Overview This particular Highlander IIC - nicknamed Caber IIC - was custom-built for Tara Jade Falcon by direct order of Jade Falcon Khan Stephanie Chistu - deliberately using a combination of technicians from Clan Jade Falcon and the Northwind Highlanders, Tara's former command. Rumors that the 'Mech was an engagement gift continue to swirl among the Jade Falcon touman; though no announcement has been forthcoming, sightings of a 'Mech-scale engagement ring have been attested.

Capabilities Caber IIC has been uprated by a full 10 tons. As such, some question whether the 'Mech counts as a Highlander any longer, but as it retains the same shape and size as prior to the refit, some warriors of Clan Jade Falcon find this argument spurious. The 'Mech started life as a Highlander IIC 4 captured from Clan Hell's Horses by the Sudeten-based Jade Falcon Remnant. It was upgraded to SLDF "Royal" standards by swapping the ATM launchers for Improved variants, and the Gauss rifle was replaced with a capacitor-equipped Clan Extended Range PPC, the combination enabling both enhanced range and significantly increased damage, all without the need for ammunition. The torso mounted medium pulse lasers and Artemis V-equipped LRM 20 remain, though a ton of LRM ammuniton was dropped from the original loadout. A micro pulse laser underslung the ERPPC adds a small amount of additional close range damage as well as serving as an anti-infantry weapon. At Tara's personal insistence, the 'Mech was refit with Triple Strength Myomer and Talons were integrated into the 'Mech's feet, enabling devastating kicks and Death From Above attacks. However, the true purpose of the TSM is to enable enormously damaging swings from the handheld sword-styled Hatchet (inspired by the Hatchets carried by ComStar "Clanbuster" Black Knights at the Battle of Tukayyid) that sits in a massive 'Mech-scale sheath on the 'Mech's back. Thanks to a supercharger, the 'Mech is capable of speeds of up to 86.4 kph when the Triple Strength Myomer is also active. A battle computer working in tandem with a Neutron Star CEWS (based on captured Nova CEWS units) allows Tara to coordinate her actions with the rest of the Turkina Keshik command Star. Thirteen double heat sinks, a combat computer, and a Radical Heat Sink system ensure the 'Mech can fire all of its heat- and accuracy-tuned weapons without overheating. The 'Mech's cockpit and head have had substantial additional armoring added in accordance with standard Third Star League design principles.

Deployment Built in mid-3151, Caber IIC serves in the command Star of Turkina Keshik of Clan Jade Falcon, piloted solely by Tara Jade Falcon.

History Caber IIC has so far seen service only a handful of times so far - the first mission for the 'Mech was part of Jade Falcon forces during the Third Star League's Operation PERSUASION. It was during the drop on Caph that Tara - fighting alongside her lover and Khan Stephanie Chistu - was reunited with Cadha Jaffray of Northwind. This meeting and the frank discussions that resulted would ultimately culminate in the accession of Northwind to the Third Star League in December 3152, and result in an agreement between the Falcons and the Northwind Highlanders to share the planet under the New Jointly-Owned Worlds Agreement of 3153. The second notable mission to date took place in October 3152 - Khan Chistu led a Falcon/SLDF force to "rescue" the Jade Falcon Remnants centered around Sudeten. On this mission, it was Tara's personal intervention that saved the lives of Khan Jiyi Chistu, Star Commander Alexis "Ghostbird" Zarnofsky, and Star Colonel Xander Pryde (soon to become Loremaster of Clan Jade Falcon) during a Hell's Horses ambush.

Overview The Wolfhound IIC is the rebuilt version of "Grinner", Phelan Kell's Wolfhound BattleMech. This configuration represents the 'Mech as part of the personal stable of LCAF Generalleutnant Gabriel Christopher Bisclavret von Thiess III in 3153, who was granted the 'Mech as thanks for his efforts in locating the parties responsible for stealing it in the early 32nd century. In its refit configuration, "Grinner" stood by the throne of the Archon for several years, helping the Lyran Royal Guards defend their sovereign.

Capabilities This 3130s refit configuration uses a composite internal structure and an XL engine to save weight, while also mounting six and a half tons of ferro-fibrous armor, the most that can be squeezed onto the chassis. For the 'Mech's 3130s refit, a Nova CEWS suite - one of a handful of examples captured by the Lyran Commonwealth from Clan Hell's Horses raiders - provides additional defense against enemy electronics, as well as scouting and command capabilities. The head protection granted by an armored cockpit was further reinforced in the form of an armored cowl, which itself was further armored. While the full head ejection system remained, extensive balancing and adjustment was necessary to ensure the extra head armor did not interfere with the system's use.

Deployment The IIC variant of the Wolfhound is a straight improvement to the Wolfhound, with improved range, damage, and heat control. The arm-mounted Series 7K ER large laser is its most powerful and longest-range weapon, complemented by a trio of torso-mounted Kolibri Omega Series medium pulse lasers that deliver precision firepower. When the 'Mech was refit in the 3130s, an XL gyro was mounted to allow for necessary weight savings. The utilization of 10 double heat sinks, a combat computer, and improved cooling jackets on the large laser and pulse lasers are sufficient to keep heat levels in the correct range to allow maximal use of the installed Triple Strength Myomer. In addition, Gabriel added enough jump jets to allow "Grinner" to leap up to 180 meters at a time, each jet enhanced with advanced thrust vectoring to allow precise flight control and maneuverability.

History The design team tasked with rebuilding Grinner in the 3050s was initially set on using some of the weight savings of Clan technology to mount an anti-missile system in the design, but the technicians eventually decided that it would go against the Wolfhound's design specification as an all-energy weapon platform with no ammunition concerns. It was not until the 'Mech came into the use of Gabriel von Thiess that this addition was realized - the rear-mounted ER medium laser was removed, and the saved weight and space was then used to install a laser-based anti-missile system in a 360 degree rotating mount on Grinner's left shoulder. This addition fulfilled the design team's original intent of increasing the 'Mechs defensive capabilities, while still allowing "Grinner" to remain independent of ammuntion.

Going out to keep in touch with the things that are happening in my community by having a talk with a barangay official is something I would have never thought of doing. I have always been so busy doing other things that I sometimes do not have enough time to stop and be concerned about the state of my environment. Especially now that there are a lot of requirements in school, and there are a lot of tasks handed down to me, I am really grateful to have an opportunity like this as an avenue to become knowledgeable and more aware of what is happening in my own community. A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of meeting with Mr. Arcadio Castro, the local barangay official of Barangay Lambakin, Marilao, Bulacan. 

Before I walked around the streets of Lambakin, I asked him a couple of questions regarding the current situation of the community. I found out that they conduct DRRM seminars in different schools in order to raise awareness about the possible disasters that could come and also to educate and prepare them on what to do in times of calamities and natural disasters. According to Mr. Arcadio Castro, conducting such seminars are important in order to prevent any accidents and casualties in the future, and this is one of their strategies that would ensure the safety of the citizens. I also asked if there are any problems or places in the community that could possibly be hazards that may bring harm to the community in times of disasters, however, he said that they always roam around to check for such hazards, and fix them immediately if ever there was one. He also mentioned that the barangay officials go around the community to spread out warnings and updates whenever there is an impending typhoon, that way, the citizens would all be informed from time to time.
