any writing advice you can bestow upon us? on characters, backstory, dialogue and descriptions? anything that worked for you and what didn't in your writing journey and really just anything you want to share with novice writers?

Aww, thank you so much Nonny! I don't have much by way of writing advice, apart from: a) write A LOT. the one thing that's going to actively make you a better writer is more stories. And that can mean experimenting with your prep style, figuring out what inspires you, avoiding (literary) situations that don't leave you buzzing/excited. And b) have patience. Writing is something that takes a long time. Writing well- to the point where the reader feels something like what you meant for them to feel at that point- takes even longer. Have patience for yourself and your work. Be kind to yourself, too, and enjoy the process.
