I mostly keep this shit in my head and I can make a huge list of it but dawg most of mine involves my silly interpretations- plus I seen people

It’s kinda a mess to think about but I’ll go to my personal favorites

X being chunky always gives me some feels for me, like he would fucking rock it. He’s actually more tanky then Zero while he’s sorta at times a glass canon (Mf Died like multiple times and X died Once). It derives from the idea of why he chose a thicker body, because the area of his stomach was pierced by Sigma like twice. So basically it gives him extra defense. Despite the it he’s just a Flexible as ever but a bit more slower.

Meaning that his “Stomach” area is incredibly sensitive and he will smack you on instinct if you touch it. He suffers phantom pains occasionally. It's a massive bitch but he got used to it.

X has a soft spot for children okay, since he’s very approachable to children, he would even let them draw on his armor. Babies are a definite weakness of his their tiny hands will make him cry so hard

So it would make sense that he would be a parent but he would rather settle down to start a Family in peace times and after he himself healed and rested.

Zero is kinda a low key creature, in the sense that he actually has retractable claws and can run on fours but only for extremely rare occasions. That's because he’s not only the ultimate war but also the ultimate predator. Aka he’s fucking lion coded

One of the reasons why X and Zero are always different compared to other Androids and shit is because they were made from Alien tech/Energy stuff. You can’t fucking tell that Dr Light didn’t used the material that Duo left to include that while making X right? And Zero…We all know Wily was on some crack (I’m always a believer that He used evil energy to create Roboenza and what could eventually become the Maverick Virus). And no one knew about the whole fiasco with Duo aside from Megaman and the others. So it makes sense that Light and wily (Possible Cossack knew something about it) Used it for their final creations.

Marty (From the MMX manga that I’m absolutely so normal about) has so much knowledge of Marine life and the ocean, Rescue worker regulations and information is insane. How the flying shit did a marine rescue worker end up as an infamous Pirate Queen is a mystery to anyone.

She's also tall and muscular and is absolutely more “Beast-like” (Having scales, fangs and retractable webbed claws) to give off a more intimidating impression to keep folks away from her and her crew.

Speaking of her Crew they are all composed of other marine Rescue types, a couple Human Cyborgs (and a few non cyborgs) and a few Repliforce defectors. (A small fun fact in my silly XxMarty Valentine manatee oneshot, Marty brought up Gale Albatross who’s actually a former Repliforce soldier that defected as soon as they declared independence not wanting to be apart of it but is untrusting towards the hunters).

She may not look like but she genuinely cares for everyone in her crew and would do anything to protect them. She also courted her hair after her fight with Byte back at X3 manga. She has matured over the years but still holds her mischievous/prideful personality.

Contrary to what it's led to believe her crew aren’t like…bad or act like actual pirates. It’s more like they are more of an independent group. Since that they deal with poaching, taking out criminals out of sea, providing relief for coastal communities that were strongly affected by war, etc…They just Red Alert if they weren’t Bounty hunters.

Axl is absolutely a Streamer and a bit of a meme master. He’s a deadly actor and trickster so watch out he fucking glad that he’s a goober!!

This all makes probably zero sense whatsoever but I’m gonna try to put my thoughts into words.

His name is Beta. A robot created in the OVER-1 era. (I know the timeline is non existent apparently. I’ve changed a few things. Instead of rescuing all of these MMX, MMZ, MMBN characters, you rescue the classics instead with OVER-1 ofc).

Beta has incredible combat skills. Not on par with Zero’s or X’s, but incredible for his mental age. Beta was found in a capsule in the jungle. Found by X and Axl who were on a mission. (Perhaps the jungle aka opening stage in X8).

X and Axl, upon finding him, are wary of him. Keep in mind, Beta was supposed to wake up in late 20XX (I guess)

Ok ok. HUGE SIDE NOTE.

Beta was created with the blueprints of OVER-1. And hc that OVER-1 was based off of the blueprints for X. Beta was created by Forte, Rock and Roll with the help of Kalinka and Dr Lalinde (holy crossovers, I know 😭).

Beta was created without the knowledge of Dr Light, Wily or Cossack. They never knew of his existence. Rock had wiped his memories of creating Beta completely in fear of Dr Light finding out. Roll sealed the memories away. Bass didn’t. Bass kept the memories because at this point, it’s his son.

Beta was sealed away and Dr Lalinde or Kalinka never spoke of Beta again. Bass would check on him from time to time. Talk to the capsule with Treble by his side. He was proud of his creation. Although Rock, Roll, Lalinde and Kalinka helped, it felt like his. This was his son. Whom will help save the world.

Beta resembles Bass in a huge way. He has white hair (or light blonde I’d have to see), yellow eyes edit: they look better as light blue so, black face marks, same shape as Bass’, although he could always remove them or cover them up. His armor is black with yellow, blue and a hint of white I’d have to work on it. Beta is roughly 5’4 almost 5’5. His primary weapon is actually his hands.

See, his hands can generate an energy orb somehow and he can throw it at people. It’s dangerous, sure, but very powerful. Said orbs can be charged up but will leave Beta with little energy afterwards, making him vulnerable. His secondary weapon is a butterfly knife. He acquired it from the Maverick Hunters when X and Axl found him and took him in. It’s similar to saber technology except obviously, it does what a butterfly knife does.

Beta was supposed to wake up in late 20XX to help OVER-1 with anything that was happening. Sort of like what Protoman did. Watched from the sidelines and became support for Mega Man. Except, he wasn’t working for Wily or anything you know. But the capsule had sealed him for way longer WAY longer than he needed to.

Beta’s personality is nervous, anxious, kind, caring, intelligent, analytical. Beta isn’t all anxious, though. He knows when it’s okay to be scared and when it’s not, he tries his best to control it. He tries to analyze situations as best as he can. Thinking of many possible scenarios.

One thing. Just because he’s my original character doesn’t make him perfect. He has his flaws. My gosh, quite a few of them, actually.

Since he likes analyzing situations and practically every possible scenario, he’s slow. He’s slow in realizing something might be charging at him or trying to strike him. He lacks confidence. So much that he fails to strike his enemies when he finally gets confident enough to hit them. His design was also very outdated so he got modified with the X8 era armors.

Beta tends to panic easy. When he figured out that there has been multiple wars going on and seeing that he was in 21XX obviously scared the life out of him. What’s worse is that OVER-1 wasn’t there. He wasn’t anywhere to be found. It was his purpose. To help OVER-1, I mean. And now that he’s not there, it struck something in him.

X and Axl helped calm him down but man. This dude was a mess.

On a more positive note, aside from incredible combat skills and powers I suppose, he’s easy to talk to and get along with. He tries to see the good in everyone. Similar to how a child would. Because, well, mentally, he’s still developing. Yeah, he’s been in a capsule for years, but he needs to develop outside of it. Cuz the world isn’t perfect like the simulation in his capsule he did to make good choices. Beta has an interest in music. He likes any instrument and knows how to play, but he absolutely loves the piano. It’s his go to. It helps him relax.

Beta likes comics and cheesy romance movies. All he wants is to help people out. So what better way than to be a hunter? He’s not a pacifist per se but he’ll try to negotiate with the enemy first rather than just attacking. It’s what [who?] would’ve wanted.

The boy has many issues. Figuring out his past, who he is, all he has is a name. OVER-1. That’s it. It’s who he was supposed to help. But couldn’t. He was too late. He slept in the capsule for far too long. Beta has many dreams. He always sees four people. Three women and two men. They’re working on him. He can never see their faces clearly. He wakes up before he can. He’s frustrated. He manages to befriend Axl and realize that they have so much in common.

Headcanon - The Robot Master Wanderers

Since I know this won't get touched upon in detail within the story, so I might as well make a post/chapter about this.

NEW CHAPTER ON AO3!!

So - Protoman aka Blues, makes a group called the Robot Master Wanderers. He makes this out of other Robot Masters wanting to escape being Wily's robot, to explore the world as a human would, or explore beyond their programming. It didn't start out that way, of course.

But Blues did it all on his own. It all starts by running away to not have his personality taken from him just to get his core fixed. Yes, I think you noticed I got this from the Archie Comics. From there, Wily finds him and he becomes part of Wily's legion of robots and fights out of his newfound hatred for Dr Light.

Until he meets Rock in person. They fight and Blues realizes how much Rock cares for their creator. No matter if Rock has a driven purpose or not. Rock trying to convince Blues that Dr Light isn't a bad person and that he doesn't want to destroy any part of him, is the first instance of his code expansion-

Damn I should make a delta nano headcanon part 2- since it started from code expansion, plus Blues' independence, his coding helping with that.

Anyway- It's, of course, a visible change, albeit subtle, and Blue definitely notices it.

He then learns that Wily only temporarily fixed him, and he decided to run off again. Fighting alongside Rock. He then finds another Robot Master named Night Man, who was one of Cossack's Robot Masters and they grow a friendship in a short matter of time. I'll also make another post about Night Man and who he is, don't worry. But I'll have to get my best friend's permission first, cuz it is his character so- ye lmao

But yeah they wander together while helping Rock as he fights the Robot Masters tied to Wily and Wily himself within his Wily Machines.

Over the course of the two wandering, they find a few Robot Masters have escaped Wily's clutches to find out about their story and rumors circulating around them. Some were curious about their wanderings and if they could do the same, and Blues knows they can do what they please, as long as they don't hurt other humans, referring to the First Law of Robotics.

Which I may also touch upon. Man, I'm thinking of other headcanons I wanna post from this one alone, jesus.

I'll put in the list of wanderers they acquire throughout the story of Classic, and a little bit of X in the AU.

In order of joining in the Robot Master Era, we have

The reason why Axl and Lumine go in temporarily is when Axl tries to ask the Hunters for help in X7 Arc, he teams up with Keji, who also fights alongside Zero. I can't wait to write that arc too omg.

And why it's temporary for Lumine is after his redemption arc starts (yes, he gets one), he goes to Keji and Blues to see if he could join somewhere, so he won't be cooped up at Hunter Base all day. And Keji welcomes him to the club. And so he and Axl can find their respective creator, since she went missing after Lumine went under quarantine for his very dangerous variant of the Maverick Virus.

After they find her, they all live together as a family, a domestic life they all wish they had and are having their wish come true.

And because of the Wanderers starting in the Robot Master Era, they have code expanded on them as well, Blues being untouched most of the time, because his already does that on its own. X's does too, of course, but on a wayyyyy more advanced level compared to Blues.

Bass' code expands when he joins the Wanderers and gets a torn cape from Tengu Man to try and find Blues to join. Especially being closer to Rock.

Oh- and the Wanderers have a theme of wearing capes, cloaks, and scarfs, thanks to blues starting that with wearing his own scarf. But it's unintentional, he swears upon it. The others just started wearing their own after a while and he established the group officially.

And- there you have it. A brief history of how the Wanderers became an official group of Robot Masters who would expand their coding to experience things and to be able to break the obey code for the Three Laws of Robotics. As well as Blues internally promising to himself that he would redeem robots having independence like him and hot have a stigma of Robots being dangerous.

Which may hint that he may feel responsible for starting the obey code become a reality in the first place >w>

Sorry to interrupt and I know people didn't follow me to realize that I draw/create characters too.

But hey here's a quick doodle of character I made recently for an AU of MMX future where Capcom didn't forget humans are a thing.

I'm still developing the AU/story, but we've got some bullet points:

As a direct descendant of Cossack, robotics and respect for robots has always been the creed in her family.

Her great-great grandmother Kalinka unfortunately passed long before she was born but she always heard stories about what a great doctor she was inspired by her father. Oktava naturally wanted to be a great doctor too (but for robots).

She was injured in a Maverick attack at a young age but didn't let that color her opinions of Reploids.

Skull Man and Tundra Man are still present in this timeline and maintained by her--they've been guardians of the family for a long time. She may have gone exploring with them and found...other projects that needed fixing up and maintaining, but they're secret right now.

OVER-1, as a creation of her great-great-great grandfather comes in occasionally to check on her (though he leaves quickly as is the nature of his time traveling).

She doesn't really speak that much Russian fluently but she can read it and is teaching herself many different languages.

Actually now that I'm thinking of it her otaku-esque nature about robotics and tinkering is very reminiscent of Winry, huh. Happy October 3rd I guess!

She still gets pain occasionally from her old injuries, but she's a little too used to pushing that down and going on with her work (much to the chagrin of her robot guardians).

She's...proooobably late teens/early 20s? But assumed to be younger since she's short. It annoys her.

She works for the Maverick Hunters and helps out with a squadron that formed in response to a need for agents after a recent Maverick incident.

"Of course, I'm not above offering a sporting chance...So I Challenge you and Omega to a battle against me an my fellow X-Hunters, The three of us will be hidden within the bases of our new Maverick Warriors, each with a part of Zero, if you beat us, the part is yours...But fail? And during that time, the Maverick Hunters have regained some of their lost members and even started hiring new ones to thin out the remaining Mavericks. Though what they didn't know was the fact that this whole war was only just beginning... Let's check up on our two favorite Hunters as they're preparing themselves for their next mission

it's common knowledge that a lot of the robot masters are reprogrammed by Wily to do terrible things, but it's honestly staggering just how many of the RMs actually are not Wily-made or have anything to do with Wily at all. he's the exact kind of asshole to download someone's art, put his own signature on it, and reupload it as his own while reporting someone else for art theft. he even puts his own goddamn DWN number on them, as if he made them from the ground up!

when it comes to the overall roster of robot masters, his claim of ownership can go:

Megaman 1: mostly Light's 'bots. in the english translation, he worked on them with Light. outside of that, though, it's all Light, baby.

Megaman 2: his original OCs do not steal.

Megaman 3: Light and Wily working together

Megaman 4: Cossack, obv

Megaman 5: his original OCs do not steal

Megaman World V: not his. def. not his. they're from the far of future of the year 2000!

Megaman 6: people all over the world made 'em. also not his.

Megaman 7: like half and half? Junk Man, Spring Man, Slash Man, and Turbo Man is his, everything else is stolen.

Megaman 8: less than half. Frost Man is his, as is Grenade Man and Search Man. surprisingly, Clown Man is not his, despite Frost Man being built from leftover parts and that whole rigamarole about getting to see what his interior was like for the contest.

Megaman & Bass: less than half once again; only Ground Man, Burner Man, and Pirate Man. thing is, this number is actually zero if you consider the ones that King built to not be Wily's by proxy.

Megaman 9: Lightbots again.

Megaman 10: dudes from all over, stolen. none of them are Wily's design.

Megaman 11: stolen once again. none of them are Wily's design.

out of 13 fucking games, we have only about three of which wily can lay claim to as truly being his own. and i'm sure if we look at the expanded canon for all of the Robot Masters in spinoff games, we'd start seeing the number skew even further. in fact, that's something i'm probably gonna do at some point, making another datasheet like i did with the Mavericks.

Maverick Hunter Roll/Navigator Kalinka au (X era)

-exactly what is says on the tin

-they are both adults in this au

--either the two have been steadily dating as long as anyone has known them, or are just married in this au, I can't decide

-Roll would give mavericks a chance to surrender, but only one (I liked how Archie's Roll was more skeptical and less forgiving than Dr. Light and Rock, that carries over here)

-Roll uses a lance-shaped Saber as her primary weapon, but also uses improvised weaponry when applicable

--Kallinka uses a broom, as a callback to Classic Roll

-both are very knowledgeable about robots in general, and give advice about how best to deal with enemies when navigating

-Kalinka has her father's notes on hand and will refer to them when needed

--Kallinka seems to be the only one who is able to read the notes (apart from, presumably, Dr. Cossack himself), due to the combination of messy handwriting, disorganization, and mix of Russian, English, and Japanese they are written in

-they work best as a pair, and are considered difficult to work with when appart

-Roll is a B rank hunter, it could be far higher but she has a lot of disagreements with other hunters- including her superiors- and doesn't particularly care to improve her rank anyway

Destruction Deity Roll/Cyber Elf Kalinka au (Zero era)

-Roll is revived during Copy X's reign of terror, and Kalinka is there to watch over her girlfriend while she kicks Copy X's self-righteous arsenal

-see, given that Zero is considered the god of destruction in this era, and Roll is the Classic series equivalent of Zero, She is, by extension, a destruction deity.

--before anyone tried to argue with my perfect gay prosecutor logic, I already ran a Tumblr poll on my main to check this. I love democracy

-how is Kalinka a cyber elf, you may ask? I mean I guess technically she isn't, she is running off the life extension tech Dr. Cossack made for himself (I mean both Light and Wily did so that's not a stretch) but couldn't quite finish so he gave it to Kalinka instead

--But functionally she's like the elf in Zero 4

-Roll lost her memory like Zero did, but don't worry, Kalinka remembers everything so she's not completely in the dark

-gotta love the mental image of Neo Arcadia losing their minds over the resistance reviving ANOTHER destruction deity

-and don't think Roll is about to be proven outdated tech so easily, because not only is the broom a timeless masterpiece of a weapon, but she has a bunch of Classic era weapons to fall back on

--most of them aren't nearly as strong as what Neo Arcadia's forces can dish out, but they are still stronger than the lemon shooters that have become standard, and the variety can be used to more effectively exploit weaknesses and design flaws, and catch foes off guard

---there's also the fact that many of these are forgotten, or their equivalents in this era are unrecognizable. For instance, shields that both protect from all directions and can be used for offense, screen clearing attacks, and especially stuff that freezes all enemies like the flash or time stoppers are practically unheard of. It really can add up to a death by a thousand cuts, and Roll, much like Zero is a relatively small target that's more than good enough at dodging to make up for her comparably small health bar

----Yes, there is a Sans joke to be made here, and the joke is on Copy X

-Kalinka is very much her guide similar to Cyber Elf X, but also stays by Roll's side and buffs her like the Zero 4 elf

-once Roll does get her memories back, she begins to take Copy X's actions personally. She does NOT take kindly to what he did with/too her "baby brother"'s good name

-famililal relationship with guardians status: very, very complicated. So they are each a piece of X's soul, right? Does that make them X's children or his siblings? Or some other third thing?

--Either way, Roll can't bring herself to actually kill them - She already has two and a half dead brothers too many at minimum, forget whatever the number becomes if you could ALL of Dr. Light's robots as her siblings.

-because of their backrounds, they are quite good at crafting items and can be found helping develop weapons when they aren't on missions

-Smol Kalinka, very cute

--i know Cyber Elves aren't necessarily the size they are shown to be in game, but I also don't care. Kalinka is smol anyways

Mega Man? Kalinka/biometal Model r au (ZX era)

-A role reversal, or should I say a ROLL- *gets shot*

-Model r was a third party hired by Tomas's unwieldy attempt to create a new biometal without Ceil's research or model W, using a soul of beyond ancient and unclear origin because a large amount of mysterious (justice) energy was detected in it.

-however, Model r was unable to Mega Merge with with anyone, even the ones with Albert's DNA- and all telepathy could tell them was cryptic hints as to the one person who could

--Determined not to let the project be a failure, they would eventually revive Kalinka without her memories - only the knowledge (well, feeling) that she could, and should trust Model r, and together they break out of the lab

- Model r is not the strongest biometal, and since Kalinka isn't actually a 'mega man', isn't compatible with the other biometal's either. She does, however, have the variable weapon system, and a broom.

--given that the Psudoroids are complete [YouTube]s, I think that will be enough

-certain memories can be found by going to certain places - the met theme park and e-tank shop, for instance

-Roll does remember everything - her memory wasn't wiped because of the aforementioned search for Kalinka - but she doesn't tell Kalinka all that much because... Well, she's sorta 'not supposed to be alive' right now and it would be difficult to explain that everyone Kalinka cared about is dead, and the one exception, her, is the reason she has to live with that

--and then Tomas tries to use that to make Kalinka doubt Roll and give up right before they fight and it works about as well as the last two times a ZX villain tried that, who would have thought

-the male alt ZX has for some reason is either Rock/Bass or Protoman/Tempo, take your pick.

//-ALRIGHT WHO’S READY FOR “VIO GETS WORKED UP OVER DUMB STUPID MEGA MAN NERD SHIT”

//-Alright, so at this point in my life, I’ve at least taste-tested every mainline entry in the Classic timeline of Mega Man games except the Legends series. Played Classic across the span of a few years, binged the X series when the Legacy Collections dropped, and did the same when the Zero/ZX Collections dropped as well. Each series has its own merit, except for the Zero series, which is Poopy Butt and I hate it but that’s a rant for another time.

//-Needless to say, I’ve also seen how the story plays out. From Light and Wily’s feud, to the Maverick Wars, the Elf Wars, and finally whatever the fuck Model W was doing in the ZX series. There’s a lot of story, and a lot of it is really good! I fell in love with the ZX series, for example, and I’d love to take up a character from it.

//-I have one huge, massive, INSANELY ANNOYING problem with it, though, and that’s that the Classic series is rarely EVER directly acknowledged in the timeline. What little there is is focused in the X series entirely, with Light appearing for X’s armor capsules + a flashback in Day of Sigma, and Wily showing up in a flashback in X4, an implied ghost in X5, and possibly as a robot in X2 (that one’s weird). Every reference to the Classic series after that is more so a cameo or a callback— the Masters in ZX Advent, for example, being named after Light, Wily, and Cossack, or Konro Man showing up on a comic cover also in ZX Advent. Even when Zero’s past is brought up in the Zero series, Wily isn’t directly acknowledged to my memory. Classic doesn’t matter. Hell, the X series barely mattered by then.

The timeline effectively started when Light made X, and Wily Zero, not with the creation of Rock, or Blues before him, or the Double Gear before either of them.

What do you think happened to the Classic Mega Man cast in the time period between the original series and Mega Man X?

Oh that’s a hard one. According to MMX Command Mission concept art, Rock survives the ages, and perhaps Roll would have survived alongside him. Everyone else, however, may just be gone. There’s no one to look after Light and Wily’s robots after they’re gone. Cossack maybe. The robots might just live their lives in peace as long as they can before succumbing to age and wear. Some of them may even choose to be deactivated and placed in museums. In my mind, King’s kingdom stands the longest, those robots survive to see reploids. But they don’t survive the first maverick war. Sadness all round, really.

continuing off right after part 1

dwn's 17-24 originally worked for both light and wily when they decided to reunite and make their newest creation, gamma. Needle man worked in the mining industry and part time selling knitwear, wily met him while clothes shopping for baby bass and decided he would be a good asset to his schemes. Magnet man is the manager of the magnet sales division of some big company that aided the gamma project.

 Gemini man is a laser scientist who is always preoccupied with beautifying himself or those around him. he can be forced to work under threat of snake man's pet 'snakey' who is always.. there. Hard man is hired as a bodyguard as he was the previous wrestling champion of 20XX. he makes sure the project is kept top secret. top man is the PR guy who makes all the shady deals regarding materials that are hard to acquire. he insisted they house his gigantic cat Tama in the lab, and if he wasnt so good at his job he mightve been fired. Snake man is a reptile scientist/veterinarian who was temporarily employed by wily when bass brought treble to him. snake's job is to keep tabs on everything and report any insubordination.

Spark man was a younger co worker of elec man who brought him along to help. spark gets along with everyone, and even after siding with wily's plan still thinks fondly of the dln's. no one knows where shadow man came from, or what he does. but he's always paid before the other dwn's.

wily convinces the third line to side with him so he can take all the credit, and give them a higher pay (they actually get a smaller paycheck because he has too many workers and a vicious child) but when Gamma is completed, something goes wrong. there are probably may injuries, and both doctors break up again. is love truly over...?

cossack and light would be good friends that dont get to talk much bc work and distance (japan and russia) cossack and kalinka are both roboticists and he's keen to teach her everything he knows. she is a child prodigy. skull man is definitely going to be a robot master, unsure about the other dcn's. might be human, might not. but there will be a big difference between the dcn's and kalinka somehow. she might be 10? but she is a genious. her and roll would be fast friends if they met.

theres not much to say about plant man or dr astil. maybe light and him are collegues? plant could be a robot master or a human,, theres nothing planned beyond the 3rd line. but plant man is well known by any gardener, as a famous mascot and maybe a botanist? (x really wants to meet him in person)

as for dr lalinde, she probably went to the same university as light and wily. that would make tempo her daughter. tempo and blues probably meet and bond over their own mental issues and become close friends. lalinde later adopts vesper woman who instantly makes friends with tempo (though its a one-sided friendship for a while). tempo would be 10 and vesper would be 11. vesper might be related to hornet man but thats a looooong way away.

before wily "adopted" zero he was violent and bloodthirsty, part of some fight club gang. some of their members included vile, alia, the 1st mav line, sigma (the big guy in charge), other x villains. everyone gets addicted to a magic drug called maverick..?

so zero's sort of a mystery nobody knows who he's related to or where he came from but he hangs around with vile and storm? he knows his lifes a mess all he does is fight and drink.but he's not about that life and when wily gives him an offer he cant refuse, he up and quits and decides to beat up machines instead of humans. alia is probably the only one he really keeps in contact with afterwards.

Headcanon - Delta Nano development (along with some code expansion explanation)

THIS IS IT!! AT LAST!! THE MOMENT WE’VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR!!

This will be a headcanon explaining what “Delta Nano” is!! Finally touching up on it! If you saw my “Why Zero has Dark Powers” Headcanon post, I did mention this in passing. So, here we are! We’re talking about it now!

I didn’t know how to put it into words for the longest time since I’ve been developing this element in the AU for a LONG time. But I wanna keep a log of this so I don’t forget it.

Delta Nano is a power that emulates “magic” within Reploids. Meaning just power upgrades, but pertaining more to the elements. Like water, fire, air, earth, light and dark.  Also you can thank my friend Hex for coming up with this name since I needed one for this (check out his blogs btw @thedoctorscreations and @ultraxuma - of course he has more than just those but those are some of his best character portrayals and good ocs and world building I swear it’s great!!)

It also connects to code expansion. Which I will also get into for this headcanon world building post. It all started with that, so I’ll get into it.

It goes back to the Robot Master Era, where Rock started fighting off against Wily’s plans of world domination. It’s kinda like that moment in the Archie Comics where he wanted to up and help Dr Light get those robot masters back. It’s like gaining free will, but then not. Since Blues kinda obtained the prototype version of that type of programming.

As time progresses, Rock’s code expands whenever he saves anyone, makes new friends, or learns something new about Blues and his direct family.

Even Blues’ code expands, but more naturally and not on a spur of the moment kind of epiphany like other robot masters including Rock.

Another to expand on this idea of the tech is Night Man. The Bat robot master designed for deep cave exploration built by doctor cossack after MM4 (That’s another post for another day, esp since he’s not my OC, I just muse him lmao)

Thing is, the Evil Energy we know from MM8 actually appeared much earlier here, Cossack finding the stuff, but not really knowing what it was, and it appearing to be just dark matter looking energy at first. Of course it only took until MM8 for Duo to appear to get that Evil Energy but since Wily finally was in possession of it, it was used under the wrong hands.

Of course, with that all being resolved, Night Man being free of the energy itself but keeping the powers to control with ease, the code expansions continue, especially throughout the Wanderer group Blues assembled (another headcanon for another day I’ll touch up on)

With all that code expansion of free will, that was mostly used as research for X’s creation, since his free will programming was set to be way more advanced than Blues’. The Delta Nano project, however, didn’t start development until after MM11 at Chronos Institute, Quint starting to appear in this time. I’ll also touch on him and ViA, don’t you worry~.

They knew there was potential with raw element powers for Robot Masters. Of course, that was already prominent, especially with robot masters involving electricity such as Elect Man, Fuse man, etc. But the powers would be of more natural elements than them just being generated.

Quint has gone all around time and space to find raw elements to use for this tech, which wasn’t even called Delta Nano yet until later on in the Reploid/Maverick Wars Era. Thing is, not much time was made to develop it when humanity had enough of robots causing havoc amongst them because of Wily and also partially because of Dr Light.

Chronos Institute was then destroyed and vandalized thanks to the Emerald Spears (yes they’re in this verse too lmao). By this point, their movement has reached more humans and Rock, his remaining family, and the remaining Wanderers had to go into hiding. Which was left in vain, since being in hiding left them more vulnerable for decaying faster and not having easy access to e-tanks or parts to repair themselves. Add another in depth headcanon to the list lmao.

Fast forward to 21XX where X and Zero are Maverick Hunters. By the time of X4, a woman named Linda Kleimann founded the Delta Nano Project. Having the information and research from Chronos Institute thanks to Quint. They decided to partner up and restart a new era of time skipping, and develop new tech for reploids.

She then created her own once the Timeless Accident Arc happening at the same time (an event of a time travel accident to the past that happens with Xev and Zero), whom she named Axl, a friend of hers also created a reploid of their own, whom they named Jericho Nox. He became part of the team and one of the first reploids to join in as such. He and Linda became very close friends.

Both of them together decided to create crystals that held the raw energy that produced the power ups. The “magic” induced into them, and only to their assigned holders. Axl was not only one of the prototypes for a new generation for copying Reploid DNA, but also for the Delta Nano Crystals. He was assigned Cyan, Lime, White and Yellow crystals. Which held earth, water and light qualities. The Lime Green provides the greenery of earth, Cyan p[rovides water, while the other two provide light energy. White is the pure light, yellow is lightning, and cyan is water.

Numerous tests are made, Axl and Linda bond as well. And they bond flawlessly, having a sort of mother/son relationship. He looks up to her for guidance. There were others who wanted to take Linda’s project and Axl, including Sigma. Which made Axl aware of his existence.

Linda then made sure that Axl would be safe from then on and continued the research harder than ever before, knowing of her poor reploid being possibly taken from her.

By the Eurasia Incident, just before it all spiraled out of control with the Sigma Virus, Lumine was finished being built, and when the Nightmare Incident rolls on in, a group called Red Alert heard of Axl’s potential and stole him and his crystals. Leaving Linda devastated that she lost someone she bonded with as her son. Though, she still had Lumine and his other four crystals he had.

His are Lavender, Black, Orange and Red. Black is the pure dark energy, powered with evil energy, in fact, which Duo had to come back to Earth for numerous times. You think he’d only come that ONE time in MM8, did ya? Lavender is the more concentrated version of it. More a synthetic version experimented with. Orange is fire energy, and red is a mixture of viscous red liquid. That is left ambiguous and left up to your imagination of what that may be~.

After he was activated in the duration of post X5, in the three year gap of Zero’s death, Linda’s been working with Lumine, especially finding out he has a terrible mutative maverick virus that’s corrosive. Putting him in quarantine to be terminated. When Xevdex was told Lumine needed to be terminated, the numb and grieving Blue Jay had no emotion in needing to do so.

Lumine had a hatred for the Maverick Hunters and X by extension. I’ll probably have a post dedicated to Axl and Lumine and their relation as brothers.

After Linda’s disappearance throughout the whole process of eliminating Lumine, all her efforts of protecting him being in vain, him escaping to the moon, Jericho took over the project, and the development proceeded as normal.

Soon, Delta Nano would be distributed as crystals, and X and Zero would eventually get one of each or more for themselves.

PHEWW!! That’s all I got there!! It’s a little messy but there’s a lot that goes on for this and I apologize for it taking so long to upload.

[MMX] Future Me Hates Me: Part 5

Summary: After stumbling upon a Light Capsule, and having it erroneously refer to her as Kalinka, Aero seeks to figure out just what her family connection is to Doctor Light. Meanwhile, after the death of Iris, Zero vows to absolve himself of his past. However, as Aero becomes the target of a Maverick, Zero is forced into finding that not all bridges can easily be burned…

Aero felt weird having to step around the corpses of the Reploids Zero had taken out. She gave each and every one an apology- then right after reminding herself that they had intentions of forcing her to comply. So she opted to mentally spit on them. May they rest in peace, but that’s what they get for going after someone who knows a pretty strong Maverick Hunter.

“I  can’t believe the only thing stopping them was the password.” Zero thoughtfully said out loud. “Never minding the fact they could have just hacked it, what on earth could it have been that they couldn’t guess it before we got here?”

“Do you even know what kalinka is?” Aero mused as she entered her great-grandmother’s birthday.

“It’s the name of your grandmother’s mother. You told me that.”

“Yes, but it’s also a dance set to traditional music bearing the same name. I also think there’s a movie called it too.”

“That’s just stupid. Who would guess those dates before ever thinking about your descendant?”

Aero turned to Zero as the vault unlocked. She was grinning as she asked, “Are you really going to tell them that now?”

Zero took a glance at the dead Reploids and soon shook his head. Aero laughed as she opened the vault door- Zero helping a bit when it seemed to get stuck on its own old hinges.

The vault was all but empty. A few shelves lining the walls had some old paper documents that looked quite worn and yellowed. But near the dead center of the vault was a familiar capsule. It came to life the moment both Aero and Zero entered the vault. From its center, the green wall familiar in all the capsules started to project an image of an equally familiar man. Zero tensed slightly at its form.

“Hello, descendant of Mikhail Cossack.” the capsule’s hologram said to them in slightly archaic Russian.

“Oh…” Aero sheepishly mumbled. “I… I’m not that good with Russian. The language I use now is fine, if you’re able to copy that.”

The hologram nodded, then repeated in a language they better understood, “Hello, descendant of Mikhail Cossack. I am sure that you have many questions after finding me here. How would you like to proceed?”

Zero and Aero gave each other a glance.

“I have a few, actually.” Aero admitted. “If you’re able to answer them, or don’t have a timer, or something.”

“We have all the time in the world, young one.”

“Right…” Aero mumbled under her breath. She then gave a shake of her head before addressing the hologram proper again. “A few days ago, another one of these weird capsules called me Kalinka- my great-grandmother’s name. One of the things I wanted to know was why. Why would one of these capsules anticipate a member of the Cossack family? The goon we just fought outside made it seem like no one could activate one of these capsules, so why could I?”

“An understandable request.” the hologram nodded. “Relaying video data from February 20XX.”

“Well, this ought to be interesting.” Zero mused, folding his arms.

The hologram lost its form before taking on the shape of a large rectangle. Becoming a short of screen, there was some static before giving way to the image of a very tired old man. Plump, sporting a white beard, and almost resembling Santa Claus in his own right, there before Zero and Aero was one of the last video diaries of Doctor Thomas Light.

“This is a message for Kalinka Cossack, or any of her descendants that were able to gain access to their family storage.” Doctor Light said in the recording. “I’m sure you will have many questions, and I’m afraid I can only explain one of them; why you are able to access these capsules.

“You see, for the past decade or so, I have been trying to tap into the ‘X Factor’ of what could bridge the gap between robots and humans. As of this week, I believe my final product, Mega Man X, is ready to undergo his testing. My health has declined quite a bit in this time. I know I will never be able to see him when the tests are finished. But that’s alright. There are many in this world who never knew their own parents, or even a family at all.

“But you, Kalinka, should be there to help him awaken. If not you, then I pray for a family member who embodies your unique spirit. X will need that kind of encouragement. It will help him grow to be the symbol of hope I know him to be. This will be an incredible responsibility, Kalinka- but I believe in you. I believe that the two of you could be friends, just like you were with Rock and Roll.

“I’ve created capsules like this one to help X should the time call for it. Only three are able to open them; X, yourself, and a potentially third that may land me in trouble should he choose a path of darkness. Knowing his creator, however, I do wish he is able to change for the better given the proper opportunity. This was done so that no one is able to abuse the power within X- the power to adapt, to endlessly grow, to feel and think just like a human. There is a reason for the testing I wish for X to go through. To that extent, only ones deemed worthy can fully access all the information I have left to offer this world. Consider it a modern Prometheus conundrum. If the fire of knowledge is in the wrong hands, it could burn more than just wood.

“As much as I need to explain further, that is all the time I have for now, Kalinka. Please know that it is still your choice to care for X. You never have to accept the armors within the capsules if you wish. They will always be locked to others passing by for that reason. All I desire is that you remember that, even in loss, we are all still together. Best wishes, Doctor Thomas Light.”

With that, the screen went back to static and the hologram once more took the form of Doctor Light.

“Why build X, then?” Zero questioned. He didn’t even have the time to stop himself. “Doctor Light already had a legacy. He’s the reason why we have half the technology we do- even before X.”

“Nothing can replace the heart of a loved one.” the hologram calmly told him. “Legacies are more than the patents with your name on them, or stories told far after your passing. They are the people you love and dedicated time to. The ones who remember you long after you took your last breath. This was why X was to be made- to be loved and loved in return by the people who matter to him most.”

Zero immediately scrunched his face in disgust.

“Serves me right for asking a stupid question…” he mumbled to himself.

“And Kalinka?” Aero quietly spoke up. “She didn’t find X. This whole bunker had been abandoned for decades. I didn’t even know about this place until a day ago. What was her, my family’s, connection to Doctor Light, and why did it just… stop?”

“I can not answer this fully,” the hologram told her. “However, do know that there was a great time of loss before Mega Man X underwent his safety protocols. It is possible that she chose not to take on the responsibility, to better preserve the memories of those she loved.”

“So she ignored it.” Aero decided. She gave a dark side glance to Zero before adding, “That sounds familiar.”

“Perhaps,” the hologram agreed, “At the same time, grief is not linear. Kalinka may have intended to take X in, on her own time, but that time became overshadowed by other responsibilities. Becoming a mother, perhaps. Medical emergencies or other unexpected costs that barred one to suddenly care for a new housemate. She may have even chosen not to in the end. As per Doctor’s Light wish, it was her choice in the end. Is this all you wish to know?”

“Yeah.” Aero agreed. She looked a bit smaller now, as if a small, terrifying thought came to her.

“I don’t have any other questions either.” Zero agreed. His body had become more stiff. He would be considering the hologram’s words for awhile.

“Very well then,” the hologram nodded. The capsule slowly went through the motions of being placed on standby again- almost as if it were waiting for the duo to change their mind. Once it was collapsed again, the vault filled with an eerie silence.

“We should start heading back.” Zero eventually said. Aero’s only reply was a small nod.

To her surprise, Zero joined Aero on the flight home. He even paid extra out of pocket to sit next to her! Aero went out of her way to annoy him for the first two or so hours. It was a comfort to have him at his familiar level of grump again.

“So we’re never telling X about the capsule in the vault, right?” Aero asked as she tried to find the most irritating method to open a bag of peanuts.

“Nope.” Zero affirmed. “It’s not like X has any interest in them to begin with. They find him.”

“Fair enough.” Aero nodded. She hummed a little as she popped each peanut into her mouth, one at a time. With each chew, her mind was brought back to something in particular.

“Hey, Zero?”

“Yes?”

“You know how you feel for Iris right now? One day, it’s going to happen to X too.”

Zero held onto the airplane seat’s armrest a bit tighter. 

“I’ve been aware.” he admitted in a dark voice.

“When that time comes, I want you to do something for me. Because X… X is different. He won’t have someone to tell him to just cry and keep moving. He’ll only have you.”

Zero turned around enough to give her a hard glare.

“What are you getting at?” he questioned.

Aero then looked Zero in the eye, and through a pained smile, she told him what to do.

It was a quiet slow day at the Maverick Hunter base with the Robot Masters doing their hobbies to keep them from being bored until it was Brightman who spoke up, "Say, I know that we're a big happy family again but some how, I feel like we're missing someone," Pharaohman lowered his book when he found out who it was, "Dear, Cossack! We forgot Tundraman!"

"Tundra Man? Who's that?" Onega asked his brothers with a confused look on his face

Granted, history repeated with the Maverick virus in the X series…

I love how the classic Mega Man series repeatedly insists that the Robot Masters were constructed for civilian industrial roles and later re-purposed for combat, and that the areas you fight them in are simply the places where they work, and then the level design is just completely irreconcilable with any of this.
