Let me just make a simple statement of fact: Sam Vimes only has to duck his head slightly to stand comfortably in dwarf houses. The man is short.
#discworld#sam vimes#we don't as far as i'm aware get any concrete numbers on how tall discworld dwarves are#(other than iirc carrot being described as six foot six and his father coming up to his waist??)#(by my estimate that would be about four feet???)#but yeah if dwarves tend to build with similar ceiling heights as humans do there's no way vimes is much more than 5'5

sigh.day 18 i fell victim to the evils of .gestures at this
just look only at the center spire and squint really really hard i prommy its sick
#hermitaday#artnios#i Dont Like this i was super excited like wow this is gonna be so sick . then i did all the details of the main spire started getting worn#out but i was like itll look so cool tho . zoom out and it looks like shit llmao . it was all smooth the sides were straight no texture .#sorta fixed it and then got sick of switching tabs.i thiunk this woulda gotten a lot further except i thought it would be a neat challenge#to just reference the actual minecraft build. but switching tabs was not fun ! and at some point (after i gave up on details) just . made i#up and scribbled around till it looked . like maybe something someone tried on lmao . sighs . started wayyy too late to do this to my#satisfaction. so theres that thing ppl say sometimes like 'haha you can see exactly where i started burning out ' and i look at it and its#all good and no i cant tell where they burnt out . this is like that except u can actually tell lmao . becauase theres no lines<3#if i did the sky less Bright and got some shadows in itd help a lot i think but unfortuanetly im tired and work tomorrow aand i can probabl#just tell myself im gonna do it better next year . or smthin . oh well ....#i wanna take an Actual Ref Pic so i dont have to swap tabs and estimate everything . and then try this drawing again . but that seems like#too easy lol . but ill still do it and try to keep it stylized . hopefully....#also sry for the id being simpler bc i .really dont have energy . to describe everything id want to describe. and most of it isnt even ther#apologies if this comes off as too self deragatory i just know that with time i can def do better and im sad i didnt. wanted to make#something real impressive in a few hours lol. alas

Ghilasara Codex: Day 2 - Letter from your OC to their love interest
Masterpost of all prompts and Ghilasara codex entries can be found HERE.
[written within the first year after the events of the game]
Love,
This letter will likely find you already after you are done with your contract. If that’s the case, I would appreciate a prompt reply just to be sure you are alive, well, and hopefully not even sporting any new wounds.
I took a trip to Weisshaupt with some of the remaining Wardens. There were only a few of us — it was a scouting mission, not a reconquering attempt — but it appears, the Darkspawn have just… left? Well, the fortress itself at least, there is still plenty around. But we wouldn’t have to retake it to live there, just clean off the Blight. Of which there’s still a lot, and there is a ton of rebuilding we’d need to do, so it wouldn’t be a day’s work. But still, Weisshaupt being an option was the last thing I expected.
With the last Blight over, the order is changing, and I don’t know what’s best for us. Should we reclaim Weisshaupt as a part of our history, or leave it behind to forge something new? I’m too attached to all the nights spent hungover at the dungeon to just leave it to rot, but I can’t say how many other Wardens share my sentimentality.
We are back at Lavendel for now, though, and if there’s something I know for sure, it's that it’s the one place I will never let become our official base. I keep asking Bellara if this place could be under some ancient Elven spell, but she insists it’s just the weather. I still can’t believe it. Creators, it’s so wet here.
And lonely. I miss you. The only thing that makes your absence bearable is knowing you'd probably ruin another pair of good boots trudging through the swamps, and I'd much rather you did not. I hope that you are safe and warm, and that we’ll see each other soon.
Please let me know as soon as you are in Vi’Revas’s reach, and I’ll be there. Tell Spite I love him (and never forget that I love you).
Drenched and tired, but still yours,
Rook
#love is stored in “I miss you but also love you so much I would not wish you were there with me in this shitty bog”#(unlike me Ghilasara hates the bog)#“written within x years” is also as much of a time estimate as I'm willing to give on most post-canon things#if anyone asks me to build an exact timeline of things I will explode into flowerilliion pieces. nobody wants *that* to happen#flowers writes#oc: ghilasara thorne#flowers.txt#dragon age#rookanis#lucanisara

Alright guys so I printed out a scale copy based on my original size for the quilt and, uh, it was big. Like, this wouldn't fit on a twin-sized bed big. So I've reduced the size a bit to something more manageable! (CD for scale, please ignore the other stuff in the room lol)
The new size will be approximately 52" high by 35"-ish wide.
Since I'm trying to make this as precise as possible I spent the evening struggling with math, lol. If people know any free, Mac-friendly programs I would appreciate it, haha. I made a mockup in Photoshop that I *think* is more exact but we won't know until I start assembling because, have I mentioned this before, I am terrible at math, lol.
I made the mockup in this way because I can use the magic wand tool to get the precise measurements of what each of those pieces are, knowing that I'll need to add a 1/4 inch seam allowance to everything.
Based on my estimates I think I'm going to need the following approximate yardage (assuming the bolt is 40" wide cotton):
1/4 yard maroon for borders
1/4 yard red for borders
1/4 yard blue for squares
1/4 yard gold for squares
1/2 yard blue background
1 yard black for trims and binding
1/2 yard red bird
1/2 yard zebra white
1 yard red orange
1/2 yard magenta
1 yard gold
1/2 yard light yellow
1/2 yard green leaves
1/2 yard bark brown
+ assorted golds, gauzes, etc.
I'm going to a quilt show tomorrow to do some initial color and fabric scouting, wish me luck! I'll be sure to take pics of anything I bring home and keep you all posted. :)
#let's build a quilt#rin sews stuff#measuring....#math is the bane of my existence#why was astrophysics easier than figuring out simple math estimates lol

i bought a used wheelchair off ebay and it's supposed to arrive on monday and tbh im so excited !! ik it's gonna take awhile to build up more arm strength but im so much wagging my tail at the idea of being able to do short lil mental health walks with it
#borbtalks#im also in the process of getting a wheelchair through insurance but alas#it takes a lot of time#my dme company's tracker page is like 'yeah boss we're still collecting all your medical documentation. it's gonna take us til october.'#plus adding time for submitting to insurance + any appeals + and then for the company to actually build the chair...#originally they estimated i would get my chair approx sept-oct. with a lil delay i caused i thought it would be nov#but besties im uhh slightly worried that this chair isn't gonna get to me until the holidays 😅#anyway. buying a used chair off ebay seems like an even greater decision#not only for having a backup chair#but also for having a chair asap#(dme company didn't have any loaners + they directed me to a rental company that just does hospital style chairs...#... and it's bad to use hospital style chairs long term bc their wheel axle is too far back + will fuck up ur shoulders)

The sand filling is the procedure of placing and comparing the sand into the depressions, voids and the excavated areas in the soil. This sand-filling procedure has been used to improve the soil condition by filling the gaps in the soil. This helps to provide a level surface in the ground thus helping to increase the overall stability of the construction unit.
In various types of construction contexts including embankments, foundations and road construction sites, the sand filling procedure can be used. The sand filling process also helps to provide strength to the construction structure to stand with natural calamities. The density and stability of the construction structure have been also ensured by the sand filling procedure.
The purposes of sand filling procedure in the building foundation
The primary purposes of the sand filling process are:
Levelling process
The main purpose of the sand filling procedure is to create a smooth surface which helps to make it easy for the placement of the construction materials.
Stabilization process
Another purpose of the sand filling procedure is to increase the soil stability by filling the voids in the soil thus helping to reduce the risk of settlement of the construction structure.
Protection
The other purpose of the sand filling process is to shield the underlying layers of the construction structure from damage as well as from contamination during the conduction of the construction activities.
The importance of conducting the sand filling process in the construction process
The stability of the soil
A variety of particles has been used including silica and other elements has been used to make sand which influences the bounding nature of the sand. This nature helps to prevent the breaking of the sand while it is exposed to external factors like erosion and wind.

she-ra tumblr i need your input, about how old do you think micah is when we see him in light spinner and how old do you think he is when we find him on beast island?
i realized that since we see the horde capturing the black garnet in light spinner, micah's age then and now would be a really good way to measure the age of the etherian horde.
#she-ra#she-ra and the princesses of power#spop#i have an idea of how the timeline could work with two long periods of minimal conflict#first being after the horde captures the black garnet and builds the fright zone#and the second being after the first princess alliance dissolves and both sides lick their wounds#(i think this is also likely about the time micah was captured)#but i'm not sure on numbers without a good estimate of micah's age in light spinner and beast island

Planning and estimating construction projects are crucial to their success. There are many complex processes involved. As part of this process, construction takeoffs are essential. Construction takeoffs are itemized and quantified lists of the materials, labor, and other resources required for construction projects.
Construction takeoffs are essential to project estimation, planning, and success in general. They give a thorough analysis of the necessary labor, materials, and resources, allowing for precise cost estimation and efficient project management. With enhanced accuracy and time savings, the process has been further streamlined with the introduction of digital takeoff tools and BIM-based solutions.
Importance of Construction Takeoffs
Accurate project estimation
Accurate project estimation is built on the foundation of construction takeoffs. Takeoffs give project stakeholders a thorough grasp of the project scope and associated costs by estimating the materials, equipment, and labor required. Realistic timetables and budgets can be created with the use of this information.
Enhanced project planning
A crucial aspect of project planning is takeoffs. Construction teams may create accurate project timetables, manage resources wisely, and spot potential bottlenecks or areas that need extra care with a full assessment of the available resources. This degree of planning ensures that the construction process runs more smoothly and helps to avoid delays and expensive change orders.
Improved communication and collaboration
Communication among project stakeholders is standardized by construction takeoffs. Takeoffs allow for simple and clear communication between architects, contractors, suppliers, and other team members by quantifying and clarifying requirements. This promotes teamwork and increases overall project efficiency by cutting down on ambiguity and errors.
Methods for Construction Takeoffs
Manual takeoffs
Traditional manual takeoffs entail looking at blueprints, plans, and specifications to manually calculate the amount of resources and materials needed. Even though it takes a lot of time and is prone to mistakes, this method is still employed occasionally, especially for smaller projects or when digital versions of certain details are not available.
Digital takeoff software
The building sector has undergone a change since the introduction of digital takeoff software. By eliminating laborious computations and lowering human error, these software solutions allow users to electronically measure quantities directly from digital designs. Software for digital takeoffs streamlines the process by providing features like annotation tools, automatic measurements, and simple cooperation.

I own a Wii and Twilight Princess at this point btw. I could set it up at any time. But what if. Instead of doing that. I just played more Majora's Mask.
#Mostly this is the depression. Been having a Time Of It#That said part of it is also that howlongtobeat says it takes around 50 hours to complete tp#Which is how long i spent on skyward sword HD#Accounting for Dumbassery I'll probably spend even longer on twilight princess#And I won't lie. I am not. Looking forward to that#By far my biggest issue with skyward sword was its pacing#It took WAY too long to do ANYTHING in that game#Getting sent on meaningless 'redirected by the reception' pre-dungeon quests is an loz staple true#But skyward sword rlly elevated it to an artform it should NOT take me 6 hours to reach the FIRST dungeon#I liked skyward sword overall don't get me wrong but by the end it rlly felt like pulling nails#I'm pretty sure I straight up rage quit after levias told me the song of the hero was split in 3 lol#I was squinting at every new plot point like 'I dare you to send me on another fucking fetch quest asshole'#Anyway based on estimated play time I'll probably face similar issues with twilight princess#Not to mention the artstyle is extremely unappealing to me. I don't wanna look at that for 50 hours#Don't get me wrong I'm sure I'll enjoy the game#I've had my misgivings about LOZ games before and they've always pleasantly surprised me#But ugh. Not looking forward to 50 hours of getting redirected by the reception in a drab-coloured building#My posts
