The evening light entered through the window of the small bathroom in Kurapika's cabin like a gentle caress, dyeing the small bathroom a cozy orange.

The sunlight hit Kurapika's face softly: his hair shone softly; the earrings shone like two beautiful rubies; his hazel eyes almost looked bright orange when the light of the late sun hit his iris from the side; and the shadow of a barely grown beard on his face: around his mouth, his chin, and the lower part of his cheeks, as if gently outlining his jaw. It was not abundant, but it was decent.

Kurapika's fingers ran his barely grown beard softly, while he looked curiously at himself in the bathroom mirror.

After a few moments he turned to look at her, a soft smile drawn on his face "Do you still want to see me with a beard, Senritsu? You still have time to ask me to shave it off before I transform into another person" A soft giggle escaped from his lips

She reached up, gently running a short finger over the others cheek over the little shade of a beard on the lower part of his cheek so carefully as if he was made of fragile crystalglass. Eventually the woman just chuckled, looking tot he side to the rectangle of orange light drawn on the wall opposite of the window like the light had burned into the wall. The laughter of the woman was almost shy and the flustered redness on her cheeks might was just dyed on her skin by the eveninglight. "Look at that, you even look the most handsome with a beard. ", the woman shaked her head, amused over her own very flustered reaction. Really, she thought more amused than scolding: I am over a decade past my schoolgirl-years, I should not blush like one. Her chuckle was as melodic as a song. Eventually her small hand just wandered up, softly brushing Kurapikas bangs out of his face: "By all means, you are beautiful before transformation into a stranger or after. Thank you for mhmmmmm dolcissimo " the gentle chuckle echoed off the small bathrooms walls in a sweet singsang: "-indulging my curiosity. But if that beard bothers you-" The woman winked up to Kurapika in all good humor:- she had heard that her request had mad his heartmelody change for a moment when she had first asked him to grow that beard: a chunky, hard melody that had sounded hard like stone. A melody born from the thoughts of feeling inadequate. Senritsu did not wanted him to sound this way. She did not wanted him to think he was in any way inadequate in her eyes. She did not wanted him to think any of that so her smile was as gentle as it as rueful: "-do you want me to help you to shave it off before I wake up next to a stranger in a few days, mhmmmmm? Would be a shame if you would start to feel not like yourself, that sure would be a melody I would not like to listen to." [ @skarletchains ]

Awesome as the FE2 novel illustrations are, I do wonder if the artist had something about mustaches, ha! (Rudolf, Mycen and I think, Nomah are cleanshaved in the illustrations.)

I didn't even think to notice! What makes this an even bigger laugh is, as you will see in Chapter 1-2 in a few weeks, the author describes Mycen's physical appearance and explicitly points out that he has a mustache! So it's not like the author and illustrator didn't get proper reference material for the characters they were drawing / writing.

I think this is pretty common knowledge. but facial hair is extremely rare in modern Japan, so it's equally plausible that the illustrator either doesn't like it, or just completely forgot to draw it.

I can only think of one Japanese person I ever met with facial hair in 5 years in Japan, he had a goatee. He was probably at least in his 30s, because I taught his oldest kid in 5th and 6th grade.

I did hear once of an English teacher being asked to shave his facial hair, but that is quite rare. The vast majority of Japanese people know that different countries / cultures do things differently, and let you do you.

Promptly the woman leaned back, her eyes as big as plates and a confused smile curling around her dark lips. Like a curious bird she tilted her head to the side- blinking one time, two times, three times. "I-", Senritsu started and looked at Kurapika for a few very long seconds: his beautiful formed mouth, his small nose, the elegant form of his eyes, his long dark eyelashes, his clean skin. He was handsome, indeed. Beautiful even. She knew he was, she had told him he was, she always made sure he knew that she thought he was very handsome. "I am not gonna lie, I find beards very nice to look at but you already have a very nice to look at face-", Senritsu started with a chuckle- she did found Kurapikas very beautiful to look at. But she still liked to look at beards. She liked to look up to Basho, because of his beard. It remainded her of her fathers face from when she was a child looking up to him: "-I did not thought, you could grow a beard-" She stopped blinking slowly again, once again, once again and another time. Her short fingers tapped against the mans very smooth, cleanshaved cheek restlessly while there were clearly thoughts turning, turning, turning in her head. A second too late she noticed what she was doing and started to laugh melodically, her dark eyes wandering to the side to not look at the other as if she was a flustered schoolgirl while a soft pink dyed the tip of her ears: "Now, you really got me thinking how you would look with a beard." Senritsu just shaked her head, honestly amused over her own reaction. Her hair rustled like red autumnleafs when she leaned forward, humming a gentle peck against his cleanshaved cheek: "Mhmmmmmm, When we are the next time away for a few days, would you grow a beard? You kind of awakened a Hunters curiosity there. I want to see how you would look like." Her chuckle tickled against his cheek like a loving caress: " Than you can just shave it off again, when we come back."

The little pout on Kurapikas face made Senritsu let go of a loud, uncontrolable laughter and hastily she turned her head to the hide to not sputter spit on him. There was still a mischievous shimmer in her dark eyes when she eventually turned back and tapped her fingers against the mans cheek gently: "Than we should mentally jump straight to december, mhmmm?" She tilted her head to the side, winking up at him in all good humor as her small hand caressed Kurapikas cheek, searching for any kind of stubble: "Or join No-shave-november instead of no-nut-november."
