LMS for Language Learning: Competing with Duolingo Through Smarter Features
Tumblr media
Language learning platforms like Duolingo have transformed how people engage with new languages. But Learning Management Systems (LMS) can do more—offering structure, depth, and customization that gamified apps often lack.
Skolasti’s LMS is designed to support immersive, engaging, and goal-oriented language programs. Unlike app-based learning that’s mostly passive, LMS tools provide interactive assignments, live classes, community forums, and performance tracking.
With built-in features like pronunciation practice using AI, contextual quizzes, and culture-based projects, learners move beyond vocabulary memorization to real-world language fluency.
Teachers can also monitor student progress through analytics dashboards and adjust lessons accordingly. Plus, the ability to integrate multimedia—videos, podcasts, games—creates a multi-sensory learning experience.
Institutions and private tutors using Skolasti can offer full-fledged certification programs, set learning paths, and provide peer feedback—something Duolingo can’t replicate.
With a smart LMS, language learning becomes structured, accountable, and measurable—perfect for schools, universities, and training centers.

Do you have any general hc for Powder or Jinx? I’m curious about your ideas 🍒
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
general headcanons 4 jinx & pow ✧˚ ⋆。˚*ੈ𑁍༘⋆
notes: sfw, fluff, very little angst, little mentions of x f!reader, mentions of alcohol, not a v long list :,( srry
Tumblr media
🌸 : ̗̀➛ powder
༯ she does math equations for fun because she’s a loonie. yes she’s teased for it even by ekko who’s equally a nerd but just hides it better. you think it’s incredibly hot how effortlessly smart she is
༯ she loves heading to the lake during summer and spending the day there basking in the sun’s warmth and cooling off in the calm waters
༯ she likes drawing on people to give them temporary tattoos (she has the decency to not draw a penis)
༯ she low-key loves her florals but enjoys adding a neon twist!! that goes for doodling, sewing, painting, pillow covers, etc
༯ she still can’t get the hang of cutting her own hair but she’s accepted it at this point. she lets you do it from time to time :>
༯ after vi passed away in the accident, mylo finally locked the fuck in and dropped the jackass act. it took some time because it had became habit, but soon the two including claggor grew much closer as family
༯ as grown ups mylo now actually really respects powder which is deserved
༯ powder i think studies something along the margins of mechanics at the academy. she’s there building things, wielding metal, using complex math and quantum physics to invent complicated machines/trinkets bigger and smaller. the girl is gettin them hands dirty in those classrooms
༯ possibly has a dorm there during the school year located on one of the middle floors, which she decorates similarly to her bedroom at home; neatly made purple bedsheets, random boxes and tools such as hammers and wrenches scattered about, a cluttered desk stained with ink and blemished with unknown scratches, posters of her favourite artists, drawings and sticky notes with doodles of you and her surrounded by hearts or other random illustrations
༯ despite the obvious busyness in her dorm, she still always manages to find the time to keep it clean and smelling nice. she never leaves food around to go bad, there’s minimal dust, she keeps the curtains drawn and windows open to let in the fresh air while a candle or incense burns
༯ yet somehow she’s terrible with plants
༯ powder lacks sleep sometimes not because she struggles to, but because she gets so hyper focused on her projects (both school and personal ones) and chasing that feeling of accomplishment, that she wants to get them finished as soon as possible. and that includes pulling an all nighter if she has to. she’s a healthy girl, and she puts the well-being of others on a high pedestal as well because she cares. but sometimes she un-admittedly forgets about herself and lets slide the consequences of her risky choices
༯ she has to be physically forced to bed. sometimes—especially if she’s high on her fourth cup of coffee—you gotta fight tooth and nail to tuck her into her bed and under the damn covers. other nights you’re lucky and she’s so exhausted that she allows herself to be dragged like a brainless zombie back to bed
༯ she’s an early bird! likes to get up at 8:00 or 9:00 am to brush her teeth, shower (she showers at night occasionally before bed), and get dressed to get a head start on her day
༯ she usually follows a schedule to plan her days ahead, especially if she knows that she’ll have a lot going on. it helps her feel organized and clear headed, so she has a calendar at home and a notebook that she takes with her every where to jot things down
༯ our sweet girl likes to doodle and skrapbook :3 because she’s a cute little artist. in fact, she shares one with her girlfriend (you), so you guys can document the story of your journeys together ^.^
༯ she collects wild flowers on her random trips outside to place them in vases in her room. she likes the smell and the look of them
༯ when you two are on walks she’ll stop to pick one and tuck it behind your ear and call you “princess pollen”. ‘cause get it? pollen? flowers have pollen? yeah
༯ she keeps polaroid photos taped on her walls above her bed, and a memory box full of them underneath her bed
༯ she really likes to collect and cherish small things. so the memory box under her bed is also filled with more obvious things like friendship bracelets, to lesser obvious things like an old cherry lipgloss (it was the lipgloss you were wearing when you two kissed for the first time)
༯ despite her quieter and more composed nature, i think she still likes to let loose once in a while to go to an upbeat concert and drink with friends
༯ that being said, she’s responsible with her alcohol but she doesn’t have a hard time getting crunk. she’s usually the one holding onto you or others to prevent them from tipping over, but she’s been on the other end a few times herself
༯ in fact one time she fell into a bunch of flower pots in front of a florist’s shop and got yelled at when they broke and the dirt spilled everywhere. she had to get lifted back onto her feet and you and other drunk friends had to pull her away while apologizing profusely
༯ to end powder’s section on a sadder note (sorry), she had a time in her life as a young teen where she struggled while questioning her sexuality. (even though I headcanon the planet arcane takes place on doesn’t have labels on sexuality, i do think some forms of homophobia could potentially exist)
༯ the worst part of it though was coming to the realization that she liked you, her best friend since childhood. and she feared so much that it would be ruined and she’d lose you if her feelings came to the surface and got revealed :,(
༯ but now you’re thriving and cute wonderful girlfriends, yippiee!! <3
🌸 : ̗̀➛ jinx
༯ she never learned her lesson and still tries to eat soap to find out if it tastes god
༯ never expect her to show up on time. she’s on her own schedule
༯ she’s scatterbrained most of the time. but can get very focused on her projects, and she locks in when she’s in combat in the blink of an eye
༯ i think sevika trained her how to fight while growing up, even if it wasn’t super often. because i believe jinx would’ve been a bit reluctant to allow her to teach her due to feeling weak in comparison
༯ building upon that, receiving help from people is something she avoids in general because again, it makes her feel weak and dependent which she relates with ‘powder’. it can even be something she does subconsciously without really noticing until someone points it out
༯ she’s definitely prone to getting hyper fixated. it could be about the smallest thing and could last for who knows how long. and then suddenly it’s gone like it was never on her mind
༯ has loved the stars since childhood! even though now she doesn’t really talk about them anymore. i think it has something to do with never having had the privilege of being able to see the sky clearly all that much while growing up. and to her, the stars look peaceful and quiet all the while emanating their own natural warm light during a prolonged time of chilled darkness
༯ she has a BIG fear of ending up alone. who woulda thought!
༯ she’s bad with small talk. absolutely hates it because she thinks it’s boring. wanna charm her or have a proper conversation with her? don’t start with that nonsense or else she’s throwing a smoke bomb at you for her own theatrics and jumping away laughing
༯ gives in to the intrusive thoughts. the ones that tell her to take a bite out of a block of butter or stick a finger in peanut butter
༯ struggles with sleep but when she does she sleeps like a bear in hibernation. if you pour a glass of water over her face all you’re getting is gurgles without an eye batted
༯ to add onto her sleeping habits, she suddenly turns into a professional contortionist in her sleep. she’s half off the bed, head having moved to the other end sometime halfway through the night, legs facing the opposite direction of her torso. she’s been found sleeping like this more than once. however once in a while she’ll sleep in a fetal position the whole night
༯ she also clings like a koala, her limbs stay wrapped around you in a protective vice grip for the majority of the night. yet it feels so comfortable every time. her body manages to make you feel warm and content while you fall asleep with a small smile and your face buried in her shirt
༯ you can always hear her approaching with those big ass boots she wears. but there will be odd times where you literally don’t hear her at all and she scares the soul out of you even without meaning to
༯ she’ll pat the top of your head as she walks passed you! tee-hee 🤭
༯ she blasts her music in her hideout all the time while working or doing the most mundane tasks. i think we all know this though
༯ lord knows where she gets it all, but her bed always has a messy pile of blankets and pillows on it yet it’s one of the most comfortable spots you’ll sit or lay on
༯ this might be a debatable one but i imagine she came across that giant fan room one day when she needed to clear her head and desperately find a place to hide by herself. it’s not located that anywhere near the last drop either
༯ somehow she still faces noice complaints despite being far away enough from other people and the public
༯ she likes to collect things like powder does, however the things she collects from you are posted up in her base like trophies. she likes her privacy, yes. but when it comes to you, she shows you off all the time. she relishes in being able to brag about it and laugh in the faces of jealous men who wish they can have you but they can’t. because you’re hers she she’s yours
༯ she low-key doesn’t know how to swim that well but she still manages somehow. she has no fear. if she can drink water she can float in water.
༯ she kinda likes the rain too. if you get caught in it or there’s nothing else you two are doing inside, she’ll drag you into an open area and dance with you

What The NRC Boys Wanted To Be When They Grow Up (circa 4 years old)
Tumblr media
Heartslabyul:
Riddle - obviously when you ask, he's going to tell you he wants to be a doctor. every christmas and birthday, he gets a doctor kit. and he likes them! but... if you ask him on a warm afternoon during his free time between the thousand things on his tiny shoulders... he'll tell you he wants to be a painter
Ace - astronaut. hands down. he 100% had those little glow in the dark star stickers on his ceiling and he didn't take them down until high school. on his fourth birthday, his parents got him an astronaut helmet and it was practically welded to his head by the time he turned five. little man yearned for the stars
Deuce - race car driver. he was born with the need to go fast. he would beg his mom to let him watch races on tv and stare with an open mouth as the drivers went around and around and around. he was a big fan of taking big cardboard boxes and running around the yard with them like they were race cars
Trey - dentist. he was an anomaly when he was little: a kid who wasn't afraid of the dentist. he loved going. as a matter of fact, he would often make his friends (mainly chenya) play dentist with him and not understand why they wouldn't let him put his pretend tools in their mouth.
Cater - he desperately wanted to be hannah montana. not like a singer or a dancer, no... hannah montana SPECIFICALLY. the wig, the microphone, everything. he had three hannah montana themed birthday parties in a row
Savanaclaw:
Leona: he could never give an answer when someone asked him what he wanted to be. he knew from a very young age that he couldn't really be whatever he wanted. not in a way that means anything. he wanted to be the king like his daddy, but it was always made clear to him that he could only dream of that. so he just played games and looked at the stars and didn't think of what he wanted to be, just who he was right then. and right then, he was the chess champion of the kingscholar bloodline
Ruggie - cowboy! honestly, he still kind of wants to be a cowboy. he wanted a horse and some cows and a big pasture - the whole nine yards. he never actually got to ride a horse, they were far too expensive, but he would still beg his mom for a cowboy hat and a pair of boots. he got them both when he turned nine and was so excited, he slept with them on. he didn't care that the hat squished his ears and the boots were a little scuffed. he wore them until the soles became more hole than rubber. he still has the hat tucked away in his closet. just in case...
Jack - classic firefighter kid. one day in preschool, a fire truck came to visit in the parking lot, and he was so shocked that he couldn't say a word. the firefighter let the kids sit in the truck and his teacher literally had to pry him out of the seat when they were done, and he cried all the way back to the classroom. the firefighters still made sure he got one of those flimsy plastic hats and a golden sticker of a badge. he thought firefighters were heroes. he still does
Octavinelle:
Azul - scientist. any kind of scientist. he wanted to have a big lab of his own where he could mix up all kinds of chemicals and just... see what happens. obviously at that age, he had very little idea of what scientists actually do but he knew it was the place for him
Jade - he managed to sneak a peek at the original karate kid movie and his life radically changed. from that moment on, he knew he was going to grow up to be a ninja. unfortunately for everyone else involved, this meant he was going to spend years coming up with elaborate plans to sneak up on and attack his brother. his parents quickly became used to the sound of loud, crashing scraps from all corners of the house. but they weren't worried. floyd could handle his own
Floyd - if you try to ask this kid what he wants to be when he grows up and he'll look you dead in the face, say "bagel" and return to his toys. whatever kid
Scarabia:
Kalim - he didn't want to be anything when he grew up, but he wanted to do everything. he didn't want to have a job. in fact, he was never actually told he could do that. instead, he wanted to experience all the joys of life. he wanted to paint and dance and sing and write poems and raise sheep and sail in the ocean and grow figs and play drums and everything
Jamil - this boy practically came out of the womb dancing. he wanted to dance every moment of every day. when there was no one around to play music or kalim was too busy to sing, he would hum little tunes to himself just to have something to move to. he wanted to be one of those dancers who performed all over the world and were applauded with showers of flower petals. he quickly learned that his dream was far from reality. but he kept tapping his toes while he worked
Pomfiore:
Vil - princess. there's no way this boy did not dream of growing up to be a princess. he was obsessed with all things gaudy and sparkly and would try on every single costume available to him. he rarely went to preschool without some sort of mismatched getup on. but his dad didn't care. you can only be this young for so long. so what if his boy wore a crown to school? no one would dare say anything about it, lest they feel the wrath of the schoenheits. vil wouldn't accept any comments that weren't compliments. snide remarks were met with an impressive eyeroll and a flick of his sparkly cape. after all, a princess didn't care what commoners thought
Rook - garbage truck driver. his rich-ass parents were FLOORED when he said this the first time. "honey, don't you want to do something... bigger? like you could run the whole garbage company and make a whole lot of money!" "no! i wanna ride on the back of the truck!" no one could persuade him to dream of anything else. he is immune to your classist ideologies. viva la garbage man!
Epel - he wants to be a vet but SPECIFICALLY a horse vet. like if you mention him wanting to be a vet, he will correct you. the horses around his hometown captivated him and he wanted to be around them all the time. when he was tiny, he would weave around their legs in the pastures and give his family heart attacks. he just loved them so much and they loved him too
Ignihyde:
Idia - he saw sonic the hedgehog once and decided he was going to be dr robotnik. his parents could not decipher why, and they quickly stopped trying to
Ortho - even when he was really little, he wanted to be a teacher. he would line up all his toys and tell them about everything he was learning in preschool. sometimes, the lessons were wrong and idia would pop in to correct him. but that made him mad. he was the teacher not idia! after all, what did idia know that he didn't?
Diasomnia:
Sebek - a swordsmith. not a blacksmith who makes all sorts of things, specifically a swordsmith. he wanted to swing a great big hammer around and make huge, fancy swords. he was often shooed away from the forges and told to stop bothering the craftsmen. but he wasn't trying to bother them, he just wanted to get as close as he could and maybe they would let him hold one when they were done
Silver - he didn't have many ambitions he would admit to. he was a shy kid and didn't like feeling interrogated. but he liked to watch his father play the lyre especially when it was dark and the fire was warm and he was feeling sleepy. lilia always said when he was big enough to hold the instrument, he would teach him to play. maybe it would be fun...
Lilia - he wanted to be a witch. [i hear you saying, "but Ruggie's Biological Father, they're mages so he's already a witch" and i say to you... Wrong]. he didn't just want to cast spells. he wanted a pointy hat and a giant robe and a frog for a friend. once, his mom walked into his room to discover he had her largest cooking pot filled to the brim with no less than nine mystery substances. and it was somehow smoking...
Malleus - being a precocious little boy, he always told people he was going to be a geologist. but he didn't really know what that meant, only that it had to do with rocks which he liked. his dream job was actually wandering around and stuffing his pockets full of rocks. it became a nightly occurrence before bathtime for malleus to stand in front of the bathtub with both arms out to the side and let lilia empty all of his pockets and sleeves and boots. he would laugh loudly as the pile of random stones became a mountain at his feet. lilia would always chuckle, plunk him in the tub, and say "there, now you won't drown"

5 Reasons Why Virtual Classroom Platforms Are Here to Stay
Tumblr media
Virtual classrooms have shifted from a temporary pandemic solution to a permanent fixture in modern education. But what makes these platforms so effective—and why are they becoming essential?
1. Flexibility & Accessibility: Learners can join from anywhere, eliminating geographic barriers. This opens doors for rural students, remote teams, and international participants.
2. Real-Time Interaction: Modern virtual classroom platforms like Skolasti offer video conferencing, screen sharing, and breakout rooms. These features mimic real-life classrooms, encouraging collaboration and discussion.
3. Resource Integration: Digital whiteboards, document sharing, and cloud libraries streamline the learning process. Instructors can seamlessly share materials and assign tasks on the go.
4. Personalized Learning: Instructors can track participation, assign differentiated content, and use data-driven insights to tailor instruction.
5. Scalability & Cost Efficiency: Institutions and businesses can reach large audiences without physical infrastructure, reducing overhead while expanding their reach.
With features that go beyond basic video conferencing, virtual classroom platforms provide a dynamic and inclusive learning environment for the future.

Meeting Johan Seong for the first time: J-High
G/N. Soft because he deserves it. Can be platonic or romantic. Canon compliant. Post 517. Masterlists
Tumblr media
The new guy in your class seems kinda important.
Half the school appeared to be waiting for him on his first day of enrollment, cooing over how sweet he looks in his new uniform as if there was already extensive history there.
You paid him no mind until he was introduced as the new student in your class.
Zack Lee is particularly distressed that he didn't join the Fashion department. He's started hanging outside your classroom most mornings trying to convince him to change vocation before eventually being dragged away by Mira Kim with promises to catch up at lunch.
Daniel Park is less pushy, just greeting him constantly with a smile. He's a sweet kid anyway, greeting everyone and yourself kindly, but he seems especially excited to see the new addition.
As does Vasco and the rest of Burn Knuckles. It's a little unnerving to find the Architecture guys hovering around all morning and see Vasco clap him on the back and tell him he's glad he's not a bad guy anymore.
The girls in your department have taken him under their wing like some kind of stray. Eli Jang too, although the less said about that the better because his haircuts really are atrocious and you shudder to think about his bad habits being passed on to anyone.
Yours, however, aren't.
You're the top of the class and the one assigned to actually show Johan Seong the ropes.
It takes a few days for you to coax him out of his shell, finally winning him over when you show him pictures of your dogs.
You find he's a little bad tempered at first and bratty before he eventually mellows out and knows there's no malice in your words or actions. Realises you're helping him without prejudice and you screeching when he accidentally shaved the training head half bald wasn't a personal attack.
(How he managed that feat with scissors in a split second will forever remain a mystery to you.)
You show him how to hold the shears properly, resting your pinky on them for balance and control. Stress that he should take off too little rather than too much. Teach him to section hair and to angle his snips to soften the lines.
That good coverage is required for colour but you warn not to over promise and applying so much bleach that the hair turns straw-like and brittle should be avoided at all costs.
When you talk, he listens and watches silently then repeats your exact movement in a perfect imitation once you hand the tools back over to him.
You tell him he's a natural at this, after all, and he blushes.
You tell him you want to have your own hair salon one day and cheekily add that he can come work for you.
He hesitates, biting his lip and looking deep in thought, before he tells you that his mom has a hair salon too. That she is the only person who has ever cut his hair.
With a shy smile, he invites you to visit with him one day and you happily agree.

There’s a light breeze over their heads.
Tumblr media
They slowly walk towards Nina’s faculty.
Tumblr media
Marigold would be happy not interacting at all here, but that’s not how it goes.
What could Nina possibly want? Is she testing her? Trying to get some information? Did Eugene asked her to?
There’s only one way to find out.
“So-”
“Um-”
Failed step one.
“Go on”
“No, no, I interrupted you, go on”
Trying to win the politeness battle, huh?
“What are you hiding”
“Nothing really, just wanted to compliment your attire”
“Oh! Really? Thank you! It means a lot coming from you!”
“...From me?”
“What is it that you really want.”
“Ah, it’s just… You’re really admirable…”
“You always dress so elegantly and look so smart…”
“And, um, you probably didn’t notice but I was walking by when I saw you talk back to Mr. Adams…”
Oh, so she’s just another vapid sort of hippie girl. Should’ve seen it coming.
“I don’t know if Gene has told you anything about him but he’s super harsh when he criticizes my essays, so for you to win an argument is so...!”
...Huh.
“And that’s not even mentioning being a girl in such a male populated field! If I had to deal with 5 more Gene’s I’d go crazy, haha.”
“Is she trying to get something from me? Or perhaps she’s solidifying our alliance as well?
That was… unexpected.
She might not be her brother, but there must be something of that in there, right?
This could benefit me greatly.
After a long and exhausting overnight studying session with Eugene, he let out information about his… home situation.
Surely she must have a sense of responsibility in there, right?”
Practically orphaned siblings, a pair who had to grow too soon.
Creating a path that assure him to never go back to that life again.
Marigold can’t help but resent Nina after that story, is she really just going to use him for life?
The responsibility he carried in the form of a smaller, more scared, more vulnerable person.
“If you admire these qualities so much, why didn’t you follow the steps of your brother?”
(She ignores that Marigold also wants to use him, but they’re not family. It’s different.)
“Ahaha, that’s really not for me…”
“You’d rather be a teacher? In this economy? If you wanted something easy, you could’ve gone with hotel management or the like. I’m sure Eugene can get you a place there.”
“I’m afraid I can’t do that, Miss Marigold. It’s not where my soul calls to.”
“If she’s staying she’s going to work for it!”
“It’s where money calls to. That's why Eugene’s doing it. It’s why everyone does anything”
Ugh. Hippies.
Tumblr media
“But I’m afraid there’s a bigger mission I must fulfill.”
“Haha, that is something he would say.”
“Has Gene told you about our, um, raising? Our parents perhaps?”
“...What do you mean?”
“I’ve been told about your old home life, yes. My condolences”
“I actually retained a lot of memories from when I was young. I probably developed way faster just from pressure alone but, um”
“I remember feeling helpless”
Tumblr media
“I’m not blind, Miss Marigold, I can tell where Gene’s need for money comes from. I know of his sacrifices. I’ve witnessed them”
“When you are alone in a big house, you need to survive. But to survive, you need knowledge.”
“And every bit of knowledge made me feel… powerful”
“Gene is sensible, he needs something soft to fall on. He needs to feel safe, so he works towards that”
“When I learned to tie my shoes, I could run anywhere without falling. When I learned to use the washing machine, we no longer had to wash by hand, and goodness when I learned to read…!”
“I want to give them the tools for that”
“But I… I can’t live with myself knowing there are others like us. Small, scared beings who need to be stronger than they are.”
“I want to give people the means to fulfill themselves, whether it be something as simple as tying your shoes so you don’t fall to how to plaster your inner turmoil into poems”
Tumblr media
“Ah, don’t take me for a silly dreamer, though. I know it’s hard. Especially with the number of people being crammed into one classroom nowadays!”
“I have that responsibility. I want to give everyone what Gene did for me”
“But isn’t that… bad? You won’t get anywhere as a mere school teacher”
“But someone has to.”
“A little house, with a small garden. Quiet enough for me to sing while working.”
“I’ll get exactly where I want to be”
Happy…?
“And that’s all I need to be happy”
“Ah, that’s doesn’t mean I don’t want anything else! Um. I’d like to get married too, and visit Easter Island! Ah, and learning some more baking recipes…”
That’s… That’s wrong. That’s not how you become happy at all. She’ll have to deal with bills and sickness and lack of luxury and normal clothes and..!
That makes no sense. Nina makes no sense.
...And she’d be happy.
Does that mean that… she really isn’t hiding anything?
Is she just nice and polite for what? For sport? Out of fear?
“What about you? What are you studying business for?”
It seems Marigold misunderstood her. She really is just as hardworking as her brother.
That’s exactly what Marigold doesn’t want to think right now.
For money, yes? That’s normal. That’s what everyone does.
Except Nina. Except Uncle Jacinto.
“I… I’d like to form a business. A technology business”
Except people who smile freely. Except people who don’t have to act. Except people without hidden intentions.
“Oh, you like cool sci-fi stuff?”
Not really. She knows technology is advancing rapidly and she needs to get in it if she wants those stocks to grow so-
“It’s necessary. Everyone is doing it”
What’s the point of it?
Everyone is doing it. So it’s good. So it’s right.
“New technologies are always needed, you’re right”
Right?
“I think you’ll make it. You and Gene are way too much of a try-hard pair not to, hehe”
Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you
“Are you just, naturally poetic?”
“And while you two reach the stars, I’ll take care of the Earth”
“Ah, sorry, I just had class about that, hehe”
“Oh! Finally! We’re here! Ah, please stay outside!”
Nina is nice.
“What? Why? I have my student pass?”
Tumblr media
“Wait for me!”
“Alright look away!”
Nina is weird.
“What”
“Just for a second!”
She’s probably not gonna suddenly axe her in the back, so Marigold turns for 1 to 3 seconds
A strong gust of wind passes through.
Tumblr media
She sees…
“Happy birthday!”
“What…?”
Tumblr media
“I saw this in a store the other day and thought you’d like it!”
“…”
“I love it”
“Ah! Your hair stick thingy! I’ll go get it!”
Nina is exactly what her parents warned her about.
Nina is… dangerous.
The sweetest apple in the whole garden. The one thing that could ruin her. That could completely erase the paradise she is in.
The paradise she constructed. That her parents constructed.
And yet, a single blue Marigold hungers. She hungers for that sweetness.
The perfect garden.
She wants to take a bite from her.
Marigolds aren’t supposed to be blue.
“Did you see it, Nina?
What made her think that, in any of the ways Marigold presents herself, that’s she’d like this silly plushie?
And why was she right?
Did you see what’s inside me?
When you look into my eyes, can you see it?
Can you see me?
Can you tell me what’s in there?
Can you open me up and take it out?
But she won’t. She refuses to follow the steps of Eve. She’ll stay in paradise.
Can you let me out?”
There’s nothing to gain from leaving.
Tumblr media
There’s nothing else she needs.
But.
She’ll protect this little apple. It is not it’s fault that they’ve been chosen for such a task.
Such a beautiful, ethereal being. Twirling in the wind with laughter and warmth.
Free.
She hears her uncle’s laugh in the distance.
Surely a few nibbles can’t hurt, right?

The Popular Effect
(All characters are 18+)
Elliot Price was the kind of eighteen-year-old who made other nerds look cool. Buttoned-up shirt, tucked too tightly into khakis, a pen always clipped to his shirt pocket—even though he took notes on a laptop. He had straight A’s, no social life, and a permanent seat in the front row of every class.
Especially in Mrs. Davis’s Literature class.
Mrs. Davis was the kind of teacher students actually liked—strict but kind, fair but tough, with a way of making Shakespeare sound exciting and grammar seem like a tool of power. Elliot adored her. If he could've nominated her for sainthood, he would've.
The same couldn’t be said for Matt Carver.
Matt was the golden boy. Captain of the football team. Killer smile. Swagger in every step. And the worst part? He got away with everything. Teachers, girls, guys—everyone loved him. Everyone except Elliot.
It was fifth period on a Thursday. Elliot sat with his laptop open, ready to soak in every syllable of Mrs. Davis’s lecture on The Great Gatsby, when Matt slouched into class five minutes late, grinning like he owned the room.
“Nice of you to join us, Mr. Carver,” Mrs. Davis said, only slightly annoyed.
Matt flopped into his seat at the back and pulled a pen from someone else’s bag. “Wouldn’t miss a chance to hear you talk about how tragic rich people are.”
The class chuckled. Mrs. Davis rolled her eyes but continued. That was when Matt started really going off.
“You ever think about how boring this book is?” he said loud enough for everyone to hear. “I bet Gatsby was just another loser nerd like Elliot.”
The class burst out laughing.
Elliot turned bright red.
Mrs. Davis cleared her throat sharply. “That’s enough, Matt.”
But Matt wasn’t done. Leaning back, he smirked and said, “Yo, Mrs. Davis. Don’t ya wish you were a popular girl? Bet you were a nerd in school. Probably sat where Elliot’s sittin’, huh?”
A ripple of laughter ran through the class. Mrs. Davis’s mouth tightened, but she didn’t respond. Instead, she just told everyone to focus and carried on with the lesson.
Matt and his friends left early for football practice. Elliot watched him swagger out, slapping hands and tossing his usual charm around like confetti. But what Elliot didn’t see was the way Matt subtly placed a small, glittery pink bottle on Mrs. Davis’s desk.
It was Mia’s lip gloss. Mia was Matt’s girlfriend—head cheerleader, the queen bee of the school. Why her lip gloss was now on Mrs. Davis’s desk… no one noticed. No one except Matt. And maybe Mia.
After class, Elliot lingered for a moment, gathering his notes. Mrs. Davis stood at her desk, staring at the lip gloss.
She looked around the empty classroom, hesitating.
Then she uncapped it.
A sugary bubblegum scent filled the room as she dabbed a little on her lips.
And then—
Her breath hitched. Her eyes widened.
She staggered slightly, clutching the desk, her features shifting before Elliot’s stunned eyes. Her brown hair brightened into a platinum blonde, straightening into silky locks that bounced with every sudden head-tilt. Her glasses vanished. Her makeup became vibrant, lashes thick and fluttery.
Her business-casual clothes shimmered and transformed into a skintight, sparkly pink crop top and a cheer skirt with “CVHS” printed on it in rhinestones.
Mrs. Davis—the forty-something, wise, literary woman—was gone.
In her place stood an 18-year-old bombshell with a giggle that made Elliot’s stomach twist.
“Oh my gawd,” she squealed, flipping her hair. “Like, this is totes wild, y’know?”
Elliot stared, mouth open.
She looked down at herself and squealed again. “Ugh, finally! Being all, like, serious and teacher-y was sooo lame. I’m Lexi now. OMG, how adorbs is that?!”
“Mrs… Davis?” Elliot managed.
She rolled her eyes. “Ew, no! Like, who’s that even? I’m Lexi Summers, duh.” She popped her gum—where did that come from?—and winked. “Later, nerd-boy!”
And with that, Lexi strutted out of the classroom, hips swaying, texting on a hot-pink phone that hadn’t existed seconds earlier.
Elliot sat frozen in his seat, feeling the ground beneath his world begin to crack.
Tomorrow, everything would change.
Tumblr media
Elliot didn’t sleep.
How could he? The image of Mrs. Davis transforming into Lexi Summers played over and over in his mind, like some twisted magical TikTok filter that had hijacked his entire sense of reality.
But when he walked into school Friday morning, reality hit harder.
There she was.
In the middle of the courtyard, sitting cross-legged on a picnic table in her cheer skirt and bubblegum-pink crop top, surrounded by Matt, Mia, and the rest of the popular crew, was Lexi—giggling, flipping her platinum-blonde hair, twirling a rhinestone-covered pen between her fingers.
And the most messed-up part? No one seemed to remember Mrs. Davis at all. Not the teachers. Not the students. Not even the principal. Everyone acted like Lexi had always been there.
Elliot lingered behind a tree, stunned. He clutched his books to his chest like a shield. His world had flipped, and he was the only one who noticed.
Then Lexi spotted him.
“O.M.G.,” she gasped, hopping off the table with a sparkly bounce. “Elliot! You look so… same-y. That’s, like, a tragedy.”
She was in front of him before he could move, practically bouncing on her toes, eyes wide and bright like polished glass.
“W-what happened to you?” Elliot stammered. “You were… you were a teacher.”
Lexi tilted her head. “Ugh. Gag me. Don’t even say that. I was, like, so boring before. But now I’m me—Lexi Summers. Queen of vibes, duh.”
Matt swaggered up behind her, tossing an arm around her waist. “Told you, nerd. You saw the glow-up. Now it’s your turn.”
“I—I don’t want a glow-up,” Elliot said weakly.
“Oh, honey,” Lexi cooed, patting his cheek. “It’s not about what you want. It’s about what you could be.”
Mia twirled a blue bottle of glittery lip gloss between her fingers, smiling like a villain from a sugar-sweet fairy tale. “This isn’t just about making you hot. It’s about making you, like, relevant.”
Lexi turned to Elliot, eyes sparkling. “After school. Boys’ locker room. Don’t make us come get you.”
And then they were gone, strutting away in perfect sync.
Elliot should have run.
He should have taken the long way home, blocked the school on every map, and transferred.
But something deep in his chest—something weak, bitter, and curious—dragged him to the locker room.
It was empty.
Except for Lexi, Mia, and Matt—waiting by a glowing mirror propped up against the lockers, shimmering with pulses of neon blue and pink.
“This is the Mirror of Makeover,” Lexi said dramatically, like she was hosting a reality show. “And this—” she held up a glowing blue sports drink with glitter swirling inside “—is your invitation to not be a total loser anymore.”
Elliot backed away. “I don’t want this.”
Mia rolled her eyes. “Nobody wants kale either. But it’s good for you.”
Before he could bolt, Matt grabbed his arms, and Lexi slid the drink into his hands.
“Just one sip,” she whispered. “You’ll totes thank us.”
The bottle was warm in his hands. It shimmered. His fingers moved almost without permission.
He drank.
The liquid was cold and sweet and fizzy—and then it burned.
Not in his mouth.
Everywhere.
His knees buckled as the mirror’s glow flared, pulling him forward. He stumbled into the reflection—and everything shattered.
His shoes melted into spotless white high-tops with gold accents. His khakis dissolved into tailored, ripped jeans. His polo shirt vanished, replaced by a fitted designer hoodie zipped halfway down to show a sculpted chest that hadn’t existed a second ago.
His skin cleared—blemishes smoothing out into a golden tan. His frame grew broader, more athletic, like someone carved out of gym selfies and protein powder. His wiry arms thickened with lean muscle. His posture straightened.
He saw his reflection—and it smiled back differently.
Then came the hair: shaggy brown locks turned sleek, stylish, effortlessly tousled like he'd just stepped out of a modeling shoot. His glasses vanished. His jaw sharpened. Cheekbones lifted.
And then his thoughts shifted.
Worry? Gone.
Self-doubt? Deleted.
He wasn’t nervous. He was confident. No—cocky.
He smirked. “Damn, I look good.”
Lexi clapped her hands. “Yesss! You’re, like, SO ready.”
Mia bit her lip. “Okay, he’s hot. What’s the name?”
“Not Elliot,” Matt said. “Too try-hard.”
Lexi giggled. “He’s totally an Ethan. Like, varsity vibes, bad boy energy, but still gives killer hugs.”
“Ethan,” the boy in the mirror repeated. He rolled the name around on his tongue. “Yeah. I’m Ethan now.”
The last piece fell into place—his memories of being Elliot faded like a dream. The humiliation, the awkwardness, the loneliness. All gone.
He turned from the mirror, grinning wide. “Let’s show this school what I’m made of.”
Lexi bounced over and wrapped her arms around him. “We’re gonna slay, babe.”
Ethan leaned down and kissed her—confident, bold, magnetic. Matt and Mia whooped and high-fived.
They left the locker room like royalty.
And behind them, in the flickering mirror, a lonely reflection of Elliot Price faded to nothing.
Tumblr media
Monday morning arrived, and Crystal Valley High didn’t know what hit it.
The halls, once filled with the usual chaos of half-asleep students and boring announcements, now pulsed with something electric. Something bold. Something beautiful.
It wasn’t just the outfits, or the strut, or the perfect couple selfies taken at their lockers. It was the energy—the way Ethan and Lexi owned every step, every glance, every whisper behind their backs.
They were more than students now.
They were legends.
Lexi was perched on her glitter-covered throne—also known as the lunch table—legs crossed, sipping a matcha she absolutely did not pay for. Her blonde hair caught the light like a spotlight, and her laugh echoed across the courtyard like a pop song.
Ethan leaned against the table beside her, toned arms folded, exuding lazy confidence. He’d already been asked to try out for the football team—twice—even though he hadn’t touched a football in his life. Didn’t matter. He looked the part. He was the part.
“You see the way Coach tripped over himself trying to talk to you?” Lexi said, smirking up at him.
“Poor guy,” Ethan said, shrugging. “Can’t blame him. I’d trip over me too.”
She giggled, twirling her scrunchie around her finger. “Ugh, you’re like, perfect. Honestly, how were you ever a nerd?”
Ethan leaned in close. “Don’t remember. Don’t care.”
He meant it. The name Elliot Price was like an outdated username—forgettable, awkward, completely deleted. Who needed flashcards and extra credit when you had a face that turned heads and a girlfriend like Lexi?
Across the courtyard, people watched. They whispered. They admired.
Even Matt and Mia—once the top of the food chain—now orbited around Ethan and Lexi like backup dancers. And they were fine with it. Everyone was.
Because Lexi didn’t just command attention. She fed on it. And Ethan? He thrived on it.
By Wednesday, Lexi had completely taken over the cheer squad. The girls practically worshipped her. She introduced a new “mandatory sparkle quota,” and no one dared question it.
Ethan? He casually accepted the captain’s jacket of the football team after the actual captain “mysteriously” got a sprained ankle. He didn’t ask questions. He just looked good in the jacket.
During lunch, Lexi redesigned the social layout of the quad. Literally.
“We’re moving the art kids over there, the drama dweebs get that patch of shade, and our table needs a charging station and more sun.”
And it happened. Just like that.
No one argued. No one even tried.
They ruled with a smile, a wink, and a perfectly timed eye-roll. They didn’t need to be cruel—though they could be. Their power came from being so obviously better.
One afternoon, as the sun bathed the school in a golden haze, Lexi lay back on the cheer mat during practice, her pom-poms abandoned beside her.
Ethan walked up, tossing a Gatorade at her. “Thirsty?”
“Only for attention,” she purred.
They laughed.
“You ever miss being a teacher?” Ethan asked lazily, not because he cared—just curious.
Lexi rolled her eyes so hard they practically did a cartwheel. “Ew. No. I was, like, so repressed. Now I’m hot, happy, and I get to say ‘literally’ as often as I want.”
“Same,” Ethan said, stretching. “I used to freak out about homework. Now? I just get people to do it for me.”
Lexi sat up and crawled onto his lap, draping her arms around his neck. “We’re, like, the main characters, babe.”
“Damn right we are.”
They kissed, surrounded by the cheers of their squad, the stares of jealous classmates, and the soft buzz of their names whispered in awe.
No guilt.
No second thoughts.
Just glitter, glory, and total domination.
