
Enrico Palermo, who had been chief operating officer of Virgin Galactic and president of The Spaceship Company, the subsidiary responsible for manufacturing SpaceShipTwo, left the company in late 2020 to return to his native Australia as the new head of the Australian Space Agency. Palermo had worked at Virgin Galactic since 2006.
The Spaceship Company was originally a joint venture between Virgin Galactic and Scaled Composites, later becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of Virgin Galactic. Colglazier said in the earnings call that, as part of an internal realignment in December, it “retired The Spaceship Company brand.”

👉👉 Visit Movies Store https://ift.tt/2Ld1uFE Really named Claudine Huzé, Marie Dubois started her career at the École de la rue Blanche (ENSATT) and continued her training by taking Henri Rollan's lessons at the Conservatoire. Learning both classical theater and modern comedy, the actress made her debut on the boards in the plays Hyménée, Le Misanthrope, Les Sorcières de Salem or Boeing-Boeing. She was noticed by François Truffaut during his appearances in the television series The Camera explores time and The Last Five Minutes. The director then hired him for his second feature film Tirez sur le pianiste, a sort of homage to the noir films of the 1940s. François Truffaut also offered the actress her pseudonym, Marie Dubois, in reference to the heroine of the eponymous novel by Jacques Audiberti (1952). It was during the shooting of this first feature that the first symptoms of multiple sclerosis appeared. The actress discovers her illness but decides to devote herself to her career. She thus turned, in 1961, under the direction of Jean-Luc Godard in Une Femme est une femme, the director's first color film, where she gives, for the first time, a reply to Jean-Paul Belmondo, with whom she will shoot 4 times. Marie Dubois then goes on to her second film under the direction of François Truffaut, Jules and Jim. Continuing with the young directors of the Nouvelle Vague, the actress enters Roger Vadim's La Ronde without forgetting the theater and the television films. In 1961, Marie Dubois married the actor and agent (co-founder of the agency Artmedia, the largest agency of actors in France) Serge Rousseau. The actress continues with more popular films such as Le Monocle noir by Georges Lautner, Week-end à Zuydcoote by Henri Verneuil (for which she finds Belmondo) and La Chasse à l'Homme by Edouard Molinaro. Rewarded in 1963 with the Suzanne Bianchetti Prize, the following year she embodied the daughter of Jean Gabin in L'Age ingrat by Gilles Grangier and was the only female figure in Robert Enrico's Grand Gueules in which she faced Lino Ventura and Bourvil . Her incredible freshness and playfulness make her an essential actress of the 1960s. Brilliantly alternating popular films and feature films from the Nouvelle Vague, she appeared in 1965 on the screen of Fêtes galantes by René Clair, in the TV film by Marie Curie - A Certain Young Girl and the Thief by Louis Malle with Jean-Paul Belmondo. Adapted from the novel by Georges Darien, an anarchic author whose works are greatly marked by a feeling of revolt against the established order, this film is a real reflection on money and the power it confers. Made popular thanks to Oury's film, she continued with La Maison des Bories by Jacques Doniol-Valcroze in which she cheated on her husband (Maurice Garrel) with the young Mathieu Carrière, then received the prize for interpretation from the National Academy of cinema for her role in Michel Soutter's Les Arpenteurs, which she found again two years later for L'Escapade. In 1969 she was part of the international cast of Gonflés à bloc alongside Tony Curtis. The actress then takes part in the filming of Claude Sautet's film, Vincent, François, Paul and the others, she plays Lucie, Michel Piccoli's wife, and shares the poster with Yves Montand, Serge Reggiani, Gérard Depardieu and Stéphane Audran. In 1976, Luchino Visconti made her the princess of his feature film L'Innocent. The following year, Alain Corneau offered him the role of the jealous and depressed woman of Yves Montand in La Menace. A role for which the actress won the César for Best Supporting Actress. But more than twenty years after the first symptoms, her illness catches up with her, Marie Dubois is forced to slow down her activities. The actress then appears only in supporting roles: The friend of Vincent de Pierre Granier-Deferre, Mon Oncle d'Amérique (Alain Resnais), Boy! of Claude Sautet for which she finds Yves Montand, in which she lodges at home the young Richard Anconina and participates in the Grand Guignol of Jean Marboeuf. In 1986, she was named to the César for Best Actress in a supporting role for Descente aux enfers by Francis Girod. She turned under the direction of Claude Chabrol for Rien ne va plus in 1997 and, four years later, engaged in the fight against multiple sclerosis in a prevention campaign carried out by Alain Corneau. Lunging and Groundwork
Today began with some lunging instructed by me, performed by Kismet and Nikolette. Kismet came to us after the old owner couldn't keep him anymore, and as we have bred him we were only happy to take him back. Right now we are schooling him, so he can get a small rider at some point. He is a good boy, but has a lot of energy.
And as you can see on this picture, he might have too much energy - today at least xD He just ran and ran around and around for a while, before Nikolette got him cooled down enough to let him loose.
Which she did. He started bucking and kicking for a while, and then he was able to trot nicely again. He ran and bucked for quite a while though, as he can't run much in the pasture at the moment, as it's quite slippery from the ice and snow, so he really seemed to need a good galop!
When he has used the excess energy Nikolette was able to bring him back into the lunge, and give him some more schooling. After that I left Niko to her own devices, and left the indoor arena to go get another horse who needed training.
This is baby Cisco. He has just been taken from his mother at 7 months old, and brought into one of the too male pastures along with young Captain and the experienced and much older Rico. He seems to really have taken to Captain - who is roughly 1.5 years older than he is. And while Cisco has taken to Captain, Captain has really taken to Rico, whom he leans against if he gets unsure of anything.
When I called all three came running towards me, and I was able to snap this pretty, snowy picture! I am really adoring Cisco's colour against both his new blanket and the snow. He is a lovely boy!
And so I brought him directly to the arena. Nikolette was walking around with Kismet in short leadrope for a few minutes before she left the arena to Cisco and I.
Pulling off his blanket I did some light groundwork with him. Mostly moving forward and backwards by light pressure. He did a very good job he did!
Then I let him loose in the arena for a while. He enjoyed stretching his legs a lot, and switched between canter and galop time and time again. He is a lovely little lad, and I snapped a few pretty pictures!
He seemed slightly spooked though when Calypso entered the arena, and I had to speak softly to him to get him back on the lead, so I could put the blanket on him again and then lead him to the pasture.
He was able to shake of the anxiety fairly quickly though, so I am sure that with training he will end up not reacting to that at all!

Yo, Paleoliberals! You can’t go home again! (not really)
David Ignatius reports that Charles Peters, long-time editor of the Washington Monthly and, not incidentally, one-time mentor/editor to David, has the solution to the Democrats’ electoral woes, presented in his new book We Do Our Part.
In writing the book, Charlie gets in line behind paleolibs Thomas “What's the Matter with Kansas?” Frank and Michael “Up From Conservatism” Lind, not to mention Robert Reich and a host of others, about whom I am too lazy to be funny. The gist of all these books is that “we” need to go back to the good old days of Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman lunch-bucket liberalism when the Democrats stood up for the little guy and won all the elections, instead of all this Chablis-sippin’ bicoastal milquetoast1 bullshit that doesn’t help anyone with less than five mil in his portfolio.
Well, I agree with about 40% of their rap, but since I live two blocks from Dupont Circle and listen to opera, when I’m not watching it, I’m not crazy about their tone. Still, they make some good points. I’ll get to those later, however, since it’s more important to talk about the ways in which we differ.
My basic point is that we can’t go back to the good old days and (point two, actually) we shouldn’t want to. The New Deal liberalism that all these dudes love so much what “Recovering Republican” Chris Ladd has shrewdly labeled “white socialism”. The original Social Security Act did not apply to farm workers (i.e., share croppers and others) or servants, cleverly excluding the majority of the black population. Eligibility for unemployment insurance was governed by state law, ensuring that lazy good for nothings (like, you know, black people) would be kept off the rolls. Employer-provided health insurance, which came in during World War II and was officially recognized as a non-taxable benefit in the early 1950s, was effectively restricted to white-collar (that is to say, white) employees and workers in union shops, found only in the North. Farm subsidies poured cash into the pockets of land owners, who were almost all white as well.
The GI Bill provided extensive benefits to veterans, but blacks were largely left out, for a variety of reasons. Thanks to substandard educational opportunities, and non-existent health care, many blacks could not meet minimum standards for service. In addition, blacks were more than three times as likely as whites to receive a “not honorable” discharge, disqualifying them from any benefits.
Blacks were defenseless against this discrimination both because of their numbers (about 15% of the population) and because most of them lived in the South, where they couldn’t vote. As blacks began to move north their economic and political situation improved, but as Democrats moved to expand “white socialism” to include everyone, the New Deal coalition cracked. Peters, Frank, Lind, et al. simply won’t recognize that the white working class stopped voting reliably Democratic when the Democratic Party leadership made clear its intention to make blacks full participants in the social programs once reserved informally but effectively for whites. The “Tea Party” was very largely born as a reaction to passage of the Affordable Care Act, which effectively turned “white socialism” into “socialism”.
Peters and the rest of the paleolibs gloss over the "white only" aspect of the New Deal reforms because what they remember is not the thirties but the fifties and sixties, when the post-war boom did float all boats, although, even then, white boats rose faster than black ones. The paleolibs believe we can go back to the way we were in a sheer act of will, despite the fact that none of the "objective factors", to sound a bit Marxist, that led to the postwar boom exist today. After WWII, the U.S. had been starved for investment in such basic areas as housing for a good fifteen years. Consumers had spent the war buying savings bonds, and now they were ready to spend. The population was growing rapidly, and so was the education level. Above all else, the United States had the only "advanced" economy in the world--American goods were the best, and the cheapest, that you could buy.
It didn’t matter that the U.S. economy was heavily cartelized. Even though there was little real competition, U.S. goods were the best, and the cheapest in the world. It didn't matter, very much, that they could have been appreciably better, and cheaper. The dominant companies, like U.S. Steel, General Motors, Boeing, etc. could enjoy monopoly profits, and pay monopoly wages to their unionized workers, and still provide their customers with unbeatable "bargains".
Those happy days are gone forever. It's true that the U.S. infrastructure could stand some sprucing up, but there's nothing like the underinvestment that once existed. The population isn't growing the way it did after WWII, and it probably never will. Educational attainment in the U.S. soared through the seventies, but has plateaued ever since. Most of all, of course, we are no longer a unique economy. Other nations have learned all our tricks. We can't change monopoly prices anymore, because we aren't a monopoly.
The paleolibs don't want to hear this. They aren't interested in economics. Their model of the economy is the "Walter Reuther" model. Reuther was the long-time head of the United Auto Workers. His model was simple: the bosses have an infinite amount of money. No matter how high wages and benefits go, they can always go higher.
According to Ignatius (remember him?), Charlie Peters (remember him?) praises, then faults, Bill Clinton for talking the talk in his 1992 campaign, but then not walking the walk once elected. That’s because in 1992 Bill Clinton ran more or less on a platform of white socialism, promising to “fight for the people who work hard and play by the rules” (that is to say, not lazy blacks), to “end welfare as we know it in two years” (time to go to work, lazy black people!), along with a middle-class tax cut (so the government will stop giving your money to lazy black people).
I agree with Peters’ complaint that Clinton effectively “went Hollywood” when virtually his first act after taking office was to attempt to integrate homosexuals into the military.2 But, as everyone knows, the real catastrophe was the health care bill. Yes, Hillary’s incompetence was a dead weight, but the real killer was the simple fact that a great many working-class whites don’t think health care should be a right. It should, somehow, be “earned”. And they don’t want their “earned” benefits reduced or taxed to pay for the benefits of lazy black people.
The paleolibs simply can’t accept the fact that many working class whites are racist (racist and now xenophobic). They continually moan that white voters are being “tricked” by Republicans when they aren’t being offended by the politically correct shenanigans of the left. Well, there’s something to the latter, but working class whites aren’t being tricked when they vote for Republicans who talk about how much they hate big government. They know that “big government” is code for welfare and foreign aid, not for “white socialism”. Ronald Reagan, who never got tired of telling that hilarious “joke” “The scariest sentence in the English language is ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help you’” is the same Ronald Reagan who “saved” both Social Security and Medicare (programs that he loathed) and also boasted in 1986 that his administration had given more money to farmers than all previous administrations combined!3
The paleolibs don’t know why the Democrats keep losing and they don’t know how the Democrats can start winning. Where do we agree? We agree that economic inequality in the U.S. is growing, that this is a bad thing, and that “markets”, of which I am much fonder than they, can’t solve the problem all by themselves. So what can be done, and, more to the point, what should be done?
First of all, markets can help. Specifically, liberals in enclaves like New York, San Francisco, Washington DC, et al. should lower the drawbridges and drain the moats. Forget about “smart growth” and go in for “real growth”. Get rid of rent control, height restrictions, and all (or most) of the restrictions that discourage new housing construction. Just let it happen, without planning!
Yes, you read that right. Stop being like the Old Man of Sung, who used to pull on his rice plants to make them grow faster, and just let construction happen. The cost of living will drop, and employment and wages will rise. Yes, your condo/exquisite townhouse will lose value, and you may even lose your view as well (I have a view and I would hate to lose it, but, yes, I would make the sacrifice). The heart-felt cry “That’s why I moved here in the first place!” (so don’t change anything) is not the clincher that most people take it to be. According to a paper by Chang-Tai Hsieh and Enrico Moretti, reducing geezer-friendly restrictions on housing in New York, San Francisco, and San Jose alone would boost the U.S. Gross Domestic Product by 9.5%.
Beyond that (and a few other things), we should address economic inequality directly through the earned income tax credit, discussed by Cass Sunstein here. The EITC could be greatly expanded and, as Cass explains, simplified as well. Unlike food stamps and other economic distribution programs, the EITC is both invisible and portable.
Sadly, to go back to my less than modest proposal for relatively unrestricted housing development in prosperous urban areas, I think it’s very unlikely that anal-retentive condo-canyon liberals will wise up to the fact “letting go” is not seldom the truest wisdom when it comes to economic development. Their hatred of the profit motive constantly leads them to cut off their nose to spite their face. But at least my dream would work. Which is more than I can say for the paleolibs.
“Milquetoast” as an epithet was fading even when I was a kid. “Casper Milquetoast” was a once very famous newspaper cartoon, drawn by H. T. Webster. Mr. Milquetoast, as you have no doubt gathered, was a fastidious sissy. The strip ended in 1953, and Word can still spell his name. Impressive! ↩︎
Actually, I don’t think Clinton “effectively” went Hollywood. I think he literally went Hollywood. I think he tried to bring homosexuals into the military because Barbra Streisand asked him to. ↩︎
Ronnie learned that price supports are sacred the hard way. In the 1976 Iowa Caucus he was holding forth on the merits of the free market when the assembled farmers asked his position on “parity” (i.e., price supports). “You don’t understand,” Reagan told them. “I want to give you the benefits of the free market.” “We don’t give a damn about the free market!” the farmers told him. “Where do you stand on parity?” “Well, I don’t know what ‘parity’ means,” lied Ronald Reagan the coward. ↩︎

DAMN HE LOOKS LIKE HIS DAD
Cap (BOE Captain) is growing into a very handsome yearling. He looks so much like his dad these days, growing whiter and whiter each passing day. He looks like his dad before he grew completely white, and it's so nice to have Cap in the stables now that Commander has retired, and has gone to the retirement barns.
We are very happy to have an offspring of Commander's and Canasta's, as he is so handsome. Yes, it's always sad to see a beautiful coat like his grey out (Silver Black is sooo stunning), but at the same time it's also nice to see him evolve and grow. And even if his headmarking is very lovely, it will be nice to see if he grows completely white faster than his father, or at the same pace.
We will see!
The KWPN stallions (and gelding) are also enjoying the pasture and the snow. This is how they came running, when me and Will went to the pasture to give them their midday hay.
Rico (BOE Enrico) seems to have taken the lead with young boy Cap (BOE Captain) and then we have Como-oh (BOE Commodor), Obaldo (Obaldo von der Eiche), then Jet (Jet Gold HF) and as the last one we have Lupin aka. Sailor (BOE Sailor Moon, who seems to have taken last place to look out for the herd from behind.
It seems like Rico and Lupin are sharing the leaderrole very nicely. Rico leads the horses, and Lupin looks out for them from affare. Which is a very nice role distribution.
FEATURING: BOE Enrico, BOE Captain, BOE Commodor, Obaldo von der Eiche, Jet Gold HF & BOE Sailor Moon.

INDOOR ARENA!
I promised my daughter that I would look for an indoor arena we could lease ourself into in some way or another, and after a few days of looking (it really wasn't more than that) I found one! It's a top modern double arena (as they called it) owned by a big stable nearby that is downsizing and has no use for such a big arena.
It didn't take me a long time to sign the contract, and begin moving our stuff into the arena. All it was was two fenced arenas and that was about that. We have added jumps, letters for the dressage one, a moveable stall, gates and so on, and I am really happy with it!
I hope we can buy it in near future, but for now we are leasing it.
After filling up the arena, we brought some of the horses to it. Including our new rider Rakel's private horse Rico (BOE Enrico). I brought Sailor with me, as he needed some jumping training to get ready for the last shows of the year, and I took Calypso with me, who would be giving Obaldo (Obaldo von der Eiche) some basic training. He be needing that for sure, as he hasn't done much this last month or so xD
It was nice to watch, when I was not jumping, how well behaved Rico seemed to be. He is an older gelding, yet not that experienced yet, at least not in Dressage. But he has done a lot of jumping, and I want Rakel to represent us with him in the shows with our other horses. He is a beauty, and we want more of his kind at our stable.
She also told me a secret. He has THREE (3) straws in a freezer at a vet here on Sjaelland, and I am allowed to have at least two of them, if she is compensated with being allowed to use the third straw with one of our mares and own that foal. And I did indeed say that I would think about that, but I would need him to show results this next year of 2024, before I made her any promises.
Then I turned my attention back at jumping. We had William out here in the indoor arena with us, so we could get some pictures taken of the arena from the inside, for our website.
He took this beautiful picture of his little sister and Obaldo. I remember that moment pretty clearly.
"Go Ma!" Calypso yelled, as I approached the obstacle, pointing at me while doing so.
I just rolled my eyes at my daughter's yelling. How many times hadn't I told her not to yell? Yet, she did it this time, because she was proud of me, so I would pretend like I didn't notice it.
For some reason Felina was out with her camera too, and she got this picture from another angle of me and Sailor approaching the obstacle, and Rakel trotting on Rico and Calypso with Obaldo in the background.

, e composto da altri otto velisti: Francesco Falcetelli, Enrico Clementi, Michela Giuliodori, Alessandro Coacci, Roberto Lo Monaco, Francesco Secchiaroli, Giuseppe Lepretti e Michele Maggi.
