— extra info for those not familiar with the academy series by c.l. stone ;
I know I'm gaining more readers, those who aren't familiar with the academy, so I'll do a short explanation of what you'll be seeing from the academy!
In short, the academy series is a reverse harem/polyamory series set in Charleston, South Carolina.
( so you'll be seeing multiple men date the same women in this book, so don't be shocked lmfaoo ) most of this won’t happen until we are well into the story — but I’d hate to confuse all of you! I’d like every single one of you to enjoy and understand the story completely!
The academy ( that MFC won't be much involved or at all ) is basically a top secret organization that specializes in helping men, women, and children who are in an abusive relationship or homes and help them get out of that — most join the academy to help others in the same situations.
There are teams that work together and are basically a family in all but blood; and "family is a choice".
The men in teams are referred to as "dogs" and the female team members are referred to as "birds".
'Ghosts', whether birds or dogs, are children without much history to their names. They are priceless to the Academy.
The Academy's system works on a series of favor and financial debt. Everyone in the Academy starts out with financial debt. It's the value of the education an Academy student requires to become the best at what he does. If it was a private investigation training class or an eight-week boot camp, or you were starving and needed groceries to get through a human biology class, the Academy took care of it. Your debt can't just be paid off directly, it requires completing various Academy missions. Whatever it is, there is a price tag.
Favors though are the real core of the Academy. Favors are anything that doesn't have a price - usually family problems within the Academy that other members can't handle alone. New members owe ten favors immediately, with the maximum owed being thirty. The value of a task in favors varies depending on the task.
All Academy trials are comprised of the same parties: the whole team, plus five randomly selected members from other teams, presided over by a manager who has collected all the data. There is no age minimum for the randomly selected members, the only requirement is that they had to be past initiation and a full member of the Academy. The ultimate goal at a trial is to keep the family together as much as possible.
Each team has two leads. The first is the main contact for the Academy, they track the jobs the members go on, and let them know what jobs are available. The second is the family lead, who keeps track of all the team members, and makes sure that everything runs smoothly for them - ensuring they have food, bills are paid on time, and everyone that needs a job has one.
Most of this information is from the academy wiki site ( 'cause it's fuckin' complicated to explain it all )
but I want you all to be able to understand it enough to enjoy the story without being confused!
Most of the time, I'll explain through River and my other characters.
I hope this makes sense!
River won't be very involved in the academy, but there will be mentions and most of River's story revolves around, not only Jungkook and Moon, but River's brothers, friends, and family!
Please let me know if there is anything that you'll misunderstand and I'll explain to the best of my ability!
✨ HAPPY READING ✨

Mr. Cheapo’s (Commack) shopping list, 2018.
If there was one store that started it all for me, it was Mr. Cheapo’s. It was the first in a long line of mom-and-pop record stores that sold used titles. Brentwood’s Pine Hollow Video was the first store I went for all my hip-hop and rap CDs and cassettes, but realizing that my interest in music was growing, Mr. Cheapo’s showed me what potential was about. The first year of earning a paycheck was the same year I discovered this store. It was where I bought my first stack of used CDs notably from Pearl Jam, Marilyn Manson, and Filter, whose “Dose” promotional single would be the first-ever I’d buy. It’s been around for decades and hasn’t been renovated as long. It’s also the only record store on Long Island to have two locations: Commack and Mineola.
Cheapo’s is just like Talking Heads: same as it ever was. Nothing has changed except for its’ overall stock. New releases behind the counter, near-endless bins of new and used vinyl and CDs with a cassette wall nearing the back. What used to be shelves upon shelves of VHS tapes now have the most extensive used DVD and Blu-ray library of any store. Vintage and classic vinyl 12″ and 45′s were pinned up on the back walls. Boxsets, posters, other 45′s, music-related books, DVDs, and more rows of obvious titles on vinyl and CD made up the rest of the store’s real estate. And plenty of shelves of used pop CDs for $3 each. No. Thank. You.
I didn’t scan the entire store as I was uninterested in all those used pop CDs, so I go right to the jazz / fusion section as I always do. About seven to eight columns wide with another three for soul, funk, and R&B, they didn’t let me down. One, two, three Bob James albums; the stuff of samplists. Blackbyrds, George Benson, and Deodato were mine and so was Jon Lucien whose “A Sunny Day” stood as one of my most-played tracks of all time. Tough that wasn’t found on his Columbia’s Best Of… The Hubert Laws that I passed up a while ago? It’s back in the bin and I wouldn’t make the same mistake twice. What I also picked up was The Rolling StonesUndercover. Once in my possession, I decided to give it away to friend and collector Tommy when he found a dump of 500 records one of his customers threw out on the sidewalk.
A category I haven’t thumbed through in a minute was the hip-hop section, we’re not talking vinyl. For the first time in a while I scored some good titles on disc.Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth and Naughty By Nature were titles that’d be in my collection starting out in the Brentwood days. Jedi Mind Tricks because Vinnie Paz is real underground hip-hop. Got to have M.I.A. in my collection, too. Then I come across P.O.S. whose truly-innovative packaging with interchangeable transparent and solid panels with CMYK theme caught my eye. It harkened back to the pre-internet days of discovering certain artists you never knew existed by purchasing blind. An inquiry for anything Suicide led me to search through the punk bins where I found The Unseen. Watching The Blank Generation made me seeRichard Hell & The VoidoidsBlank Generation disc with bonus tracks in the bins but at first passed it up. Then I find the vinyl re-issue of the same album with live and alternatve versions for double the asking price. In that case, I ended up going for the disc version.
I rounded out my two-hour visit with other odds and ends. Other titles I bought for $2.00 and less were The Jerky Boys, Katt Williams, and Last Stop Standing, a record-shopping documentary. How fitting! Finally, I got a Paula Abdul cassette, one I used to have in my collection until my bro- misplaced it on me. Like I have to answer to any of you.

Discovery of Mesolithic rock paintings
D. Ravinder Reddy and Dr. Muralidhar Reddy have discovered Mesolithic rock paintings in Seetamma Loddy, Telangana.Seethamma Loddy is located at Gattusingaram in Peddapalli district. The rock paintings found here belong to the Mesolithic period (10,000-12,000 years ago) and the early historic period (1st BC to 6th century). They were found on a large sandstone rock in the forest.A fossil stone containing shells has also been found which suggests that the site is approximately 65 million years old.Dr. Muralidhar Reddy has described the site as a “diamond mine” of rock paintings, like Pandavula Gutta located in Jayashankar Bhupalapalli district. Pictures found on rock paintings - There are depictions of human figures on it. - Both men and women are performing group dance in line and round patterns. - Everyone is holding each other's hands and wearing special types of shoes. - A picture of a person with a bow and arrow has been found. - Several handprints of different sizes in red color were found in some of the paintings. - Some white and yellow handprints have also been found, which are rare. - Among other figures, footprints of some animals like deer, antelope, tortoise, wild cat, carnivores, monkeys, wild lizards are prominent. Stone age - In the Stone Age, humans used stones to make tools. The Stone Age is divided into three phases - Paleolithic period: Period – 500,000 – 10,000 B.C. - Mesolithic period: Period – 10,000 – 6000 B.C. - Neolithic period: Period – 6000 – 1000 B.C. Mesolithic period - The Mesolithic site in India was first discovered by C.L. Carlyle did this in Vindhya region in the year 1867 AD. - The tools of the Mesolithic period are extremely small in size. - The humans of this period were mostly dependent on hunting, but now they started hunting cows, bulls, sheep, goats, buffaloes etc. - These people had also learned to do some agriculture. - By the last stage, he had also learned to make utensils. - The mausoleums of Sarayanahar Rai and Mahdaha also provide information about the funeral rites of the people of this period. - They buried the dead in mausoleums and also kept food items, tools and weapons along with them. - Perhaps this was indicative of belief in some kind of extraterrestrial life. The Flames of Immortality
A Knight pushed open the doors to a large chamber, his once shining armor was dented, scratched, with wet and dried blood splattered on it. He pulled off his dented and broken helmet, reveling his short brown hair, tanned skin, and long face. The right side of his face was swollen, his right eye was almost swollen shut, his lips were bloody, and several of his teeth were freshly broken.
The chamber was large, a circular room, nearly a hundred feet wide, made of gray to light-brown stone blocks. Eighteen torches lit the room over eighteen windows ten feet off the ground. At the other end of the room, sat a dragon. The dragon looked at the knight, the irises of his human-like eyes glowed orange, it had six dark gray-brown spike like horns, it’s scales were tan-gray and there were face like patterns in it’s scales.
The knight unsheathed his sword as he walked forward. The dragon stood and stepped towards the knight. It was thirty feel long and stood thirteen feet tall.
“You come for immortality.” The dragon spoke in a deep raspy voice, “I can give this to you but at a terrible price.”
“Beast!” The Knight sneered, “I have fought man, beast, and demon to get here!” he yelled, “Get out of my way or you will join them in hell!”
The Dragon laughed. The Knight ran forward, stabbed the dragon in the throat. Only a small amount of thick black blood dripped from the wound. The Dragon pushed The Knight back. He fell onto his back, still gripping his sword. The dragon’s blood thick dark blood dried quickly on the sword. He got up, attracted the Dragon’s left leg, slicing to its bone. The wound healed almost instantly around the sword, bleeding little of the Dragon’s thick blood. The Dragon laughed. The Knight pulled his sword out of the Dragon, preparing to attack again. The Dragon pushed him down again, then inhaled deeply, opened its mouth, breathed fire onto Knight.
The Knight felt the heat of the fire, felt it burn his skin. He screamed in pain. The Dragon closed it’s mouth. The Knight was still alive, to his surprise. His wounds were healed, he felt his formerly broken teeth with his tongue, he felt his face, it was completely healed, even his old scares were gone.
The Dragon grabbed the Knights right arm, bending it, breaking the Knights bones. He screamed in pain, dropping his sword. The Dragon let go, the Knight felt his broken bones coming back together, healing almost instantly. The Dragon grabbed the Knight’s legs, it opened it’s mouth biting down on the Knights torso. The Knight felt the Dragon’s teeth pierce his armor. The Dragon lifted the Knight into the air, opened its mouth and swallowed the Knight whole.
The Knight felt the acid of the Dragon’s stomach burning his skin. Against his own efforts he tried to breath, inhaling the stomach acid. He knew he should be dead, he wandered how he was still alive, if he could talk he would have begged God for death.
“Bathed in the flames of immortality you can not die,” The Dragon told the Knight, “ but in my stomach your body will devolve, becoming one with mine, and your soul will feed me.”

books i read in 2024
Okay so last year I made a post where I was like, wow, I only read 12 books in 2022, but in 2023 I managed to read 30, isn't that impressive...
So, um, this year I hit 75 by the end of June.
Quite a bit of reading got done during a slow period at work in January. Then the autism/adhd found the challenges on Storygraph and got a bit hyperfixated - my two biggest months were May and June, with 15 and 20 books respectively.
Things slowed way down after October, since I've mostly been reading Agatha All Along fanfiction, which sadly doesn't count toward my total. I did manage to limp my way to a grand total of 125 by the end of December.

Per @aroaessidhe: Little Thieves, The Kindred, The Summer of Bitter and Sweet, Gender Queer, (and I think The Bone Season?) have ace or demisexual MCs, not aromantic. also, a lot of the rest are side characters, not main characters.
Thank you, genuinely, so much, for this correction. I'm very sorry for the mistake. I create these guides between work assignments (I work from home, around the clock, trying to make ends meet in this mess of an economy) and didn't do my due diligence in double-checking every book. I think this started as an aro/ace list I was compiling and I tried to separate it into two guides. I apologize for the discrepancy vehemently and will strive to do better in the future. Thank you for catching my error.

NOTE ;
Hi, everyone!
I'm so excited to be able to start writing the first chapter and I hope that you look forward to it! Be sure to add this book to your reading list or reblog to know when I update!
MOST IMPORTANT NOTE ; ( to those not familiar with the academy series by C.L. Stone )
I know I'm gaining more readers, those who aren't familiar with the academy, so I'll do a short explanation of what you'll be seeing from the academy!
In short, the academy series is a reverse harem/polyamory series set in Charleston, South Carolina.
( so you'll be seeing multiple men date the same women in this book, so don't be shocked lmfaoo )
The academy ( that MFC won't be much involved in ) is basically a top secret organization that specializes in helping men, women, and children who are in an abusive relationship or homes and help them get out of that — most join the academy to help others in the same situations.

Of the Beetle in Nature and Culture.
Finding creative inspiration in connections between the Arts and Science through the concept of symmetry Pt2.
The BEETLE (or COLEOPTERA) is an order of holometabola (or endopterygota), which means they undergo a complete metamorphosis between larval, pupal and adult stages. The beetle ia a bilateral animals are more or less symmetric with respect to the sagittal plane, while plants and sessile animals have radial or rotational symmetry (e.g. echinoderms have five fold rotational symmetry). Its order is a fascinating one, sporting somber and flamboyant pigmentation, and seemingly infinite aesthetic variations.
"Pigmentation in beetles comes either from pigmentation or optical interference or both factors in combination. […] Optical interference colours result when light reflecting and refracting through the micro-thin transparent outer layer of the cuticle interacts visually with the pigmented layer beneath." (Living Jewels, Poul Beckmann, Prestel-Verlag, 2004).
Some are aposematic (or at least batesian mimics): advertising by an animal through bright colours and patterns of its toxicity to predators, signalling it is not worth attacking or eating (e.g. hycleus lugens, coccinellidae, etc.). Others have effective camouflage.
Some beetles’ bright colours are ordinarily hidden by somber elytra, in order to stun the predators with their sudden appearance at take off.
Some are bioluminescent in order to attract attention and signal a potential mate, such as the lampyridae (commonly, fireflies), phengodidae and elateridae. These are delicately built and soft bodied, and their light varies in pattern and in colour (from light green to orange).
Historically, beetles have been mystified creatures, often associated with the creation of the universe (e.g. in ancient Egypt) or with sin (e.g. in christianity).
The scarabeus sacer (sacred scarab, dung beetle or kheper in ancient Egyptian) was linked with Khepri, god of creation and the rising sun, via imagery (the rolling of dung into a ball by the beetle resembled the rolling of the sun by the god) and etymology (kheper and Khepri both derive from the same root meaning ‘coming into being’ or ‘to transform’). The kheper also held funerary significance, as in the case of heart scarabs and of similitude between the pupa and the mummy.
Ritual objects and jewellery are often crafted from the elytra (the hard forewings, not actually usable for flying), or shapes of beetles made out of bone, ivory, stone, and tjehenet (a kind of faience, self-glazing clay).
