So, I've watched The Gaslight District, and HOLY SHIT it is absolutely amazing! It reminds me of TMNT: Mutant Mayhem but for adults. This is something we need to see more of in the animation industry. It's new, it's different, it's original, it's something like nothing I've seen before! Unless you compare it a little to 9 (2009) or as I mentioned above,TMNT.
Please watch The Gaslight District

Y'now, I have a theory. I don't have any evidence to support it but hear me out... spoilers below
I think BreadHead knows that Mel is human.
I noticed on my second watch that when he scoops up Ken and Mel to save them from that bird lady, he could have possibly seen her blood at that moment. Plus the bird lady referring to her as "the human child". I could be entirely wrong, but if I'm right I think he also doesn't have a problem with it and still cares for Mel regardless of the color of her blood.

Hey there, it's me, I just finish watching the new pilot show of Glitch The Gaslight District, i wanted to know what your opinion of it, it's really good and i really like the character design, I'm very suprise Cyn from Murder Drones voice actor played as Mel and Gianni, the voice actor of a character from Ultrakill as The Breadhead. So, what's your opinion of the pilot?
Hello there 👋🥺
I watched the pilot at least three times now, so I think it's safe to say that it's a blast!
The voice acting is on-point in both the english and german version, but in the german version the voices are much clearer.
I really liked the worldbuilding, although it took me more than one rewatch to fully understand what was going on. Which I didn't mind, I actually appreciate that, I just hope it doesn't get as complicated as Murder Drones.
I really enjoyed the dynamics between the characters, especially between Mel and Ken. Their father daughter relationship was one of the many highlights of the pilot to me.
The soundtrack was amazing too! It really helped emerge into the world of the gaslight district.
The overall setting of people basically being in hell kind of reminded me of H*lluva Boss, but obviously way better executed.
Mel being some flavour of queer made me very happy, continuing the legacy of main character in a Glitch production who is most likely bisexual. (Pomni and Uzi) She is also a very multifaceted character, at least in my opinion. Her being very outgoing and wanting her dad to be proud of her is way better executed than with Uzi. A little bit of Pomni's personality does also shine through Mel. However, I don't really consider her the main character of the gaslight district. Yes, she's basically the driving force for the entire plot and she makes things happen, but she felt more like just a part of the other three smiling dead than someone who stands out. Whether that was intentional or not is something I don't know.
Ken as a character is probably the most interesting to me, since we got a few glimpses at his backstory. Breadhead and Mud were cool too though :)
The only thing I'm worried about is that they don't know where to go with the plot moving forward, after that happened with Murder Drones. Murder Drones is still my favourite Glitch show though, so I don't think that matters much when it comes to enjoying a show.
Overall, I would give the pilot an 8/10 :D

New idea for my Crocfellas AU (aka my TLG mafia AU):
You know the “Cement” song from Gaslight District? That’s what Tamka, Nduli, and Neema sing every time Kiburi orders his boys to cement someone
One of them will give their victim one last light depending on who’s getting cemented before finishing the job. But they sing/hum that song every.single.time. It’s definitely one of their favorite parts about being in the family

My favorite emoji expression me and my friends came up with is "throwing rocks at it"
Basically if you ever see or hear something that displeases you, You go like this:
🫳🪨
🫳🪨🪨🪨🪨🪨🪨
☺️🫳🪨🪨🪨
So on and so forth. But also if something is beautiful or true you throw lotus.
🫳🪷🪷🪷

Hiiii I saw your review for The Gaslight District and am very psyched to hear more positive reception towards such an amazing pilot!
If I can ask, you brought up a lotta Murder Drones critique in your post, as a former MD fan before just not watching the finale, may I ask for your thoughts on that too? :)
Hellooooo! :D
Since The Gaslight District came out after Murder Drones was finished and both share a more darker tone, I couldn't help but compare them. Well, at least when it comes to the dark complex plot where you need to rewatch the episodes multiple times to truly understand what's going on.
I'm actually still a very big Murder Drones fan, although I do agree that the finale was rushed, which is very unfortunate. I still re-watched the finale a lot more compared to the other episodes, because Cyn is my favourite character and there she gets the most screen time.
The Gaslight District has a different person behind it than Murder Drones, and I'm sure Glitch learnt their lesson and doesn't rush the finale again. The plot could go in many directions, but we will most likely see the Virtues again and definitely find out more about the black hand cult! :3

I don't want to be that guy, but I immediately knew that Ragatha was going to be villainized by the fandom after I watched the newest The Amazing Digital Circus episode.
Sure, her "Not anymore." comment was uncalled for, but some of the people in this fandom are acting like she threatened to dunk Jax's head in boiling lava.
It's so odd how when a male character who is complex does something wrong, everyone woobifies him and believes he can do no wrong. But, when a female character who is complex does something wrong, we pull out pitchforks and torches and try to set her ablaze. It makes no sense to me.
