brit report
Bickerton Hill FUCKS. It's not the time of year where the heather blooms, but it's still so obviously lush it's amazing
Gorse DOES smell like coconut, can confirm. But you have to get close to the flower and give it a good sniff, and it's a very thorny plant.
Treecrawlers are a 9/10 bird
Part of the trail is like, haunted. The trees have eyes, one is smooth like skin, there's a weird face, etc.
I found a lost scarf. I have been told this is a scene in Blair Witch. I am putting it next to my black eclipse crystal.
Sometimes brits say an item in clearance is "on offer" instead of "on sale"
I'm beginning to wonder if the idea of "Convenience Tax" is actually unique to me as an American, or as an individual. Is it not common to refer to the fact that convenience stores are more expensive than grocery stores as "Convenience Tax"?
Have noticed that being American and having a very thick accent means that people often assume I'm friendly (which i am tbf) and open up quicker.
I have been told it is not that easy for the Brits I'm visiting to make friends with strangers. Cultural difference or skill issue? WHO KNOWS
I got a free apple :)
Not beating American stereotypes, unfortunately. I eat noticably more food than my companions, am a lot louder, act extremely friendly and have no sense of sublety, etc. I AM trying, though.
There's a lot of little behaviors in that which I take for granted as normal back home.
I mentioned the concept of "talking to a stranger on the bus" while telling a story and the whole group looked at me like I was describing an unspeakable crime
Special flavored coffees are impossible to find; I had to bring blueberry coffee with me
And creamer? Nonexistent besides Coffeemate (GACK)
However; fancy breads are much easier to encounter. I have fallen in love with Tiger Bread.
There's a kind of sweet roll called a Battenberg, which is a thin layer of marzipan wrapped around a checkerboard cake, and it's ambrosia. I can't stop eating these
I am doing sooooo much cooking too, it's great
So anyway having a fantastic time <3
#bone babble#Should I post Bickerton Hill pictures? I took lots of shots of the scenery#It was a gorgeous day

mirror:rorrim on the wall, who's fault is it all?
an idea for a timeloop/groundhog day fnaf:sb AU, as presented by (throws confetti) meeeee
in this AU, you continually wake up/come to in front of the timeclock at the pizzaplex after having just clocked in for your first night on the job. You die, leave the building, manage to survive until 6AM? You black out and wake up at 12AM, standing right where you were six hours before. No one else seems to remember or realize what's happening unless you directly attempt to make them recall that you've met before. You can't seem to figure out how to get out of this timeloop, and if you're not careful, you might just lose your mind... again.
Lingering in mirrors around the 'plex are reflections of your past selves, the ones that were killed or survived or any other number of things. They tell you about their attempts to break the loop, about how to survive certain encounters with the dangers of the 'plex, give their best attempts at advice on what you could be missing that frees everyone from the cycle of dying and waking up again.
But one of these past selves is a little... off, even compared to the others. Turns out, in one of the most recent loops, you lost your mind and took the matters of life and death into your own hands. You had been killed numerous times- crushed, cut, bitten, bled out, suffocated, bludgeoned, dropped, strangled, stabbed- and at last had decided it was your turn to do some killing. And you had been good at it. You had killed every last moving thing in the building and spent the final hour watching the sun rise on a world that you hadn't touched in god knows how long. And you had felt free for the first time in... months? Years? How long had you been stuck here? Not even your reflections are sure.
To try and keep the loop from becoming a neverending bloodbath, your past selves kept the memories of every previous end from you. They give you advice, tell you of things that helped them, admit that you had bonded with certain animatronics during repeated run-ins over the course of several loops but that so far it had never amounted to anything and it never helped when said animatronic might catch and kill you before you got the chance to talk to them in the next loop, and tell you of every small bit of information they uncovered that might help you find the way out of this purgatory. You are your own last chance to get out of this now, you tell yourself. There has to be a way out of here. Otherwise, you might as well succumb to madness, though you know you already have.

"I'm not sure how to dress up my character from X time period."
Well I don't have all answers but I have a quick fix! Step 1. Check out The Met Collection https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection
Step 2. Put in the necessary details like era and location, etc-
Step 3. Browse the selections until you find something fitting.
Welcome to the rad ass world of museum archives. (theres plenty more on the internet to look around, now go forth!)

The B-plots of "The Galileo Seven" and "The Mark of Gideon" aren't identical, but I do think it's pretty funny that the former hinges on Kirk fighting with some asshole higher-up who won't let him save Spock et al., and the Spock-figuring-out-what's-happening B-plot of "The Mark of Gideon" involves him fighting with various assholes including Starfleet higher-ups who are trying to keep him from saving Kirk.
But for Kirk, "fighting" = well technically according to regulation 347843874 paragraph 24 line 1731 I temporarily retain the authority to exercise my own judgment as commanding officer. So I'm just going to use my extensive knowledge of regulations to ... keep repairs and scans going until time runs out. In the meanwhile, you're free to get the fuck off my bridge

(When time runs out, he does reluctantly obey his directives, for a certain value of "obey"—by commanding the crew to comply as slowly as possible.)
Meanwhile, Spock's reaction to tangling with obnoxious but not unreasonable higher-ups pretty much comes down to "Sir, for posterity, I'd like to register my considered opinion of this decision as fuck you, you fucking idiots" before fighting further obstacles. And by "fighting" I mean:

#anghraine babbles#anghraine's pics#star peace#star trek: the original series#tos: s1#tos: s3#c: who do i have to be#c: i object to intellect without discipline#tos: the galileo seven#tos: the mark of gideon#otp: closer than anyone in the universe#spock#james t kirk#i love when the high commissioner tries to lecture kirk on starfleet regulations and kirk's affronted not only bc of spock#but at the idea that he doesn't have an exhaustive knowledge of starfleet regulations that this asshole could only aspire to#and which is going to let kirk throw as many procedural roadblocks as possible in the way#meanwhile spock is like 'unfortunately i received a direct order not to embark on a rescue mission so guess what?#looks like i'm going on an unsanctioned rescue mission in direct defiance of my orders and starfleet policy. anyway'#mccoy: yay great idea! can i come along?#spock: no#and then spock painstakingly collects information before throwing this guy so hard that he falls unconscious#and just afterwards when the pro-life death cultist father looks like he might cause trouble spock is just like 'i've had it up to HERE#with people like you covering up ABDUCTING PEOPLE'S CAPTAINS with DIPLOMACY don't think i won't smash your bones either'

Evacuate.
I'm breaking character to speak very seriously. If you're in Florida, do NOT ignore evacuation orders. If you have Floridian friends or family, tell THEM to get out too.
I'm begging you personally.
Back during Hurricane Sandy, which made landfall on the East Coast as a mere cyclone, my stupid ass did not evacuate. I watched it roll in, trapped on the upper floor by rising floodwaters. Vehicles became wrecking balls in the current. Pieces of houses were ripped clean off. The glass on the windows bent-- if the wind was any stronger, they might have shattered.
The storm outside painted the world pitch black. It was like nothing existed outside those bulging windows except rain and chaos. I could only hear the roar of the wind, interlaced by an irregular din of crunching, scraping, and crackling.
It was only when the surge subsided that I learned that those noises were the sounds of yachts and house boats that had been lifted out of the harbor. Unmanned on the current, they crashed into telephone poles, dug trenches in the roads, and ripped through the walls of houses as if they were cardboard. That could have been me.
It was one of the most terrifying ordeals of my life. I survived because I was lucky.
If you've been ordered to evacuate, get out NOW. If you're not scared of "a little rain," you will be terrified by the time it's too late. It will be because you're trapped by an inky black ocean of rising water, surrounded by broken glass and shrieking wind, your little island growing smaller and smaller until you're swallowed whole.
And, for the love of all that is good, IF you're trapped in that situation, DO NOT GO OUTSIDE. Stay where you are safe until you physically cannot. Treat the water with the same caution as if it is alive and wants to kill you.
Be well. Stay safe. Keep your loved ones assured of your wellbeing.

rewatching the Lachlan being caught storyline the beats of it could be something they do for when John gets caught.
Like imagine:
Sam hurt because he saw a body in Lachlan's car vs John having a hurt Rob in the back of his van cause he saw something
Belle finds the blood on Lachlans clothes vs Aaron finding something on John.
Rob comes around to apolagize to Belle and sees Lachlan going crazy vs Mack seeing John going crazy in the hoods (running montage?)
Lachlan kidnaps Belle cause he 'did this all so they could be together' vs John getting Aaron in the van and driving off (w/ or w/o unconcious presumed dead Rob) cause he did this all for Aaron and so they could be together
i think the van in general has to be a big part of John's end mostly cause it's been so prominent in his story. Someone is being kidnapped in the nasty van.
#jo babbles#robert sugden#aaron dingle#emmerdale speculation#emmerdale#robron#john sugden#like it would still be different enough but the bare bones of it is nice and dramatic and fits the current story they have

there is always room for more refining too! this was just a crash course :] photobashing is a common method used even in studios. work smart not hard, and you can still have fun with it. it can make for some beautiful results, and for my scaley or feathered artists this helps a lot if your artstyle involves photo realism elements!
you can do this with other subjects too. not just characters! but this is how i utilize it for characters specifically ^^

I felt dissatisfied by the ending when I first saw it; and now after lurking in the tags, I really feel like Wolf Children is a fascinating movie if you read it like a tragedy
The story is about Hana, and about her acceptance with life and loss. It's about coming to terms with the loss of her husband, and about her loss of purpose as her children grow up. In this sense, she finds contentedness in the lack of control she has over her life.
She tries her best, alone and mourning, but she is just a human, like @wyvernslovecake says. She isn't capable of teaching them to balance the wolf and human parts of themselves because she's not a wolf. Her idea of supporting her daughter is teaching her the self-soothing chant and creating the dress... and ends up teaching her that her wolf-side IS something to be suppressed and controlled.
Hana ends up enabling Ame's disconnect with human society, and confirming Yuki's budding fears that it (as a whole) will reject her.
And adding the lens of gender over the story provides a whole new layer. Ame is a boy, so he's encouraged to cut himself off in a way that WILL INEVITABLY become extremely destructive to his mental and physical health. Yuki is a girl, so she must learn to deny and suppress the part of her that brings joy, until her male love interest gives her permission to express it privately, to him.
But back to Hana... she did her best. She did what she could. She LOVES her babies and only ever wanted the best for them, her whole life was dedicated to her family. But it wasn't what her kids needed.
I don't have the language for this but I think about it all the time; Someone can fail you but have done nothing wrong. Someone can do everything they're supposed to and it still wasn't right for you. Pain without blame. Love itself isn't always enough.
Hana's story has been told, but her children are ten and eleven at the end of the movie. They should have very long lives after this... if Ame doesn't die horribly like his fox mentor, whose cause of death was "broken leg." Both parts of him are social animals, and if Yuki can't deny her wolf half, Ame absolutely cannot deny his human side.
He WILL need to re-enter society one day, unprepared, unsocialized, and we can only hope that he finds someone who can help him make that jump.
And Yuki... I'm sure her love interest is a fine boy, but it's a terrible situation to be forced to rely on one single person (your implied future husband!) for all of your emotional needs. What if she, y'know, doesn't love him when they both aren't 11? What will happen if she has children and has the same instincts as her dad? Will she always be struck by anxiety when she thinks of how she's "a monster"?
She WILL be hurt by this constant shame and fear, now hateful of a natural part of herself that used to bring her joy. She is in a cage and appointed her love interest as a zookeeper; we can only hope that one day she can step out.
Really hated the ending of Wolf Children, honestly. Not because it’s sad that the little boy left his mom but he’s literally 10. I don’t care he’s “adult when he’s a wolf“ what the hell is he going to do when he INEVITABLY has to re-enter society in, what, 8 years?
There are no wolves in Japan. They’re EXTINCT there for a reason. He can’t form a pack, a thing normal wolves do, so he’s going to need to find friends and family somehow, and the only way to do that for him is to shift back into a human and have all the same problems he did growing up, except this time he’s Jared, 19, and he never learned how to read
#wolf children#not wc#bone babble#''Bones stop interpreting anime that are supposed to be uplifting as tragedies''#NO. NEVER#YOULL PRY IT FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS#it's MY Critical Analysis Skills and I GET TO CHOOSE if i think the movie is sad

what did that other anon mean by *Tawnypelt* now being a Crowfeather love interest? oh god what is The Elder's Quest retconning
Leaked pages from the Amazon preview of the Elder's Quest E-book, which you can access if you have an Amazon account;
She starts thinking about how old and lonely she is before being attacked by psychic MP4s of Crowfeather dancing the macarena. The gas leak has spread to ShadowClan, I'm afraid
Some are speculating that this is happening because Cherith is the last Erin standing, and now there's no one to stop her from making TawnyCrow canon. Have to admit, if that is the case, I respect women's wrongs. This is infinitely more tolerable if I imagine Mad King Cherith up upon a castle raining crackship fireballs down at me.
