I don't like how the Untamed changed the events of nightless city as being AFTER the Wen Remnants had been killed instead of before. Because the insinuation for Wei Wuxian appearing there is that he's out for revenge for what they did. He is there to vent his very justifiable anger, but it's a huge difference to why Novel Wei Wuxian did it.

Novel Wei Wuxian showed up to there to talk. Even after hearing Jin Guangshan rile up the crowd to thirst for his blood and the Remnants, he still tried to talk. It was his last ditch to protect the Remnants without bloodshed. He showed up to see if the clans would keep their promise to the Wen siblings and he was right to do so because, as he expected, they weren't.

It's why it's so important that the clans shot the first arrow. That was the inciting incident to the proceeding fight between Wei Wuxian and the clans. He was there to talk, and instead, they proved once and for all that there was no reasoning with them. They wouldn't rest until he and the Remnants were dead.

He fought to protect the Remnants from them. It was a 100% selfless and justified move on his part. It's why it's ridiculous that the clans still had the audacity to seek retribution from him for their losses that night during the second siege. Its also an obvious way to show that the clans hadn't changed and that it's unsurprising that afterward they had no qualms in switching their attention to Jin Guangyao after all the revelations about him and Su She.

#forgot to post this yday #barbie girl here used to belong to a clan that worshipped unicorns #and was in fact born specifically to be their future leader. his mother drank unicorn blood throughout her pregnancy which would imbue him #with some of their abilities :-)#namely that luscious hair lmao #however his clan had long-standing tensions with another clan that essentially did the same as them but with dragons. eventually they went #to war against each other. Unicorns lost. Barbie Girl's home was raided and destroyed #he was taken as a prisoner and uh gelded to further humiliate his now in shambles clan. he was kept alive but eventually #as an adult managed to kill and escape his captors #i guess they should've had more genre awareness #revenge is somewhat loosely on his mind but he's just one guy and for now roaming around trying to survive and making a name for himself #Unicorns in general are known as violent unnaturally strong beasts and his clan was no different. and he's no different #even though the circumstances of his youth meant he didn't grow up to reach the full potential planned for him #the unicorn's blood did go a long way in making him a mean bastard #he was raised on pain and reacts to most situations with violence. though he has some self-preservation instincts so #he's not starting bar fights left and right or anything #mostly he's known as a brutally efficient mercenary who is willing to pledge himself to any man that could compensate him adequately.#but as careless as he is with whom he promises loyalty to so is he with keeping his promises

for day 2 of campfire fest! prompt: third eye (and i guess could also count for explosion, or a lack thereof lol) @outerwilds-events

#i meant to do something yesterday but i had a crazy shift at work and was feeling lazy lol #anyways. pye and idaea after the probe didn't work #this line of text is the first thing that comes to mind for 'third eye' for me bc its the only evidence/in-game mention of the nomai's -#- third eye being special/different from the other two in some way. im curious if it is actually composed differently and has better vision #or if it is just better for seeing fine details in things directly in front of them since it is forward-facing as opposed to -#- being on the sides of their head #also i just think about these two a lot. can you imagine being co-leaders of the most difficult and controversial part of a massive project #that is so important to so many people including your friends family members and ancestors who have died in search of what you are -#- going to potentially destroy your entire clan while attempting to find #you are building a weapon intended to destroy yourself and the entire star system you were born in #and your co-leader is the person with quite possibly the most opposite opinions and disposition to you #idaea having to grapple with the fact that the failure of something he never wanted to exist in the first place is still upsetting to him -#- because despite their differences he still sympathizes with pye who was so confident and wanted it to work so badly #and both of them as well as anyone else working at the sun station put so much time and energy into constructing it #and that work was so miserable due both to the heat and the tension due to their differing opinions and their own mixed feelings on it #pye having to admit defeat to everyone else working on the project who were so excited for this to finally give them the answer #in front of idaea who was so convinced that it was a bad idea and who she was probably desperate to prove wrong #in front of the entire crew of people who had spent probably months in miserable working conditions #after she had been so confident that it would work and so insistent that this was the only way #and she had to admit not only that it failed but that it couldn't possibly work. that deep down she knew and had probably known for a while #- that it would never work and had continued working on it anyway because she wanted it to work so bad #anyways. the fucking brainworms #tried out a new style for this and i really like how it turned out #outer wilds #outer wilds spoilers #outer wilds nomai #frostgnaw draws

VeeVee (the girlie from my last yautja post) and Raam(orange)#they four are cousins #Royok and Raam though are siblings with a big ass age gap though. thanks to their parents having baby making problems #their clan is basically cursed between gens to having little to no descendants with that small gen then being doomed to handling too much #that besides #Royok was originally the leader but fucked around and found himself eventually overthrowned by VeeVee #he doesnt accept this however and tries lying his way back to that position #among those attempts he lies to the wrong girl and ends up having to raise as a youngblood dru'rak alone #this almost gets him kicked off the clan but VeeVee and the others manage to convince the elders of otherwise #for Dru'rak's sake though #the girls are twins and are supposed to be more pink than ourple but the pen only gets me so far #they come from a different mom and as the first girls who are also twins and with a rare skin color both clans keep fighting for custody #After VeeVee the strongest ones are Royok #Raam is good at hunting and all but is more so Vee's tech guy #Ju'rok is somehow still alive and hasnt done anything stupid enough to get kicked off so he's still around #most of this clan is just VeeVee one heartstroke away from losing her shit. She doesnt share the 1 braincell with the boys #also if anyone knows where i can watch predator:killer of killers for free pls tell me pretty please😊😚😘

Most annoying NMJ or JC take is when someone that dislikes them is like "oh you're a fan of him? *scoff* Well obviously you've only seen cql, where he was super watered down. In the novel he's a dislikable asshole and that's the objectively superior canon I'm working from instead of your woobified fanfic." Meanwhile your main canon is novel canon and you genuinely find novel Jiang Cheng and Nie Mingjue complex sympathetic characters.

That's also why none of them had seen meng yao before.)#you can absolutely choose to interpret that worse things were happening to him at the hands of the nie off-page #it's definitely possible! but cql has people acting like it's objective canon #also the thing about empathy being inaccurate and biased in nmj's favor #that's another cql thing. in novel canon wwx can and does see things nmj does not notice (like the teacups!)#so even if he has some insight into nmj's thoughts and feelings it quite literally can't be showing things exclusively from his perspective #it was a pretty cool ceative decision from cql! gave us some very interesting character moments!#but sometimes i see people discuss the novel going 'and this was warped by nmj's bias i bet he was even worse in reality' girl wrong medium #in jiang cheng's case a lot of hate seems to be coming from the corner of cql!mains too #so clearly it can't be *that* big a difference in likability
