🌼 Daffodils and Leeks: The national emblems, the daffodil and the leek, take center stage in today's celebrations. The bright yellow daffodils bloom as a symbol of renewal and the coming of spring, while the humble leek, worn traditionally by the Welsh, is a nod to the vegetable St. David is said to have recommended to his soldiers in battle.

There’s something magical about a small-town Fourth of July celebration. It’s that perfect mix of family, fun, and summer warmth that you just can’t find anywhere else. This year, I set up my camera and tripod out in the baseball field’s outfield to capture the show. As the sun dipped below the horizon, a warm breeze drifted through the stands, carrying the sounds of kids laughing and playing kickball across the diamond. It felt like a scene straight out of The Sandlot — bleachers silhouetted against a glowing sky, families stretched out on blankets, and kids running free before the first spark lit up the night. When darkness finally settled in, a hush swept over the crowd. All eyes turned upward, waiting for that first shimmering burst. And then — the sky erupted in color and crackling energy, lighting up the summer night. Each boom echoed across the field, and the breeze left soft trails of drifting smoke, which you can see dancing through some of these photos. For me, photographing fireworks is more than capturing light — it’s about freezing a feeling. It’s the shared awe, the joy of community, and those fleeting moments when everyone is still, eyes wide with wonder. From the first bright spark to the final grand finale, each frame holds a piece of that magic. Below are a few of my favorite images from this unforgettable night. I hope they take you right back to that warm July evening, standing under the stars with family and friends, waiting for the sky to come alive.
