Oh shit this is almost exactly what I’m trying to do with Hilson
Except they get together fairly quickly, and a lot like in s6, it’s not really working at first. Like goodness if they get together in mid season 5, you can imagine how that goes
But it starts out with “are they even ever going to be friends again,” escalates into a “will they-won’t they” and then evolves into a full blown situationship.
If I can pull it off, there’s going to be a whole half a season or more where House is gonna be waiting for the other shoe to drop and it’s going to play (badly) into his hallucinations and hospitalization. While Wilson is waffling on his own right to feel.
I love slow burn where the burn isn’t so much “how long they take to get together” but rather “how long they take to figure things out.” And these two are going to be figuring things out probably through season 7.
As soon as I can fix my headaches it’s over for you all
So called “slow burn enjoyers” when the slow burn isn’t just a single arc of miscommunication issues into immediate happily ever after, but instead two characters with deep-rooted trust and emotional issues realistically taking a long time to uproot and undo that damage to grow as people whilst having messy and complicated feelings for each other that would be unhealthy for them to indulge in in their current stage, if they could even realize those feelings as being love at all: :O

Good fucking day, Robot enjoyers! Gaze upon the updated semi-accurate height comparison of Bumblebee across the multiverse.
This is an updated version of a chart I made a few months ago. I had gotten some feedback and then TFOne came out and I kinda had to update it. I also added a Gen 1 Optimus Prime for scale, for fun... no other reason... (edit: slight adjustment made, just corrected a slight mistake in the order)
I am also working on at least two more character charts and one universe chart, so hopefully I can finish those soon (for some fucking genius reason I decided to do the characters that show up EVERY FUCKING UNIVERSE so I'm s u f f e r i n g)
*PST! Optimus, Megatron, Shockwave, Soundwave, Ratchet, and Ironhide ones are done now*
Master Post
Listed Heights, Explanations, and Justifications below the cut, bc you couldn't shut me up if you tried and I had shit to say.
Gen 1 - ~10 feet (TFwiki says greater than 3 meters so I rounded up to the first whole number because round)
Netflix Cybertron Trilogy - ~10 feet (He looks identical to Gen 1 so... the reason his photo looks weird is because I couldn't find a good full body photo with him standing straight up facing the camera so I put two images together to make the worst looking photoshop job you have ever seen)
Earth Spark - ~10 feet (There is no confirmed height yet, but using this screen shot (see below) of him standing in front of a barn door, I was able to make a reasonable guess, bc I'm so smart.)
Tumblr media
One V1 - ~13 feet (I am well aware of what the TFWiki says: 26.429 feet. And I fully reject that number. A: These numbers are sourced from the Walmart Promotional AR Experience that came out before the movie. B: There are three decimal points, and that number does not convert into a whole number in meters (which is originally what I thought was weird about it). C: The director has said that this movie is both canon to the LA movies and its own separate canon, and Bumblebee in both sets of LA movies does not exceed 20 feet tall. Ever. So, for sanity's sake, I have used the KCV numbers as my baseline. Bee grows when he gets his t-cog so shrink this one down a few feet. Look, I'm working on the Optimus chart rn, and one of the numbers from Beast Wars on the wiki was very observably wrong, and if I can dispute numbers older than me, I can dispute numbers 2 decades younger than me from fucking Walmart. Also, yes, his picture is 3 images sandwiched together)
Animated - 13 feet 3 Inches (There is no actual given heights, but in the comments of the previous version, @phoenix-inanis told me that they had done their own analysis of TFA heights and, gonna be real with you, I am blown away by all of their work and how detailed it is. Go marvel at how much work they put in -> https://phoenix-inanis.notion.site/TFA-Height-Chart-f6ad2960ca8c4c5b859ee4958723aaa4?pvs=4 )
One V2 - ~15 Feet (Please see reasoning above. Since this is as tall as we see Bee get, he's the same height as KCV Bee. Sweet fuck, I have put way too much effort into this shit)
Knight/Capel-Verse - 15 feet (No actual numbers, but Mirage is stated to be 15 feet tall (TFWiki), and he and Bee are like the same height, so... Capel directed the ROTB movie if you're wondering why his name is there)
Bayverse V1 - 16 feet (TFWiki. This is like the first 3 movies minimum, I don't remember when he hits his growth spurt. Also mr bay is king, we have numbers for nearly every character in BV)
Cyberverse - 18 feet (I'm gonna be honest, the only info we have is from a really shitty screen shot of a magazine. SO if any one has a copy of this book from the video below, a high quality scan would be greatly appreciated and I will kiss the ground you walk upon. Yes I found the video where the screen shot comes from leave me alone)
Bayverse V2 - 18 feet (TFWiki. Movie 4-5 I can't remember which one, I'm not re-looking this up. I fucking love the bayverse tho, this is the only universe with concrete and consistent this-character-is-this-height info)
Aligned Cont. WF/FOC - 20 feet (TFWiki/Fandom. Video game info screens you godsend, kiss me sweetly)
Aligned Cont. TFP/RID15 - 21 feet (These two designs are canonically identical, like in ALC canon, Bee has not changed visually at all...Ok, yes I got this number from fandom and they give literally no source for where they got these numbers. But, I can fully believe these are accurate. Just by looking at these characters on the show I can verify these numbers in my mind. Here, let's Compare.
Tumblr media
This is Sam compared to Bee from one of the BV movies, I'm too lazy to check which one. Sam is average size for a human and we know Bee is 16 feet tall in the first three movies. Checks out. Let's now look at a TFP Character who is also 16 feet tall.
Tumblr media
Jack is average size for a human, and the size difference is about the same. Can you see why I can't question the Aligned heights, even if they don't have a source??!?! They specifically made this universe to be full of freakishly tall robots for some fucking reason.)
Not Pictured: Aligned Cont. Rescue Bots and Rescue Bots Academy Bumblebee - 21 Feet tall. Look, did you want to see all 5 versions of ALC Bee? No, you don't. They're all the same height anyway; the back row would have just been a wall of redundant yellow. 5 different fucking art styles in one universe, why is that one my favourite.
Here's the front row and the back row separated into their own jpgs. I know it's kind of hard to tell which Bumblebee is which when they're all together.

Poor Chase, nobody makes him feel loved
His dad never tells him he's sick and then cuts him out of the will
His sister isn't *really* up for a reciprocal relationship
The first time he and Cameron have sex, she's high and tells him "don't turn into a good guy on me now"; after that, it's fwb "like microwave pizza." He's steady as the sun for her, putting out healthy boundaries and communication however he can, and in the end, she still leaves him for reasons even SHE can't fully articulate. And he's still so invested in reconciliation.
The lady from the wedding pegs him, accurately, as a nice guy who's lost his way. But they don't connect.
House cares about him, so deeply, but after Chase's stabbing, is unable to come visit him. Chase knows this. Chase *articulates* this. Chase does not FEEL this. He doesn't feel loved. (For the record, I think House does his best with Chase. I think House tries to be kind and supportive in early seasons, in his own way, and again after the divorce. And House pushes Chase, when he needs it. But their relationship is a whole OTHER question.)
He and Foreman care about each other, but Foreman holds EVERYONE at arm's length. Screwing with each other and pushing each other to be more, to avoid the hypocrisy, etc. are the closest they get to *close*.
I think Chase is *absolutely* close with Thirteen. But he's the big brother figure. He takes her out for coffee to talk through the guilt of killing someone. He comes in for the rescue and keeps her from blowing her life up in After Hours. And when she leaves, there's a bit of an implication that they don't really keep in touch (but also this was mid-2000s tv where they did NOT know how to write a character off and still keep them in the other characters' lives).
Chase has a long, hard road towards loving himself. Feeling like he's enough. Standing up for himself and his worth and believing it. And while he does have help growing up and pushing himself, he has almost no help in loving himself. But, more or less, he gets there anyways

So I tend to be death of the author, but for a show where the showrunners thought about things like "the pacing of the lines" and at least two of the writers had intensive notes on the Hilson themes/dynamic, I think a little bit of discussion of author intention is reasonable. Having said that, I making Amber girl!House was deliberate queercoding. They got to say things like the "we're a couple" speech that otherwise would almost certainly not have been allowed on the network let alone on their primetime drama at that time. (We can argue whether they could've fought for it another time. They decided to do it this way.)
Legitimately I do not feel there is any other coherent read of making Amber girl!House and then having her date Wilson *other* than queercoding. You could argue polyamory, and I love Amber x Wilson x House as much as the next guy, but from a literary narrative perspective, they make Amber House. They do this before Amber dates Wilson, and again, explicitly, when she dates Wilson.
There are only two ways of reading this, as someone with a master's in media.
House and Wilson would be together if House was a girl
House and Wilson are being gay-coded (or bi-coded, I'm using it as an umbrella term here) by the narrative
As for the killing of Amber.
First off, I think the writers are doing multiple things at once, like they always are because they go too hard. It's a narrative midpoint.
In seasons 1-3, House is deteriorating. His addiction is getting worse, his pain is getting worse, and he is getting further and further into his negative beliefs about himself. Including "I am tainting the people around me," and "I will be irreparably harmed by change." He is digging himself deeper and deeper into a hole.
Season 3 ends with his whole team leaving him. But also, importantly, it ends with Cameron telling him that she thinks he'll be fine as he always is. This seems dismissive, but she's actually the only person who tells him he'll be fine. Everyone else is warning him that if he doesn't change, he'll break himself. Cameron says he can weather the change. And after hearing that, he goes home and plays the guitar.
It takes him a moment to try for a new team, but once he gives himself his (deeply unhinged) adaptive-accessible interview tournament, he is able to accept and thrive in the change. He meets new people, some of whom become some of the most important relationships of his life. He acts as an excellent mentor and is able to be more reliable and more vulnerable for the people around him. And his old team come back—Foreman even embraces being like House, instead of running from it.
Season 4 is a huge period of happiness, stability, and growth for House.
So, where do you go from there for character development? You see what happens when you rock the boat. So his relationship with Wilson is threatened, and then threatened again. The consequences of his actions kill his former mentee and his best friend's girlfriend, someone he admires and cares about. (Proven by the conversation on the bus—and when House fires Amber, but that's a different post.) It is one of the few times that House genuinely fails, and arguably the most important. It changes everything, and everything that happens from there on out, particularly for House, Wilson, and Thirteen, comes from this pivotal moment.
His identity is threatened. His wellbeing is threatened. And he has to face the aftermath of bad things happening. So season 5 asks the question of whether he's grown enough to do that. Now, thematically, I have a more controversial opinion on what Amber's death says.
Amber's death is also just the unpredictable death of someone young, smart, and badass. It is about fighting death and failing. It is about how dying strips people of their individuality and autonomy. The scenes where Amber is laid out are bright white and ritualized, and I can go on and on about this but I'll sum up with: she does not deserve it, and everyone knows it, and that Means Something. Her death is a Death, and a ritual about death.
One of the themes in House is, "People don't get what they deserve, they just get what they get." And when Amber dies, it's a beautiful highlight of this. She doesn't deserve to die. House thinks he does—but because Amber is House, the narrative is saying House doesn't deserve to die. Implied that he doesn't deserve to be in pain. (And of course, there are also the narrative parallels of Thirteen not deserving to die, not deserving to have to face her death before she even reaches 30.)
I also think that in the context of Hilson it is the death of Wilson's last real opportunity to do the nuclear family thing. It is obviously more than that, of course. She is more than that. However, one of the things she is is female!House. Can Wilson find a woman that works for him? No. She literally dies. Even a woman who is just like House won't work out for him. This is one of the reasons that I personally read Wilson as gay, but even if you read Wilson as bi, the theme still holds: Wilson is queer in a way that cannot be denied, avoided, or papered over. His last best chance to be in a healthy, happy relationship with a woman literally dies.
It also allows plausible deniability through season 6 when Wilson does not date a woman. He is grieving. (Incidentally it's also a beautiful portrayal of grief that he continues to grapple with it for as long as he does when so many tv shows of the time would let the grief end almost as soon as the episode did. And whether you read Wilson as gay or bi, she was obviously a pivotal and very important person whom he cared an enormous amount about.)
So, yeah! I think there are a ton of literary and narrative implications of Amber being girl!House and then dying. The themes in this show are written so densely thick that I always have trouble uncovering all of them, and that's one of the things I love most about it.
Why did they make Amber girl!House, make her date Wilson, make House sad that he'll be left alone and then killed her??? What does it mean?????? Like, in a Literary analysis way

Day 3: Metal Virus/Nightmare
Every day must’ve been a living nightmare during the Metal Virus outbreak. I sometimes have nightmares that look like this, so I said screw it. Espio will have it too. He’ll be happy by day 5 though, so no worries.
