The pivot from Certain Corners to kashmir and indo-pak from gaza and i/p is frankly hilarious like. It is somehow coming across as extremely racist to graft the same narrative of colonial power/noble savage onto every world conflict over and over again. And its more than a little insulting to the hindu victims of islamic terror, the muslim victims of islamic terror and victims from all backgrounds of state terror, to deny the vast and complex historical and religious contexts of yet another contested region that has been denied the right to this complexity over and over again in its long existence!
#things i would LOVE to talk about: dismantling the BJP and disempowering the RSS and how to defeat Modi#and how to ensure kashmir upholds its special status in the region#what these guys want to argue about: mughal india was actually the truest nation in the region and it was colonial behavior for checks notes#indians to overthrow the raj and consolidate power???????????

They regularly ask me to let them in the other's enclosure so they can cuddle. When Sakura thought I was pestering her sister she put herself between me and her; incredibly brave of her as she is still afraid of human hands (but much better than she use to be.)

When Sakura gets frightened she'll run to her sister and often hide her head under her.

Both enjoy exploring and doing their enrichment activities together. Seeing this on a daily basis, and the bond these little ones have with each other (and me) I think more research needs to be done regarding the current belief Hognose snakes are incapable of emotion or bonding, and are completely solitary. While both go to their individual dens after socializing, both seek each other out and cuddle together. (They are only allowed together while I'm there watching as sometimes snakes will eat each other, and they seem to enjoy having their own home space when it isn't play/cuddle time.) Sakura benefits so much being with her sister, just being near her she's exponentially braver and far less jumpy, and will watch her sister with great interest learning from her.
#snake#snakes#snake social lives#hognose#pets#I genuinely think our current understanding of them is wrong just like it is with the leopard gecko#leos have been believed to be solitary for ages#only recently was it understood they live in COLONIES#Just because a critter likes to have their own little house doesn't mean they don't have friends or enjoy socialization#I also need to make a post about petting#as I have a theory with evidence that supports some snakes enjoy petting and it being a natural behavior within some of their societies

The batfam fandom: Alfred is a saint.
Me: He was a soldier in the imperialist british army, how good can he be?
#batfam#alfred pennyworth#dc comics#my ramblings#of course I have more criticism based on his behavior displayed in Batman's medias#but still Alfred is old enough that he was a soldier during the Imperialist time of the British so yikes#they only ever talks about WWII because it looks better than fighting against Irish independence or rebels in colonies#Which the UK did during this time period#or invading Iran which happened in 1941

Does Minecraft incentivize killing golems though?
#sorry. fully besides the actual point of the post that i was reading.#but ive heard this one a couple of times now and im not sure its true?#like they're strong as fuck and iron is one of the most common resources in the game#by the time you'd be able to kill one easily you really have no need of. what is it. two i think? two smelted bars#unless theyve made a significant change since i last played which i think was only a few months ago#i just dont see it.#i kinda think that killing golems for iron is a common behavior only with a certain subset of players who Make Content#and can't actually be extrapolated out into information about how other people play or are meant to play#(for the record im not being like. over defensive of minecraft#i dont care and i agree with everything else fhat the post says which is why im vagueing#minecraft and games like it have an inherent issue as like colonialism vibes go + mojang really really should have#changed the name of this particular mob by now + strong argument to be made for reworking the villager design#i just think this particular criticism might be off base and doesn't hold true when you're looking at the Actual Game#forgot to close my parentheses hold on#)

The shape of the bee larvae capped cell determines their gender role
The shape of the honey bee larvae 🐝 cell capping, determines their gender and role in the hive. Cell capping is a unique process that worker bees use to produce drone bees, worker bees, and a new queen for the hive.

the hard to swallow pill for a certain corner of the internet is that this thing of gen x, y, z whatever is extremely americanized and not at all accurate to most people's experiences growing up, I know the concept of generations is mostly created to pin point times in society, the behavior of a group and what movements were created etc etc, but in what moment did we start making this thing so niche and as if it was defining of people's personalities? putting everyone in this homogenous groups with no regards to the historical, social or economic influence over them? and yet god forbid someone tell this to tiktok influencers whose entire public is built on categorizing gen z as this bimbos, gets everything in a silver plate, lazy generation that never takes anything serious haha we're so funny, literally the only thing we all can agree with is: we're the generation with no prospects, we're fucked and we know it and still there could be some disagreement in that
#like generations are used to predict change and analyze behavior of groups of people every 15 years or so but is not like your zodiac#and honestly? social-economics differences always existed is not something that started happening during gen y; z or alpha#but I do believe due to the fact that what defines these generations are in which point of technology and globalization people were born in#you can clearly see the disparity created by modern day capitalism and the millennial influence of colonialism that still lingers#oh and definitely the imperialistic behavior of a certain country that shall remain nameless but that has used its power to manipulate#the political scene in every country possible by helping with cups and/or funding extremists groups#rambles...

it's genuinely so fun to see so many people come to the conclusion that Palestine has been oppressed for exactly 75 years
and by fun I mean fucking terrifying what is wrong with people
#oh wow 75 whole years#such a brave movement to restore the land to the indigenous inhabitants who were definitely in charge 75 years ago#tumblr stop huffing actual propaganda challenge#there are a lot of nuances and complexities in the Israel/Palestine conflict but a second British colony is not the answer#typical American behavior I guess#Jumblr#politics#I ramble

So like, imagine this. It's the first big family reunion after COVID restrictions let up, your family took a few years to all get vaccinated, ect. Your kid is 6, so they weren't old enough to take to the last one, this is the first time they're meeting some of these more distant relatives. So you introduce them to Uncle Mike, and you say "This is Uncle Mike. He thinks you're so small and delicious, and that it'd be so easy to pick you up and throw you at the nearest wall and break all your bones." If that 6 year old then power kicks uncle Mike in the nuts and runs away screaming, whose fault is that?
So this post is about Doctor Who. The patron unknowable Eldritch entity of your country has just spent an entire afternoon telling you that the universe is full of things that are stronger and bigger than you, and a lot of them will happily blenderize your planet for a bit of rocket fuel, or eat all of you for a big Sunday brunch. And he's letting that ship full of slavers happily fly away to tell the entire galaxy about your tiny planet's existence. You are an animal, your empathy and reason only extends to the boundaries of what you can understand, and the Doctor has just told you that the vast majority of the galaxy sees you as prey. Me, personally? I'm with Harriet, I wouldn't stand a chance in that situation, I'd 100% take that shot.
All I'm saying is that if the Doctor wanted to foster empathy, they probably shouldn't have started with enthusiastically explaining how cleverly the aliens were going to coerce them into slavery, especially not to a woman who grew up in Britain as it rebuilt itself from the blitz in a post-nazi Europe
#messages from knave#doctor who#i think ten is really the one who fumbled the bag here#Harriet was just an animal. a british one at that#she's right! humans JUST GOT HERE#also harriet was a baby boomer you know you need to explain things to them like 4 or 5 times#also can't discount the fact that she grew up in the aftermath of the (at the time) latest large scale empirical conquest#her context for behavior is european colonial power#so when you tell her that there's Empires Out There what do you think she'll do like logically#also her context for how refugees are treated is again 90s Britain post-thatcher policies#so she's also not expecting any kindness to come floating back to them#like i GET the point of the episode is that reacting with war level violence against perceived threats is a bad behavior#but I don't think the doctor was very empathetic in that situation either. they're judging 90s humanity against their breadth of experience#when they've been alive for longer than humans have had guns#i don't even judge them for tanking her career because she clearly can't handle the influx of insane knowledge she's just learned#but still. their reaction has always kind of rubbed me the wrong way because I can't fathom how they expected anything different#she's responcible for a lot of people! she feels responcible for the whole planet in that moment! what did you really expect her to do!

@fatedmuses : we're in this together . no one gets left behind . (Kiki @ Vex?)
It's a lovely sentiment, if not an adorably naive one. She's come to expect such notions from Keyleth, the unending font of positivity for Vox Machina. However, unlike when Vex'ahlia herself made such remarks, she has the distinct impression that the Ashari believes it.
No one gets left behind.
"You've a plan, then?" Fingers lift to pinch at the bridge of her nose, dark eyes shutting as she tries to block out the sunshine that Keyleth practically radiates. They were an odd match, but... their hearts are not so different. So desperate to protect those they cared about.
prompts for the one who questions everything
#❪ ⠀ ✦ ⠀ ─── ⠀ fatedmuses / keyleth of the air ashari ⠀﹕ ⠀the strength of a colony is stronger than the individual of one great diseased foot#❪ ⠀ ✦ ⠀ ─── ⠀ vex'ahlia / ic ⠀﹕ ⠀swift of bow and keen of mind. ⠀ ❫#/ vex both loves and is annoyed by kiki.#/ true sister behavior.

can we get an update on your apocalypse cats story?! (no pressure though)
Got a few things! Been slowly chipping at it:
Keeping my original pitched social hierarchy: Queen -> Queen’s Court (which has a handful of roles within it that also have their own social structure) + Queen’s direct Offspring (typically the heirs to the throne; highly targeted for assassinations by other court members) -> Workers (temporary name, i gotta think of something better. also consist of their own social hierarchy, those that work with the queen and court often get better treatment and stature than those who don’t).
Kitten and male cat behavior. I want to include kit killing in this, the Yarmouth clowder is a very tense place within the court. It’s not an instinctual thing, it’s done discretely and with thought.
The coastal territory would lead to VERY gloomy and rainy weather, their home base is probably within one of the abandoned buildings.
Some of the wildlife would be mutated, for funsies
Currently I’ve got a few characters in mind of wanting to center the story around, I need to rotate them a bit to get a better hold on their stories before I decide on anything.
But the names though, I’m at war with myself. Recently rewatched a bit of Gargoyles and love the idea of the cats being named after streets. Lovitt, Gardner. The issue is the cats can’t read, and even if they begin to understand that the symbols have meanings, there’s absolutely no way they’d be able to discern the sounds without being taught….which is impossible. The better way would be to go this means X in their conlang but it translates to something in English such as “Hook” or “Brick”, useful things that the cats would actually name themselves.
But come on…a cat name Argyle I’m clawing at the door
#apocalypse meow#deer rambles#thank you for asking!#lately I’ve just been trying to find good colony dynamic breakdowns?#because i want to keep the clowders dynamics based on some preexisting behavior
