“Principal Weems? There's someone here for you.”
Larissa almost snapped her neck as she looked up towards the door. This is it. Maybe this was you. Maybe this was the part where you talk to her and you both make up.
“Send them in. Thank you.” Larissa told her assistant whilst dusting off invisible dust from her dress. God was she nervous.
Larissa waited until the visitor opened the door to her office, but alas she was disappointed. It was Marilyn that wanted to talk to her. About renovations for the greenhouse. Truth be told, Larissa didn't care. Marilyn could do anything to the greenhouse, though her decisions did need Larissa's approval, which she could do by email.
As Marilyn left, Larissa sighed and stretched her neck. It's been weeks since she began to drown herself in work. Albeit she didn't need to, she wanted to. She made sure to do anything, though unnecessary, to forget about what she did. She felt angry at herself. But she can't change what she did. And truthfully, she didn't want to. If she could talk to you, she can explain everything.
A knock snapped her out of her reverie. “Principal Weems? There's someone here for you. Her name's Andy.”
Andy? She didn't know any Andy's in her life. Though this must be the new board member that needed to talk to her. Ah yes, she was going to schedule a meeting later but it seems the board is one step ahead of her.
“Let them in, please. Thanks.”
Within a second, the visitor opened her office door and smiled. “Have a seat! You must be the new board member!”
The visitor, Andy, nodded in gratitude and sat in front of Larissa. “Uh–” Andy cleared her throat. “I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not a part of the board.”
Larissa blinked in surprise and sat straight. ‘If Andy isn't part of the board then...’ And it clicked. Larissa's eyes widened as she looked at the unfamiliar yet familiar face in front of her. She's met Andy before, at the Weathervane, with you. Hugging you. Talking with you. Laughing with you.
Clearing her throat, Larissa pursed her lips and asked. “Then, Ms. Andy, what is your purpose here at Nevermore?”
Andy gave a chuckle at the coldness the red-lipped woman was giving her. She didn't know why, but she can guess. “Well, to start, I'm Andy. Y/N's personal assistant–” Larissa scoffed at the statement. They sure weren't acting as colleagues when she saw them at the Weathervane.
“Truly, Y/N and I are just colleagues, friends, yes, you can say that. But that's just it.” Andy explained as she watched Larissa's face. She could see the different emotions running in her mind.
“As far as I am concerned, I don't think that's the reason why you are here, yes?” Larissa questioned Andy. She didn't give a damn about any explanation coming from the brunette in front of her. She wanted to talk to you. Not your assistant.
Andy sighed, this was going to be a lot harder than she thought. “Larissa, I have been with Y/N since you turned her down.” she watched the blonde wince at her choice of words. ”And I want to tell you. Take it.” Andy got a velvet box and laid it down on the blonde's desk. “If she gives you her heart, don't you break it.”
Larissa let out a breath as she gazed at the box in front of her. Choosing to open it, she gasped at its content. The box had two rings in it, not just any rings, one was Y/N's family heirloom that she told Larissa about. And the other was a paper ring, the same ones she made for Y/N.
“Larissa, I have been hopelessly in love with Y/N the moment she crashed into me.” The blonde snapped her eyes to look at the brunette in front of her. “From the moment she spilled her coffee on my button up. From the moment I looked into her eyes–” Larissa tightened her grip on the velvet box she was holding. If this was a visit to brag to her that you and Andy are an item now, she wouldn't be capable of not doing anything crass to the brunette.
“I have been hopelessly in love with my boss, with Y/N.” Andy felt a shudder go through her. She never imagined she would confess her feelings for Y/N to Y/N's ex-girlfriend.
“And after you turned her down, I admit I was ecstatic at first, but as I saw her.” Andy bit her lip as her eyes glistened. “Larissa, she was a walking zombie. She didn't feel anything. And I know, because I can feel it.”
Larissa blinked, trying to bury the lump in her throat as she listened to Andy's confession. “I–”
Andy gave Larissa a smile and took the blonde's hand. “You don't have to explain anything to me.” She squeezed Larissa's hand. “But please, fix it. Fix her.”
---
Larissa has never been nervous like this before. She wasn't nervous when she was brought to the former principal's office to give her the mantle. She wasn't nervous when she tried to make it through the Rave'n without a date. Yet, when it came to you, everything for her became a blur. She was always nervous around you. That she would fuck up. And that she did. And now, she was nervous, more than she could imagine.
The sound of footsteps coming down the stairs and towards the door made her want to turn around and go back. But she made a promise to herself. As the door opened, your wide eyes were the first one noticed. How it held shock and then anger as you processed her presence in front of your house.
“Hi.” Larissa breathed.
You purse your lips and shake your head then laugh. “Fucking pills giving me hallucinations.” You tried to shut the door yet Larissa jammed her foot before it closed.
“Y/N. You are not hallucinating. Please let me in.” Larissa held the doorknob in hopes of you letting her in.
“For what? So that you can turn me down all over again?” She winced at your tone. You and Andy did have something in common, and it was straightforwardness, despite being both gay.
“Please, let me in.” She whispered, begging for you to take her in again.
With your internal armor breaking, you sighed and opened the door wide enough for her to step inside. “Sit wherever you want.” You pointed to the couches in front of you.
As she sat on the loveseat near her, you chose to sit on the armchair in front of her. The coffee table separating both of you. “Talk.”
Larissa chewed her lip and sighed. It was now or never. “I– Y/N, I am sorry. I'm sorry for turning you down. For interrupting you with a rejection. And I know anything I say to explain it will never be enough for you and for me. It won't be enough to wash the pain I've caused to you away. But please understand that I had to. I had to reject it. I am a walking red flag, Y/N. I am a people pleaser, to the point that I do not give a fuck about anything and anyone around me just to please everyone. I am self-centered, I get jealous easily, I am unstable, Y/N. I can't give that burden to you.”
The silence was too much to bear. Here she was, giving you every chance to yell at her, scream at her, cry because of her. But all you did was tilt your head.
“Who said I wanted that burden all to myself?” You asked her in a whisper as you raised your eyebrows in mockery.
Releasing a breath, you laughed at her words. “God– I–” Standing up, you put your hands on your hips and closed your eyes in exasperation.
Larissa blinked away the tears and balled her fists. If this was needed for her to be forgiven, she would take it. Take the mockery, take the laughs, take the punch of being the butt of the joke.
“–issa! Larissa!” She snapped her eyes towards you and saw you a foot away from her.
“Good, I have your attention now.” You ran your hand through your hair. “Larissa, I didn't propose to you because I wanted to be burdened by all your insecurities. I proposed to you because I wanted you to fight it with me.” You leaned towards her and wiped the tear that made its way down her face. “Larissa you are the best thing that I had, and I'll love you even if you don't love me like that.”
Cupping her face with your hands, you planted a kiss on her forehead. And that was all it took Larissa to let her tears out. Larissa became a sobbing mess in your arms.
Burying your face in her hair, you let your tears out and embraced her tightly. “Gods, I've missed this.”
Pulling away gently, Larissa cupped your face in her hands. “I'm sorry. I love you, not because you love me like that, but because I love you.” She whispered. Afraid that any noise would break you apart. That she would wake up and realize that this was all a dream.
Giving a watery smile, you replied. “It's done now, my love.” You leaned into her and brushed your lips with hers.
