Thank you for coming here to pat my back, because the moment I saw the last sh*t show H gifted this fandom with I needed some love, probably a hug.

I am not proud of my pov, because what else can be seen there? I mean, I wished Harry’s content never took me to that dark reality in which he was unnecessarily showing off a huge tattoo by his groin: A tattoo that can perfectly be read as OLIVIA, the most recognized despicable partner he ever had & on the other hand the only one he has loved enough to ink her under his skin “forever”, a tattoo that he chose to get when looking miserably sick while walking the world by her side, breaking his fanbase’s hearts step by step: harries, larries & else.

Until here you have read the facts.

If from this point on people feel more comfortable thinking “Olivia” also stands for a pet, a town or a boat name. They can & probably will. Harry’s fans have learned (and I have been there too) to stand on that grey area he & his team created, the Fineline. Ironic ha?! A place in which he is het & gay, dating men & women… even at once, he can be working & on vacation, he can be spotted in different locations at once & be many things…anything & anyone we want him to be.

However, what makes him invencible is this fandom that delivers an unconditional support (which brought me a lot of thoughts about my role here) and lucky Harry (as hard it was for me to come down to this idea & therefore to write it now) always had some villain around to blame.

So yeah, I expected ridiculousness these “resting” days, but never EVER could imagine this. You have to wonder why he never showed it off before, maybe when LOT tickets were announced for instance.

The concert happened December 2020, after almost an entire year living under Covid’s impact. If there is something positive that year brought to this fandom was the Larry indirect but pretty obvious innuendo. Some sleepy larries came back and a lot of new larries came on board with great hopes.

For some, the boys were the only a nice space of aspiration and motivation, with new projects ahead to be happy about. That was 2020, we know what came after, but for me Louis taking his only public chance to make an statement: “H” is loud, the icing of a cake you didn’t know you needed. As simple as that he reassured the larries’ before one of the hardest periods for this fandom kicked off. So is this a convenient move to what was being built along the year? Yes, enhancing growth is always a win (who stands for the opposite idea?). However, these moves can always be a risk we know what is on the other side of the balance and as such they have to be carefully done; also, there was no “need”. As @daisiesonafield-blog said fans were already excited about his gig and no one was expecting such a HUGE move; a clear sign is the number of tickets sold.

So in the only plausible option to perform and with no vision on what the future would bring for him on this grounds, considering that he might be standing on a “this could be my only chance ever”. Louis Tomlinson decided to wear the biggest H he could find, even knowing he had already sold +160k tickets, success was served. What was the need? Of course, making a point.

Saw your post about Louis shirt that had a letter H on it and how that could mean something. How do we know he picked that out himself? Even for a livestream he could’ve had a stylist pick out his outfit or give him a couple options. I have a hard time reading too much into t-shirt ya know?

It very well may be one of the options of clothing his stylist presented him with. But it certainly wasn’t his stylist coming to him and being like “hey wear this”. Like he has a choice. His stylist likely had several options that they came up with of different outfits he could wear. We don’t know if the shirt was a coincidence - like if it just happened to be one of the options or if it was planned and asked for.

But regardless of that, he knew exactly what it would mean for him to wear the letter H on his chest. He’s not an idiot nor oblivious to his own fans and fandom. Plus H is Harry’s nickname. And he very well knows that. So regardless of how he came upon that shirt, his choice to actually wear it for his show was very intentional.

I mean, put yourself in his shoes. Having lived the last 10 years having a super intense fanbase, who are notorious for looking into every small detail, and a fanbase he knows is comprised of millions of people who think you are dating Harry. You see that shirt, and you’re like “oh I already know what they’re gonna think”. There’s no way he’s unaware of that. 

He knows what kind of message that would send.

And in regards to him using that to “lead larries on” or “bait larries”, I also don’t think that’s the case. This was his biggest solo show ever. Why would he do such a major thing simply to appease and continue to bait? Especially when the narrative is that he finds it annoying? He could very simply have picked a different tshirt. Like an Umbro shirt he loves to wear. Larries wouldn’t have been disappointed or “unlarried” if he had not worn the H shirt. Everyone was excited for his show. Including larries. If this is about baiting us in order to keep his fanbase and he chose to do that by overshadowing his own gig by wearing Harry’s name...like that simply makes zero sense to me. It also doesn’t sound very much like Louis. Like that Livestream was a moment for him. For his career. For himself. I don’t see him “tainting” that with a cheap bait towards his ex boyfriend/bandmate (as non-larries say).

Like if I had a massive project coming up that I worked hard for, I would not get up on that stage and wear my ex’s initials. No thanks. This is my moment. Or I also wouldn’t wear the initials of someone the public thinks I’m involved with but that I’ve denied several times. No thanks. This is my moment. To say my words. To show the world who I am and what I have to say.

I especially wouldn’t do that if I had a partner who I have been dating for the past 7-whatever years. Do you understand just HOW disrespectful that is to them? I’ve been with my partner for over 6 years, I’d be devastated if they did that. If my partner showed up wearing the initials of their ex during a big show like that I would be up the walls in hurt, disrespect, anger. Honestly. It would signal to me they don’t respect me or care about me or my feelings at all. PR baiting be damned. He would not do that, especially since he said that it’s allegedly "a bit disrespectful to me gf Eleanor”. Please.

No, never. For me these things never get into the bases of “who” I have pictured & built up he is. It triggers me on his (business) approaches, lets say on “how” he behaves or “what” choices he make. What are his limits? Does he have them?

It drives me crazy observing how this fandom loves him deeply, sometimes probably people are too involved, and instead of trying to switch the old trashy tools & narrative, maybe sacrificing a bit of success & popularity by going smoothly, nicely and kindly; how things go with H, leads you to believe he is a victim, not an industry victim but the slavery kind. Something that turns sometimes into “toxic”. I know this is not about us, fans, but the situation gets a bit ugly, in this particular case, when he has looked mad, sad and miserable by her and now you have to question if he was in such a bad shape as he pretended… because who would get a huge tattoo of a colleague at work that makes your life a literal pain, right? (Wont even go into de Larry hipes during that same period)

So it’s more this path that I am walking.

If Harry is gay and has ever liked a woman, or had some het experience or feel attraction for some… We won’t know and it doesn’t really matter

Thank you for answering @indiaalphawhiskey , precisely considering the supposedly relevance or power Olivia might have is what always breaks my schemes: I actually don’t think she has that much only what they gave her .

Why putting up with the possibility that the snake continues spitting venom if it could or had already jeopardize H’s reputation? In the end, no matter how much risk MP entailed, it is a controlled scenario and ambiguity is not new to Harry (didn’t seem his team’s #1 concern when those controversial statements about gay cinema where published) but exposing him to Olivia “free will” for longer…?

I am more inclined to believe that everything is on the table internally, scrutinized & planned; that doesn’t make it any easier or simpler. I think they had to wait for the agreed on by contract to happen, including the nanny chapter, certain show ups, paps, etc. that will feed the following after-split-tabloid-buzz. I can consider Olivia taking advantage of the contract loopholes at some stage, but I doubt she could have acted freely at any point.

I feel confident pointing at a sh*tty contract, a carefree layout and a crow’s interest based lead as the explanation of many of the situations we have witnessed, but sadly nothing but the viewers’ reaction was outside the signed boundaries.

I have read your "morality clause" post and it is quite understandable and coherent. However I would like to ask you about "when things went belly up with DWD" if its ok.

We all experienced the disaster of the campaign around DWD, from brewing during its filming period to intensify in the last month before launch. I am curious about when you say that things “went belly up”, what do you mean exactly ?: is it about how did Olivia and her team work unilaterally or rather how did they (HO) work on a common agreement but the acceptance was disastrous?

Olivia's speech contained miltiple red flags, but sadly it was the same one that she has always pushed; I am aware of how everything became even worst the moment the cast & crew joined in the stunt promo to finish off the situation, but what sparked the fire were those 2 or 3 interviews in which various statements from Holivia mixed gasoline and flames... (following a non-stop number of pap-walks that stopped from the sudden to gaslight everyone who have eyes and that lead to Venezia, etc.)

Bottom line: I can consider disagreements, new negotiations and adjustments (as you mentioned) bts because of an unexpected turn of acceptance & exhaustion from the GP/fans, but if "those clauses" had been key and could have brought this BUA timing & “friendly” exit wouldn’t have they immediately stopped any damaging line of speech before getting worst as the first step. Not only they didn’t stop any of the narratives but they continued to feed them. Don’t you think?

So, I think to understand what I mean when I say “when things went belly up”, you have to think of the weight of the ramifications in terms of the impact on Harry as a wider brand, as opposed to the impact of Harry within his own fandom.

You see, HSHQ expect a certain amount of backlash from within fandom, but, unfortunately, it’s often seen as negligible, because we’re already loyal and converted. If we don’t like Harry’s “girlfriend”, it really doesn’t matter, because we already love Harry and continue to support him.

Where the tides really turn is in the court of public opinion (the GP) and while you’re right in saying Olivia’s narrative never changed, public opinion did the moment Florence decided to speak out against her. That was the first time the GP really stopped and thought “Wait a minute, maybe this isn’t just about Harry’s fans not liking his girlfriend. Maybe there is validity to their dislike.”

That’s when fandom discussions began to gain traction outside of fandom, and then gain even more credibility with the physical evidence that was being attached to the drama (Shia, Shia, Shia; miss Flo; Florence and Chris refusing to do promo; no one taking the time to interact with Olivia at VFF) until it was undeniable that this was absolutely going to damage Harry’s wider reputation.

And, while it seems like a small thing, their “cool off” at Venice and her subsequent disappearance from his shows in September were a direct effect of that, and showed me that HSHQ were desperately trying to regroup and put out fires.

The thing is, the most Harry’s team can do to stop Olivia is threaten to end the stunt, but I believe at a certain point, that threat had no real teeth when she knew he would still need a beard for MP anyway. So, it’s likely the morality clause was breached and Harry got the most he could out of it, while still being able to somewhat “salvage” the two years he invested into the stunt by keeping her around for the shortest amount of time humanly possible.

TBH, it’s still not all clicking in my head, because the one part I can’t figure out is why Olivia had this much power and say that allowed her to push the envelope as far and as long as she did, but this is the most logical theory I can come up with at the moment.

I still would have ended the stunt immediately (and at least spared Harry Olivia’s desperate attempt to stay in the spotlight with the Nanny Diaries), but I guess HSHQ perceived My Policeman as a huge enough threat to insist Harry weather Cyclone Olivia for a little bit longer.

I will counter this point with we don't know he was miserable when he was with Olivia. I've seen larries pick and choose which pictures to zero in on to show how miserable he was. And maybe he was. But I think saying he was pretending is wrong. You're saying this because of the tattoo right? But if tomorrow he confirms the tattoo is for a city or a cat will you think again he wasn't pretending? This was such an easy phrase to pick on and bring it out of context, because if you read my post or took the time to understand where am I writing from it changes considerably.

Lets start by pointing out again that Holivia is fake, its not a real relationship, therefore I never related his tattoo to her. To understand my POV is basic to know that I am not even entering in the personal life of Harry, that none of us can know of and even less judge.

Having that in mind I am in shock with the plot. It doesn’t matter if you believed in that relationship, if he is dating Lou or if he has a very private family home full of kids that we can’t suspect about. The boundaries can be blurry & attractive, but we have no clue and it doesn’t really matter.

So independently to the numerous fabricated narratives available, this is an annoying move, dumb and risky. He can tattoo the name of his pet on his forehead if he wishes to but there is an intention in the moment this has gone public and its surely to provoke a reaction. As simple as that.

The interpretations behind it are many as there is enough open fires (caught by press) to confuse everyone. Without even depicting the possibilities I invite you to think who is enjoying the content these days.

So when I used the word “pretended” was with all meaning and intention but not from his personal human being feelings & perspective but because when nurturing your business in the fineline is that easy to let down a part of your fandom (or in his case multiple) at once and cover it - as you very conveniently pointed out- behind the wrong choice of his fans; and that’s the key of my mood.

I am a Larrie, no need to say I love them both but I am also a professional, particularly mkt & branding is my area, I have read & learned a LOT about the industry thanks to them, probably like most of us here have, I am also a grown-up, I know how many unexplainable things from the 1D days have been inherited into our days trying to make sense of current situations & because, particularly, H has been involved in so many complex situations I’ve tried to be objective about it, looking for a better understanding despite I don’t like some. It's fine because I am still here. On the other hand, this showed me the raw reality of what the industry demands to be “successful“ in it and how real issues like pressure, money, power & a large number of people relying on just one man, puts an inappropriate responsibility on him.

First, I’d like to say that there is the larries pov but there is also the “world” or the GP too, I can try to justify whatever by looking at it through the larrie glasses but the truth is he came there for the first time and he acted as he did. I love him and that’s why I don’t want others to point at this behavior as disrespectful or poor when he is having an opportunity (that many actors don’t, for instance) of a lifetime. So, it’s not a matter of what a larrie state of mind “should be” or that st*pid octopus’ morals are, it is a matter of caring about a guy whose reputation is already damaged and dragged by the choices he took, the media, his team, the industry, the stunt… far away from who I think he is.

At this time, we were at one of the worst peaks of the stunt he & his so-called “gf” had just put out there the most controversial articles, we had pap pics almost every day, wrong quotes, etc... They got there and H ignored her under a “professional veil” to quit that attitude once they got into the theatre, to go back to spread kisses once again in NY streets later…and the only chance he got to show a bit of who he really is, how despite everything he was going through he is who we know he is… he puts into display this (alow me to name it) game. Don’t forget Harry has been in the industry for more than 10 years, he knows it's folds perfectly. I am telling you, this wasn’t read into considering his stunting state at the moment or his feeling towards despicable OW, I am a Larrie & I was concerned.

When I mentioned controversies, I didn’t imply his level of freedom, but the obvious DWD promo: based on spreading garbage all over. So it would have been nice if, for once, his circle or his moves weren't related to this kind of approach seeking headlines. However, to the general question: is H capable of choosing? Yes (minding ofc the doubt before the extension and consequences of them). Does this imply easiness, comfort, being happy with what the industry demands of this man or not having to deal with complex contracts (including his & the boys 1D’s)??? No. Don’t take me wrong, I am not saying his position is any lighter than it is or it looks like, there is too much involved and is disgusting.

I get how some see this specific moment as a rebellion and give them comfort, I understand it because I was thought like that too & the loop to see through is a bit complex & doesn’t get any better, as you can tell. It helped me a lot to give it a business pov, separate it from my feelings for them or from who I think they truly are, to understand the extent of the circus they (& us consequently) deal with.

I am not looking for an answer breaking down every step under the stunt, because I know too, believe me; but take this ( if you wish) as a wider scope on how things are seen. There is a larger audience (and intention), I chose my side, but that doesn’t erase the others and I mind how he is perceived. Precisely, being a larrie let us see clearly the incoherencies of the artist out there and walking that line is risky for him first. I wish his lame team could make a better, creative and mature strategy to protect him & give us a much healthier experience.

Not everything is promo. Paps are actually a thing. He looks genuinely pissed off to have his picture taken outside a place that's supposed to be safe for celebrities. Just because she's looking for her 5 minutes of fame by opening up her ig, doesn't mean it's planned. Just because DM is looking for clicks on a harry article, doesn't mean it's planned. Just because he's wearing a pleasing bag, doesn't mean it's planned. He wears the same dirty vans for years and no one accuses him of anything. Not everything is promo to try and stay "relevant." He's gonna be at the grammys and brits all within a month. He doesn't need cheap tabloid rumors to get his name in the paper.

The good news is that this is not something negative or that leaves Harry in a bad place (I'm really sorry if you see it that way). Probably using these tactics he is protected and benefits him in various aspects, not only regarding business deals. I am not going to break down everything or refute each of the points you mentioned, it is OK & I respect if you prefer to have another perspective, but I will tell you that one indicator is precisely when this happens in a private or as you called it "artist-safe" place. I definitely wouldn’t have said that you were a loser or illogical for thinking differently from me, and I could have explained to you how that comment [the one dressed as Harry] was ironic, to sentence the pathetic attitude of a grown up man who agrees to focus his professional life on the echo of the rumor mill orchestrated by Harry's team and the press.

Honestly, if you want 🍞 go eat it, personally I am gluten free on this one.
