BellCAF Exhibitor Spotlight: SAPRO
Jess Hara is an illustrator who goes by the name SAPRO. They are a graduate of the Cornish College of the Arts and typically works with both digital and traditional mediums. SAPRO has done illustration for children's books as well as horror and comic themes and in 2011 they contributed t-shirt designs for Seattle Fashion Week. We are very excited to have SAPRO as an exhibitor for our first Bellingham Comic Arts Festival!

BellCAF Exhibitor Spotlight: Gridlords
Gridlords is a multifaceted live narrative arts program based in Portland, Oregon, and focused on performance of avant-garde works that push cartoonists to experiment.
Recently Gridlords has started publishing works by the future lords of the Grid.
Gridlords will be showing publications from a variety of artists during the BellCAF Exhibition Show, as well as hosting the animation showcase at the Pickford's Limelight Theater later that night. See the BellCAF Schedule for more info on this and other satellite events occurring with the festival.
We are ecstatic to have Gridlords involved with our first festival and certain they will be blowing minds here in Bellingham!!!

BellCAF Exhibitor Spotlight: Liz Yerby
Liz is a cartoonist and illustrator currently hailing from Portland who has made numerous autobiographical comics and zines. Among these has been two zines about living in Russia, 'Moscow Diary' and 'Lower New City', full of watercolor illustrations and stories about graffiti, stray dogs, and living abroad with anxiety.
Liz also makes hand-drawn shrinky-dink jewelry, and cards and prints of her illustrations.

BellCAF Exhibitor Spotlight: Phoebe Wahl
Phoebe is an artist & illustrator who graduated from RISD in 2013 with a BFA in illustration. She has since returned to her home in Bellingham, where she was born & raised. She works in a variety of mediums, from watercolor & collage to fabric sculpture and maintains a theme of tactility, comfort, and closeness with nature & one another throughout whatever medium she is working in.
Phoebe makes many cards and prints of her artwork and is an ongoing contributor to Taproot magazine, for which she will be doing covers through 2015. Her first children's book is being published this Summer by Tundra Books.
Phoebe is a creative force of nature and we are grateful to have her at BellCAF!

BellCAF Exhibitor Spotlight: Snakebomb Comix
Snakebomb Comix is a micro publisher and risograph printer of comics and zines, founded by Jack Hayden and based in Portland, OR.
The Snakebomb Comix anthology offers a consistent source of weirdness and just keeps getting better with each issue. The first two issues are sold out, but Snakebomb #3 will be available at BellCAF!

BellCAF Exhibitor Spotlight: Pity Party
Pity Party is a collective printing effort organized by Michael Heck and also featuring Karsten Foerster and Melissa Kagerer. They are based in Seattle and have created a pretty outstanding catalog of comics and illustration zines, as well as a variety of shirts and other apparel.
We are extremely happy to have these great artists and designers represented this March at BellCAF! Pity Party needs no Pity!!!

BellCAF Exhibitor Spotlight: Hannah Mizar
Hannah moved to Portland two years ago and graduated from the Comic Certificate Program at The Independent Publishing Resource Center. Since graduating the course she has been very involved in Portland’s comics community and has self published her work in comics and zines. Hannah’s work is autobiographical in nature, with some fantasy or sci-fi elements.

Around Town - BELLINGHAM COMIC ARTS FESTIVAL By Amy Kepferle · Wednesday, March 11, 2015 Cullen Beckhorn is a busy guy. In addition to founding and maintaining the Bellingham Alternative Library—a volunteer-run lending library in the downtown core focused on unconventional literature and graphic novels—he also publishes and distributes a variety of comics via Neoglyphic Media. On top of these not-insubstantial duties, Beckhorn and his publishing company are also behind this weekend’s inaugural Bellingham Comic Arts Festival (BellCAF), a one-day event highlighting and celebrating an array of cartoonists, illustrators and printmakers from both near and far.

Join Cullen Beckhorn, founder of the independent graphic media publication house, Neoglyphic Media, for a sneak peek at what’s happening in the expansive field of cartoon and comic book art. Beckhorn’s goal is to publish and promote talented and innovative artists in the graphic media genre. He is organizing BellCaf(Bellingham Comic Arts Festival), a single day festival celebrating the diverse array of today’s cartoonists, illustrators and printmakers creating new and exciting work on Saturday, March 14. Presented by Village Books.
Location : Old City Hall Rotunda Room
$3 suggested donation/free for Museum members

BellCAF Exhibitor Spotlight: Kelly Froh
Kelly has been making comics for over 15 years and has self-published over 40 mini-comics and zines in that time. Her comics are most often autobiographical and range from tragic to tragically hilarious. Stew Brew, a collaboration with her partner, Max Clotfelter, was nominated for the 2008 Ignatz Award for Outstanding Mini-Comic.
Kelly is also a co-founder and co-organizer of the Short Run comix & arts festival that takes place every November in Seattle.
We are honored to have Kelly as an exhibitor for BellCAF!

BellCAF Exhibitor Spotlight: Steeb Russell
Steeb is a Bellingham local whose work can be found all over town, from walls of restaurants and coffee shops to skate shops and public murals. He is a daily journal drawer and self-proclaimed "paintoonist". Steeb lives here in Bellingham with his partner Libby and his son Franklin, who has been a collaborator in some of his recent paintings. We are really glad to have Steeb exhibiting at BellCAF and excited to see what he brings to the show!

BellCAF Exhibitor Spotlight: Nikko Ronsayro
Nikko Ronsayro is an animator living in Vancouver, BC. He's worked on shows such as Mother Up! and Teen Titans Go!
Nikko also publishes mini comics with some of his short stories, and contributes to anthologies such as the World's End anthology, curated by Wesley Boone.

BellCAF Exhibitor Spotlight: Aidan Fitzgerald
Aidan has been making comics for three years, including with Seattle’s Intruder collective. He makes comics and art zines on his Risograph, and has recently become obsessed with the more technical aspects of printing and book making.
