Main Verse Update #1

Note: So I had this idea of making occasional recap posts in order to let people know about what might be going on in Django's main verse, whether it's a significant event or just ongoing plot details. They'll be fairly short and to the point because I can't imagine myself writing out anything that extensively. Just seems kinda pointless, y'know?

Anyway, these will pop up every now and again when I feel like enough has happened that it warrants a post. Be sure to check out the Blog Event tag below in order to catch up on anything in the future if you're curious!

So without further ado, let's see what's been going on.

As of this moment the Saints are currently working on establishing themselves in several major American cities—seeing if they can attempt to form an alliance of sorts with any local gang/criminal organization given the current state of the world. Outside of the U.S. the Saints have also been toying around with the idea of setting up shop in different parts of the world. Aside from typical reconnaissance and discussions with prominent figures, nothing significant has happened yet.

In a surprising turn of events, the Saints (or at least their media division) have cut ties with the likes of Ultor and are now working under a corporation owned by Ozymanidas ( @ardenssolis ). Django had done prior work for the man and built up a rather good rapport, earning him an offer to be under Ozy's company in order to act as a safety net for the gang (along with helping the man in his many different endeavors). A news report-style post will be made eventually that further discusses this.

Speaking of partnerships, Django is currently in the midst of working out an agreement with notorious crime lord Mirage from the organization known as Illusione ( @killerhubby / @allmurder ). If all goes well, the Saints will have themselves a powerful ally, along with a pretty good in if they ever decide to establish themselves in Italy. Let us all pray for a wonderful and prosperous partnership between both organizations.

While nothing significant has yet occurred, nor even been written; please keep in mind that the Chairmen are in fact keeping tabs. They may just be closer than you think.

" Breaking news coming right out of Los Angeles, California, as police are currently investigating the murder of a local attorney, Michael Hayden, who was seemingly thrown out the window of his Beverly Hills penthouse. Reporter Daniel Stevens has been following the story all day, and is now live with the details tonight. Daniel, would this have any connection to the string of high profile killings from the past several weeks? "

Footage cuts to a man in his early 30's standing some feet away from the active investigation. A crowd of onlookers can be seen just to the side of him. What isn't shown is just how big that crowd actually is. Whatever happened here seems to have brought out a good chunk of LA's most curious.

" Thank you, Charlie. " Daniel responds. " As of now, there is no evidence to connect Hayden's murder to the series of killings that have been popping up over the last two months. However, from talking to several neighbors, it would seem to be that most are under the impression that Hayden might have had some sort of gang-affiliation given the company he would bring over to his home. Whether any of these individuals may have had a hand in the man's demise is anyone's guess. Though, one thing that most investigators seem to agree on is this; whoever may be at fault was clearly trying to send a message given the brazenness of this act. "

What follows next is a series of interviews with different eyewitnesses, all recounting the moment in which they saw Michael Hayden's body get thrown out a window, and land right onto the pavement below. Some note having heard what seemed to be gunshots prior to the crash. Others mention seeing a large man drive off on a motorcycle just a few minutes after. None could make out any distinguishing features other than his stature.

Before you know it, they've wrapped up their main story and gone off into some other bullshit about traffic jams, the weather, or local events occurring this week. However, this doesn't meant that the story won't continue to be talked about. In fact, other outlets seem to have picked up on it given the connection it seems to have with at least eight other slayings that have occurred since the start of the new year; most of them dealing with other poor schmucks who may or may not have had ties to organized crime.

Truthfully, none of this shit is going to matter in the long run. At least not for the man who committed these heinous acts. They were simply jobs to gain favor with certain people who could help him out with those BIG plans of his. And who knows, maybe they could blossom into beautiful friendships. I mean, let's be real here, it's gonna be a major pain in the ass to do anything when you've got several different world governments breathing down your neck.

Oh, well. Such is life when you're the world's most popular boy...

Starting off with you, you are a notorious noble lady in Philos kingdom, particularly the daughter of the only earl in Philos kingdom. As you're coming of age for marriage, your father the Earl is determined to find you a suitable husband. His initial plan was to introduce you to the crown prince of Philos because you deserve the best of the best. However, you believe in true love instead of a union for duty and political purposes. While sorting through the finest candidates, you found out that there are many fine gentlemen in the kingdom, each with their own allure.

Which one will you choose?

Xavier 🌟

We're starting off with Xavier, he's of course, the crown prince of Philos Kingdom

He's the typical main male lead destined to be your fiancé

He may appear innocent on the surface , but he actually likes to poke fun at you

I imagine he's your childhood friend; the two of you played together a few times whenever the your father the Earl had work at the imperial palace

When you were children, Xavier said that he wanted to marry you one day

However, the two of you eventually lost contact as Xavier's schedule grew busier with his duties as crown prince and grew apart

Currently, the king and queen are sorting through the candidates for the crown princess

The king and queen had picked a princess from the neighboring kingdom but Xavier declined, saying that he already had someone in mind

So really, he was actually the mastermind all along (cue to the introduction), determined to make you his bride by secretly sending a marriage proposal to your estate

He even contacted your father first, not the other way around to arrange a meeting with you

Rafayel 🫧

He is said to be the enigmatic prince from the neighboring kingdom, who carries the bloodline of the Lemurian people

He is the son of a Lemurian princess, whose beauty and grace are reflected in Rafayel's face

He is also known for his artistic skills especially in painting and is famous among the greatest artists in the continent

He often holds charity events, raising funds from his paintings to those in need

Many noble ladies fangirls over him, as most of them thinks he's a romantic and very admirable

But he's actually quite shy when it comes to real romance and that's just all his facade

So the story goes like this, one day, you met him at a ball and he tried to get close to you because he wanted to get some information from you on some kind of Lemurian-related case

You two ended up working together to solve the case and he slowly fell in love with you instead

He revealed to you that he's actually the king of the Lemurian kingdom and he wants to take you back to his kingdom and asked you to be his bride

Now, you are his muse, and since then you exist in all of his art

Zayne ❄️

Zayne is the prodigious mage of the magic tower, because you know, foreseer? Tower of secret?

Zayne represents the typical Mage!Male lead

He's the youngest and one of the lead researchers of magic with huge contributions to the kingdom

Rumor has it he's actually of noble birth but that's for another story

Zayne is cold and distant because he's grown up hiding his true identity

And the thing with you is that, in his dreams, he kept seeing glimpses of his own future — and keeps seeing the same person by his side, but doesn’t know if it’s real or just a magical illusion

And ever since that day, somehow you keep crossing paths with him during important meetings or investigations

Magic can be unpredictable around strong emotions — and Zayne finds his powers reacting wildly when he's near you

He tries to do a research on it, and at first "rejects his fate", but every time he does, his magic is getting more unpredictable and out of control

In the end, he learns to embrace it — but the truth is, he had already fallen for you long before he ever understood it

Because the moment you first crossed paths, even before you appeared in his dreams, his heart had already chosen you

Sylus and Caleb under the cut!

Sylus 🐈‍⬛

Sylus is the archduke/duke renowned for his vast fortune and prosperous land in the north

He's just as famous — or infamous — for the rumors that surround him

He was rumored to be cruel, violent and ruthless by outsiders, but the people in the north think otherwise

People say he has a pet dragon that protects his land

With Sylus, I can definitely see enemies to lovers trope, the fierce and mean northern duke slowly falls in love with an unshaken noble lady

Well, it all happened when you decided to run away from home to avoid being in an arranged marriage to some stranger

After running away, your carriage broke and you stumbled upon the Duke's castle

And Sylus, cold-eyed and ruthless, has no intention of letting a suspicious trespasser go free, thinking you were a spy sent by the neighboring kingdom

But after some negotiations, Duke Sylus agrees to hide you — but only if you work for him

Basically you're just an adorable little scared kitten to him that he basically adopts you

In the end, he convinced your father to marry you to him instead (the people in his castle are overjoyed by the news that the castle will finally have a Duchess)

Caleb 🍎

Prepare for the angst because in LADS his story kinda has the forbidden trope, that makes him so Knight!Male Lead coded

The tension of forbidden love between of a noble lady and her knight, He struggles every day to maintain his self-control, never daring to step over the line drawn by your difference in social status

As your loyal personal knight, he's always there right by your side ever since you two were young

His duty is solely to protect you from harm... Not catch feelings for you

He would watch from the sidelines while the other princes approached you, jealous but unable to do anything expect for clenching his fists behind his back

Because protecting you also means protecting your happiness, even if it breaks his own heart

And yet, every stolen glance, every accidental brush of your hand against his armor, chips away at his carefully built walls

Every time you smile at someone else... At some... Princes and noblemen, it feels like a blade twisting deeper into his chest

Nails digging into his palms, forcing himself to stand still when every instinct screams at him to act — to claim you

But he remains silent

Because loving you was never part of his oath — and even if it costs him everything, he will not be the one to shatter your future for his own selfish heart

As always, this is Mr Baileywick speaking, to inform you of the New Years Ball that will be hosted at the Ellowyn Estate on well, New Year's Eve. Various games will be played including Truth or Dare (I have advised young Miss Alicia and Miss Hayley against it, but they insisted, so I hope things don't go out of hand), "who's most likely to..." and "pass the phone". Various games will be available on the Discord Server as well including basic games like tic tac toe, hangman, etc.

New Years playlists will be made and hopefully everyone will have a good time. Kaname Kuran is a character from the manga Vampire Knight & Vampire Knight Memories by Matsuri Hino. He is a Pureblood vampire—one of the progenitors of vampires, making him over ten thousand years in age. In my portrayal, he appears to be somewhere in his 20s or over, depending on the RP. My portrayal is based on the manga and anime with some personal headcanons (see main verse for more information).

[ main ] The Reawakened Progenitor of Vampires: The reawakened ancestor of the Kuran line. A Pureblood vampire. Kaname became the unwilling “replacement” to his descendants’ (Juuri and Haruka Kuran) son of the same name who was offered to him as sacrifice by Rido.

He possesses a phlegmatic-melancholic temperament and loathes himself a little less than canon Kaname. A scientist at heart, Kaname has a thirst for knowledge and takes pleasure in conducting experiments; a trait he keeps tightly concealed behind a mask of indifference.

Covers events post Cross Academy with considerable deviations from canon & events before being reawakened (The Hooded Woman etc).

Second Childhood: Covers events during Kaname’s childhood as Juuri and Haruka’s son. Between 10-16 years old. A sub to main verse. No NSFW.

Hellsing: Kaname is one of the vampires who had once been Alucard’s comrade centuries ago. Worn down by years of bloodshed, Kaname no longer involves himself in Hellsing’s affairs; preferring to live on his own terms, drowning himself in his own research.

Compared to the usual way in which they conducted their work—bombastic and with a helluva lot of property damage left in their wake—the 3rd Street Saints have decided to approach their global expansion in a much more subtle way. Or at least for the moment. After all, while the general public may have moved on from the events that had transpired in Steelport, those in high positions of power were sure to never forget not only what the Saints had accomplished that day, but the look of unyielding determination and ferocity behind the pale-blue eyes of their monster of a leader. This was a man ready to reach newfound heights within the criminal underworld by any means possible. And you'd be a god damn fool to not take what he said as a warning to anyone who stood in his way.

While nothing was set in stone as of yet, other than a few potential candidates for the gang's next hostile takeover. Members of the Saints could be spotted around various major cities across the United States. Though you'd have to really be paying attention to recognize anyone as part of the gang, as they had made quite an effort to not stand out as much with their usual branded attire. Numbers were also kept fairly low as it would surely rouse the suspicion of both local law enforcement and any rival organization that had not been contacted previously for potential business arrangements.

For once in this gang's history, a significant amount of planning had been done in order to make this as smooth of an operation as possible, as the time for wanton destruction will be saved for future ideas. In the meantime, everyone was doing their part to make sure they had as solid of a foundation as possible before deciding on their next move. Which knowing them, was more than likely gonna involve blowing something up to kingdom come.

Surprisingly though, our very own King of Saints had decided to take some time off as he had spent the last several weeks hopping from place to place, gathering as much reconnaissance as possible. And with spirits high, and a song in his heart, the Boss takes this moment to pop open that piano he had bought for the penthouse (it seemed like a good conversation piece) and play himself a little tune.

Types of Book Genres

Mystery. Follows a crime (like a murder or a disappearance) from the moment it is committed to the moment it is solved. Mystery novels are often called “whodunnits” because they turn the reader into a detective trying to figure out the who, what, when, and how of a particular crime. Most mysteries feature a detective or private eye solving a case as the central character.

Romance. Romance Writers of America (RWA) noted that romance refers to optimistic and emotionally satisfying stories that focus on a central love story. “The Love Hypothesis” by Ali Hazelwood and “Red, White and Royal Blue” by Casey McQuiston are both romance novels.

Western. Primarily set in the American Old West between the late 18th century and late 19th century and tell the stories of cowboys, settlers, and outlaws exploring the western frontier and taming the Wild West.

Bildungsroman. Translates to “novel of education” or “novel of formation,” chronicles a character’s journey from young innocence to worldly adulthood. This is a specific type of coming-of-age story in which the character gains knowledge and experience, even as innocence is lost.

Speculative Fiction. Refers to genres not based in reality, including work with magical, supernatural or otherwise imagined elements. Essentially, speculative fiction is the opposite of mimetic fiction. The category includes subgenres like fantasy, science-fiction, dystopian fiction and more, Witcover noted.

Science Fiction. This genre often involves science and technology of the future. Science fiction is frequently set in space or a different universe or world. It often uses some real theories of science.

Fantasy. According to the California Department of Education (CDE), fantasy "invites suspension of reality." The genre encompasses stories that wouldn't happen in real life, often set in another world or including magical elements.

Dystopian fiction. Imagines a future place in cataclysmic decline.

Action and Adventure. The tension of the protagonist’s journey in an adventure story creates a pulse-pounding, adrenaline-pumping storyline. Dramatic car chases, secret missions, and violent fight scenes often pop up in famous action stories. Great action writing draws in your audience, getting their adrenaline pumping as they turn the page.

Nonfiction (Memoir: Stories from an author’s life that offer a firsthand account of events are called memoirs. According to Reader's Digest, some highly-recommended memoirs include “I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings” by Maya Angelou and “Spare” by Prince Harry. ; Autobiography: a nonfiction (true) account of someone’s life. It is written by the subject of the autobiography; Biography: tell the story of a notable person’s life, written by someone other than the subject. Some examples are “Into the Wild” by Jon Krakauer, which tells the story of the adventurer Chris McCandless, and “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” by Rebecca Skloot.)

Food and Travel. Cookbooks, food history books, travel guides and travel memoirs all fall under this category that includes “The Omnivore's Dilemma” by Michael Pollan and “My Life in France” by Julia Child.

Humor. Strong humor writers have a way of spotting the patterns of life and bringing them to the surface at exactly the right moment.

Young Adult. YA books are intended for readers between 12 and 18 years old, according to Smithsonian Magazine. Some examples include “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins and “The Hate U Give” by Angie Thomas.

Children's Fiction. Many classic examples of children’s literature are picture books, including “Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak or “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus” by Mo Willems. Scholastic noted most picture books are intended for children up to seven years old.

Knowing your Genre. The world of literature abounds with different genres.

Although every literary genre has its own trends and defining characteristics, the divisions between these categories aren't always clear. Whether you’re picking another book off the shelf or plotting out your new novel, learning more about genre can help you decide what comes next.

If you want to become a writer, there are a number of reasons to learn about genres, according to Paul Witcover, associate dean of the online Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing program at Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU).

“I feel it’s important for writers to have an understanding of genre because it will impact how their books are marketed, as well as how they are perceived by publishers,” he said. “But I also think writers can be too concerned with genre.”

Although he encourages writers to learn about the subject, Witcover noted a tendency for overly rigid ideas about the distinctions between genres. “Concepts of genre are more fluid than writers may believe,” he said. It's important to keep that fluidity in mind.

Genre is determined by need and audience expectation. Its set functions are determined by its social need.

Broadly speaking, the fiction world is divided into 2 segments: literary fiction and genre fiction.

Literary fiction typically describes the kinds of books that are assigned in high school and college English classes, that are character driven and describe some aspect of the human condition. Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award winners tend to come from the literary fiction genre.

Genre fiction has a more mainstream, populist appeal. It traditionally comprises genres such as romance, mystery, thriller, horror, fantasy, and children’s books.

Some genre writers straddle a line between genre-focused commercial fiction and the traditions of literary fiction.

Traditionally, there are 4 broader categories of genre:

Fiction: Imagined or invented literature is called fiction, Writers & Artists noted. Examples of fiction titles include “1984” by George Orwell and “Little Fires Everywhere” by Celeste Ng.

Nonfiction: According to Writers & Artists, nonfiction refers to fact-based works. Some nonfiction titles include “The Body Keeps Score” by Bessel van der Kolk and “I Am Malala” by Malala Yousafzai, and “Essentials of Classic Italian Cooking” by Marcella Hazan.

Poetry: Britannica defines poetry as “literature that evokes a concentrated imaginative awareness of experience or a specific emotional response through language chosen and arranged for its meaning, sound and rhythm.” Poetry incorporates poetic elements and encompasses the work of writers like Maya Angelou, Robert Frost, Amanda Gorman and Richard Siken.

Drama: Dramatic literature refers to texts of plays that can be read for their literary value as well as performed, according to Britannica. Dramas include stage directions and specific formatting not found in prose or verse. Some of the most studied dramas are Shakespeare’s plays, like “Hamlet” and “Romeo and Juliet.” You might be familiar with other dramas, too, like “Death of a Salesman” and “The Crucible” by Arthur Miller or August Wilson’s Century Cycle of 10 dramas depicting the Black experience in the U.S. throughout the 20th century, including “The Piano Lesson” and “Fences.”

Although most writing falls into at least one of these 4 categories, the edges are a bit blurred, and there can be overlap.

It seems the general advice is to learn about the different genres first, and try to see which elements your story has that align with them. Perhaps start with the broader categories first, then narrow it down to the major genres, until you identify which specific subgenre your story fits. And it's fine if they overlap, as this happens with most novels. Hope this helps!
