Hello, it's me again 🧟‍♂️
My goal hasn't been reached yet, and now I have stage 4 CKD. My eGFR is currently 27, when 3 months ago it was 42. Please help me move to a place in which I can get good treatment for my CKD.
I'm also immunocomromised, and wearing masks in public for my own safety has opened my husband and I up to being verbally harassed. We already are afraid of holding hands in public, but no matter how hard we try to avoid people, we still have to go shopping because having groceries delivered costs 2x as much 🤺
We already live paycheck to paycheck, im the only one who can work, I work 6 days a week, and the stress alone disables me after work. I'm constantly in pain, extremely dizzy and lightheaded, especially while working.
I have more details in the link about how a nazi truck tried to run me off the road and etc but this post is getting pretty long already ⛹️🏻‍♂️
It would mean the world to me if I can settle down in a blue state, with friends, and with better health coverage, instead of the deep red monstrosity called Missouri of where I am at now.
Please help by boosting or donating ♡☆

A new study led by Dr. Hilla Chen from the Koret School of Veterinary Medicine at Hebrew University, recently published in the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, offers new hope for the management of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in dogs. The research highlights the potential benefits of paricalcitol, a second-generation vitamin D analog, in addressing renal secondary hyperparathyroidism (RHPT) and proteinuria—two critical complications of CKD. CKD is a progressive condition in which a dog's kidneys gradually lose their ability to function properly. While it primarily affects older dogs, younger dogs can also develop the disease. One of the major complications of CKD is RHPT, a disorder that occurs when the kidneys fail to regulate essential minerals such as calcium and phosphorus, leading to elevated parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels. This imbalance can cause damage to bones and other organs.

Please help a young disabled queer artist pay bills after pet loss
hello everyone. I recently had to say goodbye to my best friend in December and it has been really hard on me. I am about 7 thousand dollars in debt due to his medical care because he was hospitalized three times, and his ongoing treatments were expensive (I live in one of the most expensive states in the US and he had to be seen by specialists). I paid for most of his care and supplies with my leave benefits but I often fell short and had to use my credit cards. I have plenty of proof of my expenses in receipts and statements I can send.
I became unemployed right after losing my cat because my employer did not want to give me accommodations after my medical leave. I can't really get unemployment because my disabilities limit what jobs I can apply to. I'm also not eligible for cash assistance because I don't have children and I'm not applying for Social Security (they would limit me further).
I am hoping to get between $400-800 a month to stay on top of interest. I have to pay off as much I can of 3 thousand dollars by May because they will charge me interest after that.
Please help in any way you can, I know times are hard for many people so reblogging and sharing my GoFundMe anywhere you can would help a lot. With such a high goal I need a lot of reach.
I also have to pay $450 a month to keep my car so I'm open to digital and traditional art commissions if you're interested in that, please let me know. I enjoy making art of animals and animal characters and other nature subjects. I'd like to offer $1 per minute in 15-20 minute slots because I need to challenge myself to finish art more quickly.
These would be flat simplistic digital art pieces or ink/colored pencil drawings. More depth and complexity can be added with more time. You can go through "my art" tag on my blog to see some examples of what I make, I can't dig through stuff to attach them here currently. I can send more examples if you need them.
I don't think I posted my gouache pet portraits but that's something I like to do also. These would be a higher price, because they take longer. I would like to offer more in the future when I have things set up officially like sewing patterns and finished plushies or quilts so if you are interested in that, please follow me.
Please also consider blazing this post if you are able, I would be very grateful.

The Insanity of These Times Has Taken Its Toll
Honestly trying to get things done but yanno, I'm a little on edge these days.
I'm dependent on everything the Muskovites want to take from us. And the USAID that the fuckers cancelled is already killing Myanmar refugees in Thailand (one of them died due to the lack of oxygen therapy that was cut off), among other horrid pain/death that is happening from the cutting off of vital healthcare around the world.
Death from this encore clownshow isn't coming, it's here, and it'll be a minute before we start seeing it directly in our neighbors' faces.
I have a longtime friend on Facebook who is on kidney dialysis and who will die if they take his Medicaid, and I as a CKD patient have his future to look forward to (my GFR is poor but not dialysis levels yet...but it's pretty low).
I'm too tired for any of this, and I stg if it weren't for my girls I probably would just cash it in. Y'all kids who had the power to do something fucking didn't because you plugged your ears when you were told that this was the election of your our lives. Y'all kids meaning those who were never inspired to vote and those who never took the initiative and inspired or influenced anyone to vote rationally, and now your pet 🍉 cause will be obliterated by Israel and even more than just Palestinians will die.
And no, I will not go quietly into the fucking night. I'll remind everyone whenever the fuck I want. Your inaction and inaction of those with the power to influence simple fucking minds couldn't even be bothered to do that to save people. Not just 🏳️‍⚧️ or 🏳️‍🌈 people, but your fucking grandmas and grandpas, mothers, fathers, siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other family members or friends you might care about. People are losing their healthcare/medical care. Healthcare workers are losing their jobs.
We are dying.
All because you couldn't be bothered.
So don't fucking come at me whenever I criticize those in power — including the fucking celebrity influencers in Hollywood, no matter who they are — for not using (abusing, even — these issues need the abuse of UTD postings) their massive platforms and doing shit about the issues that they say matter to them. Some of us have been fighting and opening our traps for decades, and some of those same people are the ones who stand to lose the most in this lawless chaos while those who could have done something did nothing but be the circus while our bread got taken away.

I'm sorry, N the Cat
N the Cat is dying.
She has had hyperthyroidism since before the pandemic (and thanks to the pandemic going on as long as it did, she wasn't able to get radiation therapy because the only animal hospital that did that in our state (a mere uber ride away) had just built a new facility and couldn't get the radiation inspector out to certify it. By the time it was done her kidneys had been damaged and she was no longer eligible.
Her chronic kidney disease has caught up with her and even with fluid support we just can't keep up with it anymore and she will probably pass this week. Right now she seems to be okay. She had been to the emergency vet about a week and a half ago to get IV fluids after struggling to keep her hydrated on subcutaneous fluids and seemed to do well, the numbers were going in the right direction, and she had even gained back weight that she had lost. She had stopped drinking, something she had done before, probably because she had a cold/allergies and couldn't smell the water, and I thought she was just not drinking her bowl water after I bought her a new fountain, but it turned out she wasn't drinking at all. She still hasn't resumed drinking. But she was eating and enjoying life and seemed to feel so much better after her $1100 fluid therapy session (wherein the hooked her up to a $9 bag of fluids for 4 hours). We also learned she had lost most of her hearing and couldn't hear me anymore.
Tumblr media
She started hanging out on my bed more, and sleeping next to me, which she hadn't done in a while.
Now I realize she was saying goodbye.
She had been loving, affectionate and again, eating her food.
Here she is on Sunday, sitting on me while I'm reclining on the bed. On Monday she even accepted treats which she had been ignoring for weeks because she was only eating wet food while she wasn't drinking, but had recently started eating dry food again.
Tumblr media
Tuesday morning I woke up to her vomiting, and while I only found one pool of foamy yuck on the floor, I heard her retch a few more times. She also refused food for the first time. Ever.
I was hoping it was a stomach bug, because frankly, her weight was good, she was hydrated, and well, she had just thrown up. But I knew that when M the Cat died from kidney disease, he only stopped eating the last few days.
I got home Tuesday night and couldn't find N anywhere. Not on my bed. Not in any of her usual hiding places. Not in any of her never used before hiding places. I went through the whole house three times calling for her and now that she's deaf she couldn't hear me. I cried and was up all night worrying and was up early Wednesday morning trying to find her again. As in up with the sun and it's June in the Northern Hemisphere.
I called off work because I couldn't find her and if she had hid somewhere to die, I needed to find her body.
At 9 am sharp she crawled out from under the bed I had been sleeping on. She was so far back under it and so deeply asleep she didn't hear me looking for her.
I stayed home with her today because frankly I was a mess, and she needed care. She picked at her breakfast, engaged in some cuddling, and got fluids 4 times today. But by midnight it was clear. She is still losing weight and getting dehydrated no matter how much I give her, and in the late afternoon she retched again and refused her dinner.
I have to go in tomorrow, but I'm trying to split my work so I can go in early, come home for lunch, and then go back for the experiment and come back right after, hopefully getting fluids into her when I'm home. She got into a snit after I gave her appetite stimulant (she hates that I have to rub it in her ear), and pointedly went under the bed, but the room got very hot around the same time, so I think it's cooler down there too.
N the Cat is about 10 or 11 years old. She was my first cat that I had as an adult and she chose me when she was a stray and made it very clear she wanted to live here with me. I have toys and brushes and food I bought her that will never be used or opened because I just never got around to it with my crazy work schedule. We never set up the mini billiards table, but by then she had lost interest in rolling balls. We never got to try the steam brush I bought her last week because I've had to give her fluids multiple times a day and she was only going to sit still for so long.
I just got in her Chewy order with more Delectables (for giving her thyroid pills) and Sheba cat food because I didn't realize we already had a whole unopened box, and the open one was running low.
I may donate it to an animal shelter or food bank when she is gone.
It just feels so unfair. M the Cat was 18 years old when he died. D was 12. I promised N she could be the only cat again if she outlived the other two that I took in when their owner died, but she was already sick by the time they did. And she is dying younger than either of them. She deserves more years. She deserves so much more than I could give her.
I know it's not my fault she had thyroid issues and that's what is at the root of this, but it still feels like I should have done more for her.
N and I have been through a lot. We've been through break ins, new cats, human friends dying, cats dying, health issues, home repair issues and stalker. She survived the streets, losing whatever her first home was, sharing her space with other cats, removal of a tumor and a global pandemic during which Cat Mom had to work.
I'm not going to get another cat for a long time. When she is gone I'm going to hopefully not fall into a depression but actually clean up and reorganize my house in ways that would have upset her to do while she was alive and trying to live here. Things that I should have done but would take away from what little time we have together.
I'm so sorry, N. You deserved another ten years of listening to me whine (or not since you went deaf), of long naps on the radiator, and good food and cuddles and not having to be stabbed with a needle multiple times a day. You deserved to learn more words, and to have a happy retirement with days in the sun because you would be too old to get far if you ran away. You deserved another decade of treats, and enough time for me to comb out your mats because you weren't doing it, and just me being home more to be with you if you didn't want to be alone.
I hope you decide to come out from under the bed to snuggle a few more times before you go. I hope we get a few more days together. I hope you aren't in pain and won't suffer.
I hope you come back as someone else's cat someday, even though I don't actually believe in an afterlife. I just hope there is one, and that yours in wonderful. I hope someday when I die that you and M and D are waiting for me on the Rainbow Bridge and we can all be together again if that is what you want. Hopefully you won't mind sharing my attention and your space in whatever comes next for you.
I'm sorry I wasn't a better cat mom to you. I'm sorry for everything I couldn't give you. I'm sorry I can't make it better.
I love you so much N. I hope you know how much I love you, even if you can't hear me cry.

hi everyone, i'm in need of some help. i hate asking others for anything, but this is different. as it concerns my babygirl of 13 years, apple. this cat has been with me thru everything. my parent's divorce, horrendous bullying throughout junior high, a couple breakups, a svicide attempt, loss, and much more. she is my rock and i wouldn't be here today without her. she got diagnosed with "kidney failure" by a vet on friday, and they swarmed my boyfriend in the clinic and urged us to put her down. that she wouldn't make it a week. i wanted some more time with her, so i took her home that day. when we got home, i started to panic because i was scared she was suffering, and got my boyfriend to contact his family vet to put her down that same day instead. to spare her from suffering. however, as we were in the patient room, about to sedate her to put her down, the doctor came in and looked at the bloodwork we received from the other vet. he immediately stopped the euthanasia-procedure and explained to me that she was not in kidney failure. that she was about in stage 2 of chronic kidney disease, and that she did not need to be put down. apparently some vets refuse to help cats with CKD and insist that there is no hope and that they should be put down upon diagnosis. but he didn't want to do that. so now here we are, she's back home with me and being just-about her usual self. however, CKD is common in senior cats and apple has it. it cannot be cured, and it is terminal, but cats with CKD can live happy, normal lives if they are given treatment and special care. (i've done lots of reading since thursday-friday.) of course though, vet bills and special food for apple is going to be expensive. so i would like to ask, if you can afford to commission me, or if you would like to donate at all, please check out my ko-fi. it would mean the absolute world to me, my boyfriend, my family, and apple. thank you so very much for reading ♥. please don't feel obligated to do anything, just keep her in your thoughts for me.

tw it's a medical update. I talk about surgery
it's official! I need brain surgery.
for all the new faces I can't see, I have idiopathic intracranial hypertension. I have since I was 15, but it wasn't diagnosed and treated until I was 25. for a full decade, I had a migraine that did not let up and no one could figure out why. to be fair, what skinny, barely-scraping-100lbs 15 year old develops IIH? I was taking acetazolamide for it, but unfortunately my kidneys are now chicken fried and I currently have Acceptable™ kidney function.
I'm going to have a ventriculoperitoneal shunt placed. I don't have a date yet, but I expect it to be sometime in the first few months of the new year. it will be risky, but better than permabanning my kidneys and taking one from my brother.
I am,,,,, exhausted. every time I feel like I'm finally on top of my health, something goes catastrophically wrong. thank god for friends willing to stick it out with me through the inconsistency <3

Kidney-Friendly Diet | These Foods are DESTROYING Your Kidney Health
Worried about kidney health? Discover which Foods are DESTROYING Your Kidney Health and slow disease progression. Manage sodium, potassium, and phosphorus for a healthier you.
Many factors contribute to kidney health, and diet plays a crucial role. If you have been diagnosed with CKD, monitoring your intake of sodium, potassium, and phosphorus is essential. Here's a breakdown of foods high in these minerals that kidneys with reduced function may struggle to process effectively:
youtube
High Potassium Foods:
Bananas: While a popular potassium source, a medium banana packs around 422mg, potentially problematic for those with CKD.
Potatoes: A medium boiled potato can contain 735mg of potassium, so enjoy them in moderation.
Spinach: This leafy green powerhouse is loaded with potassium (839mg per cup cooked), so consider portion control.
Tumblr media
High Phosphorus Foods:
Organ Meats: Liver and kidney are rich in nutrients but high in phosphorus (300-400mg per 3oz serving). Limit portion sizes.
Fish: While generally healthy, fish like mackerel, sardines, and salmon contain more phosphorus (300-400mg per 3oz) than some protein sources. Enjoy them moderately.
Dark-Colored Sodas: Besides being high in sugar and calories, these sodas often contain phosphorus additives (around 50-100mg per 200ml), increasing phosphorus intake. Limit consumption.
Read more: Woman Destroyed Her Kidneys (in 2 months) By Taking Common Vitamin.
High Sodium Foods:
Soy Sauce: A delicious condiment, but one tablespoon contains a whopping 950mg of sodium, almost half the recommended daily intake. Opt for low-sodium soy sauce or alternatives.
Canned Foods: Convenience often comes with a cost – high sodium content for preservation. Choose low-sodium or "no salt added" varieties whenever possible.
Dairy Products: While offering calcium and protein, dairy products can be high in phosphorus and potassium (one cup of 2% milk has 252mg phosphorus and 390mg potassium). Limit intake, especially in later CKD stages.
Processed Meats: Hot dogs, bacon, and other processed meats are loaded with sodium for flavor and preservation, making it difficult to manage sodium intake. Limit consumption due to high sodium and protein content.
Conclusion about These Foods are DESTROYING Your Kidney Health"
Consult a nephrologist or registered dietitian for a personalized kidney-friendly meal plan based on your specific needs and lab results.
By being mindful of these foods, you can take proactive steps towards optimal kidney health.

Fibrosis Factor
This mouse kidney exhibits abundant scarring, or fibrosis (red and green). Scar formation is an important response to injury in the kidney, or indeed any other part of the body. But, if the fibrosis is excessive, then kidney function can be severely reduced, which can ultimately lead to the organ’s failure. Scientists have recently discovered that deficiency in the production of a certain form of collagen (collagen V) – a key component of scar tissue – can cause mice to be especially prone to kidney fibrosis and failure. Similarly, humans with low levels of collagen V are also more likely to develop chronic kidney disease (CKD) than people with normal levels of the protein. Lack of collagen V seems to weaken the scar, prompting the body to increase fibrosis to compensate. Importantly, pharmacologically targeting this collagen V pathway promoted kidney repair in the mice, suggesting it might work in CKD patients too.
