The greatest crimes in the world are not committed by people breaking the rules but by people following the rules.

#DailyTarot // This card has been showing up a lot lately for me in personal readings I've done. The PAGE OF SWORDS asks you to challenge the system and stand your ground, tether yourself to your truths and be honest with yourself. Cut through what may be holding you back or giving you a hard time. Investigate everything! Ask all the questions and turn over every rock if you must. Just don't take "no" for an answer when trying to reach your full potential today. DECK: Next World Tarot #tarot #nextworldtarot #pageofswords #beyourself #challengethesystem #taroteverydamnday

“Out of Order” My eyeballs could no longer bear with the violently bright light shooting out from my computer screens. I decided to print the lengthy reading assignment out. After all the tedious setting and clicks, I went to the printer. “Out of Order.” Come on! Why couldn’t the machine act properly when I need it. I was disappointed. Then I thought. “Out of Order - who said so exactly?” “Who is in power to put this sign up?” “How long has this sign be here for?” “What is ORDER anyway?” “IS ANYTHING EVER IN ORDER IN LIFE??” Then I went ahead to print my jobs. And it WORKED. This story proves: Art Therapy Program in SAIC is training my head to notice the assumptions, question the people in power, and challenge the system. And it is working. #arttherapy #saic #breaktherules #art #chicago #challengethesystem #criticalthinking #welljustaprinter https://www.instagram.com/p/B8ISEMWgAl5/?igshid=c8fdv42z8hct

Thoughts.
I have so much I feel, and want to voice, but absolutely no ability at all to organise my thoughts. I am going to begin blogging every day in an attempt to soothe my jumbled brain. First thing that I feel like writing about tonight, has a pretty deep subject matter, but it is something I believe in wholeheartedly - and that is the power of our minds. We live in a time where happiness is defined by materialistic items, and our way of life is extremely warped. Obviously when I speak about these things, I am not referring to everybody - I always try my hardest never to generalize - but the vast majority of people and also the higher powers who we are 'run' by have this mindset and they pass it on to those of us who can't think for ourselves. Governments; councils; presidents; prime ministers etcetera are the ones who hold the power over us people - and if you want to survive this day and age, you have to (in some way) conform to the way of life they condition us to live. Obviously there are those amazing people who venture out and live off the grid, adventuring and living a minimalist lifestyle - and that is insanely amazing - but not all of us can do that. We are 'taught' from a young age, to go to school - 'to be moulded into state approved, homogenous drones that cannot think outside of the prescribed consensus. We are taught to repeat information instead of think for ourselves so that we don't become a threat to the status quo. When we graduate, we get a job, pay our taxes, in order to perpetuate the corporate system of indentured servitude' - not quite sure who said that, but it is absolutely true. We have warped ideas of what life should be, and about what should make us happy. We have all these generalized, derogatory stereotypes that are bred into generations of children, and grown into generations of hate filled idiots. We judge people based on the way they look, and what they decide to do to their bodies, though it has nothing to do with us. We judge people for what they believe, where they grew up, and for who they decide to love. We judge people for everything - when really, all we should be doing is being grateful for every day we open our eyes, and appreciating how great we have it compared to some. Obviously we have to have some kind of order - I understand that, but I am not going to pretend to understand what kind of order that is. In my opinion, if you strip it all right back - everything - what it comes down to is that we all are born in our mothers wombs, we are all human beings, and we are all on this earth together. The only thing we are separated by is water. Your skin colour, sexual orientation, faith, accent, upbringing, etcetera all should not come into it for any reason other than celebrating our differences and appreciating life's diversity. I might sound naive, but I don't care at all. Strip things back - it will all make more sense. Think for yourselves, do what you want, open your mind, challenge what you are told, educate yourselves, smile and talk to a stranger, live every single day as though it is your last, because as cliche as it sounds, we get one life, and I do not want to waste mine with such disgusting, archaic ways of thinking. I want to wake up every day and be over the moon with the small things - being able to see, being able to hear, having a beautiful, healthy family, and beautiful healthy friends. I want to surround myself with positive energy and eliminate the bad. I want to have a happy, healthy soul, and live as a compassionate, generous, good human being. Become enlightened, and just be happy. Happiness is the most underrated thing in the world.

Build a Room for YOUR Unique Narrative
Fiction and academia are the two ways that ensure that narratives continue to be told. These narratives influence the way we think about our own realities, our lives outside of media and the classroom. One of these mediums is more pervasive and one is more persuasive and both of them are dominated by constant narratives of the kyriarchy in play, but it doesn’t have to be this way. I do not have to be a passive part of this system; I can break it down from the inside. By continuing to engage in conversation—even if it is slow going, even if I have to shout—I too can carve that new space in the world. Remind the world that I exist. The only way to have a story is to tell it.
Let me end this triumphantly: Make work. Do work. Read lots. Write more. Don’t stop talking. Don’t leave. You can’t change something without staying, even if it’s hard, even if it hurts. This is how I am going to build a room for brown girls; this is a way we can
