Information:

Fern is a green steve who went into hibernation before the events of steve saga origins began.

They woke up at a couple of points during steve saga origins but fell back into hibernation.

This blog begins when she awakens during Reverse Steves arc in the steve saga.

If I had a nickel for every time I came across an incredibly queer media where one of the main characters was magic-powered teenage girl born into a very wealthy and influential family run by a wholesome bisexual dad and an insanely toxic mother who's complicit in trying to cause the apocalypse, who eventually falls in love with a social outcast who constantly gets themselves into trouble at school and travels between worlds with them and then eventually saves said worlds...

...I'd have two nickels. Which isn't much, but it's weird it's happened twice.

Wouldn’t it be just horrifying for the guardians of the Silent Realm in Skyward Sword to be corrupted by either malice or gloom from BotW/TotK and thus looking essentially like the blights that killed the champions?

And wouldn’t it be so fun to make Sky and Wild have to face that horrible combination of what’s probably somewhere in the top five of their worst nightmares?

Just imagine it, the Silent Realm bleeding through into the regular realm on Skyloft. The color slowly draining away into that haunting bluish-grey of the Silent Realm. Eerie bells ringing in the air. Gloom seeping onto the floor, because the Silent Realm has been corrupted, and it’s no longer a place Hylia has any control over.

The guardians of the Silent Realm with gloom covered weapons, eyes dripping gloom from them, and bodies becoming more and more coated in gloom as the guardians flicker in and out of view near the Light Tower on Skyloft.

And then the guardians awaken. You know, the guardians that have never been fought before and therefore have no known method of defeating them?

Siege and Storm- Chapter 19

Yeah, it's gonna be called The Blight and you'll lose your essence.

This would support the "subconscious" theory of what happened, when Alina claimed the third "amplifier". Merzost works with intent to a point. She received incredible amount of power (possibly "corrupted" by its doubtful provenance). She wanted the Fold gone, but she also didn't want to live as herself and without Malyen, so she destroyed what made her unique- including her amplifiers-, passed it on others (Much power with three amplifiers- many Sun Summoners) to finish her job and Malyen's miraculously revived by a couple of Heartrenders, who weren't able to save an arm days before.

Aleksander's fuck up ended with the Fold, hers with the Blight. He reaps both the blame and the consequences.

Did you think Alina can dehumanize only others?

Wrong!

Alina tries to make someone else feel better, when she has nothing to gain, by herself!

I repeat: Alina acts selflessly out of her own free will (probably for the first time in this book)!

It's the least you can do after everything she's done FOR you...

I don't think David asked about Genya's well-being to judge her, but that's a concept Alina might be too unfamiliar with.

Comfort?! She's attempting to COMFORT him?!

I have a feeling Alina should argue with Malyen more often. It helps her empathy for others.

No wonder Alina's journey ends, where it began, after she achieves virtually nothing... with this attitude...

Watching Noelle is like watching Season 1 Amity all over again. She's just going into a gay panic every five minutes, I love it. It's like, "Girl, we gotta introduce you to Chappell Roan ASAP."

Love that the episode ends with Amity being thrown into her new friend group. She's come a long way, and her character development has been one of the main storylines of the first 17 episodes, with her now finally standing up to her former friends in this episode. It just feels right to end these halcyon days of the show with her being so heartily welcomed by her new friends.

Hopefully, that's just because the cave mouth has been eroded differently and plant growth has been more sporadic.

🌈 Happy Pride Month y’all!!!! 🌈

I’m back at it again with a multi-chapter, slow build fic that dives deep into the psyche of Alador as he learns how to navigate emotional, physical, and sexual intimacy with Darius post-canon. It’s full of humor and fluff and (eventual) smut, but also features brief descriptions of past verbal, emotional, and sexual abuse (from Odalia to Alador) and also features characters reacting to those past instances. Self-deprecation, intrusive thoughts, and intense levels of anxiety occur throughout.

Summary:

Alador never gave much thought to dating again after his divorce. With reconnecting with his children, rebuilding the Isles, and inventing a way to remove the Coven sigils, he didn't have the time. And if he did, he never would have considered Darius, his ex-best friend and sworn rival. But after Darius’s attempt to kiss him after the first successful sigil removal, Alador found himself doing exactly that. But, not at first. First was a game of wits, a competition of who could out-surprise the other. Love was war, after all, and defeat would come at a great cost.

Snippet Sunday II

Hi! Welcome to Sunday! Here is my snippet for this week.

There was a brief pause and a ripple of delight before it answered. Heroes need quests, it said. They need prophets to tell them what to do. If this Hero didn’t find your prophet, they wouldn’t be able to find me.

That sounded vaguely familiar like he might have heard it in a history class many years ago. Once the words processed, confusion dripped against his ribs. “Wait, so – wait, Theo’s… against us?”

Of course, the Blight said. He’s a prophet. He belongs to your gods.

“They’re not…” his protest trailed off. That didn’t make sense. Theo had never been against him – even as children, the rare few times they were pitted against each other, he always cracked first and resigned to defeat, allowing Cain to claim a victory rather than be on opposing sides.

Was that what was happening this time? Fate itself twisting to put them on opposing sides, but routine coming through like always to grant him – and, as a result, the Blight – victory? Theo had seemed so earnest on the coach, so concerned, but he just didn’t understand. When he eventually did, he’d bow to Cain’s success like usual, and it would all be alright, wouldn’t it?

Before his thoughts could race and swell too much, they were cut off neatly, the concern severed from his head. He’ll bow, the Blight told him. We’ll succeed.

“Right,” Cain agreed, unsteadily at first, which wasn’t right, so he put more force into it. “Right! It’ll – it’ll be fine. It doesn’t matter.”

They sent Heroes after me last time, it remarked. They couldn’t stop me then, and they won’t now.

Veilguard gives me regret for what could have been. But I just replayed Inquisition for the first time since it came out and romanced Solas for the first time and so Veilguard at least attempts to give back the feels. The writing deserved better. The pathways and politics and oppression in the previous games deserved a presence and real resolution in this last game. It deserved to be as mature and deep and painful as before. Though I digress. That's what I'm on ao3 for.
