Every portrait has a story… juliette Binoche. I suddenly saw her appear on the red carpet….I had a carlzeisstessar300mmf/4 on one of my 3 contax rts cameras. I used to shoot it with fast film 400 or 800-1600 and of course with an open aperture. However, in terms of the composition of the frame, the difficulty was always (and remains) great. It has to do with what I want to achieve and why. And if her portrait was to be published in a magazine, I had to have a so-called negative blank space, so that, graphically, there could be letters… it was a continuous exercise of thought and vision. With Juliette, I decided in the time I had, to leave a little more blank space on the left and at the same time to capture this characteristic smile of hers. With Nikole, who I was at the Lido in Venice. I boldly used a close-up portrait, with a Pentax Z-5P and the pentax600mmf/4 lens with slow film, an ektachrome100. In this shot, due to the weight of the lens, the creative margins were limited. Nevertheless, I tried to capture an interesting expression of hers. As for Robert de Niro, he appeared at the premiere of Sergio Leone's iconic work ''Once upon a time in America''. Waiting for him at the exit of the Palais des Festivals, I see him slowly walking past me with his head bowed. I let him pass and before he left my frame I took the shot, un portrait decadre'. SLRs of a decade (1971 – 1981)

Perhaps the most important SLRs of a decade, from the Canon F-1 and Nikon F2 to the New F-1. In between, in the mid-1970s, the Contax RTS and Yashica's FR series. Not shown in the graphic: The transitional Yashica FX-1, Yashica’s first camera with the new bayonet mount (1975), and the quartz-controlled Yashica FX-D (1980).

Selling almost 100,000 units, the RTS was a decent success for Contax/Yashica, but they never caught up with Canon or Nikon. By 1974, FD-compatible lenses had already been available for a decade, the Nikon F mount since 1959. The mass market operated on a completely different scale. For example, 5.7 million units of the popular Canon AE-1 were produced. The number of Yashica FR cameras manufactured is not documented.
