i'm working on something else for focalette/neuvifuri right now, but my hand is seriously dying from all the drawing lately....

i drew for so long last night that it started shaking so bad i couldn't draw and had to go to bed (￣꒳￣;)

(i have a chronic tremor that comes out when i work too long/get stressed)

anyway..... i listen to music while i'm drawing, and somehow my playlist (radio ?) on apple music started playing nothing but obscure japanese (chika ?) idol groups around the 4 hours in mark ;u;

(i usually listen to anime idols/girl bands, so it was a fun change)

i guess i'm just rambling now, haha. my hand is much calmer now, so i'm going to go finish the drawing. i sure have been making a lot of art lately, huh ? it's been nice c:

okay, so AURORA is great, one of my favourite artists actually. You might know some songs of hers already like Runaway, but I'd recommend Conqueror, Forgotten Love, Heathens, or very specifically this performance. Also, she has such an interesting and fun personality. So if youre ever having a bad day, just watch an interview of hers like this one and im sure it'll bring a smile to your face :)

There's this youtuber that i used to watch religiously when i was a bit younger, and she's also such a cool musician. Her name is Ally Hills and my favorites songs by her are Not Now, Wrong and Woah. She also a multi-instrumentalist which ?? is so dope ??

another hugely talented multi-instrumentalist is Tash Sultana!! you should reaaally watch their live performance of Jungle. It's a one take, with a loop pedal and just guitar and daaamn. I also recommend Notion and Cigarettes

if you are into R&B vibes CHIKA is a very good one. I love her music, cause her voice is so smooooth. I recommend FWB and Songs About You!

I don't know if its the vibe you're looking for but i loveeeee KAYTRANADA. He's a producer and makes hiphop/house like beats?? anyways, its so good. I especially like Together, All We Do, Glowed up (especially from 02:55, i've been obsessed with that part for 6 years), and You're The One which features Syd that is also a very talented queer artist (i reccomend Out Loud (feat. Kehlani, another queer artist)

Syd was also in the band The Internet that has some bangers like Girl, Missin' You and Special Affair. And Steve Lacy, yet another queer artist (we love to see it), also makes very good music like C U Girl.

This was based off a idea of some sort of LL AU where Kiyo is You’s cousin and is obsessed with Muse and Maki Nishikino after years after Muse disbanded I think,, I took that idea plus a fun idea Twi mentioned that involved most of Aqours and made this!! It’s in a different writing style cause I’m lazy but I hope u enjoy this silly fic!!

⚓️: “Yeah.. Uh, about that.. If they were to come to Uchiura, I think it’s best to keep them away from Dia-chan. They are both insanely passionate about Muse. Plus since the two of them passionately love Muse, they’d be an unstoppable force together..”

🌸: “Gulp.. I think I can see that happening already from all the stuff you’ve mentioned about them.. They might even do extremely well on Dia’s quiz..”

Street Dance of China Season 4, Episode 5

- I love practice montages! I was surprised that we got to see the process of each of the captains (of the competing teams) choosing dancers to their teams. Ibuki and Ma Xiaolong were speaking English to each other, and I don’t doubt that English was probably the main mode of communication across borders for these dancers.

- Okay Ibuki leading Huang Xiao by hand and then Huang Xiao cackling in glee and hugging Ma Xiaolong....very cute.

- So...is Huang Xiao baby?

- Huehuehue love Poppin’C’s laugh

- Ibuki said that Ma Xiaolong helped her a lot with recruitment. I think that’s for two reasons. One is that Ma Xiaolong (and Huang Xiao) are choreographers, so they have a better idea of what styles look together. The other is that Ma Xiaolong knows the Chinese dancers better than she would.

- Moony was saying how Ibuki is the captain but she is the youngest, and is definitely very cute haha.

- Yang Kai was very worried about dancing to a rap song so he recruited as many choreographers as he could. But the issue was that they all had different approaches to choreographing so they spent a lot of time discussing before choreographing and rehearsing.

- Yang Kai deadass brought his laptop to the hotpot restaurant because he was going to turn dinner into a lesson on Three Kingdoms for Boris and Kenken lol. The name of their song was Chitu, which is the horse of Lv Bu. Basically Chitu was just a great super capable horse and that’s why it was so famous lol. Yang Kai was trying to compare their battle to the Three Kingdoms lmao. Kenken was Zhuge Liang, Ibuki was Cao Cao (LMAO), and Chitu Ma was a Ferrari lol. Not gonna lie though, the stories in Three Kingdoms are pretty iconic lol.

- In terms of the performances, I liked them both! I think that Team Ibuki’s performance was very fun in the sense that it was like a story. I don’t think songs like that are popular dance songs, so I really liked seeing how they choreographed the dance and I felt that it was done in a very creative and fun way. I think where it may have fallen short was the cohesion. I like Poppin’C, but I wonder if it was difficult to fit him in because his skill set was so specific. As well, because all of the dancers were wearing different clothes, it was a bit difficult to see their synchronization during the group dance parts. For Team Yang Kai’s performance, it definitely was extremely hype. Whereas Team Ibuki wore different clothes, Team Yang Kai had a dress code so the cohesion was easy to see. But I feel like Team Yang Kai’s performance was being propped up by the fact that it had a very hype song, one that easy to dance to.

- Rochka continues to be the biggest fanboy of every single person on this show. I love him!!!

- Y’all have no idea how much I love hearing Boris speak Chinese. Yes, he has an accent, but he is also very easy to understand. You have no idea how difficult it is to find non-ethnic Chinese people who speak Chinese this fluently. Iunno, he just makes Mandarin seem so much more approachable. Boris said that he’d been in China for 7 years so it makes sense that he feels so confident speaking. A lot of people who are learning languages have to get over that hump where they stop feeling embarrassed about their accent because they have to go out and live their life and buy groceries and go to the doctor and stuff and it’s really interesting to hear Boris expressing himself.

- Henry feeling so pressured when he had to choose which team to pick lmao.

- Yixing went “We’re looking at you because you’re cute!” So bold, Yixing XD

- And Henry went “I feel pressured because you guys are handsome.” XD Two can play at that.

- Then Han Geng went “Henry’s Chinese is so good now!” XD My mom says that to me when I make a good joke in Chinese.

- Yixing has to talk behind his clipboard because he’s so nervous lmfao.

- So the rule is that one judge gets two votes for each matchup. In addition to that, that judge has to cut three members, two to enter a battle and one to be eliminated immediately, not including the captain.

- Ibuki was so upset when she returned to her seat :(

- Ye Yin had his team draw out their feelings as they listened to their assigned song. I thought it was a bit gimmicky, but this visual is cute.

- I thought Team Ye Yin’s performance was cool considering this was a song that would be difficult to choreograph for. I was surprised with how the incorporated breaking and locking elements, as there are breaking and locking experts on their team. But overall I thought the choreography was so nice. It told a story, and it suited the vibe of the song. Props to Bunta for the awesome choreography.

- Han Geng said that their performance reminded him of his youth, and then Henry said that he felt the same, that the performance reminded him of Geng-ge. He was like “ge, do you remember?“ and Geng-ge was like of course! Han Geng said he remembered their romantic days X’D So unnecessary. At one point the director was like did Han Geng and Henry used to have their arms around each other’s shoulders? And both of them were like uhh yeah all the time dude.

- George was asked about his rivalry with C-Lil because they keep getting stuck together lol. Apparently C-Lil became a tea enthusiast which was cute.

- Yuwan clapping his hands while his arms around C-Lil :3

- Team Liangliang’s performance was cut because apparently it was not very good, and the editors cut it out to prevent them from getting haters. I think Liangliang’s Sun Wukong headgear had obstructed his vision, and Yixing said that the performance wasn’t very in sync. A pity :(

- Gogo Brothers’ team is stack af.

- Gogo Brothers + Hilty & Bosch hotel room conference lol.

- AC went for a waacking + krump combo which is cool! Their performance was extremely aesthetically pleasing. Even though the fire power is perhaps less explosive, they worked together as a team very well. I definitely thought the waacking and the krump complemented each other very well.

- AC bought snail noodles for his team members, and apparently it’s one of those very polarizing foods, but Chika really liked it haha.

- Ohh, you know this is gonna be good.

- Team Gogo Brothers’ performance was good, but at the same time...there wasn’t anything new about it? Since there were five lockers on the, most of the performance was going to be high quality locking, but at the same time, the locking kind of overshadowed any attempt to try anything new. It was still good though, I just felt that it had limitations compared to AC’s performance that did something new with combining styles, both in terms of dance and aesthetics (costumes).

- Lmao Xiao Jie said that Xiaohai was the good luck charm of their team XD His good luck charm name is Jr. Baby, aka Haibaobao lol

- Yibo and Yixing voted for Gogo Brothers, and Han Geng voted for AC, so Henry, who had two votes, had the final say in who would win this battle. Then we got the theatrics where Han Geng, Yibo, and Yixing went into the audience because their job was done lol.

- Then Henry was like “ge~~~~ didn’t you say you would take care of me?” And Han Geng’s like, I’m letting you have the SDOC experience bro.

- Even though we all know it’s a joke, Han Geng is still so caring and affectionate lol.

- Anyway, after all that shenaniganery, what Henry said was right. It feels so tough eliminating any single member of the team, because it was all of them who helped deliver such a beautiful performance. I know AC had a tough time going up against Gogo brothers but dammit I actually super loved their performance. So cruel!!!!!

- Han Geng felt bad because Auju had said he wanted to be in a solo battle in the 3 vs 3 challenge, but he was put in the 5 vs. 5 battle and then this group performance, so Han Geng wanted to let him have the stage to perform his best. I thought it was a nice gesture, to let him have the stage to show off in the way he was most confident with, to let himself show himself at his best.

- Then Henry was like “what if we had Auju AND Yixing????”

- And then Boi Marble joined!!! Krumptastic

- Yixing said that even though krumpers look really fierce, that aside from the krump, all of them are lil cuties uwu.

- Team Nelson having fun with Hanfu was so cute! :D Sometimes with the non-Chinese contestants, I worry that they find the Chinese culture stuff tedious, because SDOC does try to fit as much culture in. So I’m glad to see that they’re at least finding a way to have fun. I wish I had such pretty hanfu to dress up in v.v

- I’ll be honest though, I don’t think Nelson’s team was very synchronized. He had a lot of very good individual dancers (Bouboo, Zyko, Lil Kev, that firepower is undeniable), but there were parts when I felt like all of the dancers were doing their own thing. Maybe the choreography was too subtle, or maybe the dancers themselves had slightly different rhythms.

- Acky-san giving red pockets to his team, but instead of money, he wrote them letters in different languages T_T

- A full popping team is risky move, but it paid off. Everybody was popping so everybody was dancing to their strength. Compare that to some of the other teams, where there were some dancers who clearly were lagging because they were dancing to a style they were very comfortable with. In addition, the visual style of the performance was fresh and fun. Their costumes were very wacky and fun to look at, and their performance exuded the kind of fun vibes where you felt like you wanted to join them.

- Out of the captains who’d lost their challenges, they would have to battle each other in a round robin style tournament. First place would get to keep two of their "pending” members, and second place would get to keep one.

- Yixing got up SO FAST when Tell Me started playing. I didn’t know this song before so I looked it up and it is a bop haha.

- Yixing dancing along uwu I don’t know the name of this song but it was the second song in the Ibuki vs. Liangliang battle.

- AC vs. Ibuki dancing to It’s Raining Men was A LOT of fun, particularly because everybody including the spectators knew the song haha.

- The first place winner was Nelson who was able to save Tengzai and Lil Kev and the second place winner was AC who could only choose one person to save, and AC chose Fanfan.

- Ma Xiaolong and Huang Xiao comforting Ibuki because she couldn’t save her team members :(

- Ahh I’m going to miss Yuri because she was so cute and fun. AC apologized for not being able to save her :( Gonna miss u bb ;(

- I liked Latrice too T_T Hated to see her go :(

- Brats playing with the microphones. They basically disassembled their standing microphones and waved the part around even after Han Geng already told Yibo not to lmao.

- So this section was supposed to be the captains’ opportunity to tell the dancers what kind of team they were looking to put together. Yixing was so surprised because Han Geng and Yibo had very simple and short statements (though it took a while for Han Geng to get to his point), because the boy deadass prepared a speech. Of course he did.

- Yang Kai said that his speech sounded like a motivational speech from a boss at work. That’s exactly what it is.

- Apparently Henry also prepared a speech XD

- So from what I understand, the captains will recruit a team that they think represents their style. Afterwards, the dancers who have not been chosen will get to choose their team based on which captain’s style they like. I think that’s how it works, we’ll see if I’m right lol.

- Henry trying to gleam information X3 Yibo just deals with the pressure by smiling and shaking his head. Dare I say this is the first time I’ve seen Yibo look shy??????? It’s cuuuute.

- Since the cubicles don’t have ceilings, Henry was like someone could be watching me!

- Yibo and Henry and Han Geng were playing mind games being like “oh, you picked Poppin’C? And Yixing fell for the trick ^^;; Luckily he was not allowed to change his answer so at least he’s not going to make a change he regrets lol.

- All of the dancers Yixing picked were not picked by anyone else so he was quite lucky.

- Han Geng had three of his choices matching with Henry or Yibo.

- Henry has no idea how to recruit dancers so he just ends up singing love songs. Of course.

- Zyko’s loyal dude XD I can see why Han Geng is a safe choice though. Han Geng is low on the theatrics, so if I was a low key guy like Zyko, I’d probably feel less pressure being on his team. I could just focus on dance and not on entertaining the cameras.

- I can see why Nelson would go with Yibo. Yibo is quiet but he’s serious and focused and more importantly they both confirmed that they are competitors.

- Henry and Han Geng both chose Ibuki. Here Han Geng is patiently waiting/spying while Ibuki and Henry have their interview.

- Then he was offered a ladder and Geng-ge became the biggest gremlin lmao.

- Yixing the good little helper.

- C U T I E

- When Han Geng was having his interview with Ibuki, he locked the ladder in his own room and kept the key. Then he stole the keys from all the other rooms and gave them to Henry XD Actual troll-ge.

- Ibuki chose Han Geng in the end.

- So all of the people Henry chose picked other captains. This frame lmfao.

- I think last season Yixing had tons of trouble recruiting dancers to his team. In the hotpot preview he said he was super lax about this year and it worked in his favour.

Kaboom. Psshhhhhhh…

Thunder rumbles on after a loud cackle of the lightning ripped through the dark clouds for a second and rain began to pour down.

Uwa..!! Not good, not good, not good!

You was not given much time to think as big fat raindrops were quick to become a sheet of white rain and You was drenched within a minute of running for shelter.

You-chan forecast or the weather news did not mention sudden thunderstorms at all this morning!

The swimmer had good legs and running stamina but the bus stop was still quite the distance from the snack store You was stopping by to grab something before visiting Chika for some assistance in lyric writing after her swim practice.

You lets out a breath as she wiped rainwater off her arms futilely.

“All wet… At least the snacks are safe in their packaging.” You lifts the dripping wet plastic bag full of sweets and snacks with a wry smile, and then another sadder smile at her school bag.

I wonder what time the bus will arrive…

You was planning to stroll back if she was done shopping early in the first place, but now that it started storming out of the blue, she decides to check the bus timing.

And as expected, the estimated time for the next bus was one and a half-hour away.

We’re in the countryside after all, huh!

You laughed to herself and looked back outside the small shelter of the bus shelter – a beautiful white sheet of rain falling from thick dark clouds that have fully blown in, the trees rustling strongly. That’s when You felt the wind too, blowing against her soaking wet uniform and damp arms made the ash-brunette shiver and hug herself.

“It’s cold! Ah…” You looks left and right slowly, a small hope to see someone around but alas, none.

I might freeze out here. Guess there’s only one course of action…

You tightens her school blazer she wrapped around her waist, adjusted her schoolbag on her shoulder, and gripped the plastic bag of yummies before nodding to herself. “Time to run!!!!!”

You dashed out into the rain to get to Chika’s place as fast as her legs could bring her when fighting against the torrential rain. Halfway through though, You could not help but chuckle. Running through the rain is refreshing.

If I didn’t have to worry about the others catching a cold, I’d definitely ask the rest of Aqours to play in the rain with me~

[Chika POV]

“Ahhhh, why isn’t You-chan picking up my calls or answering my texts??” Chika complained aloud, her face was a picture of worry as she looked out her window, seeing and hearing the thunderstorm rage on outside.

“What do I do..?” Chika mumbles as she gripped her phone tighter and she sat tensely on her bed.

You-chan said she will come over today but… It’s raining so heavily right now…

Chika stood up and start pacing the floor, stopping by her balcony to gaze worriedly into the white sheet of rain.

Club practice is definitely over for You-chan… I’m sure she does not have an umbrella too since the weather report said sunny this morning… Ah… What can I do??

Chika paced her room again, staring at her phone for hopefully some replies but there was none. The orangehead threw her arms in the air with a loud helpless cry.

I’m gonna wait at the entrance!!

It did not matter how long Chika had to stand by the inn’s entrance as long as it means one second sooner to make sure her girlfriend made it safely to her side.

It was an additional fifteen minutes of waiting before Chika finally caught sight of You running through the rain towards her.

You-chan!! Ahh she’s okay but--

“YOU-CHAN! MOU! Why didn’t you call me? Why are you running in the rain? You’re all wet. What if you caught a cold? I was worried sick! I kept calling when I noticed the rain but you never picked up. I- I thought… What if…what if something happened… You-chan! H-Hurry inside already. Mou!!”

“Ahh… Chika-chan… I’m sorry, I didn’t want to keep you waiting and I was already wet? So… I’m sorry.” You lowered her head in apology, holding her arm awkwardly and for some warmth at the same time.

Chika’s concern for You was still at the maximum meter but she also realized she raised her voice and made You feel bad so she quickly shook her head and took a quick breath.

Aaahhh, I didn’t mean to make You-chan sad. But… But I was worried.

“You-chan…” Chika murmurs.

You raises her head a little and looked up at Chika with upturned eyes.

Ah… You-chan is kind of pouting too, that’s cute—mm?!

Chika’s breathing hitched when her eyes lowered from You’s sad ocean blue eyes, pouty lips and down to You’s chest which Chika finally realizes again how wet You is and that the rain has caused You’s white uniform to be sticking to her body and…and…!!

Gwaaahhh baby blue- bra- You-chan!!! What are you showing me?? No, no, what are you wearing??? It- It’s a cute one… Gyaaah! No, wait! What am I doing staring at You-chan’s b-b-bra and thinking about wanting to…touch…!!

Chika shakes her head and subconsciously raises her hand to touch You’s arm, sliding it down those cold, wet and toned arms down to You’s hands, intertwining their fingers.

You-chan…I, I want to make sure she’s warm and safe and definitely not let anyone see her like this!

“You-chan!” Chika shouts which shocks the ash-brunette again but before You could say anything, Chika grips her hand tight and pulls You inside. “F-Faster!”

“Ahh, mm. Hold on Chika-chan!” You had to run a little after shrugging off her wet shoes at the entrance.

Now in Chika’s room, the orangehead wastes no time in saying the important things. “Strip.”

“Eh?”

“Not ‘eh’, You-chan. Strip! Before you catch a cold. C’mon, I’ll help you.” Chika takes a step closer and had her hands on You’s front, getting to the buttons.

“W-Wait, Chika-chan!”

“I’m not waiting.” Chika had a determined expression as she unbuttoned You’s drenched shirt.

I’ve already waited enough!

“Aahh, Chika-chan!” You whines as she quickly drops her bag and snacks to the floor and tried to hold onto her girlfriend’s hands to stop her. “Wait, wait, wait. You…left the windows open!”

“Win…dows?” Chika looks to the side, seeing the rain pour and the light of Riko’s room behind the curtains. “Oh.”

Chika looks down to see she had two buttons undone from You and she could see the swimmer’s chest raise up and down with each breath, that baby blue bra which looks soft to the touch like what it is holding stares back at Chika. Looking at You’s cute troubled face, Chika swallows. “Oh.”

W-Wouldn’t want Riko-chan seeing this.

The leader of Aqours releases her hold on You’s third button she was about to undo and pitter-pattered over to the window to shut it, pulling her curtains over while she was at it.

“Is this okay?” Chika asks softly as she places her hand back on You’s chest.

Windows closed. You-chan mine.

After five breaths (Chika counted the rise and fall of You’s chest), the mikan-lover whispers, “May I..?”

I want to see more…

You nods small, timid blue hues staring into passionate crimson eyes.

And with the swimmer’s permission, Chika’s hand slowly moves downwards, her fingers brushing past You’s chest and back to the third button… Unbuttoning it and so forth.

You’s cheeks were rosy red by the time Chika was done with all the buttons and Chika helped shrug it off You’s shoulder and arms – successfully stripping You’s top off.

Chika takes a slow and long breath through her nose. Crimson eyes hyper-focused on You’s breasts to the valley which a stray raindrop from the ash-brunette’s hair dripped in between.

Chika stares till You clears her throat. “C-Chika-chan, I thought this is so I won’t catch a cold?”

It was! Is! Aahhh..!

Chika was turning scarlet red like her eyes as her eyes flitted about the room, finding it hard to look her girlfriend in the eye. “I-It is… I just, um, realize that it’ll be better if you took a bath right away…”

I wanted to help you get warm but your bra and breasts distracted me!

You chuckles softly; the movement once again had Chika distracted by You’s ample bosom, leading to Chika’s heart thumping louder in her ears and her cheeks mimicking You’s redness.

“W-What?”

“Mm…” You hums thoughtfully, wearing a silly, shy smile. “That’s what I thought too when deciding to run through the rain.”

Chika puffs her cheeks out at You before averting her gaze again. “You should have said so earlier.”

“I tried to but Chika-chan wouldn’t wait…” You looked at Chika with large, watery ocean blues – cute.

What is this. Why is You-chan so cute. Mou!

“Ahhh! Then! C’mon!”

“Whaa- Chika-chan??”

Chika tugs You over to her wardrobe and picks a t-shirt. “Put this on.”

Not gonna let anyone but me see you half-naked!

“O-Oh…” You takes the shirt but does not wear it.

“You-chan?” Chika tilts her head to the side questioningly.

You looks down. “Um…I’ll need that hand.”

Hand..?

Chika looks to their intertwined hands from when Chika pulled You along with her.

Uu… It can’t be helped that I love holding your hand, You-chan!

Chika reluctantly let’s go so the still-wet ash-brunette could put on the nice and dry shirt.

“Here I go.” You verbalizes the action of getting dressed and lifts Chika’s hand after.

You-chan..?

You brought Chika’s hand into hers and grins blushingly at her.

Gaaah! You-chan is being romantic cute again!!

Chika puffs her cheeks out once again but holds You’s hand tight, loving the warmth she could share with her dorky girlfriend who would run through the rain to be with her.

“Chika-chan, take me to your bathroom~” You flashes a big smile at Chika who squeezes You’s hand tightly.

Baka You-chan.

Very tightly.

“Ah, um, ahh, Chika-chan? My hand… can’t breathe..??” You gave Chika a troubled look as her fingers turn red and redder.

Why are you so charming AND cute??? Mou!! You’re making it hard for me to not just hug and kiss you nonstop!!!

Chika pouted hard at You who did not understand why Chika was gripping her hands so tightly.

Thankfully, when You sneezed, Chika remembers to put her desire to jump her girlfriend to the side first as she prioritized getting her adorable girlfriend fresh and warm again (maybe with a side of cuddling in bed after the bath).

This is the result of my in depth study of the language known as Tantalog through our good friend Stitch.  Culminated over several years by obsession alone this has been gathered with hundreds of words and translated to best the best of my ability for you all now.  Some words are repeated with multiple spellings where appropriate, and some phrases are divided up for ease.  This is the key for this so that you better understand:

thoughts on 2.43 ep 3 (2/?): “KUROBA YUUJI”

first off i actually liked ep 3 A Lot (we get to the meat of the story! it’s an ep where my fave guy Oda takes center stage!), but i’m kinda sad that the “Kuroba Yuuji” scene in the book was cut, because: 

it's hilarious, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY

it showcases one of Yuni’s biggest weakness imo, and is arguably why he crumbles under pressure—the boy is CONFLICT AVOIDANT af and a HUGE people pleaser

the “Kuroba Yuuji” scene happens when Yuni and Nagano first joins the club (before Oda and Aoki tries persuading Chika to join the first time and ended with Aoki kicking Chika), and it showcases how Yuni would rather let a mistake go on than stand up for himself and perhaps cares a little too much about other people:

“All right, next. Kuroba Yuuji.”

This time, there was no one who answered immediately.

“Hmm?”

He looked up from the sheet of paper. The one who had introduced himself as Nagato earlier poked the person to the right of him with his elbow. It was the first year who had swung and missed earlier who answered “Here” while looking down with Nagato’s elbow in his side.

“Kuroba Yuuji from 1-C, I’m from Monshiro Middle, now I’m probably one-eighty-three or four or something like that. I played left-side and right-side…”

While talking, that Kuroba was glowering at Nagato next to him. When he looked, he saw that Nagato had his hand to his mouth with his shoulders shaking.

“What’s going on here?”

The two’s faces stiffened when Oda’s tone turned sharp, but…

“It’s nothing. I’m Kuroba Yuuji.”

Kuroba named himself again while seemingly reluctantly giving Nagato the side-eye, a “pff” sound burst out from Nagato’s mouth.

“…Senpai. It’s Yuni. The reading.” Kanno interjected from among the second-year right side players. [...]

“Well, if that’s true then say it earlier. Why didn’t you correct me?”

“It’s fine. I will change my name starting today.”

Kuroba said with a solemn face while the tips of his ears were bright red. [...]

“Senpai, apparently his name got laughed at a lot in his new class today. When he was asked the reason for it, he said it was Yuni from ‘universe’, and everyone said it was a super over-the-top name. That’s why you’re sulking, right, Yuni?”

[...] The other first years other than Nagato seemed to have come out of their shells with this episode. They were already familiarly whispering and poking each other. He made the people around him like him, perhaps because he had a strange, hopelessly unguarded character to him. There was a big difference between having a moodmaker like that on the team and not having one. (2.43 S1 Chapter 3.1 - Freshers)

i’ve bolded the parts that hints at Yuni’s main issue of going with the flow instead of speaking up. him being a people pleaser is tied up with his status as the “landowner’s kid (rich kid)” back home, and he lets his cousin Yori and Yori’s shitty friends bully him because it’s easier to go with the flow. he’d rather say he’ll “get bored with volleyball in no time” to placate his cousin, rather than defend his choices and his friend Chika, because it’s the easier option.

this easy ‘go with the flow’ attitude impacts his performance in serious matches too; sure, he did well in the 1st match during middle school, but as soon as things stop being easy in the second match he shatters under pressure. hell, even in the scene where he and Nagano bump into Oda trying to recruit Chika, it’s said that even though Yuni protested when Nagano blamed Chika for Yuni’s stage fright problem, the narration states that “his voice was weak and it didn’t sound like he was seriously denying it.” (2.43 Chapter 3.4 - Child of Volleyball) I’d argue that Yuni’s first step towards making things right with Chika began with his decision to throw the match (in the books Aoki didn’t tell them to lose the match)

also! Nagano is a minor character, but without this scene i can see anime-only audiences thinking he’s a ‘bad guy’ as someone who hates on Chika rather than, y’know, a kid who was upset when Chika stopped coming after they lost in the tournament, essentially saying that only Yuni is worth anything. he also knew Yuni longer, and with Yuni being easy to get along with (compared to Chika’s cold prickliness), he’d obviously take the side of Yuni over Chika when he thinks there’s conflict between them. one thing i really love about the book(s) is that everyone is nuanced; there’s no one who’s purely bad or purely good, even the minor characters.

another purpose of the scene is to show another facet of Oda’s insecurities about his place in competitive volleyball, but since they got other scenes touching on that, it doesn’t really affect viewers’ understanding of Oda’s character that they didn’t show it. 

(I will say that Oda has lower self-esteem and is more self-deprecating in the book, including calling himself selfish multiple times for wanting to be a wing spiker/wanting to play competitive volleyball. but it’s hard to portray nuanced internal character drama in anime without straight-up having characters monologue in their head, which is just boring to watch imo, so trimming some of that makes sense for an adaptation)

'How could you...How could you leave me like this? You promised...' A familiar voice echoed in your brain as your phone rang.

While it was fairly warm, you felt as though you were splashed with cold water. Shaking it off as a dream, you rolled over to find your phone, only to meet the floor in an unwilling kiss. 

"Ow..." You mumbled as you heard your phone ring. It had been three days since your arrival to the new universe. In those days, you managed to snag a part-time job at the convenience store nearby. 

"Hey hey hey! Rise and shine, there's a Witch nearby!" Ae-Ri's voice was too chirpy for you to handle. 

A gurgle escaped you as you sat up, rubbing your eyes. 

"It's 4 am...Gimme a break..." You whined. 

"Justice waits for no one!" She screeched. You held your phone away from your ear. 

Muttering curses under your breath, you managed to mumble out that you would be over soon before hanging up. 

You slid into a comfy pullover and skirt, struggling into a pair of tights as you looked out into the darkness. Grabbing your bag, you headed out.

"Hey, be more considerate of your seniors, I have a day job to attend to, you know!" You said as you finally caught up to them. The two friends were waiting outside what looked like a factory. 

"So are you trying to say that you're old, (F/N)?" Soo-jin snickered. 

"I'm just saying you know...And for your information, I'm 19. I'm plenty young." You groaned as you stretched. 

"And we have school at 8 am and our school day ends at 6 pm. If anything, that job of yours is easier than our school," Ae-Ri snapped back. 

You rolled your eyes as Soo-Jin giggled. 

"Anyways, are we even allowed in? This is some kind of weird detergent factory." You looked at the sign carefully. 

"It's abandoned for the most part. The security here is lax, so people can sneak in broad daylight." Ae-Ri was already scaling the fence surrounding the concrete building. 

"And of course, she's climbing already." Soo-Jin huffed as you two followed suit. 

Soo-Jin whipped out her Soul Gem, walking about the compound. 

"Over here, the loading bay!" You rushed over to the direction of Ae-Ri's voice. Sure enough, a glowing portal swirled with the colors of the rainbow. 

"Nicely done, Ae-Ri." The young girl puffed her chest out in pride. 

Soo-Jin had caught up after sneaking around the empty compound. 

"You really need to be careful, Ae-Ri. We can't keep getting in trouble with the police for trespassing again." Soo-Jin complained as Ae-Ri sheepishly laughed it off. 

Fishing out your Soul Gem, you transformed together with the girls with a flash of magic. 

"Let me know if you guys need to go. I can whip up a portal out if you kids need to get to school." You held your weapon ready as you walked through the portal. 

"Pshhh, this will be easy. Nowadays, we usually defeat these things under an hour." Soo-Jin raised an eyebrow as she dispatched a minion from pouncing on Ae-Ri. 

"Hey, these things can actually kill you. Did sleep deprivation finally get to you too?" You asked as you swung your frisbee forward, knocking back the charging minion. 

"I'm not that weak, Grandma. Just watch me make this sick shot!" Ae-Ri drew her bow, her magic arrow glowing in the dim corridor. In the light that the arrow provided, you noticed a silhouette of a girl walking forward. 

"Ae-Ri, stop!" 

You felt your legs move, lunging to push the girl away as the arrow flew forward. You couldn't see much in the darkness as your hands made contact with cotton. A horrified gasp from Ae-Ri. And then the burning, agonizing pain on your shoulder. 

You heard screaming. You weren't sure if it was your voice but you could feel the strain on your throat. Crimson blood poured from the wound as you fell to your knees. 

"(F/N)!" Soo-Jin ran forward as Ae-Ri stood frozen in shock. 

Soo-Jin gingerly held your arm as she concentrated on closing up the gaping hole on your shoulder with magic. The girl turned around in a daze as if snapping out of a trance. 

"W-where am I?" She took in her surroundings. Fear glinted in her eyes. 

"You're safe with us. What's your name?" Soo-Jin moved to hide the closing hole. 

"C-Chika..." The black-haired girl managed to stammer out. 

"I'm sorry...I'm so sorry..." Regret filled Ae-Ri's eyes. 

"It's fine. I'll be okay. Just be glad that it did not hit her." You gently stretched your arm, making sure that you could move it.  

You got off the floor, patting Ae-Ri's head. 

"C'mon, you're safer with us." Soo-Jin took Chika's hand and pushed the door open, revealing the doors ahead. 

A large, wriggling mass lifted itself off the floor, sensing visitors in its room. Chika gave a sound of fear, hiding behind Soo-Jin. 

"What's that?" Chika blinked in surprise as Kyubey suddenly jumped out and onto her shoulder. 

'That's a Witch.' Kyubey answered for all of you. 

"Can I leave Chika to you, Ae-Ri? Soo-Jin and I can attack it from the front and you cover us from behind." You scanned the room. Familiars began to crawl out of the walls. 

Soo-Jin made a circular motion with her arm. With a glimmer of light, a circle of magic appeared around Chika's feet. 

"I can't risk you getting hurt, so stay in there no matter what happens," Soo-Jin explained before jumping into battle. The young girl watched in awe as the three of you went to work. 

"(Y/N)! Cover me!" Soo-Jin yelled as she kept firing her crossbow at it. As she did so, dark tentacles plunged towards her. You flung your frisbee, cleanly slicing through the dark matter as she rolled away from the falling debris. 

"Aim for its necklace!" Ae-Ri yelled as she fired a shot at the gem in the Witch's center. A strangled cry of pain escaped the Witch as it landed. 

"Got it, (Y/N)! Give me a boost!" Soo-Jin yelled. 

You obeyed as you fling your disc upward towards her. With a graceful leap, Soo-Jin jumped atop your disc. Her eyebrows furrowed as she fired several magical bolts in succession. 

"They...Are amazing..." Chika gaped. 

'They are Magical Girls. They fight creatures like Witches in exchange for a contract with me.' Kyubey stated as it licked its paws. 

"A contract?" Chika looked into Kyubey's soft and fluffy form. 

'Indeed. You can wish for anything you want in the world. In return, you must fight Witches.' Kyubey answered, its tail waving in anticipation. 

"Hey, can we leave the wish-making business for later? We're in the middle of a battle here," Ae-Ri loosed another volley of arrows towards the gem but the tentacles simply swatted them away. 

"And kiddo, trust me. You might want to think it through before you make an impulsive wish." Ae-Ri gave Chika a look before returning to defending the area around her. 

"Switch!" You yelled as Soo-Jin fell back from the regrown tentacles. 

You summoned a swarm of your frisbees and with a war-cry, you ran forward, propelling them forward with your magic. Swinging your arms forward, your discs plunged upward, slicing through the cracked gem. 

With a final death-cry, the dark mass fell to the ground as the gem shattered and the surreal landscape of the labyrinth dissipated. 

Undoing the magic circle, the girls returned to their uniforms while you returned into your civil wear. 

"Hmm? You guys...You attend the same school as me?" The girl gaped as she recognized the school uniforms. 

"Yup. You must be the famous Japanese transfer student everyone's been  buzzing about." Soo-Jin winked. You scooped up the grief seed, silently passing it to Soo-Jin. 

"Thanks for helping me...I'm sorry I had to use up your magic like that." You felt bad as you saw how murky her gem looked. 

"Ah, thanks. It's no biggie. We also have a stockpile going for us too and in case of anything, we can just visit a friend of mine for help." Soo-Jin said nonchalantly as she took the seed and held it against her Gem. Within seconds, it shone clearly through the darkness of the loading bay. 

"Woah...You guys are amazing. You guys get a wish and magic powers! That's super cool!" Chika's eyes shone in excitement. You immediately sensed a disturbance among the girls as they shook their heads. 

"You have to spend the rest of your life fighting these Witches. What's more, these things can actually kill you. There's no redo or extra lives or whatever. Once you're dead, you're dead!" Ae-Ri burst out. Her eyes seemed to well up in tears. She seemed oddly put off by Chika's statement. 

You gently patted her shoulder, shocked at her outburst before turning to the now-scared Chika. 

"I'm sorry to scare you like that, but she is right. You should consider it with more thought." You said. You didn't want to wish this fate to a girl that was so young and had so much to live for.

Soo-Jin hummed in thought, seizing up the situation. If things went well, they could have another valuable ally on their side. If not... 

"How about this? You can tag along with us for our hunts and if you have made your mind up about the whole contract thing, well...You could join us!" Soo-Jin suggested before shrinking back as Ae-Ri gave her a dirty look. 

"Look, we can't stop her if she decides to make that decision on her own. But...We can be good seniors and guide her the best we can." Soo-Jin chided as Ae-Ri opened her mouth. 

"Hello?" The sound of a man echoed as a flashlight swung by the shadows. 

"Hurry!" You whipped out your Soul Gem, creating a portal to the school and pulling the girls in with you. The portal shut behind after Chika fell through, falling onto the concrete pavement.

"Ow..."

"Couldn't you have done it more gently?" 

Complaints arose from the young children as you huffed in mock indignation. 

"Ya, have some respect for your elders! Thanks to me, you didn't get in trouble with the police again. And what's more, you guys are finally on time for once!" You ruffled Ae-Ri's and Soo-Jin's hair. Chika giggled as Ae-Ri and Soo-Jin mumbled an apology. 

"Go enjoy your youth while you can. Your big sis needs to earn that cash to live." You winked as they picked themselves up. 

"See ya, (Y/N)!" The girls seemed to perk right back up as they waved goodbye, disappearing into the bright-colored school gates. 

Sighing to yourself as you sub-consciously rubbed your shoulder, you felt your phone vibrate. Seeing the caller ID, your heart jumped when you saw Zen's name. 

"Hey, Zenny!" You couldn't hold back your smile as you began walking to work. 

"Ah! Ah! I just felt my heart jump when you say that! You can't just attack me like that, (Y/N)..." Zen whined on the other end. 

"Hehe~ Sorry Zenny~ Is someone getting flustered?~" You couldn't help but poke fun at his flustered state. 

"Why you gotta be this cute? You're gonna be the death of me..." Zen began laughing at the exchange. 

"I'm glad you seem a lot more energetic after last night. How's your morning so far? Have you eaten?" Zen asked as your stomach rumbled. You froze for a moment. 

"Uh...Uhm...Not yet. I kind of just finished an extreme workout." You idly kick at the pavement as you found a bench nearby. Settling on the cool surface, you watched as the sun began to rise. 

"Oh! You work out as well! Hmm...But you should eat soon. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!" Zen said as you tried to contain your smile. Your heart pounded in excitement as your face flushed. 

"Yes Sir! I'll eat soon, Sir!" You saluted as you giggled. 

"Hahahaha...You're so cute...I'm just on my way to work and...I can't stop thinking about you. It's been so long since we had a party and activity in the messenger and I just feel so excited." Zen confessed. 

"How long has it been since the last party?" You tilted your head to the side in question. You watched as a cloud floated by in the sky. 

"Hmm...About 1-2 years. Yet, it feels like forever since then. Ah, I just reached my workplace. I'll talk to you later okay? I hope to hear more from you, (Y/N)." Zen put down the phone. While he was just a few steps away from the door of his workplace, he couldn't help the pounding heartbeat in his chest and the flush in his face. 

You were so adorable on the phone. It felt amazing to start his day like this. Patting his overheated cheeks, Zen tried to shake off the smile creeping onto his face. 

'Today is going to be a good day.' He thought as he walked through those doors. He felt on top of the world. At that point, he knew that he was falling in love with you.

Black Trigger Break, Ch 4

3 weeks later  

“Aw, Yuuma-senpai, one more ten-round!”

Yuuma danced back nimbly, skipping out of Midorikawa’s reach as the other teenager lunged haphazardly at him, grinning widely. They’d been goofing off playing with the Solo Rank Wars, killing time while Osamu was off discussing strategy and scheduling off-world rotations for Tamakoma Branch, but fairly soon they were both due in to watch the C-rank attackers practice. Chika was already off on the firing range, coaching new snipers carefully through their weapon choices and explaining the basics of long-distance shooting.

“Hm, but we’ve already had thirty matches, and it’s nineteen to eleven, fair and square,” he hummed. “I think this means you’re the one who has to do the talking this time, Midorikawa.”

The seventeen-year-old pouted at him irritably, puffing his cheeks out, and swiped for Yuuma’s arm again. He missed, crashed into the railing overlooking the common area below and then sank dramatically to the ground, giving up.

“But Chibi-senpai, I don’t wanna,” he whined. Yuuma puffed his cheeks out to match, feigning nonchalance.

“Oh, well that’s too bad,” he chirped, tucking his hands behind his head, gloves brushing against his white hair. “You still lost.”

World Trigger Ch178 ‘Ninomiya Squad’ Translation

First things first, there’s only one chapter this week because it’s the last chapter of volume 20. Next month there will be only one chapter again because Ashihara is having surgery to take out his gallbladder (there is nothing wrong with it at the moment, but apparently he gets gallstones really easily so it’s a preventative measure). On the other hand, because of a public holiday next month’s issue comes out on 2nd May.

1. Now another anime canon has become manga canon (since we got the New 3 Idiots names): Azuma's favourite meat for BBQ.

2. And while we're on the subject of trivia: if you check the panels, the ones who got the oolong tea are Tsuji and Inukai since they have the same tone/colour in their glasses, and Ninomiya's favourite is ginger ale so Hiyami must have gotten the orange juice.

3. Did Chika just eat four bowls of rice OMG Is she supposed to be the Goku or Luffy of World Trigger...she does have the power potential...

4. Like Osamu I'm surprised by how easily they talk about it, but it does fall in line with World Trigger and their characters. And the word choice Inukai used: 'stole a march' kind of makes it sound like he's gonna meet up with her once they're in the Neighbourhood, that they all have the same goal...I guess that's what gets to me, no one is worried for Hatohara. Do they not know enough about what the Neighbourhood is like? Only Ninomiya seems to be really looking into it, and he's doing it more because he thinks she's been tricked (while the others on the squad seem to treat it as her decision...but then, they are younger than her, except Inukai who is still a peer and not older and in charge of her like Ninomiya is, AND Inukai is known for his psychological warfare - no wonder kageura doesn't like him - as revealed in this chapter...and I don't know where I'm going with this, but they are so not worried that even Osamu brought it up...) Anyway, this is probably why Yuzuru doesn't like them. He thinks Hatohara quit and is pretty cut up about it, but Ninomiya squad knows she secretly went to the Neighbourhood instead and they're okay with it (except Ninomiya).

5. Anyway, I wonder who else Ninomiya asked about Hatohara, since Inukai mentioned 'too'.

6. And a theory is confirmed! The photo was taken from Inukai's birthday party, the day before Hatohara left.

7. And another theory as well, that Hatohara went to the Neighbourhood for her little brother. To be fair, this was the most common theory ever since we saw her family makeup in BBF; all those parallels to Chika...

8. I'm not sure if I brought it across well enough, but in Japanese the particle Konami uses does have connotations that Chika isn't but someone else is. It's a common trick but you don't really get this in English.

9. Only Hus and Chika beats Ninomiya in trion so Yuba squad can't be higher than trion 11. Though thanks to Kitagawa showing up in the Parameter Ranking in BBF, we'd always known that Yuba squad's trion had to be Rindou Takumi (9) size or lower and same goes for every other unintroduced HQ character. Unless of course Kitagawa is only on there because she's one of the few trappers and other unintroduced characters would have been on the ranking but for spoilers.

10. Anyway, the fact that they bring up that plan against Ninomiya here means it probably isn't going to work the exact way they said, but also that some kind of frontal confrontation with Ninomiya is likely to happen...!

11. in conclusion, I’m going to be overseas when the next chapter comes out...we’ll have to see how this goes...
