Butler's Dream - Home Screen Interaction
"What sort of dream will Master have tonight? I hope its a wonderful dream that makes you reluctant to wake up."
"A dream that I want to have?"
Berrian:
"Well..." "Of course I'd like a dream spent surrounded with my favorite black tea." "B-but... I'd also like for Master to be there too" "A-apologies! It wasn't meant with any odd intentions." "I'm a butler... so I simply want to support my Master even in a dream."

Rono:
"Huh, what do I want to see?" "I'd want to sample a whole variety of amazing food from everywhere!" "Ah, but eating it alone would be kinda boring..." "If Master was eating with me... that'd be an even better dream!" "Ack, s-sorry. I didn't mean it in any weird way or anything." "I'm a butler... Even in a dream, I just want to help my Master out..."

Bastien:
"Hmmm... Let's see..." "A dream where I get to fill my stomach with meat dishes that Rono cooked..." "It would be nice... if Master was also with me..." "S-sorry, I might have said to much just then. Please forget about it..."

Haures:
"Hmm... This may be a little childish but..." "A dream which features a dog... would be very nice..." "A-and... I'd like it if Master was there" "I-I'm sorry...! I didn't mean for it to come off like that!" "As a butler... I simply want to be of aid my Master, even in a dream."

Fennesz:
"Hmm... A dream where I can read for the whole day is tempting but..." "I-if its permissible, I'd like Master to be there with me... Or something like that..." "I-I'm sorry! I just suddenly... something so brazen...!" "T-that wasn't said with any ulterior motives or anything..." "I'm a butler so... I'd like to assist my Master, even in a dream"

Boschi:
"Hmm... I usually don't dream at all but..." "If Master were to be in it, it'd might be a pretty fun dream"

Ammon:
"Hmm... Maybe a dream where I'm surrounded by a field of beautiful roses?" "And of course, if Master were to show up, I'd be plenty happy♪" "Lets take a stroll and smell the roses together♪" "I'll teach you a whole lot of things!"

Lucas:
"Hmm... Being able to sit down and read a medical publication paired with a delicious wine is a wonderful dream but..." "Ah yes, I'd like to have a dream where Master makes an appearance in. " "Drinking with Master and engaging in stimulating conversations together sounds like a wonderful time."

Nac:
"Yes... This is quite the question that you have posed..." "But if there is one thing that I can say..." "If I could see Master's own dreams... I'd be delighted" "I am, at my core, someone who does not posses many desires or wishes of my own but..." "Various things seem to be the exception when it concerns you..." "Oh my, it seems that I may have spoken a little too much just now." "Please disregard my ramblings just now, Master."

Lamli:
"Do you even need to ask? Of course I'd die to see a dream where I can have my lovely Master alllll to myself!" "Wandering around with Master~! Stargazing~!" "Fufufu~Just imagining it has got me smiling all wide and giddy!"

Miyaji:
"Hmm... Well it might be quite troublesome to say but..." "Speaking frankly, one where Master appears in, maybe?" "If that were to happen... what a wonderful dream that would be"

Flure:
"Hmm.... Let's see..." "A dream where I'm surrounded by lovely clothes would be wonderful!" "I'd love to dress you up in so many different outfits..."

Lato:
"Hmm. A parsley field where I can eat all the parsley I want would be nice." "There's Miyaji-sensei and Flure..." "Ah! That's right. Master is also invited." "Lets enjoy a parsley party together okay, Master?"

Hanamaru:
"I dunno... Huh, nothing really comes to mind." "Well, it might be a bit dark but... a dream featuring my hometown, maybe?" "I'd show you all the sights and sounds of the place that I grew up with..." "..." "Its something that I could never do in reality so..." "But if its a dream, there's a chance of it coming true..." "Oops, that got kinda dark for a sec. Sorry, Master."

Yuhan:
"Let's see... A dream where I'm in nestled within a beautiful grove of peach trees, perhaps. " "In my home village, there were quite a few peach trees planted around the area. I used to spend a lot of time among them when I was younger." "Just looking at the beautiful scenery can soothe even the most troubled hearts." "And, I'd like for Master to share this dream with me." "I will always yearn to spend time with the ones closest to my heart."

Teddy:
"Hmm.... A dream where I can see the sunrise, maybe?" "Seeing a sunrise in your dreams is quite the auspicious sign, it means that your luck will steadily rise!" "With that rising luck, good things are also more likely to happen!" "And I'd like it if Master could also be there as well." "I really enjoy the time I spend with Master. Even in a dream, if I can experience that, then that would be supper lucky!"

Bellen:
"... The same dream I have every night, I suppose." "... Just like now, I'm allowed to be with Master..." "And with Berrian and the others by my side..." "I'm much more happy living out this reality than I ever could be in a dream. Every day is like a miracle for me." "I can't begin think... of anything that I would even wish for."

Shiro:
"If your dreams turn sour, its a sign that your stress is building." "So it better to have good dreams." "A dream that I'd like to have?" "......... Nothing in particular." "......" "..." "What? Why are you looking at me with such incessant eyes?" "Hah..." "Frankly speaking, I'd like to dream of the past." "Those who I can not meet in reality, can be communed with in dreams." ".... hah. I've spoken of such dull topics." "Forget it."

Lucretia felt like she was really on cloud nine right now. She was sure that nothing could ever top the feeling that she felt right now. It sure as hell helped with whatever self-doubt she'd had following everyone she spoke to. Nettelia had no faith in her. Bebe didn't either. It was only the Asphodel and the one person that had always had her back regardless of anything that could ever happen. And she would always have his as well. "My little croissant." She ran up to him and grabbed his shades off his face to put on her own. "Tell me how fucking cool I looked doing that. Come on, you know it was awesome."

Somehow, it felt like the Asphodel had not let her go yet. She didn't really expect it from Bastien given their several thousand years of friendship, but the rest of them just confused her. She had turned on them and made a choice that would probably backfire on her eventually. August was...well, currently in a padded room. Yurena had an entire coven to run now even though it was just one of her. Yurena. There was a part of her that was annoyed by the lots they had been given. Where the witch had seemed to be pardoned, she had gotten nothing. She was here sulking with no real goal other than to just keep living her life. And that fucking sucked. "Bastien, I don't know what your coven is supposed to do now. I'm not a part of it anymore. Why don't you as the Pythia?"
where. his house? her house? where do they live now?? who. @lulucretias
The Asphodel coven was no more. The Necronomicon was no more. While his magic remained, his oracle abilities still within his grasp, Bastien hadn't the slightest idea what to actually do. Pythia was still with them, likely within the depths of the shadows, and it was also likely something he should be doing. Blood was on his hands, of those that had remained dead and those that had come back when the timelines had been twisted. Who was to say that revenge was not on the table? That justice should have been served more heavily to many of the Asphodel members. Maybe that's why he was pacing around the living room, an unlit cigarette nearly destroyed between his fingers, "What are we supposed to do? Stand around with our dicks in our hands?" That was the saying, was it not?

Cordonian Royal Palace, Throne Room
The expansive polished marble floors of the antechamber were illuminated by the warm glow of intricately crafted chandeliers suspended from a high false ceiling. The Kings guards stood at attention near the grand doors leading into the throne room.
Liam, followed closely by Bastien, walked briskly down a private corridor leading into that antechamber. A man on a mission, he walked with an air of unwavering confidence.
Memories of the many times he had followed his father and watched in stealth from the alcoves as nobles received an audience from their king, flashed in his mind.
His father always used the antechamber to his advantage.
When the nobles petitioned the king, father was in the position to personally witness each and every behavior and attitude. He gained an insight into what they were like – a window to view their hidden motives.
Liam had seen the subtle power dynamics unfurl in this very room, the balance of persuasion and the art of diplomacy that his father had mastered. It was in this antechamber that young Liam learned the essence of rulership—not just in grand declarations, but in the quiet observations of human nature. The marble floors and the chandeliers provided a backdrop to the lessons that would shape his future. As he approached the throne room, he felt the responsibility of his father's legacy.
The prince was now the crown prince and soon to be king.
These thoughts swirled in Liam's mind as he made his way through the antechamber, each step weighed down by the expectations placed upon him. He could not help but reflect on the quiet strength and discernment his father had displayed in this very room, a silent mentor in the art of governance. The moment was heavy with the anticipation of his own legacy forming, a delicate balance of continuing his father's teachings while forging his own path. The gleaming expanse of marble beneath his feet felt like a mirror of his own resolve, solid yet untested, as he approached the threshold of the throne room where his destiny awaited.
"Just a little to your left, son, so you can better see the main entrance," his father would say when he saw me watching from my hiding spot.
Whether the noble was belligerent or friendly, or how quickly they would push his cause or cower for the sake of their ego. I was never supposed to inherit the throne, but my father made sure to train both my brother and myself for when we had the opportunity to ascend, nonetheless. And it seems now I finally will get to step into his shoes.
His father sat on the king's throne as Liam approached the dais.
“Hello, Father." Liam bowed slightly in respect.
“Liam," his father acknowledged, as he looked at his heir intently.
"You wished to have a private word with me?" Liam looked into his father's eyes, sensing the gravity of the conversation that was to unfold. He admired the way his father always carried the weight of the realm with such resilience and wisdom.
Constantine took a deep breath, his gaze softening momentarily as he regarded his youngest son, acknowledging the significance of this private counsel.
"Liam, what we decide here will shape the future of our kingdom. It is not merely about the actions of one man, but about the message we send to all who look to us for guidance and justice."
"Yes, Father," Liam replied, his voice steady.
"This has weighed heavily upon me, especially since my advisors and I did not foresee this, and I blame myself for what has befallen this fine young woman" Constantine nodded in reflection.
Liam drew a breath, not certain where this line of reasoning would go.
"I take responsibility," Constantine said.
"Lord Neville Vancoeur is from an old and respected house who has never showed signs of unrest with other members of the court. While he should be punished severely, if we banish the Vancoeurs from Cordonia we may ignite further discord which we cannot afford at this moment."
Constantine let out a heavy sigh and continued.
"Lord Neville Vancoeur has caused much sorrow and shame upon himself, but not his father and family. For their service and loyalty to the crown, they shall remain in their land and hold on to their titles," King Constantine announced.
Constantine stood and began to pace back and forth.
"It would behoove me to discuss how best to treat the future Earl of Cormery Isle. " Constantine continued.
"To deprive their House of its land, wealth and title would send a grave message to the nobles not aligned with you," he began.
Liam met his father's gaze, feeling the weight of the decision they were about to make.
"Father, I understand the complexity of this situation and the balance we must maintain. We need to show both justice and mercy, but also ensure the stability of our kingdom," Liam asserted.
Constantine nodded, a mixture of pride and solemnity in his eyes. "A wise perspective, my son," he said, pausing in his pacing. "We shall address Lord Neville's actions with the gravity they deserve, but we will also protect the integrity of the Vancoeur family and our realm."
Liam felt a resolve solidify within him. "Then let us proceed with a measured approach, one that serves both justice and the greater good of Cordonia," Liam concluded, feeling the mantle of leadership settling more firmly on his shoulders.
"Furthermore, if Lord Neville's crimes are treated with leniency, we would not look well to the people and your popularity will take a further tumble. After you assume the throne, the key will be to restore the people's faith in our leadership.
"With your advisement I see the path forward." Liam nodded, still looking to his father.
Constantine smiled as he regarded his son with pride, "You're ready."
"I am." Liam nodded and approached the dais, turning the chair around with the ease of familiarity. He placed a hand upon it, the chair's surface cool and sturdy.
He looked back at his father as Constantine nodded with approval.
"Now, send him in," the King commanded to the guards. Liam's pulse quickened with the prospect of facing Neville for the first time since the charity polo match.
Constantine turned to go but suddenly stopped.
"Oh. And Liam?" Constantine paused, considering his words.
"Yes, father?"
Constantine teased, “don’t mess up your proposal tonight because quality queen material is precious and rare.”
Liam chuckled lightly, feeling a rare moment of light-heartedness from his father's jest. "I'll keep that in mind, father," he replied, his gaze returning to the throne room's grand doors.
As the guards moved to obey the King's command, Liam centered himself, readying for the confrontation ahead. The grandeur of the throne room seemed to fade into the background as he focused on the task at hand. This was more than a mere trial; it was a test of his leadership and resolve.
The heavy doors creaked open, and Neville, with an air of arrogance, entered the room. Liam's thoughts briefly flashed to Sophie, her gentle smile and unwavering support a source of strength for him. He could not afford to lose his composure now—not when so much was at stake.
Taking another deep breath, he felt a calm determination settle over him. ‘Face him with the dignity of a king,’ he reminded himself, his pulse steadying as Neville approached with a smug expression, clearly oblivious to the gravity of the situation.
"Your Highness," Neville greeted with a bow that dripped with false humility, his eyes betraying his arrogance.
Liam did not waste any time. "Your behavior is an absolute disgrace," he declared, his voice firm and resolute. "A Cordonian gentleman would never treat a woman the way you treated Lady Taylor, a noblewoman, a daughter of the House of Ramsford."
Neville's smirk widened, crossing his arms defiantly. "No, not a true gentleman," he retorted, his tone mocking.
Liam's fists clenched, but he kept his composure. "What were you thinking, Lord Neville? That you could do anything you wished and escape consequences because of your noble title?" he demanded, his gaze unwavering.
"And to say and do such derogatory things about a member of court? Words spoken against my chosen consort, whether or not I am king, are considered treasonous and punishable by banishment or death." Liam paused, his anger veiled and controlled, but palpable. "Tell me. Was it worth it?"
Liam stared down at Neville, the weight of his authority heavy in the air. This was his moment to prove his mettle as a leader, and he would not falter.
Liam glanced down, clenching his fists in his lap.
Neville's face reddened and the facade crumbled, "Worth it? If it means ridding us of that common tart?”
Liam leapt to his feet and strode to grab Neville by the collar and slammed him against a nearby pillar. One arm reined Neville's throat steadily, the other firmly in place on his shoulder, immobilizing him.
"How dare you say that!" Liam's voice was deep and dangerous, full of fury that could not be ignored.
Neville's face suddenly went white, as he felt the intense anger and irresistible force emanating from Liam. He struggled but found that he could not move at all.
"I... I..." Neville's tongue began to knot. He had never seen Liam so angry. For the first time, he realized that he was in front of a man who was not just a gentle, friendly prince, but the future king, with absolute power and strength.
In Liam’s mind, he challenged his thoughts ...
If I weren't being held in check by a lifetime of restraint, I could...
No. Sophie has dealt with this, and she has asked me to follow through in a way that does justice to the ideals she stands for. It would not be doing her honor if I killed Neville with my own two hands.
Liam pushed Neville up on the pillar again and released the strangling hold of the forearm pressed against his neck. Neville stumbled to his feet, his knees buckling and his hand pressed tightly against his throat as he caught his breath.
"Your arrogance, selfishness, and contemptible behavior have no place in Cordonia," Liam snarled, his voice steely and cold.
Neville, cowed by Liam's demeanor and restraining his anger at the same time, wisely stayed silent, a look of despair slowly appearing on his face.
***
After being removed from court,
Neville was banished to his estate, stripped of his title, and confined to his lands indefinitely. The Vancoeur family, in their desperation to still be in royal favor, offered their total allegiance and cooperation. Constantine ordered them to comply, but there would always be suspicion and distrust that would follow them for years to come.
And, although Liam knew it would not completely heal the scars left on Sophie, at least she was avenged and her name honored, her integrity and strength being still unblemished.
As Liam walked down the long, opulent hallways of the palace, the tension in his body loosening with each step. A faint sense of satisfaction crept into his heart, knowing he had done what Sophie would have wanted, and more.
***
Sophie descended the grand staircase of the palace, her sleeveless, A-line summer dress flowed behind her as she headed toward the royal dining room.
The aroma of freshly baked bread and roasted vegetables filled the air, making her stomach rumble in anticipation. As she stepped into the dining room, her face lit up with a genuine smile. Seated at the grand mahogany table were Daniel and Max, chatting animatedly. Daniel noticed her first and stood up, his ever-charming grin widening.
“Squirrell! Finally, someone to balance out Max’s questionable humor,” Daniel teased, earning a playful scoff from Max. Max leaned back in his chair, a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. “Ignore him, Sophie. He’s just jealous that I’m the life of the palace.” Sophie chuckled as she took her seat between them. “It’s good to see you both here. I was beginning to think I’d be dining alone.” Daniel poured her a glass of sparkling water. “Not today. We figured you could use some good company after everything that’s happened lately.” The three of them shared laughter and lighthearted conversation as lunch was served—a feast of grilled salmon, roasted vegetables, and a choice of desserts that Sophie eyed with delight. For a while, the weight of royal responsibilities and recent events faded, replaced by the warmth of friendship and camaraderie.
Hana stepped into the elegant dining room, her soft, flowing dress swishing gently with her movements. She glanced around the room, a warm smile spreading across her face as she spotted Sophie chatting animatedly with a tall man dressed in a crisp white shirt and dark trousers. Beside him stood another man with an easygoing charm, his broad smile lighting up the room. Sophie turned as Hana approached, her eyes brightening.
“Hana! I’m so glad you made it!” she exclaimed, pulling her into a warm embrace. “Of course,” Hana replied softly, her melodic voice carrying a note of excitement. “You know I wouldn’t miss a chance to spend time with you.” Sophie beamed and turned to the two men. “Hana, I’d like you to meet my friends. This is Daniel,” she gestured to the first man, “and this is Maxwell.”
Daniel stepped forward first, offering a polite nod and an easy smile. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Hana. Sophie speaks highly of you.”
Hana felt a slight blush creep up her cheeks as she shook his hand. “The pleasure is mine, Daniel. Sophie has mentioned you as well—thank you for always looking out for her.”
Daniel chuckled, his eyes glinting with warmth. “She makes it interesting. She’s a force to be reckoned with.”
Before Hana could respond, Maxwell bounded over, his energy almost tangible. “Hana! It’s so great to finally meet you!” he said, his enthusiasm infectious. He extended his hand but quickly decided on a cheerful hug instead.
Hana let out a soft laugh, surprised but not uncomfortable. “Maxwell, it’s nice to meet you too. Sophie told me you’re the life of the party.”
“She flatters me,” Maxwell said with a wink, “but it’s true.”
The group laughed, and the atmosphere became lively as they fell into easy conversation. Maxwell’s humorous anecdotes and Daniel’s quieter but equally engaging remarks quickly put Hana at ease.
As the afternoon went on, Hana found herself charmed by Daniel’s thoughtful insights and Maxwell’s contagious energy. Sophie watched her friends with a smile, happy to see Hana seamlessly integrating into her close circle.
The sun was beginning its slow descent, casting a golden glow over the royal stables as Sophie, Hana, Maxwell, and Daniel stepped outside. The scent of fresh hay and the soft nickering of horses filled the air, creating a serene atmosphere.
Marabelle stood next to a wooden fence, in her glossy black coat shining in the sunlight. Sophie reached out to gently stroke her muzzle, her affection clear. “She’s as beautiful as ever,” Sophie said, her voice filled with warmth.
“She’s magnificent,” Hana agreed, admiring the horse’s elegance.
Before Sophie could respond, the sound of approaching voices drew their attention. From the far end of the stables, Drake appeared, his usual rugged demeanor softened by the sight of the group. Walking beside him, Melanie was a confident young woman with a warm smile, her auburn hair catching the sunlight. Walking alongside them them was a dark-haired woman, a woman, Sophie noted a sharp style hinting at a New York, big city style.
Standing beside Sophie, Mara suddenly appeared beside Sophie.
“Where did you come from? I thought you were still inside the palace!”
“I do my best to stay out of my charges’ ways. But seeing as this is your first excursion outside of the palace, I wanted to confirm that your security is intact.”
Sophie smiled softly, “thank you, Mara. Prince Liam was adament that I needed protection at all times.”
“I know it can be hard to let your guard down after what the court has been through...but just remember, I’ve got your back from here on out.”
Sophie felt a sense of reassurance at Mara's words, knowing her security detail was always in place. “Thank you!”
“Just doing my job, my lady.”
With a grateful nod, she turned back to the group.
Drake raised a hand in greeting. “Well, well, looks like we’re not the only ones enjoying the stables today.”
Sophie turned and smiled. “Drake, Melanie, it’s good to see you.” Her gaze shifted to the third member of their party. “And you must be Riley?” Sophie extended a hand, which Riley took with a firm shake.
“Nice to meet you, Sophie,” Riley said with a bright smile. “Melanie’s been telling me all about life here, and I have to admit, I’m intrigued.”
Melanie laughed softly. “Riley’s been trying to convince me to visit New York again, but I thought it was only fair to show her Cordonia first.”
Turning to her friends, Sophie encouraged them to join her.
Hana stepped forward gracefully. “Welcome to Cordonia, Riley. I am Hana Lee.”
Maxwell, ever the entertainer, flashed his signature grin. “And I’m Maxwell Beaumont, the life of any party you’ll ever attend.”
Riley laughed, clearly charmed. “Good to know. I’m going to hold you to that.”
Daniel gave a polite nod. “Daniel Barrett. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
As the group exchanged introductions, Marabelle nudged Sophie, drawing Riley’s attention.
“Is that your horse?” Riley asked, stepping closer.
“Yes, this is Marabelle,” Sophie said with pride. “Would you like to meet her?”
Riley’s eyes lit up. “I’d love to.”
As Sophie guided Riley to meet Marabelle, the others fell into easy conversation. Drake leaned against the stable door, seeing the scene with his typical reserved demeanor, while Melanie and Hana discussed the beauty of the Cordonian countryside. Maxwell, as usual, kept the mood lively, regaling the group with tales of his adventures, earning smiles and laughter from everyone.
***
The royal gym was a quiet sanctuary, tucked away in the palace’s lower levels. Liam strode in, still wearing the weight of his meeting with Neville. He had hoped an intense workout would help him clear his head. After changing into gym shorts, he noticed the faint hum of machines and the rhythmic clinking of weights that echoed through the spacious room.
To his surprise, Leo was already there, effortlessly lifting weights. His older brother looked as casual as ever in a loose t-shirt and gym shorts, his carefree demeanor a stark contrast to Liam’s tension.
“Well, well, look who decided to grace the gym with his royal presence,” Leo teased, setting down the dumbbells.
Liam smirked but didn’t respond at once, heading toward the treadmill. As he started jogging, Leo joined him, leaning casually on the machine next to him.
“So,” Leo began, “how’d your meeting with Neville go? He seemed like a real piece of work at the polo match.”
Liam exhaled sharply, his jaw tightening. “He hasn’t changed. Still as arrogant and entitled as ever. He thinks he can dictate terms just because he’s part of an old noble family.”
Leo chuckled. “Classic Neville. Always a legend in his own mind.” He paused, his tone softening. “But seriously, don’t let him get under your skin. You’ve got enough on your plate without dealing with his nonsense.”
Liam nodded, his pace quickening on the treadmill. “I know, but it’s not just about him. It’s about what he stands for—everything I’m trying to modernize in Cordonia.”
Leo gave a wry smile. “Well, at least you’re fighting the good fight. Meanwhile, I’m over here trying to figure out how to be… not a Neville.”
Liam slowed his treadmill, glancing at his brother with a raised brow. “You mean because of your decision to abdicate?”
“Yeah,” Leo admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. “Katie’s helped me see things differently. She’s… grounded me in a way I didn’t think was possible. For the first time, I feel like I’m not just running from something, but toward something.”
Liam stepped off the treadmill, grabbing a towel. “She sounds like the perfect partner for you.”
“She is,” Leo said, a rare seriousness in his tone. “Which is why I want you to officiate the wedding.”
Liam froze mid-swipe, surprised. “Me? Officiate your wedding?”
Leo grinned. “Who better? You’re the future king, and you’re my brother. It would mean a lot to me—and to Katie.”
Since Leo and Katie were married by a Justice of the peace and on a cruise ship, Regina had insisted a more formal venue in Cordonia.
Liam studied his brother for a moment before a smile crept onto his face. “I’d be honored, Leo.”
Leo clapped him on the shoulder. “Thanks, bro. Now, let’s get back to the workout before you get all emotional on me.”
The two brothers shared a rare laugh, the weight of their royal responsibilities momentarily forgotten as they fell into an easy rhythm, pushing each other through their sets. The gym had become more than a place to work out—it was a space for understanding and camaraderie between two brothers navigating the complexities of royalty and life.
***
Sophie waved her farewells to the group, as Mara led Sophie back to the palace.
Sophie took in the scenery around her, the rich tapestries and intricate architecture of the palace a stark contrast to the casual farewell she had just shared. Walking alongside Mara, she couldn’t help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. Every step brought her closer to the core of royal life, the heartbeat of the palace where decisions were made and legacies were forged. As they passed through the opulent hallways, Mara's steady presence was a comforting guide. They rounded a corner and entered a quieter wing, the air filled with a sense of history and gravitas.
Mara led Sophie down a corridor adorned with portraits of past monarchs, their stern gazes seeming to follow her every move. The soft glow of candlelight created an ambiance of solemnity and anticipation. They paused before a large, ornately carved door. Mara gave her an encouraging nod before opening it, revealing Liam's study.
“I thought it was time you saw this,” he announce in greeting, opening the door and gesturing for her to enter.
“My love, come on in,” Liam said with a grin, opening the door wide for Sophie to step through. The room is a cozy blend of modern and vintage, with chic wooden panels, stylish furniture, and walls adorned with contemporary art. Shelves packed with books line one wall, while a sleek desk with a laptop takes center stage. Sunlight poured in through large windows, adding a warm glow to the room's comfortable and inviting atmosphere.
Sophie’s breath catches as she steps inside. “It’s beautiful,” she murmurs, running her fingers along the edge of the desk.
Liam watched her intently, his eyes warm. “This room has seen countless decisions that shaped Cordonia. Today, it’s where I want to share something important with you.”
They sit on a small leather couch near the fireplace. Liam reaches for her hands, his touch steady and reassuring.
“I met with Neville earlier today,” he begins, his voice calm but firm. “After the incident at the polo match, I demanded accountability. Neville is no longer a member of court and has been banished to the Cormery Isle. He will no longer stand for Cordonia in any official role.”
Relief flooded Sophie’s face, but her brow furrowed. “What about…his behavior? Will he face further consequences?”
“He’s been banned from participating in any future events, and an official apology will be issued to you,” Liam assured her. “His actions were unacceptable, and I won’t tolerate anyone harming you.”
Sophie squeezed his hand, her heart swelling at his protectiveness. “Thank you, Liam. It means so much to me that you stood up for me.”
His gaze softened, as he brushed a strand of hair from her face. “Always, Sophie.”
***
As they exited the palace, Sophie noticed a fleet of royal cars waiting. Liam helped her into one, and they’re soon enroute to the airport.
“I thought we were going to Italy,” Sophie remarked, a hint of disappointment in her tone.
Liam chuckled, a glint of mischief in his eyes. “Patience, my love. Italy can wait a little while longer. I promise, tonight will be worth it.”
At the airport, the royal jet was ready to whisk them to Portavira. Once there, they were to be escorted to the royal yacht, a stunning vessel gleaming in the Mediterranean sun was in wait.
Once inside, Sophie marveled at the yacht’s grandeur as it sets sail. The warm sea breeze ruffled her hair, and she leaned against the railing, gazing at the horizon.
Liam joined her, slipping an arm around her waist. “I thought this would be the perfect setting for a little surprise,” he said cryptically.
As night falls, the yacht’s deck transformed into a magical haven. String lights twinkled above, and a candlelit dinner is set up with an unobstructed view of the stars over the sea.
Sophie turned to Liam, her eyes wide. “You did all this?”
“For you,” he replied, his voice full of emotion.
After dinner, Liam stood and took her hand and led her to the bow of the yacht. The Italian coastline glimmered faintly in the distance.
“Sophie,” he began, dropping to one knee as he held a small velvet box.
Her hands flewo to her mouth, tears pooling in her eyes.
"Sophie, the day I met you, I knew there was something special about you. Something different from anyone I've ever met. I'm drawn to you, the sound of your laughter, the mischievous twinkle in your eye when you are plotting something." Sophie giggled when Liam raised an eyebrow in jest.
There are nights when my thoughts run wild with all the things I would like to share with you, a world to be conquered, side by side. But tonight, in the peaceful serenity and light of the moon and sea, there is only one question on my mind.
"You are selfless, willing to do things to help others even when it goes against what you want to do. You fight for what you want and have determination beyond measure. Your strength and beauty astound me, and my heart races every time you touch me
. I feel every movement you make as if it is a current flowing through my veins.
Sophie Taylor, will you be my wife and queen? Please marry me, I am and will always be completely and forever yours." Liam swallows hard, his jaw tight, fear showing in his eyes.
"I will! Yes. A thousand times yes!" Sophie exclaimed. She watched with tears running down her cheeks as Liam slid the ring onto her ring finger and he stands, drawing her to his chest. She hugs his neck and draws his mouth to her. She can barely breathe. His hands explore the curve of her back and slide up the length of her spine. Liam's kiss is insistent, demanding and unrelenting.
She runs her fingers into the waves of his hair, kissing him softly with her entire being. Her skin tingles in anticipation of his caress. His breath mingles with hers, the sound of his breathing in her ear. He breathes her name, moving his mouth along her cheek to her lips. He tastes her and it's enough.
He pulls away and brings her down to earth with the whisper of his lips close to her ear. "Do you realize the gift you just gave me, Lady Sophia?"
"The best one I'll ever receive," he continues as his kisses fall like raindrops on the nape of her neck, his breath sending tremors through her body.
"Well, now that I've got a hold of you, Liam, I have no intentions of letting you go any time soon."

[Event Story] Third Anniversary -Mark of Glory-

Events Referenced: Ice Castle of Thaw, 2nd Anniversary -Tarot of Destiny- Episode 2 is also referenced.

Chapter 3: Memorable Places
With Shira-san guiding us, we entered the Ice Palace… And we went to the guest rooms where we stayed before.
Contrary to the icy interior… The inside of the room was as warm as it was before.
While we warmed ourselves by the fireplace, Shira-san prepared hot milk tea for us.
Shira: …Hm. So you’re going to deliver an official letter in the Northern Lands.
Bastien: Yeah. Usually we would have gone straight there by carriage, but…
Bastien: …The clouds seemed off. I thought it’d be better to stop somewhere.
Berrien: Bastien’s feeling was right. It’s snowing heavily outside.
> That’s amazing, Bastien.
Bastien: …Well, I’ve been caught in the snow before. I’m just learning from my past experience.
Bastien: It was probably just a fluke…
Lono: Hehe. Well, aren’t you being humble?
Bastien: In the face of nature, humans are a tiny existence.
Bastien: Lono, you should try experiencing a natural disaster too. You’ll get what I mean if you do.
Lono: I don’t want to get it. And hey! Don’t go around recommending natural disasters to people!
Shira: …Anyways, you should stay here until the snowstorm is over. You’re not in a rush, right?
Bastien: Yeah. We owe you one.
Shira: Nah, it’s fine. You guys helped us out before.
Shira: So you didn’t come here to take Yukino back… I’m a bit relieved.
> Take her back…?
Muu: Huh…? Does that mean Yukino-sama is here too…?
Shira: Mhm. …To be more accurate, she’s been in the room for a while now.
Shira: …Yukino. That’s enough. You can come out from behind the curtains now.
Woman’s Voice: Kyaa! D-Don’t expose me, Shira!
Woman’s Voice: I was trying to figure out a good time to come out…
> This voice is…
Shira: …Your milk tea will get cold. Come on now.
Berrien: I see… I did notice that there was an extra cup.
Shira-san was facing towards the curtains, trying to persuade her. Then from behind the curtains, a familiar young woman came out.
Lady Yukino: ……Ahem.
Lady Yukino: My! If it isn’t the Devil Butler’s Lord!
Lady Yukino: There is another familiar face here too… Thank you for your assistance at that time.
> I-It’s been a while.
Bastien: Hm… So you’re here too; that’s unexpected.
Lono: Anyways… Why were you hiding behind the curtains?
Lady Yukino: B-Because… I thought my family asked you to bring me back to them…
Berrien: That means… Your parents are against you staying at this mansion.
Lady Yukino: Yes, that’s right! My parents are unbelievably obstinate!
Lady Yukino: Can you believe it~~!? Shira and I have suffered so much since then…!
Lono: Ouch… Her voice is ringing in my ears…
Then, Yukino-sama told us about how she came to stay at the Ice Palace.
In short, her parents were against their relationship… And to rebel, Yukino-sama has been repeatedly running away from home.
Shira: …Well, I understand that your parents are worried. It’s about their precious daughter’s life after all.
Lady Yukino: It’s because it’s about their precious daughter’s life that they should respect my choice! They can’t keep treating me like a child forever!
Shira: Yes, yes, I know. When the snow stops, let’s go see your parents again.
Shira: …Let’s keep persuading them until they accept us. It won’t be easy, but I was prepared for this from the start.
Lady Yukino: …Yeah. Okay…
Muu: Fufu… You two are really close!
Bastien: It may be hard, but… We’re rooting for you.
> I’m sure things will work out.
Lady Yukino: Fufu, thanks. You have my thanks.
And so it was decided that we’ll stay here until the snow stops…
After having dinner with everyone… I returned to my room and enjoyed chatting with the butlers.
Muu: Fufu… We had to change our plans a little because of the snow, but…
Muu: Thanks to that… We got to come to the Ice Palace! I’m glad!
Berrien: Yes. I’m very happy that I got to go to one of Aruji-sama’s memorable places.
> Memorable places, huh…
Lono: Yeah, the amount of memorable places increases as we take on more requests.
Bastien: Yeah. It’s been almost three years since we met Aruji-sama.
Bastien: Every time I go to a nostalgic place, I can really feel how fast time has gone by… It makes me a bit happy.
Muu: Yeah! I get what you mean!
Muu: Ah, by the way. Speaking of memorable places, what comes to mind for everyone?
Muu: It’s probably this Ice Palace for Bastien, right?
Bastien: Yeah… The first places that come to mind are here and…
Bastien: The view from that night on the snowy mountain when I was caught in that snowstorm.
> The night on the snowy mountain…?
Muu: Ah… s-sorry. Did I bring up some bad memories…?
Bastien: No, you didn’t. It’s actually a very important memory to me.
Bastien: I still feel bad that I made Aruji-sama worried, but…
Bastien: Since that experience… I’ve stopped underestimating nature.
Berrien: Fufu… Thanks to that, today we’re staying somewhere warm while waiting for the snowstorm to pass.
Berrien: Learning from your mistakes… I think that part of you is very wonderful.
> Thanks, Bastien.
Bastien: …I should be thanking you. I really made you worried at that time.
Lono: Uh… What about you, Berrien-san?
Lono: What places are memorable to you? I’m sure you have a lot of them.
Berrien: Let’s see. Around here… it would have to be Agnome.
Muu: Agnome… That’s the village we’re heading to on the northern border.
Berrien: Yes. The first time Aruji-sama and I went there was for the investigation of the Ancient Towers.
Berrien: We rarely go to the witch clan’s territory, so… My impressions of it are still fresh and remain in my mind.
Berrien: I say that, but… We only stopped there to let the horses rest…
Berrien: Ideally, I’d like to have stayed for longer… I wanted to go around the village with Aruji-sama.
> This time I’m sure we’ll be able to take our time.
Berrien: Fufu… Yes, you’re right.
Berrien: After we give the letter to Elvira-sama… If there’s time, let’s go around the village.
Berrien: Well then… Next is Lono-kun’s turn.
Berrien: When it comes to memorable places…. What comes to mind, Lono-kun?
Lono: Huh… me?
Lono: Hmm~, let’s see… For me, it’s not anywhere near here, but…
Lono: It does have to do with witches… Last year’s trip to Maginaria left a deep impression on me.

[Story Translation] Chapter Thirty Seven - Angel's Evolution [Episode One: Part Five]
↫ previous story | story list | next story ↬
Haures:
“It's an Angel..."
Ammon:
“Ugh... What horrible timing. Just when we were about to head home too."
Boschi:
“Tsk. And it looks like there's quite a bunch of them too... What's going on with Angels nowadays?"
Haures:
“Boschi. Can you still fight?"
Boschi:
“Just who do you think you're talking to? Of course I can still fight."
Boschi:
“Master. Release our power."
Choices:
"Leave it to me...!" "Just don't push yourself too hard!"
You:
“Come! Sworn friend of the Darkness. I summon thee!”
You:
“As bound by the Devil’s Contract, release Boschi and Haures' power.”
Ammon:
“Just don't get too wild, Boschi."
Boschi:
“Yeah. Got it."
Bastien:
“I'll fight too."
Haures:
“Bastien! You should be resting."
Bastien:
“I'm not just going to sit around twiddling my thumbs while you all fight."
Bastien:
“And I... I already swore to myself that I'd protect our Master, even if it means risking my life."
Lono:
“Then I'll fight too! I can't just let you all help me and not do my part!"
Haures:
“Lono?! You too...?"
Bastien:
“Don't get left behind, Lono."
Lono:
“And don't you swing too wide, you sly fox."
Bastien:
“Ha!"
Bastien:
“Master. Release our power."
Choices:
"Work together this time!" "Go get that Angel...!"
You:
“Come! Sworn friend of the Darkness. I summon thee!”
You:
“As bound by the Devil’s Contract, release Bastien and Lono's power.”
Lono:
“Right! Let's go!"
Bastien:
“We'll be done here in no time..."
Angel:
“Die. For life..."
slash...!
Angel:
“D..Die... D-die..."
Bastien's sword sliced through the Angel's body...
It exploded into a bright light, before disappearing without leaving a trace.
Bastien:
“The next one's coming..."
Lono:
“Okay! You take the guy on the right!"
Lono:
“Oi, Bastien! You're swingin' too wide again!"
Bastien:
“Ugh... My bad."
Ammon:
“What's going on with those two? They're moving differently from usual."
Fennesz:
“They're matching their movements to one another! They're actually covering for one another."
Haures:
“Since when could they fight together like this?"
Boschi:
“Looks like our services aren't needed..."
Boschi:
“*yawns* I'm tired..."
Lono:
“Is that as fast as you can go, you dumb fox?!"
Bastien:
“If I go any faster you won't be able to keep up. Unless that's what you want?"
Lono:
“Now you've done it. It's a bet! Don't underestimate me, Bastien!"
Angel:
“Die. For life..."
slash...!
-A Few Minutes Later-
Bastien:
“huff... puff..."
Lono:
“huff... huff..."
Ammon:
“Looks like they got most of them in the end, huh?"
Fennesz:
“You two are amazing!"
Haures:
“I had no idea the two of you could be this strong if you worked together. That was some marvelous teamwork, you two."
Lono:
“huff... huff..."
Lono:
“Looks like... Bastien was able to... keep up with me, somehow..."
Lono:
“I guess it's a good think I stuck to his level."
Bastien:
“huff... huff..."
Bastien:
“Don't get it twister... I didn't even use 10% of my strength... I was the one stooping to your level..."
Lono:
“Stop lyin'! You were definitely trying your hardest!"
Bastien:
“I'm not the sort of person to tell lies."
Lono:
“Stop tryin' to make yourself look cool!"
Bastien:
“What did you say?!"
Haures:
“You two..."
Ammon:
“Oh dear. Looks like they're all back to normal."
Fennesz:
“But this is good, isn't it Haures? They were able to work together."
Haures:
“Yes. It's still a work in progress, though."
Haures:
“If they carry on like this, it'll make Angel Hunting much easier."
Fennesz:
“You're right. This really is a step in the right direction."
Haures:
“Yes."
Muu:
“Phew. I was really worried about how it would turn out at first."
Muu:
“What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, I guess!"
Choices:
"Looks like this hurdle has been crossed!" "I'm glad they're friends again."
Berrien:
“Now then, Master. Let us actually make our way back home now."
Muu:
“I'm pooped... I can't want to get into bed and sleep..."
Mysterious Man:
“Oh my. You defeated them all already?"
Muu:
“AH?! Who's there?!"
Boschi:
“Who the hell are you?!"
Mysterious Man:
“I don't think that's any way to speak to someone you've just met. Who raised you? Goodness."
Haures:
“He's flying?!"
Fennesz:
“And this light..."
Choices:
“Is he... an Angel...?"
Ammon:
“This guy?! No way. Angel's can't speak like that!"
Lono:
“Right?! I've never seen an Angel like this!"
Bastien:
“So what on earth is he...?"
Mysterious Man:
“What now? You all look shocked. Did you see something unusual?"
Berrien:
“You... What are you?"
Mysterious Man:
“Me...?"
Mysterious Man:
“Can you not tell...?"
Mysterious Man:
“I'm an Angel, of course."

Hi! Have you ever read Susanne Alleyn’s “The Executioner’s Heir?” If so, what’re your thoughts?! :D
So, I was never able to read it in full, but from what I could read. Sorry if I didn't respond earlier, I am at an anime con.
Charles-Henri being the closest to Claude as opposed to his other sibblings is realistic. Her being worldly...Yes, some executioners did attend formal events with family, but, it was in Rouen and a few decades later. And it didn't end well. In 1753, Jean-Baptiste would be better off just beating her black and green himself. The result would be the same, just he would have saved money on the ticket.
Jean-Baptiste as a family man, I like that. Like, most his kids reached adulthood, and him treating them well is more probable than winning the lottery 10 times in the row.
So, according to Pascal Bastien, Jean-Baptiste did jail time for illegally applying a retumtum and was known as a charity medic according to other historians on the Sanson. I reconstructed in 2D the Sanson house and located it...Their neighbour was the comte de Charolais, known as one of the most sadistic individuals of his time. One of his most famous prank was shoving a petard up the sex of a widow and lighting it. Plus he had a many apprentices (Trevor Rhodes) which, if the litterature on torture is anything to go with, was not conducive to a healthy environment to put it nicely. Historiography of urban French urban history and mentality consistently show that women and girls of I'll repute were particularly sexually vulnerable. Wives of executioners had to deal with being looked down for doing what most prostitutes refused : marry an executioner. So, in 1754, it's no wonder Jean-Baptiste had a stroke, especially that his daughter was becoming nubile. Jean-Baptiste was also executioner during the May 1750 riots (La Marche Rouge). That is not speaking that the current questionnaire was Jean-Baptiste Barré, his stepfather. In all likelyhood, he was abusive to Anne-Marthe based on the clues in the "Dictionnaire historique et anecdotique des bourreaux". And yeah, the two worked together. No wonder this man had a stroke in at 34/35.
Anne-Marthe is on point, although...We lack her more intrigant side.
I find 14 year old Charles to be a bit too fluffy, at least for me. His 18 year old version is the amount of spice I want. Like, he spent one to four years with a fake identity. (I talked to my professor about his calligraphy, and he was most likely Jesuit educated). According to himself, he became his father's assistant at age 12. He must have pretty traumatized. (Yeah, public executions were the norm, but seeing one's own parent do it does not have the same impact). He worked many years as an executioner barely more competent than Jack Ketch during politically troubled times and lived to his sixties.
Overall, I loved the warmth and affection.

what happened at the end of chapter 4?? im not really updated anymore due to busy schedule :/
hii, and I’d be happy to explain (*^^*)!
readers, please be aware that there are spoilers below (of chapter 4 and “wish upon a black rabbit” or 黒兎に願いを込めて event story) so proceed with discretion!
I tried my best to condense it but I wasn’t sure how far you had read, plus the story following part 3 of chapter 4 till part 5 is completely connected (in a way that you wouldn’t understand one part if you didn’t know the previous part) so I gave it my best shot! I’ll include a tldr at the very end so you can read that if you want to avoid the barrage of text; I went kinda overboard?

in chapter 4, as we know, Boschi’s demon took over him; he lost control to it. but unlike the case of Bastien, Haures and Lato where they lost control because of an emotional outburst (caused by extreme despair or rage), Boschi gave control to his demon on purpose.
(just in case if you don’t know/remember why, let me give a brief summary!)
Aruji and the second floor butlers were sent over to guard the Seirans/セイラン, a noble family in the East. this was after kidnappings and attacks were done by an unknown assailant (the white headed, elf looking guy). the stranger was specifically targeting nobles associated with the Sardis family.
while they were there, the butlers were at the same time investigating if the Seiran family had been in cahoots with the Sardis family (you know in, child trafficking and experimentation).
earlier in the chapter Boschi revealed that around 300 years ago, his mother and grandmother (who was actually his nanny) were killed on the orders of Seiran family. (that was a long story; if you want me to explain that, please send me another ask, I’ll do that separately :D!)
then skip to a week later, while Aruji and the butlers were staying at their residence (and doing their guard duties) the elf guy kidnapped the head of the Seiran family. Boschi decided he and Ammon would protect Aruji and the wife of the head of the family (while they stayed in the Seiran family’s residence), and Haures and Fennesz would leave to search for the head of the Seiran family with the help of his guards.
elf guy was targeting the families associated with Sardis. that’s because a large group of his people/compatriots went missing/were kidnapped; he suspected the Seiran family was involved with it (due to their association with the Sardis family that were publicly exposed to be carrying out human trafficking. )
it is later revealed that the Seiran family was responsible for that, in particular the wife of the head of the family (because of her twisted obsession with beauty; you’d need a separate post to understand her). she was later injured by Seraphim and killed by elf guy. unfortunately for elf guy, his people are then taken by Seraphim and Cherbim.
then Chrone/スローン attacked Aruji, Boschi and Ammon whilst this happened. however this time was different; instead of trying to kill the butlers, he was attempting to kill Aruji (so the butlers would become seriously upset/angry and thus fall under the control of their demon, fight Chrone in that state to see how strong the butlers really are. (his mission was to access the full strength of the butlers).
whilst fighting, Boschi loses his prosthetic arm protecting Aruji.
(boschi’s demon is called Zaebos/ザエボス by the way!)
Zaebos offers to give Boschi all his power for this fight (basically unlock his full potential) if Boschi agrees to give up his life to the demon (i.e die) by the end of the fight. their whole talk and meeting happens in Boschi’s subconsciousness. Boschi agrees after he loses his prosthetic arm, the incident acting as a trigger.
(he realised he and Ammon couldn’t defeat Chrone by the time Haures and Fennesz would arrive and Aruji could lose their life.).
before fully losing control to his demon (like how Bastien and the rest did), he gives Ammon a warning. then he attacks Chrone. in the end, both Ammon and Boschi managed injure Chrone enough for him to agree to leave when Seraphim asks him to (since they got an idea of how strong the devil butlers are under the influence of their demon.)

but Boschi, having lost complete control to his demon side, now attacks Ammon. Ammon, having trained with Boschi for years and years on end, well aware of Boschi’s moves and what was Boschi’s weakness in a fight (—he gets exhausted easily and rapidly loses energy to fight.), exploits this. Boschi collapses in the end, Aruji comes over and does their whole usual going into their “heart”.
this time though, when Aruji goes there, Boschi was chained to a throne (I think it was a throne?) and asleep, and Zaebos (who has the form of a leopard by the way) appeared and told Aruji that it’s no use trying to awaken Boschi because he had promised his life to him in return for power.
Aruji tries their best (which was a very emotional scene by the way, the way they kept calling out for Boschi despite Zaebos telling them that Boschi is gone for good 😭) and Boschi finally manages to hear their voice (he was in a dream-like place with his mother and grandmother, possibly passing over to the other side/about to die). he comes back and tells his demon that while he did promise to give his life to the demon, he did not specify “when” he’d give his life up (that was such a move on his part, our king ✨). so long story short, Boschi promises to give his life up to the demon when Aruji dies in the future (so he’ll die when Aruji dies.).
next thing you know, he manages to wake up with Ammon collapsed at his side. Fennesz and Haures arrive with the master of the Seiran family (who they found on their way back in a bad state). His wife, Falin is dead. there will be trials in the East to implicate the Seiran family officially.
there’s a whole mess going on with Eastern Lords Alliance but Finley will attempt his best to settle the situation; he also adds that the butlers may be asked for their assistance in the matter of finding the stranger (mr elf; please devs, give him a name already or I’ll—).
[also, I nearly forgot to add; mr elf is being suspected for the crime of killing Falin, the mistress of Seiran family since she was killed with a sword and the public believe angels would not use swords to kill, rather their light/power. in actuality, he attempted to end her life with a quick blow of his sword instead of leaving her to bleed to death from Seraphim’s attack which was from a sword.
the angels use swords now too by the way ✨ like yay, their powers weren’t enough.)
then, we’re back at devil’s palace (yay! our visit was more than a week long, less than 2 weeks, if I’m not wrong). Aruji and the second floor butlers get some much needed rest. Boschi shows Aruji their new prosthetic arm (which was made from the material of his old prosthetic arm.).
he seemed much more at peace now (but we later learn in the black bunny festival [黒兎に願いを込めて] event story that losing his prosthetic arm did trigger his memories of losing his actual arm, so now whenever he spars he gets flashbacks of Chrone cutting his prosthetic arm off. those flashbacks make him freeze up while fighting. for this reason, he trains a lot more to get over this, than he did prior to this incident.
anyhow, that event story and his card story sheds light on to boschi’s state right after chapter 4, in a bit more detail.).
lastly, Berrien visits Belen and says he hopes to be able to save Belen someday.

i read the story about 2 weeks ago; though, there’s a huge chance i might have gotten something mixed up/wrong. so feel free to correct me in the comments or send me an ask! there’s also a lot of stuff i left out because i was afraid it would get too long (it still did 😭) like about:
a: Falin/フアリン, the mistress of the Seiran family, who i’d say was the most interesting character in this chapter. i could write paragraphs upon paragraphs about her.
(i love the writing of aknk but i also believe they could have given more information on Seiran family and how they came to be what they are. They have a lot of potential for a follow up event story or even a side story. I hope in a side story we get more information or maybe in the next main story?)
b: Boschi’s past; we got a lot of information about his life and, how after everything he came to meet Berrien and became a butler.
c: Ammon! we got insight into his thoughts and feelings from when Haures became demonized, and how he feels inferior to the other butlers, how he puts less effort into training because he feels he can never reach the level Haures and Boschi are on. And so on!
d: i also skipped explaining the first two parts and a bit of part 3 of chapter 4 since you asked for the ending; (but that involved Berrien, Belen, Lono and were not exactly relevant to what happened with Boschi and the ending of chapter 4.).

Tldr: Boschi loses control to his demon after losing his prosthetic arm, he manages to defeat Chrone with the help of Ammon. Aruji brings him back from the control of his demon though ultimately he will have to give his life up to his demon the day Aruji dies. there’s investigation going on into the Seiran family, the stranger (mr elf) and his identity. his people (from the valley) are still missing because Cherubim and Seraphim took them. the butlers might get a request to aid in the investigation of mr elf.
i hope this helped (^^)! feel free to send another ask if you’re confused about something or want further explanation; i like talking about aknk so it’s no trouble for me. i hope your schedule eases up a bit, please remember to take breaks and eat/drink — have a wonderful day ✨!

#sol’s asks#a condensed mess of chapter 4 from part 3 onwards#spoiler#main story spoilers#aknk main story#aknk#akuneko#devil butler with black cat#あくねこ#akuneko chapter 4#and yay! that was my first ask!#thank you anon; I hope this helped!#feel free to shoot another ask if there’s something you’d like clarification on

Chapter 10: The Secret of the Tomb
-A few minutes later -
Yuhan: … Phew… Don't worry. It seems the evil spirit has left my body.
Yuhan: Perhaps it was overwhelmed by your force… It probably decided that fighting was useless.
Lono: I… I see… That's good, but…
Bastien: Is your body okay? Don't push yourself too hard…
Lato: Actually… Did the evil spirit really leave?
Lato: Actually, it's still controlling you… Maybe it's just pretending to be you, Yuhan…
Muu: Really? Is that so, Yuhan…?
Aruji: I believe in Yuhan
Yuhan: …Thank you, master.
Lato: …Hmm…
Lato: …I understand. If you believe in him, then I will believe in you too.
Muu: I, I believed in you from the beginning! Yuhan!
Aruji: (Oh dear…)
Bastien: …Anyway, now all we have to do is get out of here.
Yuhan: Yes. Just as Lato said, it looks like the exit is ahead
Yuhan: Although there was an unexpected turn of events… Finally…
At that moment… From behind us, we heard the groans of the mummies again.
Mummies: …Aaaaaargh…
Lono: Tch…! It's them again…
Lato: Kufufu… Thank goodness. I wanted to fight them once before escaping.
Yuhan: No, Lato! They have been cursed with immortality by the king's hex.
Yuhan: This means there's no point in trying to defeat them. We have no choice but to run.
Yuhan: Don't worry. They can't follow us into the sun.
Muu: I-is that so… You know a lot, Yuhan!
Yuhan: Yeah, I just thought of it…
Yuhan: No. The thoughts of an evil spirit flowed into my head.
Aruji: That must be it!
Lato: I see… An immortal being…
Lato: It must be very painful to never die.
Lato: Life is beautiful because it will eventually come to an end…
Lato: I understand. I will help you end your painful fate of immortality.
Aruji: Let's get away, Lato!
Lato: Why is that, master? I'm trying to save the mummies from a painful fate.
Aruji: Well, for now, anyway!
Lato: Hmm, I don't really understand, but you seem to be impatient, so I will do as you say for now.
I look back at the mummies reluctantly, pulling Lato's arm…
I have finally… made my long-awaited escape into the sunlight…
[Golda's Room at the Lodgings]
Lono: …And then, while being chased by a bunch of mummies… We somehow managed to escape.
Lono: That tomb is seriously dangerous! We should seal it off right away!
Golda: I-I see… There's a real ghost there…
Bastien: Yeah. I was skeptical of the existence of spirits at first too, but…
Bastien: I swear on this jade statue. What we experienced there was not a lie.
Bastien: There's a living witness here who was possessed by an evil spirit…
Yuhan: Ah, yeah… I see…
Lono and the others' passionate report… Lord Golda is clearly confused.
He has been giving Yuhan a lot of looks since earlier… "Tell me the truth (quickly)."
Fully understanding the meaning of those looks…
Yuhan and me lowered our eyes in silence.
Thud…Thud…
Old Man: My, my… It seems you enjoyed our tour.
Aruji: Eh? You are…
Lono: Hmm…? I feel like I've met you somewhere before…
Lono: Ah, I remember now! "You must never enter the tomb," said the old man!
Golda: …Stay put. This person is the representative of this town.
Golda: That means he is also your negotiating partner. Please do not be rude.
Muu: Really? So this old man is the most important person in town…?
Old Man: Ha ha ha… That's right.
Old Man: It was me who asked Lord Golda to send you to the "entertainment facility"… I was the one who asked him.
Bastien: An entertainment facility…? And earlier you said it was "our tour"…
Lato: Hmm… What does that mean?
Old Man: Yes, that's fine. Both Lord Golda and Yuhan seem to be having a hard time explaining it…
Old Man: As the client, I'll let you reveal the truth.
…And so the client finally tells the truth…
The butlers realize that the whole thing was a setup… Each of them has a different reaction.
Lono: Guh…! What the…
Lono: I didn't know that… I said such embarrassing things to master…
Bastien: …Humph. So there were no ghosts after all.
Lono: What do you mean "as expected"! I swear by the jade statue earlier!
Lato: What a shame. Those mummies were fakes…
Muu: I-I had a hunch from the beginning!
Yuhan: Master. I'm sorry for keeping quiet until now.
Yuhan: Even though I told you to keep quiet… I'm sorry I scared you so much.
Aruji: Huh? Um…
Lono: That's right, Yuhan! I don't mind you keeping quiet about it from us, but…
Lono: You should have told the master beforehand.
Bastien: …You're right. I think you should have let them know that there was no danger.
Yuhan: …You're right. I never imagined the facility would be so well-finished…
Yuhan: I should have told you sooner. It was a mistake on my part.
Old Man: Ha ha ha… I'm glad to hear such praise.
Aruji: (Yuhan…)
…It seems that Yuhan… is willing to take all the blame alone.
I'm very grateful for Yuhan's feelings, but at the same time… Not only Yuhan, but the butlers showed me how cool they looked…
I didn't want to let it all go to waste.
Aruji: I wasn't scared at all
Yuhan: Master…
Aruji: Because everyone protected me
Lono: …! Hehe, I see…
Lono: Well, that's certainly true… No matter what happens, I'll protect you, Master!
Bastien: …You didn't do much this time.
Lono: That goes for you too! I mean, you got lost on the way and got separated from the group!
Bastien: I tested it for poison.
Lato: Hmm… I didn't do anything in particular.
Lato: I should have killed a couple of the mummies, even if they were fakes.
Muu: I was supposed to heal you, master!
Aruji: Everyone looked great.
Yuhan: Hehe… Thank you, master.
And so, me and my friends' short adventure became a funny story to remember as a travel tale…
The customs negotiations that followed seemed to go well… We were finally able to head home.
On our way back… Gaze out the carriage window at the enormous "entertainment facility"…
"I will take this secret to my grave"… I vowed to myself.

I was actually in the middle of rereading The Same Old Streets when I saw that Call It Home came out, and I was going to be good and wait until I’d finished before picking up the new book, but then. The cover was very red and that door looked like a good door, so obviously I had to just go ahead and buy it. But I was still going to wait to start reading it! Except maybe I could just read the first chapter… and then haha joke’s on me; of course as soon as I met Ryan Harris I became immediately invested, because that dude deserved a break and he didn’t even realize how much. (I mean, seriously. Playing in Toronto? I know your NHL and the IRL NHL aren’t exactly the same, but still. Toronto.) And then before I knew it I’d devoured that whole book before I was able to go back to finish The Same Old Streets.
Turns out, I think that might be actually the most satisfying way to read those two stories, because I was in the thick of everyone’s lives being kind of a mess, and then I got to jump ahead to see them getting to be happy and settled and just living their lives the way they never really believed they could. (The satisfaction of seeing them getting to have that kind of made me think of that tweet about how getting old enough to be an NPC rocks, actually — let the new kids deal with being the protagonists this time!)
Coming back to Alex after seeing Louie also recontextualized Zach Goldman for me a bit, too, because while it doesn’t seem like Alex and Zach had quite the toxic dynamic that Louie and his dad did (no Bastien to be the golden child already makes a difference, regardless of the severity of anything else), it also clearly wasn’t that different, at least from the perspective of “the boy needed a dad but got a perfectionist coach instead.” It’s just that, by the time we meet the Goldmans, they’ve both started to grow and heal from those mistakes, instead of going all-in on digging that hole deeper. It both made me feel worse for Louie and made me understand Alex a bit better.
Anyway, I wholeheartedly endorse the Same Old Streets (part 1) —> Call It Home —> Same Old Streets (part 2) reading order… but watch out! Because you may not have realized that Shane and Brady’s little twitter chirpfest actually happens in that story first — Rosie just barges into Shane and Connor’s conversation! Connor basically wingmans Shane and doesn’t even realize it! — and now you have to go and reread their story, too. And from there, you’ll get to see the Sailors, so you may have to go back to the beginning with Blake (west coast version) too, and Brady’s time on the Ravens will have you thinking about Elliot and Blake (east coast version), and… yeah, I don’t think I’m going to be making a dent in my TBR pile any time soon.
Which is, I guess, a very roundabout way of saying that I’m so glad you kept writing original hockey stories after the first one, and I hope you keep doing so for as long as it makes you happy :)
Haha, this ask was such a wild ride, but it also sounds like you were on a wild ride, and it's so fun that you kind of took me along for it. I feel like I was there :D
Thank you for this—this is the kind of ask I want to print out and keep around for when I start to wonder if it's all worth it and if I really want to write another thing.
I hope you have fun rereading :)
