At the time, going to the shops with Feiyun had sounded like a really fun idea. Ryker itched at the idea to finally get off base, now that he’d been properly cleared from taking it easy off his ankle.

The bus ride was… fine. A bit crowded and bumpy at times, but it was forgivable. It was easy to ignore, with Feiyun talking. It was nice, Ryker barely got to hear Feiyun talk this much. It meant he didn’t have to, and he could just let the consistent static in his brain be quiet.

When they finally got to the shops, Ryker felt a very sudden sense of regret about walking into the public. He was a very reserved man who valued his personal space and lonesome time. Being in the public made everything… odd. He didn’t have a good descriptor for it. Ryker could hear Feiyun asking him about something, and only realized she was actually talking to him when she jabbed him in the side.

“Agh- wh, huh?” He flinched, rubbing his side and looking at her. “Sorry, I… wasn’t paying attention.”
