It is not strange? Thomas Rhett can fill arenas, Morgan’s doing multiple nights in a row at football stadiums. They’re opening for him. Like when Stapleton and Blake opened for George strait

Blake was not an opening act for George. Cody Johnson and Caitlyn Smith were the openers for both of them. Same with Chris. He was not the opener. I believe Little Big Town was.

I believe Blake toured with George in 2009 also, for multiple dates, with Julianne Hough as opener. That felt more like a supporting act than the joint Foxborough concert ten years later.

All that aside, I think Blake would not mind being billed as an opener for George, and I believe he has said he would love that, even though he wasn’t. But I def think he would not be an opener for MW. George and MW are not the same in cm. George is king and MW is popular right now.

Fall Out Boy - April 6, 2024

We were running late and got to Target Center at the very end of Hot Mulligan's set, and entirely missed CARR due to our own poor scheduling (a quick Google search ahead of time would've informed us that in addition to a sold out Fall Out Boy concert, there was a Twins game at Target Field, and a sold out Chris Stapleton concert at US Bank Stadium - but we didn't think of that, and therefore didn't plan on waiting over an hour to get a table at literally any restaurant). A small hiccup; my sister was most excited for Jimmy Eat World (playing immediately before Fall Out Boy - a longtime favorite of hers who she had never seen live), I was most excited for Fall Out Boy, and Cory was rather indifferent to the whole thing.

I decided I would try to fight the crowds and buy a shirt before Jimmy Eat World started. The lines were long, but everyone was too busy talking to the friends they came with to notice the woman standing on the other side of the merch table, with no line in front of her, waving her arms widely. I walked towards her hesitantly, she shrugged and I fully skipped the line. As I noticed out loud that the shirt I wanted was sold out in my size (and the next size down, and the next size up), she said "Hold on, there's a truck unloading and I think they just brought more of that one in."

She swiftly came back with the shirt I wanted in the right size. The whole interaction was the first of a few moments that night that sort of felt like, just for me?

Jimmy Eat World was, of course, fantastic. Leading up to the concert, I listened to a bunch of their music to refresh my memory, and really grew to love the songs Big Casino and Lucky Denver Mint, and was happy to hear them play both during their set. Work always gets me, and really hits live. It was unfortunate that I could only see passing glances of the band past the un-rhythmic dancing of two (definitely inebriated) women in the next section over, a few rows in front of us. Since we had tickets in the lower level (not floor tickets), everyone was seated - except for the two dancing girls. Thankfully, my sister told me after the fact that her view was significantly less disrupted than mine. Everyone stood when they closed their set with The Middle; a perfect, nostalgic finisher.

In between sets, we talked to the group sitting behind us. They had gone to Fall Out Boy's Somerset, Wisconsin show last summer. A show I desperately wanted to go to, but had already signed up and paid for a 5 mile run the same day (one I do every year, with my sister) when I found out about that concert, and ultimately picked the run. My FOMO with that show didn't last - there was bad weather and bad communication amongst venue staff whether it was a weather delay or cancellation. I saw a lot of angry and upset people on social media, it looked like a mess. My 5 mile run in the sunshine was the correct choice. The group behind us spoiled the upcoming surprise B stage moment with Pete Wentz, but that was okay. They wondered if the band would do anything special since it was the last night of the tour.

The lights went down, and everyone got up on their feet, cheering. They started strong with Love From The Other Side, (accompanied by a good amount of pyrotechnics) and I can't express how psyched I felt. The word feels silly, but I can't think of a better one. I'd loved the So Much (For) Stardust album for over a year at this point, and had been dying to hear some songs from it live. After playing a few hits with plenty of cool visuals (and more pyro), I felt my phone vibrate and saw an Instagram notification during Chicago Is So Two Years Ago, that Justin Pierre (the lead singer of my all time favorite band, Motion City Soundtrack) was going live - "with Fall Out Boy". Almost as quickly as my brain registered that and showed it to Cory, Justin Pierre came out on stage singing the outro just like he does on the original recording from 2003. Maybe it shouldn't have been a surprise since Justin Pierre is from/still lives in Minneapolis, but it was an absolute delight to see the "biblical" version of the song, and just felt like a precious moment in the pop-punk scene. How lucky I was to witness it (just for me?).

A mix of more old and new, hits & deep cuts later, they played my favorite song from So Much (For) Stardust, Fake Out. It sounded so good live and was the song everyone put their phone lights up for. It was the perfect way to get that song. After that was a little piano medley from Patrick Stump that included Purple Rain (because of course, it's Minnesota) and his vocals were perfect.

A few songs later came Dance, Dance. Thanks to the folks behind me, I knew not to focus on the main stage. Instead, I watched the tall rectangle enclosed in black fabric near the back of the floor, which was almost directly in front of me. A few seconds into the song, Pete Wentz began to rise on a small platform playing the bassline that haunted my sophomore year of high school. I felt like a teenage fan girl.

I had done enough research to know that Fall Out Boy had been doing "magic 8-ball songs" on this tour - 2 songs (always at the same point in the setlist) that were a surprise from night to night. I was curious to see what we would get, and was a bit indifferent to getting Honorable Mention (honestly, I didn't really know this one well, but they hadn't played it since 2007 so that's pretty cool) and Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying (Do Your Part to Save the Scene and Stop Going to Shows) (which I knew, but it wasn't a favorite), but then they brought up the Somerset show. There were lots of people there that night that had also gone to the other show, and they said they wanted to make it up to everybody. So they played another magic 8-ball song - The Carpal Tunnel of Love (another non-favorite of mine, but hadn't been played since 2008, so that, again, was pretty cool). After that, they played another magic 8-ball song. This time they brought CARR out for Rat a Tat (another non-favorite, but cool to see CARR, and it was the first time they'd played the song live at all). They asked if we wanted another one. Duh. This time they played a song I had been randomly been obsessed with for a few months leading up to the show - The Kids Aren't Alright. I was floored. I sang along loudly and cried. It was so good (just for me?). They gave us one more magic 8-ball song, Wilson (Expensive Mistakes), which was exciting for me because I think MANIA is an underrated album and I wasn't expecting to hear anything from it. After six magic 8-ball songs (instead of the usual TWO), they played a few more hits before closing with Saturday, as always.

I left that show feeling so fulfilled. Like, no thoughts of "I wish they would've played..." or "I wanted to hear...", just pure contentment. I felt like the emoji with stars for eyes. I live for that shit.

Glessner Going Country for this Year’s Backyard BBQ

It’s actually his favorite genre of music. Gary Glessner loved Styx back in high school and Fleetwood Mac was cool then, too, but these days if this husband, father, and business owner is listening to a little Luke Bryan or Chris Stapleton, he’s at peace and pleased. That’s a big reason why country music will take center stage during Oglebay’s third annual Backyard BBQ this Memorial Day weekend. Country star Rodney Atkins is scheduled for the Main Event that’s set to begin at 5:30 p.m. at Camp Russell. The concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. and food and beverages will be on sale inside the venue. The Glessner Group, a financial and insurance firm in the Elm Grove neighborhood in Wheeling, is the presenting sponsor for a third straight year. Open to all, Oglebay’s Backyard BBQ Festival at Levenson Shelter is a must-attend summer extravaganza. But can he sing those songs? “Oh, I definitely cannot sing,” Glessner admitted. “Not even in the shower. “When I was younger, 1970-80s classic rock was always my favorite, but as I got older I really enjoyed country music the most,” he added. “So, this year promises to be the most exciting year of all since our area has been known for country music for a long time. Howdy folks! Seems like we've been on the road a lot this year and here we go again. But, I'm not complaining because this trip is an actual vacation. For some unknown reason I've always wanted to visit Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA. So, that's where we're headed for a little R&R. We know it's hot, but it's hot everywhere! As you may have guessed, we will make a three day pitstop in Nashville to see the grandbabies and go to the George Strait / Chris Stapleton concert (tickets were Bill's Christmas gift last year!)

This one is for the feed customers. We don't mean to sound like a broken record here, but it is very important for inventory control (amongst other things) that you call or come in the store prior to pulling up in the warehouse or to the bulk bins to be loaded. One of the main reasons is so that we make sure someone is in the warehouse or at the bins to load you. Nobody likes to wait! When you come in first the sales clerk will radio the warehouse and the guys will be there waiting for you instead of you pulling in and being frustrated that nobody is in there. They guys have many jobs to do in different parts of the property and are not always in the warehouse. But if we can radio ahead, they will be right there. I could go on and on about all the reasons that we've implemented this system but that's annoying! The bottom line is we take our job very seriously and customer service continues to be our top priority and loading you quickly is of the utmost importance to us.

Sooo, I went to a concert this weekend. A country western show….my sister bought tickets and we sisters all went…. Chris Stapleton ( @serendipitybegins) maybe your out there under another name… I thought of you 😘 and George Strait. Not my usual thing, but I 💕 Chris Stapleton. Your wondering… “is there a point?” She posts pics of Jimin and is talking about Country music. There is a point and not just the one on the top of my head😏…. I was looking and watching and listening to these performances and thought “ Everyone here, is here for the love of the performers and the MUSIC” NOBODY here would even consider “ shipping “ anyone, they would have no idea what that means. They weren’t there because the performers were “ pretty “ and fed a fantasy. They would never go just to possibly see two men touching, and “ proving” a certain group right. The music was ALL…. Chris S wife sings backing vocals, and they sound beautiful together. He talks so lovingly about his wife… this is normal. People there did not cancel him, nor post hateful “tweets “ because he is living a normal life, with a wife he adores. That’s real life, not this fantasy that these people and performers belong to you. Why don’t we all try to listen to and appreciate the music of BTS? Not care or worry about who they hang around with, date or love. They are musicians, poets and performers and they work their asses off to bring us so much. I���m not sure when all this (K-pop) went so wrong, and completely jumped the rails… but we really need to reevaluate and ask ourselves , why these people have become for some our whole personality. And for some a very ugly personality. Do you sleep with your closet doors open or closed? I keep my closet door open all the time, just because it's one of those barn style doors and I like the way it looks open.

Do you take the shampoos and conditioner bottles from hotel? If I like the product I will, but otherwise no. Most of the time I'll take the conditioner because, ya know, you can only go so wrong with conditioner. Because I dye my hair black and I've got very wavy and coarse hair, I am extremely careful with the shampoos I use on my hair. Matter of fact, I can't tell you the last time I actually used shampoo. I cowash.

Do you sleep with your sheets tucked in or out? I sleep with the sheets out. I can't deal with tucked in sheets when I'm trying to get comfy. It produces a similar feeling of entrapment like trying to sleep with socks on does for me. Ew.

Have you ever stolen a street sign before? Nope and I have never had the urge to do that.

Do you like to use post-it notes? If I am in a position in which using post-it notes makes sense then I will use them, yes.

Do you cut out coupons but then never use them? No but I will get coupons in the mail, keep ones I intend on using, and then forget to use them, so kinda the same thing.

Would you rather be attacked by a big bear or a swarm of a bees? No. Just no. Obviously a bear attack is likely to end in death or at least serious injury like dismemberment, but then on the other hand it would suck to be stung by a swarm of bees and you never know, I could be allergic, so I'm just gonna stick with my original answer - no. Just no.

Do you have freckles? Yeah, especially on my shoulders and my back. I will also get some on my face when I'm in the direct sun for a while and I had a lot on my face as a kid.

Do you always smile for pictures? I smile for pictures most of the time, yes.

What is your biggest pet peeve? I don't know. Just general rudeness, really. This is one of those questions where I don't have the answer right now or off the top of my head, but ask me when I'm annoying and I can give you multiple things, lol. Oh, one thing I really hate is when someone tries to continue a conversation with you when it's very clear that you don't want to talk. I don't want anyone to take it personally. Sometimes I just don't feel like talking.

Do you ever count your steps when you walk? I mean I have before, yeah.

Have you ever peed in the woods? Yes, I have.

What about pooped in the woods? I don't believe so.

Do you ever dance even if theres no music playing? Sometimes, I guess? Idk, sometimes I'm the girl that does a little happy dance when she eats.

Do you chew your pens and pencils? No, I don't do that.

Do you still watch cartoons? Not really. Pretty sure the only cartoon I like these days is Spongebob, and I don't have cable, so that's that.

Where would you bury hidden treasure if you had some? Bend over and I'll show ya. Idk man.

What do you drink with dinner? I'm pretty much always drinking a diet soda.

What do you dip a chicken nugget in? I'll usually dip a nugget in ranch or ketchup, and I'll occasionally get sweet and sour sauce at McDonald's.

What is your favorite food? I love chinese food, and then cheese fries with ranch.

Last person you kissed/kissed you? My boyfriend and I kissed at the gas station after work about an hour ago.

Were you ever a boy/girl scout? No, I was not.

Would you ever strip or pose nude in a magazine? Nah, that ain't me.

Ever gotten a speeding ticket? Yes.

Ran out of gas? Almost, and it was one of the scariest times of my life, no joke. It was my first time making the long drive back home by myself, which mind you is like a 10 hour drive, and I was in the middle of the West Virginia mountains with no cell phone service and there wasn't a gas station for miles and my gas light was on and I wasn't sure how long it had been on. I was so scared I was going to get stuck in the mountains alone and not be able to call anyone.

Favorite kind of sandwich? I guess a ham sandwich is my favorite.

Best thing to eat for breakfast? Well, my favorite breakfast of all time is from this little cafe here and it's a platter with French toast with cheesecake filling on top, bacon, eggs and hashbrowns. However, I also love the Sunrise Sampler from Cracker Barrel and a Hardee's chicken biscuit with hashbrowns, lol. I just love breakfast, tbh.

What is your usual bedtime? I go to bed anywhere from 3 to 6 AM. I work 2nd shift.

Are you stubborn? I can be very stubborn when the subject matter is something I feel strongly about or if I am very aggravated, yes. Otherwise, I'd say I'm pretty level-headed.

Who is better...Leno or Letterman? I don't have a preference because I don't follow either of them.

Ever watch soap operas? My great grandma used to always have Days of our Lives playing at her house when she used to babysit my sister and me, so I have some soap opera experience there, yeah. For a little while I was also a fan of Desperate Housewives and Tyler Perry's The Haves and the Have Nots.

Afraid of heights? I say I am, but it's not enough to stop me from things like flying or amusement rides.

Sing in the car? Of course. Singing in the car is awesome.

Dance in the shower? I have before but not regularly, no.

Who would you like to see in concert? Oh, there's so many people I'd like to see live because I just love concerts in general. I'd like to see Luke Combs again, Fall Out Boy again (but have them play their old stuff), Def Leppard, Chris Stapleton, Blackbear, etc.

Can’t get Taylor Swift tickets? See all of Swift’s eras on display at this costume exhibit

Taylor Swift has been breaking records and delighting fans on the U.S. leg of her Eras Tour, a splashy celebration of her career and new releases since the pandemic.

It’s become a notoriously tough ticket to get.

But on the second floor of the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) in New York City, fans can catch glimpses of Swift’s “eras” for much cheaper. “Taylor Swift: Storyteller,” features dozens of costumes and objects spanning her music videos, tours and awards show performances — from the lace gown she wore when performing “All Too Well” on the Red Tour to the “key to the castle” featured in the video for “Bejeweled."

The goal, museum director Tim Rodgers said, was to explore how Swift uses clothing and props to tell stories — almost as much as she does lyrics. “It’s different than stars that use costumes or fashion in order to enhance themselves,” Rodgers said. “Taylor Swift is using costumes and props like a vocabulary.”

Rodgers said Swift’s team came to MAD with the idea because of another exhibit they hosted — “Queer Maximalism X Machine Dazzle” — featuring the work of artist, performer and costume designer Matthew Flower, also known as Machine Dazzle. “It was totally unexpected,” Rodgers said.

“Taylor Swift: Storyteller” opened ahead of Swift’s three-night stop nearby at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium. Like her concerts, the collection walks visitors through her genre- and decade-spanning career. There's the crystal-encrusted guitar she used when performing her 2010 album “Speak Now,” a hooded bodysuit she wore during her Reputation Stadium Tour, the striped T-shirt she wore in a 2020 photoshoot for “folklore."

“She's a visual storyteller. Everything she does ... it feels very intentional," said Teresa Bocalan, a fan visiting the museum. “So it's really cool to see those outfits up close."

The exhibit, on display through Sept. 4, is accompanied by a playlist of Swift’s music videos — including her short film for the 10 minute version of “All Too Well" — which are projected on screens around the room. Lyrics scrawled in Swift's handwriting adorn key walls in the space.

But perhaps the centerpiece of it all is a more recent piece of Swift’s lore: the flowing red wedding dress she wore in the 2021 video for “I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault),” directed by Blake Lively and co-starring Miles Teller. The song, featuring Chris Stapleton, was an addition to the re-released version of her 2012 album “Red.” Adorned with tulle roses, the dress was custom made for Swift by Nicole + Felicia Couture.

In the video, the red gown is a showstopper — or, more literally, a wedding stopper.

In the exhibit, it seems to hold the same power.

“We had people come in and look at that red wedding dress over there and literally start to cry,” Rodgers said of the exhibit's opening weekend. “It is, for a lot of people, almost like a religious experience to see this clothing that Taylor once wore.”

“I'm also super excited to see the ‘I Bet You Think About Me’ dress over there,” said Greta Myers, a student at the Fashion Institute of Technology. “We haven't looked at it yet. I'm saving it."
