DPxDC Ignorantia Neminem Excusat
(Ignorance excuses no one, lat.)
"Commissioner."
Jim Gordon doesn't jump. They are years and years into this rodeo, he's stopped actually jumping at Batman's silent approach a long time ago. Yet, Bruce still notices the way his shoulders twitch just the tiniest bit, and his hand makes an aborted motion to his gun holster. Still got it.
The man turns around. Bruce can see the 'must you always do that?' in his slightly narrowed eyes. He presses his lips tightly together in order to not smirk: Batman doesn't do that, even if it's admittedly funny to see the seasoned Commissioner get spooked every time.
"There's a kid that wants to speak with you."
Bruce frowns. A kid that warranted a BatSignal? Not that he minds, but this is highly unusual for several reasons; however, Jim is not the kind of man that would fall for puppy eyes of any level, so it must be something more important than an autograph session or a victim of any of the recent cases.
Besides, the way Commissioner worded it implies that the kid, whoever they are, requested Batman specifically.
"He is a hacker," Jim puts both his hands in the pockets of his coat — he is either cold or uncomfortable, and Bruce highly suspects it's both. What's more, he starts to understand why. "I'm sure you're aware we were trying to track the person responsible for the few recent cyber attacks on GCPD servers," Jim glances at him, and Bruce nods. He is aware, yes, but the case was low-priority — it wasn't even an attack, really, someone just accessed the system foregoing the passwords and clearance levels, went through a few files, seemingly at random, and did a fairly decent job of hiding their traces. Bruce would have even thought it was Tim, if this happened a few years ago, when the boy was just learning the ropes.
Commissioner sighs and looks away, "But when we brought him in, the boy said he will only speak to you, and none of us have been able to make him say a word since." He pauses, a grim kind of expression on his face, "This was six hours ago."
Bruce is grateful for the way his cowl hides how his eyebrows raise. There are hundreds of scripts officers, detectives, and social workers can use to establish contact. Quite a lot of them could be attempted in the span of six hours.
Whatever the kid wants to tell him, Bruce decides it's worth a try. If not anything else, he can at least admire the sheer stubbornness.
—×—×—×—
The kid sitting in the interrogation room looks... younger than Bruce expected. Fifteen, maybe sixteen. He is dressed like any other homeless kid in Gotham — a hoodie and a jacket over it, jeans that look a size too big on him, sneakers with mismatched shoelaces — but he clearly hasn't been out in the streets for that long. His hair is braided into cornrows, and it looks professional, even if the roots have grown out so now it's just messy. What's more, he is missing that telltale wariness in his posture that Bruce has seen in every other street kid that has been brought into a police station. They always slouch and curl into themselves.
This boy is sitting with his back straight. Yet, there's a tension in his body that Bruce can only associate with a battle stance — give him the slightest reason, and the kid will lunge.
He steps into the room.
The boy — he hadn't given a name, and there wasn't a single ID on him — zeroes on him instantly. His eyes are a very pale, almost translucent green: a rather strange feature for a black-skinned person, genetically speaking, but Bruce doesn't dwell on it. Yet.
But then, the face recognition program comes up empty.
As in, 'there's not a trace of this person's prior existence' empty. Not a single camera footage, no records or reports of missing, no pictures, no social media, nothing. Bruce frowns.
"Hi," the kid says, his voice raspy, "My name is Tucker Foley. According to the government, I don't exist, so if your recognition program doesn't find anything on me, that's why."
Bruce doesn't say anything. Tucker wanted to speak with him, and previously, he was only merely intrigued by that request. However, as of right now, he wants to hear everything the kid has to say before asking any follow-up questions.
Because that always present, cautious and bordering on paranoid voice in the back of his mind tells him he is about to get into something way more serious than he expected.
Tucker moves — he kept both his hands on the table, palms open and visible, but now he closes one into a fist. Although, before Bruce can react to it, he opens it again. A small, the size of a flash-drive, dimly glowing green object rests inside.
"Do you know what this is?" The boy asks. He hasn't looked away from Batman's face once; Bruce is not even sure he blinked at all since he entered the room. Come to think of it, even with his tense, rigid posture, Tucker is too still, almost unnervingly so.
Bruce glances down to the boy's hand.
"Yes," he answers curtly, and there it is, the smallest shift in Tucker's face: he clenches his jaw like he's trying to hold the words inside his mouth. Bruce doesn't like it.
"What is it?" Comes the next question, but it's not curiosity that prompts it. It's a test of some sort. Bruce likes that even less.
"A power source," he decides on a neutral answer, not entirely certain what the boy is expecting to hear.
It seems to be a wrong answer because for the first time, Tucker's emotions slip from under his mask, and he takes a sharp breath in, looking like Bruce had just slapped him across the face. It lasts only a moment — Tucker closes his eyes for a moment, slowly exhales, and speaks again, calm and focused once more.
"And what exactly powers it?"
It's an important question, judging by the desperate, searching look in Tucker's eyes. His hands are not shaking, and there are no visible signs of distress, but for some reason, Bruce just knows that the boy's whole life seems to depend on the answer.
But.
"It's classified." Bruce doesn't take his eyes off the boy, but he still fails to see when he gets to his feet; the movement is quicker than the blink of an eye. All he knows is the aftermath of it, the screech of the chair legs on the floor and the loud slam of Tucker's palms on the table.
"Fuck the classified!" The boy yells, his face twisting in an awful mix of anger, hurt and a broken, terrified sort of hopelessness that almost breaks Bruce from the inside. "I need to know what they've told you, I have to- Tell me you think it's just a battery! Tell me you've never broke one to see what's inside, tell me you believe in science! They've showed you the research, didn't they?" Tucker's voice, so agonizingly different from the composed way he was talking before, breaks into a sobbing, almost hysterical laugh. His pale eyes are wide open and almost panicked, searching Batman's face for something he is not sure he can find.
"Tell me you've never seen one being made," this time, the boy doesn't yell, he whispers, his breath hitching and his knuckles white. "Please," he adds a moment later, and Bruce knows this kind of plea.
It's the plea of someone who is begging for the world to have mercy on them. A plea of a boy standing on their parents' grave, a plea of a man kneeled in front of his son's corpse.
Bruce swallows the bitter taste on the back of his tongue and takes a step closer. He sees the boy in front of him lean back and bend his knees, like bracing for impact, but he answers before any more misunderstandings can occur.
"I have seen the research. It provided enough information that I've never investigated further," he offers, and Tucker's shoulders slump like months and months of living in a constant state of fight-or-flight leaving his body all at once. Then, the boy's hands start trembling just slightly.
"Really?" He quietly asks, his eyes still glued to Batman, and there it is, the hesitant, uncertain hint of hope in his voice.
Bruce suddenly feels like not only this talk will be much, much worse than he ever feared, but also like in the end this will be another one of the things he will be blaming himself for. Things he could have prevented if he just tried a little harder.
"Really," he nods, taking a seat opposite from Tucker. "So explain what I've missed."
The boy keeps looking at him for a few more seconds, like trying to x-ray his thoughts for any sign of a lie. But then he blinks — for the first time, maybe — and rubs his face with his palm before all but dropping back in his own seat.
"Okay," he breathes out, evidently trying to collect himself and go back to the strong, focused self, "Okay."

Just remembered about the Vortex's lil guy au and decided to write a lil about it.
***
When the Justice League arrived to stop a newly risen villain's scheme, which involved taking holding an entire city hostage with the use of a machine that could control the weather, which also involved expanded after successfully taking over the city.
When they achieved victory, they did not expect a child to be powering the machine.
Shazam, surprisingly, was the first one to react. "Danny!?" He said as he flew over to the boy, gently picking him from the confines of the machine (after they it had been deactivated) and into his arms. "Danny...?" He said a moment later, unsure of himself as his voice wavered a bit.
He shook the boy a bit, not too hard though, so as not to do any accidental harm. Blearily, the boy blinked opened his eyes, staring up at Shazam's worried face. "Shazam?" He murmured, voice rough and scratchy, as if it wasn't used often.
Either this boy-Danny-didn't speak much beforehand, or he was trapped in that machine so long that his voice became like this from a long period of disuse.
Shazam seemed to have thought so as well, and by his expression, it seemed to be more of the later as he floated down beside the rest of the League.
Danny blinked slowly before looking around the area, eyes glancing over every member present, then his surroundings and then finally back to Shazam and, with a curious tilt of his head he simply asked. "Did I get possessed again?"
A wave of concern washed over the group at the way the boy so casually asked such a question. As if it happened often enough that he grew used to it and, if the 'again' was any indication, it might just be the case.
"No." Shazam shook his head, readjusting his hold on the boy as he started to try and wiggle himself out of his arms. "Are you okay?"
"Yep." Said Danny, not even taking a moment to consider the question. As if he didn't just come out of a machine that feed upon his powers for who knew how long. Shazam's eyes narrowed in a glare that could almost give the Bat's a run for his money.
"Danny." The Champion of Magic chided, and the boy's eyes glazed over for a moment as Shazam simply readjusted his hold again. A moment later the boy blinked, a small purse to his lips and the vaguest amounts of concern slipping onto his face. "Oh," The boy said, no longer trying to wiggle himself from Shazam's hold. "My magic is acting weird, that's not good."
"Well yea since you, you know, had your powers drained and all?" Green Lantern said, the end of his question dipping into a question as the boy turned his head in his direction with too empty eyes that, for some reason, unsettled him.
"Who're you?" He asked with passing interest.
Whatever unsettlement Green Latern felt, it was immediately replaced with the vaguest amount of offence as the boy's words somehow wounded his ego more than such a simple question should have once it registered.
Who then immediately proceeded to ignore him.
The boy then blinked again, turning to Batman and giving the man a small wave. "Hello again, Batman." The Dark Knight simply grunted in his direction and nodded. Then pointed to each and every member present and slowly called out their names.
"Wonder Woman, Superman, Martian Manhunter, " Both of the aliens names were whispered with an underlying awe. "The Flash and Aquaman." His finger than landed on Green Lantern, and the boy furrowed his brows. "So who're you?"
"How do you know spooky but not me?!" Green Lantern ignored the Bat's glare in his direction at the use of the nickname, wounded pride and genuine bafflement allowing him to do such a thing.
"We met before." Danny state simply, as if that was the answer to all questions. "You?" He asked again.
This could not get worse. Green Lantern thought.
It could get worse. Green Lantern realized a few moments later after trying-and failing-to get the boy to recognize him as the members present were snickering at his plight.
Even Wonder Woman was trying to hold down a smile.
His eyes accidentally wandered in Batman's direction to see his reaction and he let out a quiet sigh of relief to see the man unmoved with only the slightest amount of disappointment that he didn't crack. Though it was wildly overshadowed by his ego being salvaged-
Batman's lips quirked up into a smirk before falling so fast that he had trouble believing if it was even there in the first place.
Green Lantern's jaw dropped as he stared at the Bat incredulously, who simply stared back. Unmoved, like a stone. As if he didn't just smile at him.

There's a disturbance.
It started on a cold October day, magic users the world over felt the fabric of the universe shudder for but a moment before a sense of peaceful ease can be felt through their magics. Even the nonmagical power users felt something; Flash noticed a dramatic decrease in his speed, Poison Ivy losing control of her plants when she's not paying attention and Shazam's DivineTwitch Chat is going wild with a hype train.
This went on for nearly a month before most power users lost their powers completely; even superman was seen less often than he normally was! A team consisting of Batman, Shazam, Constantine, Wonder Woman, Poison Ivy and Aquaman to track down the source of the depowered beings. It takes them nearly a week to get a trail but they track it down to set of large purple double doors deep in space which open as they fly the ship closer. Once inside the doors closes and the team find themselves in the entryway of a giant castle, through the window is a vast expanse of swirling green which causes Constantine to swear.
Looking around they eventually hear a mans voice sounding like hes running around with things crashing. "Come on Nora, don't- Marina, please stop crying. Emma put your brother down, Myke stop antagonizing her! Gothi come on, help me here you're supposed to be the older sister. I don't know what to do!"
The team open the door to find a tall white hair man, casual clothes that held the universe of stars within their fabric, a small blonde girl under one arm practically vibrating in place until she falls through to the ground is suddenly behind them, another girl made of plants is holding up a large square grey boy who tries escape by writhing and throwing clouds of spores at the plant girl while another girl with red hair dressed in Atlantean garb crying over a fishbowl with a bright green glob of something in it. Gothi sits nearby giggling as she looks over the team.
Batman takes a look at each child, connections forming as he looks at each one; Nora Allen as a child, holding the power of the Flash, an Atlantean of some sort given how Aquaman is studying her cloths, the plant girl looks are similar to Poison Ivy's to a degree, the grey child looks like a minature Solomon Grundy and Gothi herself makes him feel like he's come home, alfred there waiting for him always ready.
The man turns around to find Nora and sees the heroes, "Ah shit, ok I know how it looks but it's not my fault." Nora pops up in different locations, repeating the new word she just learned, "No nonono, sweetie don't repeat that." _______________________________________________________
Or Danny's the ancient of space and his very presence gives corporeal form to the forces of the DC universe; Speed Force(Nora), Marina(The Blue/Clear), Myke(The Grey), Emma(The Green) and Gothi(gotham).

" i ran out of options. " MISS DONNA ?? / @proditeur
SO THIS WAS REGULUS. elusive, handy, known only from second hand stories REGULUS that donna had heard oh so much about. vouches from dick, stories from jason, it felt like regulus was in and out of so many moments donna was surprised to have missed. THEN AGAIN, with that crowd, they always did seem to run rather stealthy. she accepted that anonymity, she'd like to say, with grace. but even still: " it's nice to put a face to a name. " she smiled, nodding him in to her apartment and out of the busy new york street. LESS NICE, perhaps, than the reason why he was here. she had a highly suspicious feeling it had something to do with the four unanswered texts she'd sent to dick in the past week. the radio silence from jason, maybe. in their line of work a few check ins missed here and there was natural, maybe even good for the soul, but when an unknown face came knocking it usually wasn't the harbinger of heaven. after all, gotham always seemed to have a way of pulling it's recruits back in. she guided them in to the (small, but cozy) living room, motioning at the chairs absently, offering a seat. " i'm afraid i'm not a very good one. haven't heard from any gotham boys in at least a week. " last she'd heard dick was (pouty dick grayson voice here) HEADED BACK TO GOTHAM for something or other vaguely bruce-shaped. and donna hadn't heard anything about jason leaving the city in some time now. ergo: no news was bad news, she had no idea where to place them last except the ever-present threat that was gotham. and it's protectors. she frowned, thoughts lost in an endless stream of analyzing and over-analyzing any of the last times she'd spoken to them. donna's blue eyes flicker back up to her companion, having been lost in thought staring at her old, faded rug. the little seed of optimism that sounded vaguely like koriand'r reminding her she might've just made a couple of frightening correlations that might not even be true. " is this about dick or jason? "
#i like the idea of their first introduction being after like#u know how u know SO MUCH about ur friends friend#like just when theyre telling u how their weekend went or w/e like 'oh rachel and i went to the farmers market'#like those recurring side characters just being thrown into a buddy mission BONDING ADVENTURE#proditeur#* muse / donna tro.y.#* source / dc.#* queued !#friends of friends becoming friends. This reminds me of the extremely valid issues some people have with Alfred Pennyworth. I love that man, but, depending on the situation, he can be an enabler and bystander. If he actively chooses not to get involved with family drama and issues (especially between the adult [Bruce] and a child), then he is passively choosing to allow the abuse to happen.
He is an adult, he is older than Bruce, and he has a voice that Bruce might listen to. He sees (and, in Tim's 16th birthday's case, actively participates in) the horrible actions Bruce does against his sons. He still chooses to let the situation play out.
Inaction is a choice. Not choosing a side can be choosing a side.
“Jason should have ducked”
Jason gave Bruce a gun to shoot him with.
Jason gave him three options but there are only two results. Either Joker dies and Jason is left alive or Joker lives and Jason is too dead to care. That’s not an accident you have to understand.
It’s the most miserable “win if I win, win if I lose” I’ve ever seen set up and it worked. The neck slice moment isn’t just written for shock value it’s a demonstration of the truth of Jason’s point. Sometimes refusing to choose one over the other is just a choice for the other.
#jason todd#alfred pennyworth#bruce wayne#adult children are not complicit in their parents' abuse of their siblings because they still have no power in that situation#not choosing to kill the joker is the same as killing jason again#not choosing to intervene when your son abuses his kids is the same as giving permission to your son#obv not all source material for dc is the same

Multiverse in Gotham (again)
Danny could admit that since he discovered he could open portals on his own he had been a bit excited, and maybe he didn't think through the consequences.
After the third time he failed to close a portal in his own dimension and had to call Wulf, he thought maybe the scenario wasn't helping him, so he switched dimensions. The DC universe was weird enough to accept random portals opening and Clockwork seemed to agree with his reasoning, despite the obvious reproachful look he was sending him.
But it seemed that the Master of Time was letting him make his own mistakes, Danny hoped that was a good sign.
The problem was that he forgot the fact that Wulf was on vacation (his friend had warned him not to practice his power until he was back, but the halfa wanted to get better and surprise him) so he had no idea how to close all the portals he had opened.
That would be fine, if the other dimensions hadn't noticed the portals. Danny glanced nervously at the dinosaur, before shifting his gaze to the overgrown Batman and the female Joker. He grimaced, he was pretty sure they weren't from the dimension he was in.
Gotham had never had such a strange afternoon. Bruce was going crazy at all the signs of danger appearing in his city, though his system couldn't seem to find the source. He really hoped it wasn't a repeat of the Crisis on Infinite Earths.
For his part, Danny was still trying to close the portals when he heard someone clear their throat behind him. The halfa slowly turned to find Red Hood and Nightwing looking at him, both had their arms crossed and a look of disappointment on their faces (how did he know despite the masks? Danny had no idea).
"Would you believe me if I said it wasn't me?" Danny asked, hiding his glowing hands behind his back with a nervous laugh.

Ok but Jason is so for the whole Wayne Foster Project.
Like this is everything he hoped he could give back to society after getting adopted by B?
It's probably the whole reason he comes back to the family and is the thing that heals his and Bruce's relationship.
He might also help interview potential foster families, introduce potential ones that are crime alley and poor but love kids despite not being able to have any, or pointing out which homes need to have custody removed cause he's seen their kids suffering on the streets.
He probably sends his street kids there, ensuring that siblings and families both found and biological can stay together.
All the kids with shit parents but can't/shouldn't stay on the street, he sends there.
Not every child, cause children, especially these children, deserve the freedom of choice, and sometimes they want to stay on the street where they can protect and provide for family, cause it's still family, even if they're broken and have hurt them, he knows that (he's lived that)
It's better that he doesn't betray their trust and that they come to him when they're in trouble, than that he betrays it and they break out of the foster homes and lose then to the streets.
He understands that, even if the rest of his family can't.
He understands provided and protecting family even though they don't deserve it, even though they've hurt him.
He did it for his mom, he did it for both of them.
It's the reason why he died.
It's the reason why he still loves his siblings, still loves Bruce, even though they've hurt each other.
That is to say, he understands Danny.
He can guess what he's doing.
He might not know the full extent of it, but he can guess that he's probably trying to protect his parents.
He's not going to support that, as they've clearly hurt him in ways no parent should, no person should, and he hates that, he knows what it feels like, even if what happened to him was not as invasive and long lasting as what might have happened to Danny, and it makes him want to rip their throats out and crush every bone in their body, cause they don't deserve Danny's love...
But he understands what it's like, and he respects it.
He has to, or he could push Danny away before he can teach him that they are no longer family, that even if they were, it is not enough to forgive them, it is not enough to protect them.
They don't deserve that.
Danny doesn't deserve to have to hurt himself because of them.
He can love them still, (heavens know he still loves them) but that doesn't mean he should protect them.
He can forgive them, (heavens know he's forgiven them) but that doesn't mean he should forget what they did and let them hurt him again.
He can consider them family, but do they truly consider him the same? Do they care for him as they should? They say he's their son, but do they act like it?
What defines protection?
What defines family?
What makes family worthy protection?
If family has hurt family, what can you protect?
What will you protect?
It will take time, Jason knows.
But he can wait forever for his little brother to give him the go ahead to rip his parents to shreds.
He's Family after all.
Heavens know he would die for Family.
Dp x Dc AU: Bruce has a 'if you can't beat them, join them' mentality about the tabloids claiming he adopts too many kids- Developing foster homes that are paid for through the Wayne inheritance, personally vetted by the Bats, they're the leaders in the space for child health outcomes and family placement. Insert Danny.
---
Bruce has too much wealth, too many rumors and not enough reach into the abhorrent foster homes around Gotham to improve them. Tim ends up being the one to suggest it- He's the one who buys up their real estate for their safe houses after all- and Bruce is more than ready to pull the metaphorical trigger to get new clean welcoming spaces, Bat-background checked fosters and a new era of adoption in Gotham underway.
He's lobbied the state and the federal government for reforms of course, but this is a project he can micromanage. He spends time with every kid that comes through, talks with all the families that want to adopt and makes sure that these miniature homes are provided only the very best. Alfred personally hires all the staff, and with Barbara more than happy to help relocate the unhoused children she spots while they patrol, the project is a glowing success.
Occasionally, spots in their houses fill up, and those are the weeks were Cass takes on the Cowl of Batman- Bruce Wayne will personally invite a child in need to his home. He always has one of his kids present (they rotate on a pre-determined schedule) and he does his best to try and get them to understand that they deserve the world, have all the potential that anyone else has and can achieve a bright future. That he will personally aid them in their ambitions.
PR goes crazy for it of course, but Bruce and all of his children know its genuine. Almost too genuine, because a betting pool 'WILL THEY BE ADOPTED' regularly circulates between the siblings and the entire JL when someone spends time at the manor. And not just the black-haired, Blue-eyed kids get picked as favored outcomes- but obviously the running joke gets passed around.
It's a Thursday night when Bruce gets the call that the houses have once again filled up, and that there is a child in need of a home. The social worker (he knows her as Marsha and he has flowers planned to be sent on her birthday next week, like he does for all of his employees) (Say micromanaged one more time) explains that the kid is a bit cagey but has opened up with some humor. She explains that he has a few strange... mannerisms. She's not sure what to make of him, a non-gothamite for sure but something is, well, distinctly 'not from around here' about his energy.
Danny arrives at the house, meets Duke and Alfred, and by the time Bruce meets him at the dinner table it seems as though Marsha had it all wrong. This kid was laughing, he was teasing, he was totally playing along like he'd gone through nothing. Bruce is glad he's in high spirits but its just so... so different from all the other children he's taken in.
Bruce re-focuses on the conversation when Duke mentions something flashing, and its the first time that Danny goes quiet. Entirely still.
"...you noticed that?" Danny quietly asks, a bit of disbelief in his tone.
"You don't have a flashlight on or something do you? It was super bright whatever it is that you had in your hand a second ago?" Duke tries to sound chill but he's looking very much not chill. Bruce saw nothing, and that puts him further on edge.
"Look... I uh, I've been though... I've been through a lot lately. And the last lab I was in kind of, messed with me. I'm normally much better at dealing with it all, I promise." Danny sounds nervous, and the room seems to chill.
"Ah shoot, sorry." Danny notices something and frantically apologizes.
"Sorry for what Danny? You've done nothing wrong but I am worried about you- You said you were in a lab?" Bruce is desperately trying to calm him down while not slipping into Batman interrogation mode.
"Uh, yeah, like a lot of labs. It should get warmer in a second, its just cause I startled, I promise."
"You're a meta." Duke speaks softly and with hope in his voice- Danny is looking between them with wide eyes filled with fear.
"I mean I don't technically have the gene-"
"Danny, have you told any of your case workers where you were? Do any authorities know what you've been through?" Bruce needs to know, desperately, that who ever gave this young boy super powers is brought to justice. Danny goes quiet.
"I'm really sorry." He says softly, but he doesn't leave them.
Duke and Bruce try to ask a few more questions but the silence that meets them declares the conversation over, even with Duke admitting he himself is a meta. Danny didn't even look up from his plate. They watch a movie after dinner, and Danny seems to get back to the smile-y happy guy he had been before dinner.
Each of the bat-fam have their own interactions with Danny- And even if they're getting along amazingly, Danny won't open up. He doesn't open up to his provided therapist. Doesn't talk to Alfred. No one knows what's up.
So when Marsha calls Bruce back explaining they now have a spot for Danny and he can move out of the Manor... Bruce replies that he'd like to get started on Adoption paperwork, so long as Danny is fine with it.
---
Turns out, Danny is fine with it. he's both the newest Wayne and their newest case. (And godamnit, his new family is going to avenge him. If only he'd let them try.)
Danny figures out that Duke= Signal early on because of that dinner, and if he's going to keep his parents out of jail, he needs to be as close to the investigation as possible. He knows that he shouldn't protect the Fentons, but he feels the upset in his core at the thought of letting them befall any harm. He has to protect them. Has to protect Jazz and her hiding spot as a mole within their lab. Has to.
Even if it meant lying to his new family who loves him, and who he loves in equal return. Even if it means lying to The Bats.
---
Tabloids go crazy about the black-haired blue-eyed thing of course, but no poll was ever taken by the batfam or the JL who know the whole story.

DP x DC prompt [15]
Danny accepts that because of his half dead status he won't be able to become an astronaut and he has to find a different way to feed his space obsession.
He decides to get really into astromancy (yes, the magic. He already knows everything about astronomy). He gets himself the more spiritual star charts, old surprisingly authentic tomes about the art and divination cards to go with it all and gets to learning.
Tbh he kind of went into this not expecting much but it turns out he had homo magus heritage from his Nightingale roots and he actually manages to call upon the power of the stars.
He figures he can blame the vaporized wall on ghosts.
Meanwhile, a foreboding feeling like cold shivers run down the spines of several magic users that they can only describe as "a child having figured out they need to switch off the safety on their mini nuke launcher in order to fire it"
The JLD is scrambling to locate the source of the surge in magic power before someone with bad intentions can get there.

Batkids finding out that batmom was a model, a famous one
FASHION FASHION ( bruce wayne!)

summary: Your kids are bored and discover your secret past, and a somewhat strange secret from their father.
pairing: Bruce wayne x fem! model reader
note: the characters don't really stick to the personality they have, but I liked how it turned out so, sorry I'm not sorry
open request - dc masterlist
It all started as a harmless search.
The kids were bored. A night with no missions, no emergencies, no chaos. Just the rain pounding against the windows of Wayne Manor and an awkward silence that none of them wanted to fill with real questions. So when Dick suggested going up to the attic, they all agreed with childish enthusiasm.
"Alfred said not to go up," Tim muttered, holding the flashlight.
“Alfred says that about everything funny,” Jason replied, already perched on some crates.
"What are you looking for, exactly?" Damian asked, arms crossed. "Dirt?"
"Something interesting," Dick replied, with a mischievous smile as he opened a dusty old trunk. "And probably some of Bruce's dark secrets."
The others gravitated toward it like magnets. The boxes had no labels, but were sealed with a leather strap cracked by age. Tim carefully opened one, as if it were a fragile relic, and inside they found… papers, envelopes, folders, and something even more striking: old magazines.
"What the...?" Steph muttered, taking one of them.
It was a Vogue Paris cover. The issue featured a striking young woman with familiar eyes, shining with a power that pierced the page. She wore a dark dress, her hair pulled back, and her expression was one of absolute elegance.
Damian silently flipped through an album until he stopped on a particular page. His eyebrows furrowed. "What is this?" causing everyone to stop what they were doing.
It was from a different box. More personal, there were letters, printed articles, old photos. The most striking one was one of Bruce and Batman's wedding, both young, you younger than him, but he looked at you almost dazzled. And beneath the photo was a note in Alfred's handwriting: "You always had a soft spot for her, even before you met her. It was only a matter of time."
Everyone fell silent. Even Jason, who muttered, "What the hell?"
Tim cleared his throat, smoothing out the crumpled paper before beginning to read. The page had yellowed edges, as if it had been stored away for years. The title at the top was from an old celebrity magazine, one of those tabloids Bruce would now despise but had clearly, once upon a time, collected.
—“The tastes of Gotham’s heir: who is the model stealing young Wayne’s attention?” Tim read aloud.
The boys looked at each other, confused.
"Model?" Damian asked. "Who are they talking about?"
Tim looked down. His eyes widened at a photo. It was Batmom, young, walking down a runway in a scarlet evening gown, elegant, unstoppable. Beside her, another photo of Bruce, even younger, smiling as he got out of a car, with that rich boy smile that bore no resemblance to the man they knew now.
—“Sources claim that the Wayne heir has a fixation with the model of the moment. He's been seen on more than one occasion with magazines where she appears on the cover, and some insiders claim he has a photo of her in his office. Obsession or admiration? Time will tell if Gotham's most eligible bachelor will dare to approach the icon who has him fascinated.”
Jason let out an incredulous laugh. “Mom was Bruce’s celebrity crush!?”
"For God's sake, Mom was a model" Dick said, still surprised.
And there it was: a photo of Batmom walking the red carpet at Cannes. And another of Bruce, maybe twentyfour years old, leaving the company with a fashion magazine folded under his arm, and the magazine showed a close up of the cover showing your face.
“Oh. My. God,” Steph said.
—This is like... when someone marries their celebrity crush... Only he did it —said Tim
“Bruce was in love with Mom… before he met her,” Dick said, as if that reshaped his entire family history.
"That's cute…" Steph murmured as she looked through all the magazines.
"He seems more like a freak to me" Jason added, though he seemed secretly impressed.
Just then, the sound of soft, steady footsteps interrupted the silence. Alfred appeared in the attic entrance, his calm, unmistakable demeanor.
And as if fate had known it, Alfred's firm footsteps were heard ascending the attic stairs. "I knew curiosity would win" he said, without raising his voice too much. "Although I expected it to be a few years ago, all detectives were quite slow to see..."
"So you knew? That Mom was Bruce's teenage fantasy?"
Alfred raised an eyebrow, picking up a magazine from the floor with two fingers as if it were a crystal goblet. "I prefer the term 'admiration.' Although... yes, I knew it. I knew it from the first day he walked in with a copy of Harper's Bazaar under his arm, feigning interest in an article about Swiss watches."
"That's beyond pathetic," Damian said, a little disappointed in his father.
Then Bruce's firm, heavy footsteps were heard on the wood of the staircase.
Everyone froze.
"What are you doing?" he asked, his voice low but firm, seeing the chaos of magazines, clippings, and letters.
"So you had an obsession with Mom?" Tim shot back, not missing a beat.
"A whole collection of magazines?" Steph continued, holding one up. "Bruce, this is teen crush level."
"How did we not know this before?" Dick looked somewhere between fascinated and disappointed in himself.
Damian, still in his sour tone, crossed his arms. "I thought you were pathetic in other ways. This is new."
Bruce sighed, closing his eyes for a second. "Why were you rummaging through private things?"
"We were bored. It's Dick's fault," Jason said quickly.
"Alfred knew it," Steph accused, pointing to the butler, who had just calmly brought up a tray of teacups as if it were all part of the service.
Alfred didn't even flinch. "Of course I knew. Master Bruce had a poster of her hidden away. I discovered it once when I went to get the laundry."
"Alfred!" Bruce growled in disbelief.
"im sorry master Bruce"
"A poster?" Jason asked, raising his eyebrows with a mischievous grin. "I don't want to know what you were doing with that."
"Jason!" several people shouted at the same time, between laughs and groans.
"It was a different time" Bruce tried to defend himself, though he knew it was useless. "i didn't do anything. I had it because i admired her work. End of story."
"Sure, sure," Tim murmured. "The art. The talent. The... four foot ten legs."
"TIM!" they all shouted at once.
"So Mom was your celebrity crush?" Tim said, amused. "And you married her? That's legendary."
"It wasn't exactly like that," Bruce began, but broke off when your silhouette appeared in the doorway.
"What are you doing with my magazines?" you asked, a mixture of amusement and resignation.
The kids turned around as if they had been caught stealing.
“Investigating your hidden past” Jason said, waving a magazine like it was classified evidence.
"Confirming theories," Tim added, still holding a photo. "Like, Dad was completely in love with you before he even met you."
"And that he had a hidden poster," Damian added, his voice dry. "Disgusting."
"I didn't want to know that, by the way," Steph continued, raising a hand. "But now it's etched in my mind forever."
Bruce put a hand to his forehead, muttering something unintelligible.
"And you found this, Alfred?" you asked with a smile, looking at the butler, who was still holding an untouched cup of tea.
"I was just providing some historical context," Alfred replied, unperturbed. "And perhaps I remembered certain... details."
Bruce looked at you with a silent intensity. The same as always. As if he still couldn't believe that that woman from the magazines was standing in front of him, every day, in a bathrobe, drinking coffee and scolding her children for not setting the table.
"Come on. I'll show you something better than magazine clippings."
You led them downstairs to the main room. You opened a small, decorative-looking wooden box. From it, you took out an old flash drive. "I thought this would get lost over time," you said, plugging it into the TV.
You led them into the living room. You connected an old external hard drive to the TV screen. You didn't explain anything. You just pressed "play."
And there you were.
A young you. Walking down a runway in Milan. The camera followed you as if you were the only person in the world. Fashion shows, interviews, covers. The music, the flashes, the unstoppable aura. A version of you your kids had never seen.
Not as a mother, not as Bruce Wayne's wife. But as yourself. Strong, brilliant, and unforgettable.

Health Code Violation- DC x DP prompt
"Hold on there. You're not permitted beyond this point." The floating teenage boy said as he tucked his clipboard under his arm.
After a battle with another world-ending villain Superman was killed in action and after a short debate the decision to revive him using the Lazarus Pit was made. However, the league members who were carrying his body to the pit didn't expect it to be blocked off with caution tape. A teenage boy with stark white hair and wearing a hard hat and orange construction vest.
"What are you doing out here kid? And what is with the tape?" Barry asked shifting Clark's heavy ass body from crushing him.
"I'm here to take a look at the leak." He said pointing a thumb in the direction of the green pit.
"The leak?" Diana echoed in confusion.
"Yeah, your planet has a leak. A few actually. Our realm hasn't been managed well and now that the old king is gone we need to fix some things. Right now the leaks need to be sealed." He said. "Also what's with the dead guy?"
"We were bringing him to the Lazarus Pit to revive him." Barry said blankly.
The teen shook his head in astonishment almost dropping his clipboard.
"You are what?! With the what?!"
"The Lazarus pit...?" Hal laughed nervously his face in a half-quirked smile.
"You call it a Lazarus Pit? Guys this is a pool of contaminated ectoplasm. Basically sewage. This thing is full of dead people juice. All those leftover emotions and obsessions are stewing in there. You toss that body in these pool and you'll make a revenant full of anger. It doesn't even have an ecosystem to cleanse it. It's like stagnant water." The teen said waving his pen around before pausing "Wait a minute....you people have been using it? No wonder it's so polluted! What is wrong with you?! Are you trying to contaminate your planet? Do you want zombies?"
It was kind of weird to be scolded by a kid, for everyone but Bruce. He thought of a more pragmatic approach. He didn't like the pit but he acknowledged it's usefulness.
"I understand. But we do want to save our friend and the only way is to use the pit."
"That's a big ask. The pit is one thing but bringing back the dead willy nilly? ...But I guess that's my domain now.. "
The teen mumbled to himself before sighing.
"Look, I want to help. I really do. But the pit is unstable and there are many more on this planet with the same issue. We can't risk an apocalypse and the chance they get into the wrong hands. This is for the safety of your planet." The teen said as mannerly as possible as he dismissed the heros.
"Come on, please. Our friend is dead. You don't want our friend to die." Barry said pleadingly.
"Very mature of you. A bit of shame might help you...alright fine but don't badger me again." The silver-haired being said taking out a small syringe and taking a sample of his own blood.
"It's diluted compared to the pure stuff but 10x stronger than the stuff in the pool. It's safer and once he's kicking again it'll drain out of his system." He tossed the needle to Barry and returned to taking samples of the pit. "This biohazard requires an ecologist. I'll have to import some blob feeders to clean up the toxins. Then either seal this up or link it to the network. But these dumb mortals are just going to keep dumping bodies into it."
The teen mumbled to himself as he tried to find a solution.
A week later all the Lazarus pits had disappeared. The Al Ghuls were scrambling as the source of their powers dried up.
Clark was alive and feeling better than ever. No pit rage at all.
Eventually the boy returned.
"I had a talk with the ancients and they agreed to let you have one ecto pool. Only one thought and it has to be managed by me. As long as you don't try abusing it by going into it while alive or not asking permission I'll allow you to use it. Also, be mindful of my cleaning wisps, they work very hard to keep the natural flow of the ecto cycle going." The teen said holding up a green little ghost blob and petting it.

The Undead Shop Owner
DP x DC Prompt
The shop, Nightingale Services, has been around since the start of Batman's Vigilante work. The owner, Daniel Altair, is a young man who has stayed looking like he is in his early 20s, despite the many years that had passed, with the appearance of the newest Stabby Robin, Nightingale Services is going ti he requested by the Bat to help with training him, like with all the other times he was requested to do so with the other birdies and sidekicks and the Bat himself.
The Bats and even the Rogues of Gotham had tried to figure out who Daniel Altair was before he came to Gotham. When the Metahumans started appearing, the Gothamites just thought that Daniel Altair was a meta with powers related to aging, none of them questioned his pale skin, sharp fangs, and a Thermos that's always filled with a red liquid.
Nightingale Services is a neutral zone, given that Daniel Altair has stated so many times while escorting beaten goons, rogues, and occasionally a vigilante in the past, the most memorable ones were Daniel tossing the Joker in a dumpster after the Clown tried to do something to the store owner, and Batman being calmly escorted off of Daniel's property with a warning, with Batman having some visible injuries, despite the night just starting that day.
Danny had escaped his home, leaving it for the Infinite Realms/Ghost Zone, and found his way to a new dimension. His parents didn't accept him being a Halfa. He wanted Jazz, Sam, and Tucker to be with him, but they had to stay behind to keep his parents and the GIW from trying anything.
He changed his last name to Altair, the brightest start in the Aquila constellation, and opened a store that would help fulfill his obsession, Nightingale Services. He would basically offer almost any type of service, cleaning, tutoring, business advice, managing group efforts he is paid to do, and training are some of them.
His first year in the new dimension had his biggest event being the Batman coming after him because of falsified evidence the Penguin left that painted Danny as the culprit for smuggling illegal stuff into Gotham. After that, Danny used some of his Ghost King inheritance to buy the Iceberg Lounge from the Penguin. He still has it, but the Penguin has a fraction of the place to earn some money from it when the Penguin stopped his attempts at ruining the new life Danny had after Danny showed the Penguin that he can and will kill the man if it continues, which he rewarded the man with the partial ownership of the Iceberg Lounge.
Then the Joker tried to get him to do things that would go against his obsession the next year. When he rejected the Jokers job offer, he had to beat up the Joker and tossed him into the dumpster next to his store.
Danny learned from Clockwork that his body is still connected to his home dimensions time flow, so he ages a lot slower in his new home, and the fact that he is compared to a vampire by the Hero community doesn't really bother him, he already proved he isn't one of the malevolent ones with the help from a British Magician that is the source of his headaches from his Ghost King paperwork.
Danny had to deal with each new batfamily member when they appeared. He gave closure to both Bruce and Dick with their parents, gave Jason a charm that would protect him from a fatal incident, gave Barbara a concoction that could heal any wound, slightly messed with Tim whenever the kid tried to learn about his past, out pranked Stephanie whenever she tried to prank him, plays a version of tag with Cassandra that involves them both sneaking up on each other, gave Duke some advice for his powers, and now he is tasked with both being a training instructor to Damian and getting the kid to be less high and mighty about himself.
