AatW stands for Arniela and the World, its a project I've been formulating for some time now with my friend about my and his characters. The main character is Arniela Estrella, a snail cobra thing.

I had written a first draft for the first chapter of a novel i planned on releasing chapter by chapter onto my neocities website, the idea was that I could work on a novel easily without worrying about the fact I can't use my tablet. But I realize I'm losing steam realizing just how rusty my literary writing skills are. I also worry that my audience wouldnt care to read my writing as they either know me as an illustrator or an animator.

I originally wanted this to be a webcomic, but would’ve preffered it to be an animated series. I've also considered hybrid methods of telling this story, but am worried of losing an audience with having to make readers switch to different artistic mediums.

So, what would you prefer?

I imagine id draw and write stories with the characters regardless of how the main story is drawn, but I might have those be released as rewards for helping me fund my story.

Um, so here is part four everyone, because I need to be writing something. I’ll let you know that some of these take place before Tory and her brother had moved into the Lawrusso household. [Those will be italics!!] If you have suggestions for headcanons for anyone, a couple, a different fandom, etc let me know so I could work on that for ya 👨‍🍳

Sam and Miguel often don’t talk about Tory due to him still thinking that she hates her.

Sam has spoken to Johnny that her hatred over Tory was childish and decided to let go of it.

(only kind of wished Daniel did the same thing instead of letting it linger 30+ years. In some way, I’d like to think that Daniel always thought of Johnny over those years.)

To help with the grief, Sam gave Tory and Brandon a build-a-bear with a recorded message from their mother.

Tory tends to hang around Sam’s room, because in some way it reminds her of her mother, Brandon also.

Sam has always thought about giving Tory and Robby a room inside the house so they wouldn’t have to live in the apartments.

Amanda would drop by to Tory’s apartment to see if she ever needed anything like toiletries, groceries, medications, etc.

Anthony gave Brandon one of his older tablets before Daniel decided to buy both him and Tory their own devices.

(their “devices” being new phones and such so they could in contact with everyone.)

Sam and Tory’s style went from two separate ones to one shared one ranging what seems like what one would wear versus the other.

Every time Tory seems to be getting worse, Johnny takes her out on the mat or rage room where she can let all those frustrations out, though he’s still unsure where to take Brandon..

For her birthday one year, Sam had gifted Tory a coloring book along with a sketchbook and pencils, since she heard that she enjoys coloring / drawing things.

For her status at the dojo, Daniel had created a new type of “role” for Tory and claimed that she could be a fill-in instead full-time student at Miyagi-Do.

(this is a role that I made as I do not know if this is an actual thing in martial arts, but basically the fill-in student can have its own dojo. In Tory’s case, that means she can still be Cobra Kai if that’s what she’s wanting to do and the same with Robby.)

Their styles reflected through their academics:

Miguel, Robby, Sam, and Tory definitely have study sessions in Sam’s room.

Everyone else looks for Sam to give an answer, since she’s the only one besides Amanda to get a college level academically.

(Anthony following suit once he gets into high school as well.)

Kenny was surprised to see that everyone was civilized with each other however, he wasn’t surprised to see that they were rowdy.

Everyone eats stuff other people’s plates or drink the rest of their drink if they cannot finish their food / drink.

Eventually Sam and Tory started to sound the same so they decided to distance themselves from one another to quote, “get their voices back to normal.”

All the boys collectively hide away in the basement and claim that the girls need a “special pass” to allow themselves in.

Brandon has a hiding space in the theater room.

Johnny drunkenly bought a soda dispenser so they placed it in the theater room.

Tory and Johnny made a secret language so they can communicate with each other similarly to what Daniel and Robby has with morse code.

They all exchange Valentine’s day gifts with each other and definitely laughed at each other the first year they done it, because it was a surprise to everyone now it’s a tradition, lol.

Kyler is for sure a heated conversation in that house to put that lightly…

(Kenny still doesn’t get the hate on him UNTIL Anthony drops all their problems so now he’s like, “Wow, he’s a piece of shit ,” and they’re all like, “We’ve been telling you that”)

Both Anthony and Johnny say tum tum and tummy instead of stomach.

Robby and Sam get the most stomach aches.

(Robby because he’s constipated (poor him tbh) and Sam gets them on her period, since food doesn’t settle too well when she’s on it.)

Sometimes they all nap together after practice at first they thought it was too gross now they just do it whenever without a second thought.

That’s all I can think of for this moment for part four so there might be a part five in the future…

The Workaround- Moratoria Development Journal #2

I’ve been extremely busy with school and my internship recently, and since both those locations are in a different city, that means I’ve been driving an hour and a half there and back at least three times a week. Which is a horrible way to spend the few precious waking hours I have in the day, but oh, well. Nothing I can do but bear it and pray that next year’s internship is closer to my house. I had an interview with one that went very well, and I visit their building next week for a follow-up. Please, please God, please, I don’t want to keep having to wake up at five in the morning…

On the bright side, since I’ve spent so much time sitting in traffic, I’ve had a lot of time to think about future drawings, specifically in the Moratoria Alphabet series, but unfortunately they’ve been put on the back burner for now because my tablet is broken and I have no money. My hope is that I’ll be able to buy a new one sometime this summer, but until then, updates are going to be a bit slower.

Anyway, here’s a sketch of a possible future drawing in the series!

I’m thinking this one would be “R is for Retrospect,” or something similar. You can’t tell from the drawing, but the idea is that Enrique on the right would be cut off on that vertical line, and the colors would be smudged across the left side of the image like the broken screen of an old monitor, with the sketch of young Enrique and his aunt messily drawn on top of it. I’m not sure if this is actually what I’m going to go with, but it’s an idea!

Although my tablet is broken, I’ve still been trying to find workarounds to keep drawing. I’ve been doing stuff with just my finger on my laptop trackpad, which has been an interesting experiment but unfortunately far, far too unsustainable for me to want to do it any more than I have to. So here’s a little drawing of Miriam that served as an experiment.

I like how it turned out! I’m happy with it. Especially her hands. Usually when drawing hands, I start by taking pictures of my own hands in whatever pose they need to be in, and then I insert that photo into the Clip Studio file and trace over it. I remember when I first started taking art seriously this kind of thing was very frowned upon, but now it seems to be more of an accepted practice as long as the artist has permission to trace the photo. I don’t personally see a problem with it, because they’re my own pictures taken by me of my own hands, and hey, photography is an art form too, right?

There are so many little details in this design for Miriam that I had so much fun including. One advantage of a messier, looser rendering style like this is that I don’t have to be as precise when adding all the smaller lines and shapes! I do wish I had the opportunity to draw more of her tattoos, but since she dresses more modest and most of them are on her back, they aren’t visible in everyday life except for the one.

Technically her pose was taken from Orthodox iconography, not Catholic. But shhhhh.

I’ve been listening to lots of new music on my long drives. Currently on repeat are “Perfect Celebrity” from Lady Gaga’s new album, which I first saw in a Twitter edit using footage from the movie The Substance, and “One Day Robots Will Cry” by Cobra Starship, a song which I only began to like after listening to it about ten times. Side note, I hate how Spotify always recommends me a “Punk Mix” every day and then when I open it it’s just Cobra Starship and Fall Out Boy. Neither of them are punk! And besides, I only like one or two Cobra Starship songs! Please don’t build a playlist for me around that…

Here’s hoping that the next few months will be full of artistic progress, even if I do have to brave the spring without my tablet!

When I See You Again, Chapters 8-9

As a child, Judai ran away from home before his memories were ever wiped and reunited with Yubel in Professor Cobra’s care. He promised to never let anything separate them again, and spent his teen years in America as Cobra’s second son.

Now in his final year of school, Judai returns to Japan to visit Duel Academia as the West campus’s champion. He’s got plans to have a good time and help his father make a statement at the central campus with the Disclosure Duel system, but he doesn’t know that his spirit partner, still corrupted by the Light of Destruction, has plans of their own - and that several other people’s agendas involve him and Yubel, too.

The two partners must let go of old illusions before they can look at each other with clear eyes and meet on the same page.

Chapters 8-9: Judai spirals as the threats to him and his partner become clearer.

"See, I've done whatever I could to look into that Rainbow Dragon," Giese taunts. "Don't believe me? Then, why don't I tell you where you'll find Rainbow Dragon's stone tablet? It's where the rainbow ends – at the Valley of the World." Giese turns his eyes to Judai again. "And you. Judai Yuki. I think after all this time…everyone's been after the wrong person. Tell me, kid, how long have you been able to see spirits?" "Why should I tell you?" Judai bites out. "See, I've been researching you with the professor. Your records in America are locked up tight. But in Japan there's still a trail…"
