classical music rant ahead~
I’m not gonna reblog the post itself because people can’t be normal in the notes* but oh my god that ā€œif it sounds like X, it’s Y composerā€ post is the most infuriatingly, wildly inaccurate thing. ā€œmansplainingā€ for Wagner?!? REALLY?!? Saying Bach sounds ā€œlike a vampireā€ what does that even meANNNN. don’t get me started on the Beethoven (!!) and Shostakovich ones or I will turn into an incoherent seething mess. it’s worse than just being inaccurate even, it’s insulting to their music and range how inaccurate that user’s descriptions are.
like. there’s so many ways to make FUNNY posts about classical music!!! throwback to my prof bringing in shot glasses and grape juice when we covered Tristan and Isolde! Throwback to my cinnaminim meme!! Throwback to the [redacted] symphony members MEME GROUP where we EXCLUSIVELY SHARED CLASSICAL MUSIC MEMES. throwback to my Bach shirt with CHICKENS ON IT. Composer memes. Symphony memes. Translation memes. Oboi. drunk sugar plum fairy. old twoset skits. like.
I just. keep classical music accessible, yes. criticize it, yes! love it, yes! meme on it, yes!! remix it in sillygoofy ways! yes! Be silly and unserious or serious and yearning about it! Or both/all/more all at once! by all means!!! just. don’t make a joke that’s unfunny because it’s wildly inaccurate, then get mad at me for not laughing. 😐 like. lemme just call you the scarecrow because of this wild strawman fallacy logic you’re exhibiting.
*apparently some tumblr users can’t understand the concept of ā€œthis joke isn’t funny and it’s probably because the ā€˜joke’ isn’t really very accurate to the subject matter itselfā€ because any time someone in the notes says that, people accuse them of being ā€œelitist about classical musicā€ like bro what. that is just. false equivalence. saying a joke isn’t funny because it’s inaccurate isn’t elitism it’s just the truth
#personal#what a stupid thing to get so incensed about at 10pm on a Friday night but good lord#I’m sorry but if someone saying ā€˜I don’t get the joke it’s not funny because it’s inaccurate’ makes you immediately jump to calling them an#elitist and accusing them of being gatekeeping?? uh. bro… are you like. okay. like#actually maybe go listen to some new world symphony second movement or Mahler 5 second movement and you’ll calm down#<- referencing the ā€˜maybe you’ll calm down’ meme#I know I’m biased but. seriously what the fuck#there’s so many legitimately funny things to say and meme on abt the classical music world why make an unfunny joke and then get mad when i#don’t laugh 😐😐#then again what do I know I only have a multihundredthousanddollar piece of paper saying I’m good at this or something#<- which BY THE WAY. HEY. is not a requirement for enjoying classical music so DONT @ ME. I mention that only to say I am externally peer r#viewed certified as knowing of what I speak. ok. ok? got it? we cool?#yes. you need absolutely 0 credentials to enjoy classical music. you need exactly 0 credentials to be knowledgeable about classical music.#you do not need to even be the tiniest knowledgeable about classical music to enjoy classical music. all of this is true.#I mention my expensive piece of paper solely to say. maybe if credentialed people don’t find the joke accurate or funny it’s just.. not 😐#<- if EVEN credentialed people but somehow my word ā€˜even’ got deleted. anyways#anyways. this probably matters to 1.5 people but it got me incensed#if you’re going to clown on classical music at least be FUNNY about it and that requires your joke to at least be mildly relevant#there’s enough actual elitism around classical music you are simply missing the mark & muddying waters by throwing that term around#and using it inaccurately. you are in fact accomplishing the opposite of what you ostensibly intended

My unpopular opinion (well unpopular with employers at any rate) is that if your workplace is going to require you to do shit that requires having a phone, even if it's just 2FA for your work email and nothing else, then they should provide you with that phone. My personal phone should not be connected to anything that will ever intersect with the IT department's work.

[ID: Four screenshots of a Francesca Tighinean video with captions that read:
People think they're healing when they're actually just isolating themselves with no one to trigger them. This is called avoidant coping. Real healing happens through emotionally corrective relationships. When old patterns are met with new responses, we begin to rewire our internal world. When your nervous system experiences being met with presence instead of abandonment, and you feel deeply seen rather than neglected, your inner world begins to rewire.

When I first started reading this book, I admittedly went to Goodreads to see if it gets any better (not really) and someone used the phrase "not like other girls" to describe one of the POV characters and honestly her whole shit really does feel like some Eat, Pray, Love bullshit for girls who are a little bit ~quirky~

Background checks play a significant role in the nursing profession, offering both safety and trust to patients and employers. Nurses are often required to undergo thorough evaluations, which help to ensure that they have the necessary qualifications and background to provide quality care. Biometric identification in Baltimore, Maryland, is one such method used in these checks, ensuring that the nurse’s identity is verified accurately, reducing the risks of fraud and impersonation.

This is what happens when we treat education as if it's accreditation. It is not. Accreditation is, in theory, a guarantee of specific knowledge or skills. It comes in many shapes and sizes, some better and some worse.
Universities are educational institutions, and degrees are accredited on the basis of being to deliver a complex set out outcomes that include not only discipline-relevant knowledge, but also skills. At their absolute worst, universities become glorified credentialing services. But at their best, and how they should function, they impart detailed knowledge and a variety of important skills that will, from an employment perspective, allow you to not only get an initial job, but also to advance through your career as time goes on. These are things like critical thinking, literacy, problem solving, communication, leadership and self-management, etc.
As someone else said up there, it's like exercise -- there are no gains without doing the actual work, not when it comes to skill building. While learning to use generative AI for work may be one worthwhile skill to learn (if you are a business major, for example), it should absolutely not be the only skill you learn in any degree program.
Even if you are just at school for a piece of paper and you care about nothing else, care about this: if you outsource all of your work to AI, then you are 100% replaceable by your employer, since you can't do anything, and all your skills and work can be automated. The better the automation becomes, the more redundant you are. A degree 'earned' through academic misconduct via GenerativeAI isn't worth the paper it's printed on, and it won't take long at all for your future employers to course-correct.
So while it's literally life and death when we're talking about learning and medical professionals, even business majors shouldn't outsource their degrees to AI.
Why are you using chatgpt to get through college. Why are you spending so much time and money on something just to be functionally illiterate and have zero new skills at the end of it all. Literally shooting yourself in the foot. If you want to waste thirty grand you can always just buy a sportscar.

im going to kill myself a million times. Why do I still see ppl acting like "ace people who enjoy sex? That's not what ace means!" Like maybe you're right idgaf but I feel like ppl do not understand or acknowledge that The physical sensation of stimulation that sex produces is obviously connected to but not inherently attached to sexual attraction.
Actually I'm going to go further and talk about the fact Sexual assault is one example of something involving sexual interaction that doesn't require attraction. Like attraction can be a factor I'm not saying it's never an element but it is not INHERENT to ASSAULT. And I think the idea that sex = attraction is not accurate and needs to be acknowledged bc of it. Also note ace people can sexually assault and/or harass people because 'sexual' actions are not only tied to attraction. And on the flip side: people can be "aroused" by sexual assault bc of the physical stimulation and that doesn't say shit about their sexuality. It's a physical response.
Like I don't really give a shit Abt if ace people can like sex or if ppl who like sex can't be ace or whatever but the implications of these discussions make me want to hurt myself and others
Also sex repulsed =/= asexual because people can experience sexual attraction and still have problems with sex. For example: people who struggle with accepting their sexuality and unlearning/uninternalizing societal bigotry like homophobia and transphobia may be repulsed by sex. Sexual assault survivors may still experience sexual attraction but be repulsed by sex. and sexual repulsion can be permanent or temporary based on the person.
And I'm almost sure unless I've been misinformed by a lot of ppl: hypersexuality is not incompatible with asexuality. From my understanding, hypersexuality is not a measure of "how sexual" someone is, it's closer to an OCD obsession focused on sex, where people can have intrusive thoughts that are sexual, or assume they need to provide for someone sexually to be "of worth" + is often a trauma response rather than a reflectiom of attraction or desire

The Comprehensive Guide to Creating Your Express Entry Profile for Canadian Permanent Residency
As one of the most sought-after destinations for skilled professionals, Canada offers a robust immigration pathway through its Express Entry system. Designed to streamline the process for obtaining permanent residency, this points-based immigration system prioritizes candidates who can contribute to Canada’s diverse economy. This guide will walk you through the essential steps to create a successful Express Entry profile and optimize your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA).
Understanding the Express Entry System
The Express Entry system manages applications for three key federal immigration programs:
1. Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
The FSWP is aimed at skilled workers with foreign work experience. It evaluates candidates based on factors such as education, work experience, and language proficiency.
2. Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
Designed for skilled tradespeople, the FSTP requires candidates to have a job offer or a certificate of qualification from a Canadian authority, in addition to relevant work experience.
3. Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
The CEC caters to individuals with Canadian work experience. It is ideal for those who have gained professional experience in Canada and wish to transition to permanent residency.
Eligibility Requirements
Before creating your Express Entry profile, it's crucial to ensure you meet the eligibility criteria for one of the programs listed above:
Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
Work Experience: Minimum of one year of continuous full-time or equivalent part-time work experience in a skilled occupation listed under the National Occupational Classification (NOC).
Language Proficiency: Must achieve a minimum score in an approved language test (e.g., IELTS, CELPIP, or TEF).
Education: A minimum secondary school diploma, along with a valid Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) for foreign education.
Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
Work Experience: At least two years of full-time work experience in a skilled trade.
Job Offer or Certification: A valid job offer from a Canadian employer or a certificate of qualification from a Canadian provincial authority.
Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
Work Experience: At least one year of skilled work experience in Canada within the last three years.
Language Proficiency: Must meet the minimum language requirements according to the NOC classification.
Using the Come to Canada Tool
The Come to Canada Tool available on the IRCC website is a valuable resource that helps potential applicants assess their eligibility based on individual circumstances. This tool is essential for understanding your immigration options.
Step-by-Step Process for Creating Your Express Entry Profile
Step 1: Document Preparation
Before starting your Express Entry profile, gather all necessary documents:
Valid Passport: Ensure your passport is current and valid throughout the application process.
Language Test Results: High scores in language proficiency tests are critical for maximizing your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.
Educational Credential Assessment (ECA): Obtain an ECA to validate your foreign educational qualifications through designated organizations.
Work Experience Letters: Collect reference letters from previous employers outlining your job titles, responsibilities, and employment duration, ensuring alignment with the appropriate NOC codes.
Proof of Funds: If required, provide documentation showing sufficient funds to support yourself and any dependents upon your arrival in Canada.
Step 2: Creating Your Express Entry Profile
Register for an IRCC Account: Start by creating a secure account on the IRCC portal using GCKey or a trusted Sign-In Partner.
Complete the Profile: Accurately enter your personal, educational, and employment information, ensuring consistency with your supporting documents.
Indicate Interests in Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs): Express interest in specific PNPs, which can significantly enhance your chances of selection.
Step 3: Optimizing Your CRS Score
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) allocates points based on various criteria. To enhance your score:
Language Proficiency: Consider retaking language tests if necessary to achieve better scores.
Further Education: Pursue additional qualifications or certifications to earn extra points.
Job Offers: Securing a valid job offer from a Canadian employer can add considerable points to your profile.
Provincial Nomination: Receiving a nomination from a province adds 600 points to your CRS score, significantly increasing your likelihood of receiving an ITA.
Step 4: Maintaining Your Profile
Your Express Entry profile remains valid for 12 months. Regularly update it to reflect any changes in your circumstances, such as new qualifications or improvements in your language scores.
Step 5: Receiving an ITA
If selected, you will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA), requiring you to submit a complete application for permanent residency within 60 days. Ensure all supporting documents accurately reflect the information provided in your profile.
Common Challenges in the Express Entry Process
1. Document Preparation
Compiling necessary documentation can be time-consuming. Begin this process early to avoid potential delays, especially when obtaining reference letters from employers.
2. Language Proficiency Issues
Initial test scores may fall short of the required thresholds. Consider investing in language training and retaking the tests for improved results.
3. Changes in Personal Circumstances
Life events (e.g., marriage, new job offers) can affect your application. Promptly update your profile to maintain accuracy.
4. Risks of Misrepresentation
Submitting false information can lead to severe consequences, including bans on future applications. Ensure all details are truthful and verifiable.
Conclusion
Creating an Express Entry profile is a vital step toward achieving Canadian permanent residency. By thoroughly evaluating your eligibility, meticulously preparing your documentation, and strategically optimizing your CRS score, you can significantly improve your chances of receiving an ITA. A structured approach will facilitate your success in navigating the complexities of the Canadian immigration process, ultimately leading to a rewarding new chapter in Canada.

Achieving Operational Zenith: The Synergistic Symphony of Six Sigma and Lean Principles
Introduction: The Harmonious Dance of Six Sigma and Lean
Six Sigma and Lean have emerged as champions in the ever-changing world of organizational efficiency. Each provides significant benefits on their own, but when combined, they form a harmonious symphony of operational excellence. In this blog, we will investigate the dynamic interplay between Six Sigma and Lean concepts, revealing the revolutionary force that emerges when two approaches come together in a seamless manner.
Tumblr media
Section 1: The Dual Forces of Six SigmaĀ
1.1 Embarking on the Six Sigma Journey
Six Sigma, a quality-driven technique, goes on a journey summarized in the DMAIC process (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control). These painstakingly planned stages provide enterprises with a defined path for eliminating flaws and increasing operational efficiency.
1.2 The DMAIC Symphony: A Precision Movement
With specified goals, data-driven measurement, rigorous analysis, continuous improvement, and a control climax to ensure ongoing excellence, each aspect of the DMAIC process contributes to the symphony. Organizations that use this methodology foster a culture of data-driven decision-making and continual improvement.
Section 2: The Lean BalletĀ
2.1 Lean Principles: A Ballet of Efficiency
Lean concepts, derived from the Toyota Production System, give operational processes a balletic beauty. Lean, which is based on waste removal and value maximization, promotes continual development and a deep respect for people. The stage is set for operations that are efficient, agile, and focused on the client.
2.2 Lean Choreography: Streamlining Performance
From waste reduction to the disciplined dance of 5S, lean concepts choreograph a simplified performance. This dance transforms firms into agile entities capable of precisely responding to client needs and delivering value with grace.
Section 3: The Symbiotic Dance of Lean Six SigmaĀ
3.1 A Dance of Synergy: Integration for Excellence
A synergistic dance occurs when Lean principles are combined with the organized processes of Six Sigma. Six Sigma's analytical strength is supplemented by Lean's emphasis on efficiency and waste reduction. They work together to generate a revolutionary rhythm that is in sync with operational excellence.
3.2 In Action Harmony: Real-World Crescendos
Examine real-world examples of how firms have successfully combined Lean Six Sigma. Observe the cascade of enhanced procedures, increased customer happiness, and measurable bottom-line results. The combination of these techniques creates a potent tool for transformation.
Section 4: Case Studies and Success StoriesĀ
4.1 Industry Maestros: A Showcase of Success
Examine case examples from a variety of industries, each demonstrating a distinct symphony of success gained through the integration of Lean Six Sigma. These stories offer glimpses into the transforming path, from hurdles to glorious outcomes.
4.2 Conducting Success: Maestros' Advice
Take away useful insights from these success tales. Navigate common organizational obstacles and find unique solutions that led them to a harmonious combination of operational excellence.
Section 5: Implementation StrategiesĀ
5.1 Taking the First Step: Organizational Best Practices
Provide actionable advice to firms thinking about implementing Lean Six Sigma. Discuss ways for overcoming opposition to change and explain critical first steps to establishing a harmonic operational dance.
5.2 Dance Training and Mastery
Emphasize the importance of staff and leadership training. Examine approved certificates for professionals seeking to become masters of the Lean Six Sigma dance.
Conclusion: A Crescendo of ExcellenceĀ
Finally, the convergence of Six Sigma and Lean concepts results in a crescendo of operational excellence. The harmonious dance of efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement transforms organizations into success orchestras, with each methodology playing a critical role in reaching operational apex.
