Ya lel ma atwalak يا ليل ما أطولك (remixed by Nour) by checkpoint303 On R.I.M.I.X (KKV, 2019), DJs and sound artists from the Palestinian and Tunisian alternative scene join forces to pay tribute to Rim Banna by remixing seven of her songs. Just like Rim, the remixes are a mixture of eternal optimism, defiance and resistance as well as beauty, devotion and fragility. The up-beat, electronica, dub, house and club-style pieces are composed in the spirit of celebration of Rim's legacy. This album, released exactly 1 year after Rim Banna passed away, is a reminder that her voice and message are here to stay. The "RIMixers" on this album are: Checkpoint 303 ➤ http://bit.ly/2D4afha Ministry of Dub-Key ➤ http://bit.ly/2VxNrO7 Nour ➤ http://bit.ly/2D6DhMW Nasser Halahlih ➤ http://bit.ly/2VyXQZR Album track list 01 - The Dream / Al-7olom (remixed by Nasser Halahlih) | 4:40 02 - Loving you / U7ibbuka (remixed by Checkpoint 303 feat. LE FAN
MON PÈRE A LES CHEVEUX LONGS, COMME MOI… (roman, extrait)
« Séance de dédicaces à World Of Music, sur Augsburger Strasse.
IAN — Bonjour, tu t’appelles comment ?
AUDOUIN — Audouin.
— Pardon, tu dis ? Baudouin ?
Glorian…

..There was one way to find out if she was as good at her task as she and Kyprioth hoped, and that was to pull off a war. “What’s a little thing like revolution between friends?” she wondered, and looked ahead.
[...] ...”It’s all so much bigger than I could have imagined,” she murmured. They all waited for what she would say next. Finally Dove took a deep breath and asked, “Have we a symbol? Some ordinary thing, so the common people and the middle classes will know that our country is changing?” ...”Something more subtle. Something that looks like a message, that can be put in places where officials won’t notice it.” “Something to shake the regents up,” murmured Aly. “If the regents are shaken up,” Fesgao pointed out, “they will not take it kindly, I warn you.” “No, I suppose not,” Dove acknowledged. “But they’re already behaving stupidly....” ... “A symbol,” Dove told them. “Scratched into plaster, written on a proclamation that’s been nailed up, dug in the dirt, painted on a door or a shutter. Something easy-”
“An open shackle with a few links of chain attached,” suggested Chenaol eagerly. “For freedom.”
[...]
...Aly stumbled and nearly tripped when they passed through Nimegan Square. Someone had made changes to its fountain, one of the city’s attractions for its carvings of climbing monkeys on stone trees. Cut into the white marble a foot apart, the open shackle symbol lined the rim all the way around.
[...]
“...Make sure everyone tells a different tale- if it’s always the same one-” “They’ll know it’s planted,” Atisa recited. It was a lesson Aly had taught often over the winter. “Do you want me to pass it to the rest of our pack?” Aly shook her head. “They’ll get their own rumors. We’ll ensure the regents and Topabaw have plenty to worry about here at home as well as in the outlying Isles.” “Will talk really bother them?” Atisa asked quietly, her black eyes serious. Aly patted her on the cheek. “It’s hard to ignore talk that’s just talk,” she said, and smiled. “It’s funny, though, how gossip can burrow under the skin. You can’t make it go away, and you can’t answer it. The target goes frantic, trying to find where it comes from.” “And frantic people make mistakes,” Atisa replied, once again quoting Aly.
[...]
...As they wandered down a line of stalls, Aly noticed a thing or two: someone had carved the open shackle symbol into a doorpost....
[...]
...At some point during the afternoon, talking in strictest confidence with their new friends, all of them would pass on some bit of gossip that would sit ill with those who collected it for the palace. The rest of Aly’s pack, and more of the people they had recruited, were out performing the same service. Little of it would go straight to Topabaw or to Rubinyan’s spymaster. People who worried about the stability of the government chattered constantly, the threads of gossip twisting as they passed from one person to the next. By the time they reached those who were most interested in holding power, the strands would be so tangled that no one would be able to trace them back to a handful of sources. Gossip was the realm’s lifeblood, Aly’s da had told her repeatedly. She intended to make this realm bleed with it.
[...]
Something caught her eye. In the lowest right-hand pane in the corner [of the window], someone had scratched a design.... The emblem of the open shackle was cut into the window. More importantly, it had been done from inside. Someone working in the shop, perhaps [the owner] himself, supported the rebellion.
[...]
...Aly observed that one seller of garlic, leeks, and onions had hung a decoration at the corner of her booth. Four bulbs were braided together, connected to a broken circle of leeks tied to a wooden frame. It was a very subtle open shackle.
[...]
Passing a basketmaker’s booth on their way out of Market Town, Aly saw an ornament displayed on the edge of the awning. Palm fronds were woven into the shackle-and-chain design. They want to join, Aly thought, awed. Not just the raka. The merchant luarin. They want to rid themselves of the Rittevons. But will they fight? ”Trick,” she murmured, so quietly that only [it] might hear, “what has Peony to report from Grosbeak? Anything?” ...”Peony says woman called Lutestring come from palace for daily report from Grosbeak. She takes papers and what Grosbeak says. Grosbeak tells her mysterious new sign of four circles then broken circle appears in more places every day. He say half reports he gets say [the spymaster] is turning against the regents. He say other half say regents want to replace [the spymaster]. Grosbeak is shaking. Grosbeak does not tell Lutestring that he is taking all of his money out of money-changer accounts and packing a bag if he must run. He already send wife and children into country today.”
[...]
...More than anyone else, he kept glancing at the regents, his jaw muscles clenched. Topabaw was nervous, And he was nervous about his masters.
[...]
...The shakier the regents looked, the more eager people would be to do things they would not dare if the Crown appeared strong. There was the personal gossip-...-and the more ominous news about what really happened at the fortresses. Rubinyan’s personal spymaster, Sevmire, had told him, ... that more than three hundred and twenty men had died at the fortresses, burned or poisoned. Rubinyan had ordered him to keep that number to himself. If Rubinyan heard that people knew the correct number of the dead, he might think Sevmire or his subordinates had been indiscreet. It could also be that by the time Rubinyan’s spies heard the city gossip, the number of dead soldiers would be vast, amplified by gossip as it passed from one person to the next.
[...]
Ulasim bowed. “Your Grace, my ladies, I...” He paused for a moment, so oddly for him that the ladies looked worried. Ulasim was the ideal manservant and never fumbled. “It’s Topabaw,” he said at last. “He’s-They made an Example of him. By the harbor mouth.” Nuritin jerked, dumping a bottle of ink on her desk and herself. As the maids rushed to stop the ink’s spread and to save the old woman’s dress, the duchess stared at him. “Ulasim, this is a very poor joke,” she whispered. He looked at her not as a servant looked at his mistress but as one human being looked at another. “Your Grace, I did not believe it either. I have just come from the harbor. I have seen it with my own eyes. Topabaw is dead. ...There is no proclamation of his crime, but the royal seal was placed on his chest. Burned into it, actually.” [...] “Whoever takes up his post won’t know everything he did.” Dove looked at her mother, then her great-aunt. “They won’t know his files. They won’t know his agents. And his agents won’t be sure if they aren’t next, or if the new man isn’t there to simply hand out more blame. His networks will be all chaos for a while.”
[...]
...She was about to look somewhere else when a detail caught her attention. An anonymous carver had made an addition to the statue’s belt line. A deep-cut open shackle shone brightly around the weathered bronze of the statue’s waist, above the dip of the sword belt.
[...]
They neared the intersection and checkpoint at Rittevon Square. The great bronze statue of the first Rittevon king was now covered with open shackle insignia, each showing gold through his weathered bronze skin and clothes.

youtube
LIKKLE MAI & THE K。
youtube

Sima Ai's subordinate in TW is Huangfu Shang, is there any info on him? Did he have a rivalry with Sima Yong's subordinate Li Han?
Huangfu Shang was a north-westerner, a member of the famous Huangfu clan of Chaona in Anding. His precise ancestry is unknown though, so we can't say precisely how he was related to the more famous members of that clan. As a young man he tried to form a friendship with a fellow westerner, Li Han, a talented man but from an undistinguished family. But Li Han rebuffed him, and Shang became resentful. In revenge, he managed to make the Yong provincial administration appoint Li Han as Chief of the Gate Checkpoint. This Chief was the officer in charge of the main entrance to an official's residence. From context we can guess this was not a desirable post, maybe it lacked the opportunities to impress and form connections with higher-ups that was necessary for career advancement. But Li Han managed get recognized by the provincial Inspector anyway, and both he and Huangfu Shang made their careers.
Huangfu Shang went on to earn the trust of Sima Lun, who appointed him Inspector of Liang梁 province. After Sima Lun's defeat, he left his post and came to Sima Yong at Chang'an. By then Li Han had become Sima Yong's chief of staff, he recommended they should not give any help to a former follower of Sima Lun. The resentment between Huangfu Shang and Li Han grew further.
Huangfu Shang made his way back to the capital where he became one of Sima Jiong's advisors. Li Han also came to Luoyang for an appointment there, but worried because he was on bad terms with Huangfu Shang and other members of Sima Jiong's staff. So he fled back to Sima Jiong, claiming to carry a decree from the Emperor to execute Sima Jiong. This then led to Sima Yong turning against Sima Jiong.
Huangfu Shang survived the fall of Sima Jiong to become an advisor also for Sima Ai. And his older brother, Huangfu Zhong, had since the mid 290s been Inspector of Qin province, and governed the regions to the west of Sima Yong. Li Han advised Sima Yong that since Huangfu Shang was trusted by Sima Ai, Huangfu Zhong could become a threat in their rear. However they could secure a capital appointment for Huangfu Zhong, and then arrest him when he passed through Chang'an. Sima Yong went along.
Huangfu Zhong however learnt about their plan, he sent back to Luoyang denouncing Sima Yong and Li Han, and gathered troops to oppose them. Sima Ai tried to calm things down by ordering Huangfu Zhong to disperse his troops, and summoned Li Han to be Intendant of Henan, who governed the region around Luoyang. Li Han came to Luoyang, but Zhong ignored the decree. So Sima Yong sent some of the local provincial forces to attack.
Sima Yong also made Li Han and some of his other allies at court conspire to kill Sima Ai. But Huangfu Shang told Sima Ai about it, and Li Han and the other co-conspirators were executed. This was in August 303.
In September 303, Sima Yong and Sima Ying finally moved openly against Sima Ai. They gathered their troops and sent a joint petition to court recommending Sima Ai be removed from his posts, and the General of the Left, Huangfu Shang, be executed.
On 21 September, or soon after, Sima Ai sent Huangfu Shang to defend the mountain passes west of Luoyang against the advancing army of Zhang Fang, Sima Yong's general. On 8 October Zhang Fang defeated Huangfu Shang in a sneak attack. Sima Ai was losing the war, and the situation within Luoyang was becoming critical. So he sent Huangfu Shang west with a decree written by the Emperor's own hand to recruit Huangfu Zhong and other local leaders to move against Sima Yong. This was part of a larger plan to threaten Sima Yong's own base at Chang'an, and force him to recall Zhang Fang.
Huangfu Shang managed to get past Chang'an, but then happened to meet upon one his maternal relatives. This relative hated him, and informed on him to Sima Yong. Shang was captured and killed. Huangfu Zhong continued to resist until 305 when his troops realized no help would ever come, and killed him.

Excerpt:
NGO Monitor has published a scathing analysis of an April 2021 report by Human Rights Watch (HRW) that accused Israel of committing “apartheid.” NGO Monitor analyzed the 217-page report along with its 867 footnotes.
HRW conducted almost no primary research, NGO Monitor found. Instead, HRW cited itself approximately 175 times, or in 20% of the document’s footnotes. HRW also cited B’Tselem approximately 70 times, and 20-40 times for Peace Now, Adalah, Gisha, HaMoked and Ir Amim, which are “all politicized NGOs active in the anti-Israel ‘apartheid’ campaign,” according to NGO Monitor.
In total, NGO Monitor found 303 total flaws with HRW’s report, divided into 105 errors, 136 misrepresentations, 37 omissions and 25 instances of a double standard.
...
Additionally, the “falsification of quotes also shows the deliberate dishonesty of HRW,” stated Aizenberg. “A mistake here or there may be acceptable, but we counted at least 20 quotes either altered or grossly misrepresented. One example is a quote by Shimon Peres claiming to show that Jews sought to ‘dominate’ Palestinians. Peres refers to certain events as a result of Arab attacks on Jews, but HRW deliberately alters the quote to claim it evidences intent for Jewish domination.”
Gerald Steinberg, NGO Monitor’s president, told JNS that “HRW’s falsification and manipulation of numerous ostensible quotes, distorting their obvious meaning, and the massive rewriting of history, highlights the methodological farce [of HRW’s report].”
“Equally egregious are the double standards,” Aizenberg said. “HRW cites as apartheid actions that all nations legally take without claims of racism. To claim Israel’s identification as Jewish is apartheid when many dozens of nations identify one religion in their governing documents, including European countries (e.g., Greece and Denmark are constitutionally Christian) is the height of hypocrisy.”
...
“Perhaps more egregious than the errors are the omissions,” Aizenberg said. “HRW’s clearly articulated thesis is that all Israeli actions are due to pure racism. Of course, many Israeli actions, from restricting access to Gaza to manning checkpoints in the West Bank, are for security reasons, to stop terrorism. How does HRW deal with this fact? It erases all terrorism; it literally does not use the word ‘terrorism’ once in its document, or related words such as ‘suicide bombing.’”
...
So, what should be done? “The best way to hold HRW accountable is to make people and institutions aware and force HRW to answer for their falsified report. For those who loathe Israel, the truth will not matter. But for the larger numbers who simply don’t know and believe that a group like HRW must be accurate, showing how the report is fraudulent can make a difference,” Aizenberg said
Steinberg agrees.
“Powerful NGOs like HRW (with an annual budget of $110 million) need to be named and shamed by exposing these shoddy propaganda stunts,” said. “When journalists, academics and diplomats are too embarrassed to cite reports like this, they will stop describing the NGO as ‘highly respected.’ And when donors to HRW in Los Angeles, Berlin, Toronto and Sydney recognize that they are paying for this travesty, they will stop the funding.”
