Smiffina Episodes - Episode 240
Smithy and Kerry are handed over to one of the Radford goons to be murdered and disposed of. At the station June calls off the raid because it hasn't been signed off by a senior officer. Panicking Rob tells her it's all in the bag, they just need to do the raid. They know they'll get them - it's their only chance. June reluctantly agrees.
Smithy tells David that the police will never rest until they find their two missing officers. He says they'll promise to never repeat anything they've seen and heard and that they should just let them go. He tells him it's inadmissable evidence and would be thrown out of court. David laughs. "Shall I just let you go then?"
The van races to the club, June gives them orders and tells them it's got to go without a hitch. Rob and Ken are worried as Smithy still hasn't rung like he said he would. As the gunman prepares - the van arrives outside. Kerry sobs how sorry she is to Smithy. "You didn't have to come back." "Yes I did." Just as he's about to shoot the first one - David comes in and tells them the club is being raided and to dispose of the gun.
Rob runs upstairs and comes face to face with Irene as Ken finds David. The police start to search for drugs and Ken splits off to find Smithy and Kerry. He insists that they can't get away with what they've done but Smithy says they have to - they can't be found there or tell what they've done.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
No drugs are found in the club and the raid is a complete bust. Smithy and Kerry appear with the cover story have just 'having a drink and getting caught up in it'. Rob finds Wayne Radford and orders him to empty his pockets - finally some drugs are found! Even if just on him.
In custody Wayne is shocked to see Kerry in full uniform. She's scared he'll blab but Smithy assures her he won't, even he's not stupid enough to cause a full scale investigation into his family. Smithy covers with June, telling her that Kerry was having a full scale crisis about being a copper and that because she was off sick they went somewhere they 'wouldn't be seen' so she could talk about it properly. He asks her not to tell anyone that they were at the club when the raid happened - she does, with Ken and Rob taking the flack.
...Until Wayne shoots his mouth off in interview, in front of Gina, about an undercover officer being in the club.
Tumblr media
Gina reports it to Adam, who calls for June. He questions her about David Radford having a relationship with one of the officers. She has no idea at all - but it doesn't take long for the penny to drop. Gina is adamant that Kerry would have taken the undercover job - and is furious she's dragged Smithy along with her.
Kerry tells Gina it's all rubbish, Gina tells her to wait and not go anywhere else. Kerry asks why and Gina outright says she doesn't believe Kerry is telling the truth. She goes to talk to Smithy. Smithy knows he can't bluff Gina and tries to tell a version of the truth that sounds innocent. Gina knows what he's doing and is curious why he'd do it given that Kerry made his life hell with the rape allegation that never was. She tells him she backed him then and she'd back him now.
"... I don't know what you're talking about, ma'am."
"I'm not an idiot! I know exactly what Kerry has been up to!"
"Honestly ma'a-"
"Look Smithy, your job is on the line here! If she goes down, you go down with her! Is that what you want? To lose your job because some silly cow couldn't take no for an answer?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Smithy, being loyal stupid Smithy, refuses to take Gina's lifeline offer.
Smithy admits to the other three that Gina is on to them, but urges them to stick to the same story as they'd be home and dry. There's nothing she can prove.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Wanna bet?"
In the canteen Ken and Rob panic and Rob tries to blame Kerry. Smithy points out he put his neck on the line to get Rob and Ken out of trouble and they're going to pay him back by doing the same for Kerry. Rob just scoffs and asks him why he's going out of his way to protect her. Kerry looks at him, clearly wondering the same thing.
In Gina's office, Irene and David enjoy playing word games with the truth, but ultimately deny knowing Kerry and say she wasn't in the club and Wayne must have his facts wrong. David does know a blonde Kerry, but she can't be a copper. She's far too irresponsible for a role like that.
Tumblr media
Both women, whilst waiting for David to speak to Wayne's solicitor, clearly know the truth and they both know that the other knows the truth. They make a formidible pairing.
Tumblr media
Gina confronts Kerry in the locker rooms and tells her that she knows what happened and, not only that, she's about to make it her mission to ensure she gets thrown out of the MET. (and away from Smithy!)
Outside Rob doesn't know when to let things lie - he follows Kerry out and begs her for some information against the Radfords. She tells him she has nothing - but in her bag there are passports that she took from the stack in the office...
Smithy follows Kerry out and tells her to get some rest. She asks him why he risked his life and job for her. He replies "Why do you think?" She tries to kiss him and he pulls away, telling her she doesn't need that now and he hurries back inside.
At a high rise carpark, Kerry waits for a car to approach her. Inside is David - and she shows him the passports she stole. "You better get in."

13.66 The Wrath of God
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
TEMBO: No life after death, huh? Well, how’s about that? Quite a tall order, wouldn’t you say? SKASE: We’ve cracked worse cases.
Nice contrast between Jim and Rod here. They’re both skeptics, but Jim is better at hiding it (and Rod doesn’t see the need to) and Rod just doesn’t understand at all why Jim would let the head teacher go on believing that her message to her dead husband has been received.
A nice guest appearance by Brian Bovell (Rob Thatcher) as the dodgy reverend.

Smiffina Episodes - Episodes 238
Kerry is horrified by what she found in the back of the van, telling David and Irene she had just gone looking for David, heard crying and opened the door. David warns her to keep her mouth shut or else. "David, there's no need for that. Kerry's a bright girl. She knows what would happen even if she were to mention it in her sleep, don't you dear?" Irene assures him, her voice dripping with sweetness despite her words. Besides, Irene assures her, the girls are destined for new happy and protected lives. She orders David to move the girls into the club and says Kerry has to stay with her. Kerry falls asleep on Irene's settee and overhears the brothers talking about the girls. Whilst she was asleep her Irene took her phone. Kerry assures David she hasn't changed her feelings about him, she still wants him. Whether she stays or goes, she still knows about the girls. She begs him to let her stay and he gives in, kissing her. He warns her to keep quiet and just play the game whenever Irene is around.
Tumblr media
Gina tries to talk to Jonathan but he's too busy, claiming he's got a lot on. Later she tries to ask him out for lunch but he refuses, "Not today." She explains she tried to ring him the night before to talk but he didn't answer, Jonathan excusing it as having been at Parents Evening for Chloe.
One of girls cries out in the room that the girls are beind head. Kerry runs through with David and finds that one has been stabbed because she 'wouldn't do what he asked' when one of the goons tried to get their leg over. She needs medical help and David just wants her out of the building and to a dodgy surgeon. The girl dies in the back of the van before they can get there. On the way to a job, Smithy teases Reg about kissing Marilyn at the reception. "You're a dirty dog, Reg." " Looked like you were giving her mouth to mouth!" A couple of cars ahead of them is the van that David and Kerry are in with the body of the dead girl. Kerry spots them and tells David there's a warrant out for her after she skipped bail 18m ago. He drives off, but not before Reg catches a quick glimpse of Kerry as they turn the corner. David gets Kerry out of the van and distracted and then sets fire to it complete with the girls body in the back. It explodes in a fireball - no DNA, no traces, no anything. Kerry dumps her bank card at the scene.
Tumblr media
The next morning, Smithy asks Gina if she's heard from Kerry as she hasn't called the station. Smithy wonders if it has anything to do with the fact that she wasn't allowed to work the Radford case. Sheelagh calls in the van fire and reports the body in the back, asking for Inspector Gold.
At the club, the Radford brothers are arguing over the girl that died. Irene orders Wayne out and declares that it's dealt with. She wants them to get changed and has warmed slightly towards Kerry, giving her a change of clothes. Kerry asks for her phone back and Irene looks unimpressed. David reassures Kerry and she asks to go home - right as Rob arrives at the club looking for Kerry. Realising he's been seen he tries to leave. David has him escorted out - nicely this time - with a threat it won't be so friendly next time.
Irene refuses to let Kerry leave, believing her ABH story. She doesn't want her picked up at the club as it'd give the police an excuse to search the club and find the room full of illegals. She lingers by a gated area with a drink, excusing herself to be just having time to think, in the hope that a passing police car might see her. As she looks up she spots the room the girls are being held in with one staring helplessly out at her.
Now it's light enough, Smithy leads the search of the area around the burnt out van. The poor girl has 80% burns and no ID, they've no way of tracing who she is if they don't find any evidence. They find the card that Kerry dumped but as it's in an undercover name - Kerry Bennett - they don't link it yet. Smithy runs her name through the system and it's all linked in so that Rob is named as the officer who 'arrested' her. Smithy goes to talk to him about it. Rob panics when he hears about the body - thinking it could be Kerry's. He runs out of CID followed by Ken. They arrive in time to see the van being driven out of the yard. Ken demands to know what the matter is... shocked when he heard about Kerry being undercover. He begs Ken not to tell anyone else. He insists the DCI needs to know, Kerry could be dead, and Ken races out the room.
Gina enters Jonathan's room to find him packing. He's transfering to another station. Gina asks him to stay and he says he can't be around her - she doesn't want to commit to him so he's moving on. He asks what she's scared of? Would dropping her barriers and letting someone in who could truly love her and make her happy be that bad? Gina's voice cracks as she tells him she's alright. "I know you're alright. Don't you think you deserve more than 'alright'?" Swallowing tears, Gina runs out the room. Later she visits the room to find it empty but for an envelope with a picture of them from the wedding and 'Be happy' written on the back. She sinks onto the edge of the desk and tries not to cry.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kerry sees Irene leading one of her 'clients' out of the club and the Radford brothers going into another room. She takes the opportunity to ring Rob to let him know she's OK - just in time to stop Ken going to the DCI too. Irene finds her and Kerry covers saying she was going to ring her boss to let them know she wasn't going into work. Suspicious, Irene tells David not to let Kerry out of his sight. Kerry hears Irene tell them that they're going to move the girls and follows David into the room where the girls are being kept. One is poorly and Kerry volunteers to take her to the bathroom. There the girl begs her to help and Kerry promises that she'll get her out. In desperation the girl kisses her hand.
Smithy is suspicious after Ken practically barged into him in his hurry to get to the DCI and after he visits CID and spots Ken and Rob in a hushed angry conversation. He knows Kerry was meant to go undercover, he knows Kerry hasn't appeared at work or rung in... He asks Ken to report to his office in 10 minutes. He's even more suspicious after their chat, despite Ken being unable to tell him anything. He goes out to his car and visits her house, finding noone at home.
At the club, Irene disturbs David and Kerry midkiss and tells them that one of the girls is kicking off. They move to find out what is happening, only for it to reveal Smithy sat in the shadows. Irene tests Kerry and orders her to hit the protesting girl whilst David restrains her.
