One of the reasons I want Morpherine to be canon is for tumblrs reaction. I want to see my rarepair trend the way Poolveribe did (it was a rare pair until the movie). I wanna see homophobes getting mad that the most masculine character in the show is a "queer" like he didn't date Hercules in one comic. I wanna see the reactions of the like, 12 Morpherine shippers who shipped them before it was canon and SHIT their pants when they scream about it on tumblr. I want to see the ao3 fics for them increase. I want to see Morph become a more popular character after it.

But, that relies on Disney and Marvel not being homophobic and wanting to torture Logan with the Jean & Scott love triangle for 8 more seasons, so it probably won't happen

of course they're toxic they're both deranged and terrible and that's why they're perfect for each other.

cuz like omg you think mizu would treat you well? mizu would abandon you. look at how she left ringo multiple times. ringo who treats her so well and is nothing but patient and caring and loyal. if you are insecure she will laugh at you because she has no social tact. look at how mikio said "it's a stupid dream" talking about his ambitions of regaining his honour and mizu straight up chuckles and tells him he's right because it IS a stupid dream. and at this point their relationship was cordial and she was even warming up to him!

like. arguably, taigen would be a better romantic partner (per the ideals of his time and culture of course), or at least he would be on paper. cuz i mean as a husband, as he is now, i think he'd be awful. but i'm talking about if you and him were dating or courting or just seeing each other romantically, he would be good to you. like we saw how he behaved with akemi and he was nothing but sweet and gentle. the very reason akemi wanted to marry him so bad was because she KNOWS without a doubt that he respects women and would treat her well. "oh but he cheated on her with the prostitutes while celebrating his engagement!" yeah but per the norms of the time and place, it was not considered cheating and akemi (as well as any wife or romantic partner of that period) would not have minded or even cared.

and yes taigen IS an asshole and he IS obnoxious but come on. so is mizu, if she is allowed to act like herself around you. mizu will tease you and mock you and challenge you and even poke at your insecurities (see:her goading mikio on even though he clearly did not view her teasing as light-hearted banter and took it all very personally). she would tell you to your face if she thinks you're being annoying (see:mizu rolling her eyes and telling akemi to straight up just "shut up" when she'd believed mizu had killed taigen).

mizu is not merely a hot and talented badass with a sword and the insane hyperfocus on her desire for revenge which literally drives her to withstand like, extreme amounts of damage and survive it. mizu is also flawed and the show does a good job at showcasing this, and showing us that she's not merely a victim but also a multilayered person. we see throughout that mizu is blunt and sarcastic and prideful.

oh what's that? oh right, very similar to taigen, who is also hot and talented with a sword and with insane hyperfocus on his desire to duel mizu and regain his honour. taigen who is also flawed (though, arguably, more so) as he is blunt and sarcastic and prideful.

the only thing that sets mizu and taigen apart is the fact that taigen is a man and is not mixed race, which thus affects their positions in society and how people perceive them. these are external factors. taigen being a boy who is not blue-eyed allowed him to easily mingle with the other kids in the village, all of whom were similarly fed the same prejudiced values which led them to gang up against mizu and bully her.

but take all that away. strip them down to the bare essentials. suddenly it's like they are the same person copy and pasted.

and that's what makes them even more interesting. yes absolutely they would be toxic. whatever souls are made of, mizu's and taigen's are the same (derogatory). and we literally see them fight all the time!!!! but the thing is they are both deranged when it comes to this.

do you get me. they both literally get turned on by sparring. mizu's whole spar with mikio was her way of flirting. just look at how she smirked at him and said "unsheathe it" like it's clear that this is an innuendo of not just unsheathing his weapon but also what's in his pants. then during the chopsticks fight with taigen in the snow, despite mizu literally being injured and taigen trying to attack her, mizu gets attracted to him. meanwhile taigen got a boner after wrestling with her in the forge.

taigen goes around saying he wants to kill mizu to regain his honour but he still literally risks life and limb for her constantly. mizu gives ringo stomach ulcers by going around flinging herself into near-death situations 24/7. she ups and leaves her beloved swordfather with barely a goodbye twice to pursue her batshit far-fetched quest for revenge (against people she doesn't even KNOW btw because she literally starts off with practically No Leads and not even knowing the NAMES of the white men who are her maybe-fathers).

these bitches are crazy and you know what good for them. that shit needs to be contained and quarantined though and that's why in that sense they would be good together.

i want to put them both in a jar and shake it very hard and see what happens. personally i think they will argue and insult each other while working perfectly in sync with each other to break out of the jar and then proceed to kill me and make out sloppy style over my dead body while they're both covered in blood.

AU Mona and Bill Facts

Bill and Mona go on hunting trips as dates where they camp out in the forest during deer season where they just survive off whatever they find

Their relationship is open, but they don't ever go into polygamy since they're only romantically interested in one another

They're both pansexual, but identify as straight due to convenience

Bill owns two cell phones: one for his family and the other for Mona. He did this after several incidents where he texted his wife responses made for Mona. To keep her suspicion at bay, he bought a second prepaid phone under his name.

Mona used to live in homeless women's shelters and halfway homes before dating Bill. Once they were together for a few months, he decided to buy her an art studio under her name in hopes this will help her kickstart her art career. 

Mona goes through state mandated therapy sessions where she is somewhat beginning to work on her childhood trauma and BPD/NPD.

Bill is only still with Mia for the appearance. He knows that divorcing her would look suspicious, especially with him handling Mona's case most of the time. He also gets off over how needy and desperate his wife is for his affection once he begins to distance himself from her.

Bill was raised by parents who spoiled him as a child and defended him tooth and nail. They bailed him out of sticky situations multiple times due to them being higher middle class. His mother hates Mia and makes sure she knows how little she appreciates her time when they have family events.

Bill never liked his children. He thought he would grow into loving them, but that never happened. He found himself snapping at Mia whenever his children woke him up in the night and would only spend time with them once he ran out of excuses.

Mona begged and pushed Bill into getting her a therapy dog (as per her therapist's request) and she treats that thing like gold. It's a pitbull mix with a cow type pattern that sticks to her side no matter what. Bill is partial towards the dog, mostly because it's owned by Mona.

Bill and Mona get into fights….a lot. Mona will split on Bill a lot due to her being afraid of him leaving her or if he's going against the plan she had in her head. She'll blow up his phone at work which causes him to explode once he gets home. They get into screaming matches and are somewhat physical (mostly pushing and scratching with it mainly coming from Mona), so they tend to get noise complaints a lot.

Despite Bill refusing to spend a single dime on Mia, he doesn't mind spending his paycheck on Mona. Usually he buys her clothes, art supplies, books, computer parts, food, and drugs. He even took from his child's college fund to help support his girlfriend.

Mona never stops using once dating Bill, but instead uses much more safely than before. She also has a cutdown on heroin as per Bill's request. She smokes a pack daily and does meth on the weekends.

Mona won't fully admit it, but she wants to marry Bill. She'll "jokingly" send photos of cute, small weddings and women in wedding suits to Bill. He is beyond hesitant over marrying her since, not only will that compromise his job and he's still married to his wife, but he isn't a big fan of being legally bound to someone. He enjoys how casual their relationship is currently.

Despite them being horrible with showing affection, they would give each other pet names like "Babe" and "Honey". Bill will catch himself from saying those phrases when he and Mona are in the office.

If it wasn't a threat to his job, Bill would be open about dating Mona. He has always wanted to bring her to small, office events and have casual dates at places like coffee shops and movie theaters.

Bill cannot feel empathy with him, at most, feeling pity for people. Mona is pretty much the only person he sympathizes with and will find some sort of solution to comfort her when she's at her lowest. He also talks her through her worst depression episodes and when she expresses the desire to commit suicide.

Neither of them wear protection so they have given each other various STIs and STDs after sleeping around. The only contraceptive they have is a Nexplanon in Mona's arm since no way are they having kids anytime soon.

Even though she currently can't, Mona wants kids in the future. She wants to give a kid a life better than what she had, but she isn't close to mentally sound enough to care for a child. Bill doesn't care either way and would only like it if the child comes out as a spitting image of their mother.

I love Season 3 of Bridgerton so much (Part 2)

I loved Colin and Penelope's story. The Lady Whistledown reveal, the angst, oh, it was perfection. I thought the mirror scene was immaculate and just nailed their friends-to-lovers vibe perfectly. Also, Colin asking for consent at each step is so hot, but we digress. The whole of part 2 had me stressing, with all the Whistledown angst, but I did desperately enjoy the fact that despite how angry Colin was, there was never any doubting his love for Penelope, like they got married and he stroked her fac during their wedding dance (which was another wonderful scene) while he was still upset. This is true Colin 'My Wife' Bridgerton behaviour. Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan did amazingly well in their roles, particularly in the most heated and emotional moments. Penelope was wonderful as well, the fact that she was willing to give up Whistledown was so important, but the way it ended, with her not having to give it up was even better, in my opinion. It helps the show maintain its natural dynamic with the narrator in Julie Andrews, while neatly bringing the Whistledown storyline to a close. Also, the ending, with Polin's son inheriting the Featherington estate has pulled that storyline to a close as well, with the Featheringtons properly secured. I enjoyed the growth that both Colin and Penelope went through in Part 2 and it felt like a natural continuation from Part 1, although Debling did just kinda vanish.

Speaking of disappearing suitors, Lord Samadani also vanished after Part 1. I think this was able to happen because Queen Charlotte became so entangled with Whistledown, she stopped caring about the Season and the Diamond, otherwise she may have tried to push Lord Samadani at Francesca a little more. Francesca and John were just beautiful in Part 2, their engagement and wedding was sweet and low-key and fit them both perfectly. I was pleased to see that Francesca flourished with John and she in turn, was able to help him become a little more comfortable among her chaotic family. Francesca is also my bi-icon. I will love her forever. The definition of Gay Panic when Michaela Stirling walks in. I do like that Francesca teaches Violet that love does not always have to be exactly as she experienced it, and Violet explains how she fell in love, which we see happen for Francesca when Michaela walks in. I think Francesca is still in love with and happy with John, she's just had her bi-awakening and does not know what to do about it.

Speaking of bi-icons, Benedict Bridgerton has finally, properly entered the ring after 2.5 seasons of humming and harring. While I was not the biggest fan of the fact that it was introduced via a threesome that just kept popping up between heartfelt or emotional scenes, I am glad the writers committed to it, even though when push came to shove, Benedict avoided the commitment and ran away, again. I think his season is next due to his chats with Eloise right at the end of the season (swing chats, my beloved).

Eloise did well in Part 2. Her anger was mostly as a protection for Colin and I was pleased to see her mature and grow into an adult. She and Penelope had some beautiful growth, with Eloise learning that while Whistledown was not necessarily kindly written, it did not lie and Penelope had tried warning Eloise multiple times about hanging around Theo. Penelope also had growth in being willing to give up Whistledown which I think helped Eloise's understanding significantly and also with her promise to write more carefully in the future. I was so pleased to see the two of them being friends again. I had missed them. I also think that a trip to Scotland will help Eloise expand her horizons, possibly allowing her to understand the ton a little more as well, preparing her for her story in Season 5 I hope. I do however think that Eloise's treatment of Cressida was a little callous, but she can't win them all.

Cressida is an interesting one. Personally I am still not her greatest fan, however, seeing why she was so desperate to escape did bring motive to her claiming Whistledown's identity, even if it was not the most well thought out plan. Jessica Madsen did an excellent job with providing depth and clarity to Cressida's story and I will be at least a little interested to see where it goes from here. Also, reading what the Cowpers thought of the Bridgertons was truly shocking (and hilarious) and you can see that Cressida's mean girl persona comes from her mum, solidified by her dad's pressure.

Queen Charlotte did exceptionally well for me this season. I could truly feel the power she weilds and how dangerous it would be to go up against her so blatantly as Whistledown had. I did appreciate Lady Danbury basically telling QC that her life would become infinitely more boring if she were to truly put an end to Whistledown and Brimsley with QC is an unstoppable duo, particularly after QC:ABS.

Lady Danbury, another highlight of the season. Her scenes with Marcus Anderson and with Violet are among some of my favourite in the whole show and I'm gonna use another post to talk about Violet and Marcus and Agatha, because this post is ridiculously long and I could talk about this particular plot for days. I was pleased to see Agatha helping the Mondrichs get settled and happy to know that she had suspected Penelope was Lady Whistledown. It makes sense, as she is the most perceptive in the ton. I was a little upset that we didn't get to see much of Polin and Lady Danbury interacting, but I can see why. It almost felt more powerful for it to just be them trying to figure out their problems together.

The Mondrichs. I enjoyed their story, it was good, nice to see them get settled into society once and for all. It felt like a natural conclusion from the three season with them hosting a successful ball for the season.

The Featheringtons, I will admit, they impressed me. Their ball was a success, and their comedic timing was immaculate once more. Seeing the development that Penelope and Portia went through was excellent and very much needed for Penelope to have a healthy relationship with Portia. I enjoyed that Portia stayed true to her word and stuck by Penelope during the LW reveal etc. But I was also amazed by Colin's speech when Portia was insulting Penelope in Ep5, because those assumptions were rude and insulting to Penelope and to Colin and she needed to be brought down a few pegs in order to develop properly. It was also nice to see the three sisters getting along, to an extent, in the final scene. I also though that Violet and Portia were excellent together. Props to Ruth Gemmell and Polly Walker for somehow managing to infuse so much awkwardness into the 5 minutes they shared on screen, simple and pure comedy, I loved it. Also pleased to see that the Featherington boys continue to be Husbands first and men second.

Also Kanthony was nice, glad to see them helping Colin out. Violet really brought in the heavy artillery for her fighting newly-weds. Also pleased to see Kate take on the older sister role and Anthony literally being the most besotted man on the planet.

Gregory and Hyacinth were also excellent. I feel like the sibling scenes really thrived in part 2.

272 AC – King’s Landing, Crownlands – Seat of Power: Aerys II Targaryen

It has been 10 years since Aerys II rose to power, and the realm will not forget about it anytime soon. To celebrate such an important event, Tywin planned an anniversary tourney in the name of the King.

The celebrations were grand, with different competitions taking place, such as Archery, Spear Throwing and the Jousting Tourney of Knights. Hedge Knights and Lords from all corners of the Western World had arrived to participate and show their loyalty to the King.

Yet, it was Tywin who seemed to gain the favouritism of the people. They cheered for him louder than they did for their King as rumours kept spreading of who truly had the power between the two.

While Aerys had been selfish with his needs and too close-minded to rule properly, Tywin had earned the respect of Lords and peasants alike for his smart thinking and his ability to bring back gold on multiple occasions, ensuring the coffers were never empty.

The King sat on the Royal booth with his wife and his remaining family members. Visenya had also been invited, but a Raven had been sent the day prior, informing the King that she had fallen Ill and was unable to travel.

This left Tywin to be alone amongst the Targaryen, if not for his dear wife, who had also come along with the 6-year-old Twins, Cersei & Jamie. The King often stole glances at Joanna Lannister, known by now that the Targaryen male had a liking for pretty women and often took mistresses in his chambers.

Tywin had noticed and had tried his best to keep his body as a barrier, obstructing most of the King’s view of his wife. It did not settle well with him, but his focus shifted fully once the Jousting Tournament began.

Among the knights participating, there were two that stood out the most; The Lannister Lion and the Targaryen Dragon. Kevan Lannister, younger brother of Tywin, had chosen to participate in the Tournament, and so did Crown Prince Rhaegar, despite being only 14 namedays old.

Aerys did not mind that his son participated, having full hopes that he would take down all of his opponents and show everyone the might of the Targaryen and the strong genes passed down to him by his father, the King.

Tywin glanced at the participants, his eyes momentarily falling on his brother, but then his eyes fell on the Crown Prince. Dressed in full black armour, the helmet obstructed almost the full face and only allowed the eyes to be visible through the slit. The pattern of Dragon was carved on it and Dark Sister was sheathed by the side.

What struck him odd, however, was the size of the crown prince. Some might say it was the fact that he was on top of a horse, but Tywin would share that the Prince was not that tall, at least not yet.

He did not comment anything on it and instead watched in silence as the Jousting began.

The crowd went wild as the Crown Prince managed to unseat yet another opponent, this time being Tywin’s brother. Joanna could not help but pull a face faintly at the rough landing of her good brother and cousin.

By her side, Jaime was practically beaming with excitement as he leaned on the wooden railing and watched the knights with fascination. His sister, on the other hand, did not seem to share his interest and instead looked around her bored.

Many found it impressive that the boy who had just reached his 14th name day had managed to do so well in the Tournament. Yet again, he had been unseated several times but had always managed to recover or finish the battle with swords on the ground.

In the end, only two were left standing before the victor was crowned: Rhaegar and a mysterious Hedge Knight. Bearing no sigil, the mystery man had come and had taken down all of his opponents to reach standing across from the Crown Prince.

This mystery and the change of odds kept both the King and the crowd focused, especially as the two knights prepared their jousting spears. The Mystery Knight rode on a black stallion that seemed uneasy despite his rider's strong grip.

Rhaegar, on the other hand, rode a white stallion, something that had also struck Tywin odd since the prince favoured a brown mare instead. Yet, the mare remained calm despite the shouts of the crowd or the noise around it, matching the confidence of her rider.

The signal was given and both riders wasted no time to charge, their horses turning fast from trot into a gallop while their jousting spears were lifted and ready. Once within reach, both struck a strong hit on their opponents and the result was both knights falling to the ground at the same time.

Quickly standing up, the mystery knight took out his sword and asked for a shield to be passed to him. Complying with his request, Rhaegar drew his sword and was given a slightly smaller shield than his opponent, who towered above him.

In seconds, their blades clashed against one another, and a fierce battle occurred. Blades smacked against shields, creating dents and numbing the holder’s hand or blade that met the blade in a battle of dominance and strength.

Rhaegar might be tall for his age but lacked the strength to compete against the beast that was now his opponent. To make up for it, the young Prince remained swift on his feet and spent most of his time dodging, aiming to tire his opponent.

Eventually, both dropped their shields and stood panting while holding their swords. Sweat rolled down their backs due to the blazing heat above and the weight of their armour, but no one dared to back down.

The mystery knight charged, his swings long but heavy, aiming to take the head of the prince, or at least it looked like it to some. Yet, the prince was quick and kept dodging or blocking with his own sword to ensure no true damage would happen.

His opponent eventually grew too tired, his moves sloppy, and an opening was presented shortly after. With the agility of a snake, the prince ducked beneath his opponent's arm and turned his body.

His shoulder met his chest plate, and despite the pain from the rough contact, he went for a strong push. At the same time, his own blade smacked at the base of his opponent, making him drop his sword before falling backwards to the ground.

The crowd cheered, going wild at the victory of the young prince, who seemed to have knocked down all of his opponents despite his young age. The king was practically glowing with pride, taking those praises of himself since his son had just won.

He looked with pride as the Prince walked towards his booth, his sword dragged faintly by his side, but there were no signs of injury to him. As the Prince approached, he finally lifted his head, and Tywin quickly took notice of his eyes through the slit.

Rhaegar had his parents' violet eyes, the famous eyes of every Targaryen, but those that looked at them were actually a burning amber. Before he could even truly process the fact, a scream was heard from the crowd.

The supposed defeated knight had started to get up as a cloaked figure was finally visible from between the peasants. The sign of an arrow was caught before it was released, quickly embedding itself in the Prince’s left shoulder, right in the unprotected spot between his shoulder and his arm.

People gasped, and the King’s Guard quickly rushed to hunt and take down the archer, who had started to run away. At the same time, the mystery knight grabbed his sword and aimed an attack at the wounded prince.

“Rhaegar!” His mother shouted with worry, a warning sign for the injured prince.

Looking down, he spotted his opponent's shadow behind him, and he quickly ducked to the side, avoiding the sword aimed at the back of his neck. Grabbing his sword, he ignored the pain coming from the arrow embedded into his shoulder and started to block the aggressive hits coming from his opponent.

Another man with a sword jumped into the arena as the crowd started to flee out of terror and fought a King’s Guard, who had tried to stop him.

“Guards! Take him down!” Aerys shouted, but most of his men either tried to fight through the fleeting crowd or had gone after the assassin with the arrow.

The Prince was busy trying to deflect and dodge but was losing the battle, too tired and injured to be an effective fighter at the moment.

Wasting no time, Tywin unsheathed his own sword and jumped from the booth into the arena. He had already fought a war and had both the experience and the energy to take down their latest intruder.

With long strides, he managed to reach the second mysterious knight and quickly started to push him back with his calculated and effective attacks. The man might have pure strength to back him up, but the Lion had the experience and intelligence to give him an edge on the battlefield.

It did not take long to push his opponent to the ground with the help of an injured King’s Guard, who had refused to back down despite his bleeding side. Just then, the sound of people gasping made him look behind him, his green eyes opening wider at the sight.

The Mystery Knight had managed to grab one of the fallen shields and smacked it against the head of the Prince, confusing him for a moment and weakening him as well. He had then tried to attack but in a last attempt, the Prince moved backwards as much as he could.

His helm was damaged and was pressuring his head too much, the dent of the shield visible on its dark structure. Getting annoyed and tired, he removed his helmet and let his white hair fall freely on his back.

The gasps came from the Royal booth and some people that had remained to watch because the one under the armour was never Prince Rhaegar himself but his aunt, Visenya II Targaryen.

She spit some blood from the ground and grabbed the chance her opponent was frozen by the revelation to strike him on the hand that held his shield. Hitting on the inside where the leather straps were, her sword cut both the straps and the man’s hand.

His cries of pain echoed across the open arena as he dropped his sword and held his now bleeding hand, his wrist and below having been cut by the valyrian steel blade of the princess.

Visenya kicked the man on the ground with her boot and pressed on his chest, her sharp blade stopping inches away from his covered face. Her chest heaved up and down, the blood from her wound having stained her clothes from beneath her armour, and there was this faint ringing in her right ear, but she kept glaring at him with those burning orbs as if she would unleash fire upon him like the Dragon she was.

After the events that took place in the Tourney, the royal family gathered in the King’s Study, or at least some of them. Rhaella was not allowed and had instead rushed to find her son, who had not appeared during the Tourney.

Aerys stood with his back turned on his younger sister, his rage visible by the stiffness of his back muscles and the tightening of his hands into fists. The only other person present was Tywin, who, as Hand of the King, was allowed to remain.

The sudden sound of a fist against a wooden surface snapped everyone’s attention as the King turned to face his sister. His violet eyes were blazing with anger, and he felt the need to cut her head off for the trouble she had caused him.

“What in the 7 gotten into you? Lying to me of being ill, replacing my son in the tournament and humiliating every single Lord that participated!” he spat, his lips having formed a snarl.

Yet despite his temper or his glare, Visenya did not seem to bend under the pressure nor cower in a corner. She kept her head lifted, still dressed in armour and with the arrow pinned to her shoulder. Whether she felt the pain by now or not, was not visible on her face as her amber eyes glowed with determination.

“I was protecting our family”, she explained, her voice not once rising an octave. “I heard words of a planned assassination attempt for Rhaegar in the Tourney. So, I returned in secrecy and persuaded Rhaegar to take his place to draw out the assassin, which in the end I did.”

The rage of the King seemed to only be ignited by her words. She had moved behind his back, planned something that he was not aware of and all in the name of rumours?

Furious, he stood in front of her, and in seconds, the sound of a slap echoed in the silent room.

The King had lifted his hand and had delivered a powerful strike, his ring cutting her cheek as Visenya’s head was thrown to the side from the force. Yet, when she turned her head to look at him again, not a single tear was visible, and there was no sign of fear.

“I have been linear with you, Visenya, but do not chase your luck”, he spat, his hand trembling and itching to deliver another strike. “Do not ever think of going against my back again. I am the King! I decide what is to be done, and no one else! Are we clear?”

Visenya did not once break eye contact with him; his yelling did not affect her, however. She glared silently at the disrespect and his tone, getting a good idea of how the power of the crown had infected his mind.

Yet Tywin would have never imagined them coming that way. When the slap landed on her cheek, his green eyes glared dangerously at the King, the golden flecks within glowing like molten gold.

Lifting a hand on your own relative because of your fragile ego was not something he approved. Visenya had done her duty to the crown and to her family, keeping the prince safe and yet the King thought he could lift his hand upon her like that.

As he expected, the Dragoness did not budge, nor did she shed any tears. The slap had injured her cheek, and there was the arrow on her shoulder, but she did not move a single foot. She kept her ground, her head held high with the pride of a Targaryen, and her eyes remained cold on the face of her brother and King.

By the tensing of her jaw, it was clear that she despised such treatment and disrespect but she was no fool. She knew that she could not go against the king despite their relationship.

Based on his shouting, it was clear to both of them that the one wearing the crown was unfit to do so, yet none truly had the power to do anything.

Ultimately, she gave a courtesy bow and retreated, letting the two men watch her leave. One glared daggers at her back, and the other watched with silent admiration at her control while questions flowed in his mind like a swarm of flies.

Facts about Opposite Itsy Iris, nicknamed “Beetsy” ( or even Daisy )

*Adopted to a village ( colony ) of Bees, and has two dads.

- Grew up thinking she was a bee with a bunch of deformities ( white hair color and lack of wings ).

- Grew up being afraid of spiders.

*Had difficulty fitting in due to her appearance and abilities of a spider that got in the way of the other bees’ works, which lead to her dying her hair and tail black.

-Her webs would get in the way of flying bees.

*She was banished from her village.

*Met Jack as he helped her during a rainy day, both of them somehow forming a friendship together, and got married when Beetsy was 20 and Jack was 22.

*She has Nyctophobia ( extreme fear of the Dark ) and Aquaphobia ( fear of deep oceans — almost as extreme as her fear of the dark ).

- She mostly doesn’t sleep well of having the lights turned off, due to Jack not being able to sleep with any lights on. — So she just deals with it and having her most valuable item, her flashlight underneath her pillow.

- Jack knows her extreme fear of the dark and takes advantage of it, trapping her in a closet when he gets angry at her.

-Overall, Beetsy and Jack’s dynamic is somewhat complex on its own. Jack having difficulty of showing he loves her, though obviously abusive and manipulative, while Beetsy isn’t entirely a Mary-sue either, despite her situation she still had an affair with Opposite Wally, — escaping her house multiple times to spend time with him and gaining an emotional connection.

- Opposite Wally and Beetsy met during a winter day— didn’t have a great start, but ended up bonding over sandwiches and books and Opp Wally hyperfixiating to her about Greek Mythology, which she had no idea about. ( fanonically speaking

*Beetsy LOVES:

*Sun & Light: She likes its warmth and brightness.

*Bread : She loves lots of kinds of bread, adding all kinds of different jams, making all kinds of sandwiches, and even adding flowers and honey to them.

*Honey: she also adds honey to most of her food.

*Flowers: loves smelling and eating them a lot, adding it to most of her food.

*She likes mythical creatures and studies related to magic apparently, but doesn’t consider herself to be a witch, unlike Itsy, who uses her studies of dark magic for evil deeds.

*They both like to eat a lot, but Beetsy actually eats actual food, while Itsy eats anything that’s edible or living ( she generally likes to torture them before spitting them out ).

*Itsy loves the cold darkness, while Beetsy hates it, and prefers the warm brightness.

I said I was posting her I warned you.

I like to pick and choose what counts as canon especially in shows like FOP where a lot of things are repeatedly contradicted and retconned, so I am guilty of ignoring a lot of seasons 9-10 for the sake of being more faithful to the canon of the earlier seasons. However. Mr. Bitch Fartman You can NOT have Denzel Quincy Crocker say out loud "he's my estranged half-sister's kid" and never do anything with the estranged half sister I have been losing my mind.

Enter Caroline Daye, Legally Caroline Daye-Crocker until she could afford to change it. Born in 1973, had Kevin in 1993 at age 20. She was raising him in northern California and working as a librarian until their house burnt down, and she sent him to stay with her mother and half-brother as a last resort while she figured out how to rebuild their life. She has occupied my every waking thought for over a week now. Please be nice me.

Like I said I pick and choose pretty liberally from the later seasons but I really, really wanted to find a way to make this mystery sister work. I LOVE this weird messed up family and their definite witch blood (I will talk about witch blood in a different post) and I think adding another player to the board could be So so so interesting.

Here's some things we know:

-Crocker Family genes are Insanely Prominent, all of these people look frighteningly alike. Given the fact that Kevin fits the standard mold to a T, it's likely that his mother is Dolores' daughter, as opposed to the daughter of whoever Denzel's father was. I'm giving that more credibility than last naming conventions.

-In The Secret Origins of Denzel Crocker the snippets of his life we see are separated by 10 year intervals, we do not see a lot of flashbacks outside of that¹. We only see a snapshot of the March 15ths of 1972, 1982, and 1992. If his sister were older than him but not out of the house, why would Vic be babysitting and not her? If she were old enough to be out of the house in 1972 And far enough away at college to never be around, Dolores would've had her as a teenager or very young adult, which Is plausible, but chronologically doesn't align with them being half-siblings². So it's likely that she was born after 1972.

-Dolores is most likely not single by choice. Denzel's father is never mentioned or in the picture, and is presumably already absent by 1972 considering she's working 3+ jobs. But we do see her pursue multiple men over the course of the series even as a woman in her 70s³. We see her get married at least twice on screen⁴, and the first time is to Ricky, who I am going to Generously assume is 18-19⁴, but even so that's pretty messed up.The point is, Dolores strikes me as a serial monogamist, at least by the time the law allows².

-Kevin, in Dimmsdale's Got Talent? does threaten to tell his mother that Denzel is making him dress up like a ventriloquist dummy and play the part, and in Hare Raiser, Denzel outright says she'll be upset if she finds out anything happened to Kevin, meaning that not only does she care about her son's well being, but she does have a say in his situation as well. Despite the "estrangement" she's on speaking terms with at least her half-brother if not their mother too, so it's not likely she just dropped Kevin off to avoid being a parent or is a negligent mother, and I'm guessing this arrangement was not her first choice.

-Denzel has noticeably gotten Worse over time. Not as in how he's written over the series, that's a different kind of worse and an issue for a different post, but worse between 1972 and 2002 as a functioning person. He made it through college and people were still willing to show up at his presentation before knowing what it was about. Geraldine was somehow Shocked that she was 'in love with a psychotic moron⁵', He has canonically opened a portal to fairy world multiple times, I think he has gotten his memory wiped even more than we see on screen, but I think even for awhile after 1972 he was capable of at least holding a reasonable conversation and had some semblance of impulse control unless there was a direct trigger.

-Back to picking and choosing in canon, as much as we see Denzel taking on the general role of Being A Dick To Children, he does consistently show favoritism. Originally towards AJ up until March 15th, when he's just being Like That to everyone, then later towards Peri in Bad Heir Day, to the point of passing up literally his entire life purpose? For Peri to be safe? God don't talk to me. And later still we see it towards Chloe and then Kevin. Combining this with the above point it's possible he actually had a somewhat decent relationship with his sister early on, which might be why she's willing to let him watch her kid at all.

About Caroline:

¹I'm ignoring Let Sleeper Dogs Lie because it basically throws Denzel's entire backstory out the window and I hate that.

²I don't see Dolores as someone who wouldn't pull her baby daddy, willing or not, into marriage, especially in 1950-1954. No-fault divorce was not legalized in the U.S until 1969, and by 1972 she is single. Unless she could prove both her first AND second husbands guilty of spousal wrongdoing, she would likely not have gone through 2 of them in that amount of time, it's possible one or both of them died, but it's my free real estate oc and I say she was born in 1973

³Later in the series they say Dolores is 80 but the series timeline also shifts around character ages and birth dates a LOT post like season 6 and a little before because the show ran for 16 years and couldn't commit to a year to be set in.

⁴The validity of both marriages is questionable at best, but supposing Ricky was of legal age to get married, as he did do so on paper, 18-19/70 is still a Very creepy relationship. Vicky was 16, so having an 18-19 year old boyfriend still makes sense.

⁵I do NOT think he was entirely stable up until this point I think Geraldine was in denial but my thoughts on their relationship are ALSO for a different post

After Denzel's initial breakdown, Dolores didn't feel safe leaving him at home alone or with a babysitter, but she also wasn't about to admit anything was wrong with her baby¹. Her solution was to get remarried and spend more time at home. In the summer of 1972 she married Carl Daye², and Caroline was born in the spring of 1973.

The family was never stable, given the circumstances, and after a bout of infidelity and a few rounds of failed marriage counseling, Carl and Dolores divorced in 1980 when Caroline was 7 and Denzel was about 17-18, they had a relatively ok sibling relationship until then, but that lead to the initial rift between them. The custody battle over Caroline was messy, and in the end Carl only retained visitation rights. Caroline didn't take this very well, becoming much more closed off, less energetic, and more negative towards her family as a whole.

Denzel, being himself, decided her self isolation meant one of two things, either his little sister had been replaced by a changeling, done by FAIRIES, or, she was miserable enough that she had probably been given FAIRIES. Neither of these things were true, unfortunately he learned this by pushing her off the roof in full confidence that she would not hit the ground. Not only did she hit the ground but she shattered her wrist to the point it still bends crooked to this day. He did drive her to the hospital afterwards, and agreed to do all of her chores for the rest of the time they lived together if she didn't tell Dolores³. Still, she was significantly less trusting of him after that.

All three of them were on shaky ground for the next 9 years, Dolores having flipped from her prior absentee parenting to being overbearing and micromanaging, as well as being just enough of a toxic boymom for Caroline to know she was the least favorite. There were moments that were ok⁴, but not nearly enough as time went on.

Her relationship with Dolores was never good, and while it didn't go the `creepy codependent simultaneously berating each other but with the undertones of really upsetting emotional inc3st` direction Denzel's did it felt more like living with a landlord that cultivated dependency while simultaneously chipping away at her self esteem than like living with a parent. In 1985 Dolores remarried again. To Victor Walsh. Yes that Vic, yes the babysitter, yes he was 26 at the time but yes it was still very unnerving.

The marriage only lasted 2 years, but by the end of it Caroline had gone through trying to convince her father to reposition for custody once, would convince him to again over the next two years, and would finally self emancipate and just move in with him, and away from Dimmsdale, at age 16, going no-contact with her mother and very low contact with her brother.

Carl worked at a publishing company, and was able to get Caroline a part time secretary position, which turned full time when she finished high-school. She had Kevin at age 20, he was not planned and she never married his father, but she does love her son very much. They both lived with Carl for another 2 years until she was able to get them their own place and take on a permanent position at the local library.

In 2003, their house caught fire, and while there was potential to rebuild, the choice was complicated by costs and the two of them were without a place to live. Carl having since moved to an assisted living facility, couldn't house them for more than a night. Not wanting Kevin to have to live out of her car or a cheap motel room, she very, very begrudgingly reached out to her brother.

There is a rumor based on a Mexican meme where his fans from Mexico started calling him Drake Campana (which is bell in spanish), this happens in 2020 so I think it's funny that people claim that he changed his name and fled to Mexico in 2021 when these things happened before that, and another one is the talking point that people say Josh was distancing himself from Drake because of the child endangerment charge but the wedding incident was in 2017. Years prior to the public 2021 case.

There are social media posts about Drake Bell "changing his name to Campana after finding musical sucess in mexico", in 2020.... before the "fled to mexico" rumor started. despite what everyone says , squidward is straight ( and an ally . spongebob brings him to pride events and he always grumps about it , but has a great time every time they go without fail ) . i will DIE on that hill . people often ship him with spongebob / squilliam , and i can see it , i just don ' t ship it myself . in one episode where patrick thought he was being sent away , he cross-dressed into a woman . in the process , squidward fell in love with her , flirting and all . when he is found to just be a man , he loses all the attraction . in one scene , squilliam is interrogating squidward about his job . squidward tells himself to imagine him naked , and once he does , he says " OH NO HES HOT " . i believe this is just an observation , and he was suprised at the fact he was more attractive than he thought . you can find someone attractive without being attracted TO them !! he looks up to squilliam and is very jealous , but he most likely wouldn ' t want to date him . and spongebob . . . hes just spongebob . he doesn ' t see spongebob in a romantical type of way . he cares about spongebob because in the end , he knows that spongebob is a living thing with a life , just like he is . he ' s only mean to spongebob because he doesn ' t know how to express affection . in my mind , i see their relationship as an equivalent to siblings . squidward hates spongebob , but he truly does care about him , even if he cant express it in the way other people do . he can bully spongebob , but only he can . he gets angry when other people do , as it ' s been shown multiple times . The argument that klayley was anymore wasted than any of the canon relationships is absolutely NOT correct,

Klaus and Hayley canonically had romantic feelings for each other and anyone who still denies it needs to rewatch the show with open eyes (not only does canon confirm it time and time again but so did the fucking show runner)

Klayley were in more of a relationship than any other Klaus/Hayley ship, klamille was fascination with parts of who Klaus is without actually accepting him whole from Cami's side and blind idolization to also one part of who cami is without accepting that she can be something other than pure pretty therapist from Klaus's side so they both never had any tolerance for each other if they didn't conform to whatever idea they had of who the other is, klamille had no impact on either one of their characters because Klaus never actually changed as a person, all they had were random romantic moments to remind you that Klaus has a love interest everything about them is genuinely superficial

Same with haylijah whose case is probably even worse, because while klamille's feelings for each other were superficial at least it was still about each other, haylijah is entirely built around Elijah's obsession with Klaus and Klaus's perceived emotional unavailability with Hayley and her desire for someone comfortable who loved her to the point Hayley ditches Elijah on multiple occasions easily for the simple fact she doesn't want to put in any slight amount of work for their relationship and married Jackson because he's an Elijah that doesn't require any effort on her part, almost ditched him permanently after she felt let down by Klaus in season 2, only gets back with him cause Jackson's dead, breaks up with him in S4 again for no reason other than the fact she discovered (she already knew since S1 actually) that he's not perfect after going inside his head even tho he's been nothing but good to her and hope. (But she was killing herself for Klaus every single time despite him almost killing her/ their unborn child intentionally TWICE. / being controlling and manipulative, abandoning her and hope for years yet she still risked her life for him anytime, defended him and wanted desperately to be loved by him/matter to him )

Initially I sort of shipped Rhaenys x Corlys (until I read she was 16 and he was 37) (I don’t care about the fact that it was medieval or whatever it’s still weird)

I feel as though GRRM making Corlys cheat on her with a teenager, just sort of ruined his character for me. The fact that he only named Addam and Alyn ‘Velaryons’ after Rhaenys died. Disrespectful! It really rubs me the wrong way.

Like hello Baela is right there! What are your thoughts on what Corlys does with regards to his alleged affair, and passing off driftmark to Addam-Alyn over Baela?

Hello! Thank you, first of all, for taking such an interest. And thank you for messaging me, that's lovely and kind of you. Yes, the age thing is so frigging weird but I take stock in the fact that even with the age gap, in the books, GRRM did basically everything to say that it was as consensual as it could be, that Rhaenys was the one who asked for the marriage, that it was a happy occasion and a usually happy marriage. And, above anything else, GRRM stresses very much the fact that these two were equals within the partnership. At the end of it, I think that Corlys loved her and she loved Corlys.

Although, thank goodness the show changes their age. They are both said to be in the same age brackets in the script (i.e 40s at the Great Council). And the actors themselves have only about 6 years between them which is fine. Nor do we have any information about when the two married in the show!universe. So no alarm bells on that side of things.

It's strange, when you come to the Addam/Alyn debate. And I generally flip-flip, especially when we talk about the book. I don't think it's so cut and dry that they aren't Laenor's. I know that sounds like I'm making excuses so as not to ruin my ship, but it's far more plausible that they are Laenor's in the book.

There is the age difference of it all, there is the steadfastness to which they all claim it, there is the fact that the rumours come from Mushroom who likes to stir things and that the other scholars cannot and will not agree as to the boys' origins. Laenor had opportunity and motive, despite his sexuality. The boys would be around Jace's age, therefore the time in which he was going to convince himself that he needed heirs and needed to bed a woman and if he felt cuckolded, however rightly/wrongly, then that could have motivated multiple sexual encounters with Marilda. There is also the fact that one can dragon-ride. Either they get that from Laenor, or the Velaryon dragon-riding (if it exists) kicks in at an especially opportune moment, or their mother has some dragonseed in her. We have no explanation. If GRRM can be so overt in saying that Jace, Luke and Joff are not Laenor's, then why could he not be over saying the Hull boys were not? So I think it's ambiguous.

In the show? Gosh darn it, I know they are going to be Corlys's kids. Luckily, the show has already established that this Corlys can totally love Rhaenys and be adoring to his wife... but be a total idiot and hurt her in the process. I'll be interested to see how they present it all, but I wouldn't be surprised if Rhaenys knows all about it. After all, Alyn is a part of the Fleet in the show, rather than hidden away in Hull.

Moving on to the succession, what interests me is that it's not Corlys who pushes for their legitimisation. He only brings them forward as dragonseeds. It's Jace who asks for it, and then Rhaenyra grants it. It's done to reward for Addam bonding with a dragon and Alyn risking his life for it. It's not billed or suggested that it's a sneaky political move that Corlys has always planned. It's not even suggested that he's done it in any way to disrespect Rhaenys. I think the fact that he refuses to acknowledge them as his sons, if indeed they are, is a show of respect to Rhaenys in a weird way. He refuses to bring shame upon her, despite her being dead and the repercussions of claiming Alyn and Addam being pretty minimal, that I can see.

Also, at that point, it's not a case of picking between the Hull boys and Baela. The next Heir to Driftmark would have been Joffrey. So I sort of view it a bit more innocently than I know some do.

I don't think there is ever a point where it would be realistic or advantageous to switch the inheritance over to Baela. I don't think that is even a thought that enters Corlys's head. His heir is his son/grandson. It's the one that leads the Fleet. Baela is imprisoned for quite a while when Alyn takes over after the death of Addam. He is a military leader and acts on behalf of Corlys when Corlys is imprisoned as well. It would be churlish to reward such service with a disinheritance and Alyn does present himself as a suitable heir. There's little to no reason for Corlys to undo this.

There's also Baela's strategic position. She has a claim to the Throne. She is also of an age to marry. If she were heir to the Throne or to Driftmark or any of that, then people would seek to use her. They would try and marry her and then they would command the Fleet and/or more.

All in all, I don't think the issue is cut and dry. I don't believe it's an act of harm against Baela. It may not even be a conscious thought. Baela in book and show has not been raised to expect that inheritance. She does not expect, or shown any wish, to be Lady of the Tides in her own right. Corlys does not spurn Baela, even if there is a world in which the Driftwood Throne would have been hers.

Part 3

While I wouldn’t call family the main theme of Phineas and Ferb, it is still one of its core themes.

Our main family is a clear example of family being more than blood, and how the creators are interested in exploring multiple facets of the family even beyond the scope of the household.

Of course the titular characters Phineas and Ferb are step brothers and best friends. An extremely heartwarming dynamic. But the real heart of the show is Candace and her complicated feelings towards them. Their mom's frequent absences and supernatural obliviousness to her son's activities drives the plot, flavored by her worry for Candace. Their father's eccentric nature rounds out the family. While there is conflict aplenty, most notably between Candace and... almost everyone, there's a fair share of it among everyone else. Ferb is occasionally caught in the crossfire of Phineas's perpetual obliviousness, their dad once got in hot water with their mom by forgetting their anniversary, Lawrence once thought Linda was overreacting to something he had build, and of course when Linda DOES see the boy’s (bigger) activities she’s usually not pleased. We believe easily that they really do love each other deeply, while not being a completely ideal family.

The fact Flynn-Fletchers are a blended family DOES escape the notice of many causal viewers, due to how rarely "Step" anything is brought up and how the kids non-Flynn-Fletcher family is not present, it does help add depth to the family. Ferb and his father are British immigrants, and thus, Ferb has family and traditions that Phineas and Candace are new to. Ferb's relationship to Phineas and Candace is a bit different, though no less precious to them, than their relationship to each other, and is the same in all the ways that really matter. And a lot of how well this family meshed together is illustrated through the extended family.

Lawrence has at least one younger brother, whose married with 6 kids and the focus of a two part episode, where Phineas and Candace meet Ferb's cousins and uncle for the first time, and where, we see a different side of Lawrence with his and Adrian's sibling "rivalry", Eliza and Candace developing a friendship, and of course the Peles and Beckhams doubting how "British" Ferb really is. Ferb also has a Scottish cousin, and a "Aunt Maura and Uncle Angus" who he keeps in contact with, but who it seems Candace is generally unfamiliar with. But despite this unfamiliarity, it’s clear that the Fletcher and Flynn extended families see the other side as extended family too, even if not quite in the same way as they see each other.

Both sets of grandparents treat all 3 of the kids as their own. Candace is shown to be just as much a moody teen to her biological grandmother as her step-grandmother. Phineas may be unfamiliar with Grandpa Reg’s vocabulary and requires Ferb to translate, but at the same time both he and Ferb are treated as grandsons when it comes down to it and both admire him. The grandparents themselves are rather fleshed out characters, who appear in multiple episodes.

 They also have an aunt on their mom's side whose marriage is a plot point in an episode. Their maternal grandmother has a twin sister who appears once. Despite the minor role these characters play they really flesh out the whole Flynn Fletcher family, highlighting that Lawrence and Linda themselves are siblings and how their own sibling relationships function which could be shown to parallel their own children. Adrian and Lawrence may be "competitive", but Phineas and Ferb aren’t in the slightest. Tiana and Linda seem to get along really well (at least now), but Candace is constantly irritated by her brothers. And Lorraine may just be a one off gag, but it does show that plotting sibling duos run in the family. 

Not to mention how many of the family members are shown to have lives of their own, we meet Bob Webber first as Candace and Jeremy's boss, Betty Jo Flynn has a roller derby rivalry with Hilda Johnson, Reginald Fletcher was a daredevil in his youth, and Linda was a pop star.

And of course I can’t forget Perry. Perry is a cherished member of the family, even if the Flynn-Fletcher’s don’t know the real him. While Perry doesn’t actually spend a whole lot of time on-screen with the Flynn-Fletcher’s it’s clear he cares for them deeply. There are several episodes, (not to mention the movie), dedicated to how much Perry means to the boys and vice versa, even if their relationship is predicated on the false assumption of Perry’s lack of sapience. Not to mention, the Candace and Perry relationship development, Candace and Perry care for each other too, even if their relationship looks different from Perry’s with the boys. She reacts calmly to the news he’s not what he seemed, he rescues her from Doof’s self-destructing lair, and she spends all day looking for him after she thought she chased him off.

Planet of the Apes (1974), EP 8, The Deception

I don't think I've seen James Naughton in anything else, but from this episode, I wasn't impressed with his acting. But then, I wasn't impressed with almost any of the acting from anyone.

Despite being under prosthetics, Roddy McDowall did show nicely subtle acting, and I don't think I'd call Ron Harper's acting bad; I just found both Alan and Peter to be fairly meh characters. Maybe, I'll warm up to one or both of them during later episodes.

To both the show's credit and detriment, I did like a lot of what was done with Fauna, though, I wasn't impressed by most of Jane Actman's acting.

She did do okay with playing a blind character. She didn't overact that part, and she didn't make some of the mistakes many sighted performers doing when playing blind/visually-impaired characters.

Other than this, a lot of her characterisation and actions made sense. She was a young, empathetic woman with a love of knowledge and stories who lost her sight, lost a friend she harboured deeper feelings for when he ended the friendship due to her blindness, and then, her father was violently murdered.

Someone who reminded her of her ex-friend came along, and this young, hurt woman, who still insisted on remaining optimistic, fell for him.

I loved how multiple characters pointed out how fast this was, and at the end, even if she's more open to not all humans being bad, it's proven she wasn't in love, and she's rightfully lost almost, if not all, good feelings towards Peter.

The show itself handled having a blind character really well. No one pitied her or thought her incompetent, the other characters gave the help she did need without making a big deal out of it, and it was pointed out that, while possibly necessary for their goals, it wasn't good to use her blindness to their advantage in such a way.

However, the whole drama with her infatuation potentially had a really easy solution, and the characters not taking it can't really be excused by saying what a viewer might do isn't what a character would for [insert X reason].

Tell her that he was married to, engaged to, or dating another woman. This being the made in the 70s, I get that, 'Sorry, I'm gay,' was very likely not an option at all, but saying he had something with another female ape might have easily solved the problems.

The characters didn't like lying to her, but they had before. Galen would rather semi-badmouth his friend than say, 'Fauna, he has a girlfriend/fiancée/wife.'?

I'm not saying someone has to give a reason for rejecting someone, but if Peter wanted to firmly reject her without being unnecessarily cruel, instead of telling her a Bible story, and then, just bluntly announcing they'd never interact again, he could have said, 'Sorry, I'm already in a relationship.'

If your plot has a really easy solution that the characters likely would employ if not for the story, then, either give a good reason why they won't employ it, or change the plot.

The allegory for the KKK was somewhat interesting.

However, the uncle's heel-face-turn was too abrupt. He was set up to be this really duplicitous person, and then, he wasn't.

Don't get me wrong, I did like the fact he genuinely loves his niece, but for most of the episode, he was portrayed as an extremist. His niece is saved, and then, not only are the humans who deceived both him and her considered a-okay, but suddenly, he's talking about how all humans might not be bad.

Nothing was shown about any complicated feelings he might have regarding his brother's death earlier in the episode, and in fact, it was heavily implied several times he'd coldly murdered said brother before the reveal.

And finally, if a POC saved a KKK's leader's loved one, yeah, maybe, the leader might be genuinely thankful to the saviour. Maybe, this leader would reconsider their hatred and bigotry, and possibly, even become a champion for anti-racism.

But if a crowd of KKK members were standing around, even if they went, 'Alright, this one/these certain ones can peacefully leave, we genuinely won't do anything while they're walking away,' I really, really doubt they'd all take off their hoods and suddenly be open to peacefully co-existing with minorities.

I've noticed many people often shy away from the word 'cynical'. I've personally said more than once that, while I don't mind the term, I think of myself as a realist.

Maybe, I'm more cynical than realistic, but I do admit: I do like this ending much better than I would an ending where the apes were all, sure, they saved one of ours, but we're still gonna hate and hunt them and all others like them.

Vote Pepper because:

Stony shippers don't like her, and as such, in Stony fics,Pepper is portrayed as Type A to the extreme (i.e., a nag) in order to justify Tony not liking her. Other than that, she's a fairly popular character, with fans acknowledging that she defeated most of Tony's adversaries.

Even characters in canon respect Pepper and ship her and Tony together - including the other part of the mlm ship, Steve.

Pepper got to marry Tony in canon and have a child with him in canon. This is despite how the two were perhaps only briefly together in comics (the source material for the MCU, allegedly), where Pepper realized she would be happier with Happy Hogan.

Vote Sharon because:

Stony, Stucky, Romanogers, and Steggy fans loathe her. Sharon is portrayed as a conniving, meddling bitch/villain in fics. Multiple authors flat-out say that they need someone to be the bitch or villain in their fics and they used Sharon.

She got so much hatred based on Steve kissing her in Civil War in 2016 that Marvel Studios changed its entire plan for multiple characters. Endgame hammered in a plot about how Steve had not, in fact, moved on and abandoned everyone he'd formed ties with to return to a woman he'd never dated and who had actually shot at him after seeing him kiss someone else because this was deemed more romantic than him being with someone who gave up everything to support him. Instead of "He can do this all day," he retired with someone who never got a single line of dialog in the film because the filmmakers said he deserved to be selfish for once. The filmmakers can't agree on if he genuinely went back in time (TSA approved, but also suggests he groomed Sharon so she would be return the kiss when she was older) or if he created another timeline (TSA supposedly wouldn't allow it, unless Cap is an exception to this rule, too). Meanwhile, Sharon is in a non-extradition country, using her own name, dealing in art (his area of interest) which would make it pretty easy for people to find her if they looked. But with Steve needing justification to not look for her, Marvel Studios argues that she's not only a villain, but was always too weak to survive trauma with her morality intact (despite how we saw her do just that in the past). In short, the kiss led to so much hatred for Sharon that Marvel decided to make things incredibly nonsensical and confusing in order to justify it.

Sharon still gets blamed for making out with Steve even though they weren't related and the only people saying they were did so in order to break them up. Reminder: He initiated the kiss 2016. He asked her out in 2014.

Even Marvel Studios employees talk about how they wanted to kill Sharon off in ways that might have been too violent to show on screen but backed off because "Emily Vandercamp" is so sweet. That is... not her name. This was said unprompted in a promotional interview. And yes, one of the writers flat-out said it's because they ship Steve with someone else. To my knowledge, nothing like this happened to Gwyneth Paltrow/Pepper.

Emily VanCamp was shown Stucky fic in interviews and told how people prefer Steve with Bucky. All she could say was that she hoped people liked Sharon a little more after Civil War. One problem with that was that Marvel Studios had decided to turn Cap 3 into Civil War - taking her from a lead to another extended cameo. She only have 7 1/2 minutes in the entirety of the MCU, and only three of those minutes were spent developing a romantic relationship. To my knowledge, nothing like this happened to Gwyneth Paltrow/Pepper, who got much more screentime and time to develop a romantic relationship.

Interviewers quoted anti-Staron shippers (including from people who openly said they thought Steve should get with Bucky instead) on the promotional tour, and you can see in at least one of the interviews that Emily is trying not to cry. To my knowledge, nothing like this happened to Gwyneth Paltrow.

This is despite how Sharon has been Steve's main love interest in the comics since December 9, 1965. Despite being off and on for decades (three of Steve's other love interests were while she was supposedly dead, with at least one writer saying they only created the love interest because Sharon was dead at the time), the two of them have been together since 2005 - seven years before TFA came out.

So for this we have to think back to like... peak Avengers MCU era. I am sorry. Back when Avengers had just come out it was BRUTAL out there for anyone who didn't like Tony/Steve (Tony Stark, Pepper's canon love interest, and Steve Rogers aka Iron Man and Captain America). While the ship itself is like, fine, it got sour so fast because Pepper was demonized SO much. When she wasn't completely sidelined and ignored, she was a cheater or an abuser (??) or what-have-you in fics so the two men could get together. It's much better now and last I heard Pepper gets some of the love she deserves (bc we do love women in this house!) but oh MAN it was bad back then. TBH all MCU women were treated like garbage by the fanbase but she got the brunt of it because she was in the way of The Most Popular Ship. She was just too #girlboss I guess

Frequently villainized for being a canon love interest for Tony Stark. Often portrayed as a Nag, constantly bothering him about doing "work" for his "company" when he could be working on inventions or spending time with his love interest! Sometimes she just Doesn't Understand Him, inconsiderately pressuring him to stay out of being a hero instead of being who he really is; only the m/m love interest really understands him! Or maybe she's the aggressor, who took advantage of the power imbalance between her and her poor innocent *checks notes* boss in order to pressure him into a relationship he didn't really want where he was treated terribly, and only his m/m love interest can save him from her! Pepper deserves better!

Sharon Carter

When she first appeared she was unfairly treated by fans for "getting in the way" of the Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes ship. A shame because she's a really good character. I'd talk more about how unfairly Sharon, and her actress Emily VanCamp, have been treated by the fanbase and the creators, but that's a different story.

She and Steve Rogers were meant to have a romantic relationship, but the entire fandom and many Stucky fans dislike her because it wasn’t a good ship. I think she isn’t the best but she doesn’t deserve so much hate

Do I STILL really believe Nalu won’t happen?

Short answer: No.

But you know that's not how we do things here. 

It feels so good to be back! (sort of, at least) I know I've been away for some time. Part of it is being busy with things in real life. Part of it is mental health not doing too well. Some of my plans for things have shifted quite a bit, as you might be able to tell.

All that said, this hasn't changed.

I haven't talked about this in the proper context of the sequels. I've taken shots at the ship. But have I given this ship the treatment I'd probably be expected to?

Or, at least, have I explained my reasons for still doubting the ship will happen? Because I don't have to like that a ship is happening to believe it will happen.

Speaking of which, what better place to start with than talking about that other ship I rag on a lot: Gruvia. I've said this a few times, but I don't like Mashima's writing of Gruvia in the sequel. To be brief, the ship's focus is different from what I believe it should be. And having Juvia as an active series member has long since passed the point of straining reality.

At the same time, no one denies that Gray has decided to accept Juvia's feelings. He's come to terms with himself in this regard and will accept Juvia as a lover once the mission ends. (How are we still on the fourth dragon?) It's hard to see something like Gray wishing for an alternate universe where he's married with a kid and ask myself, "How serious is Mashima about this ship happening?" You know, as if it isn't only a matter of time.

The issue is that Nalu isn't on that level. That sounds like me being biased and denying the reality right, especially if I listen to certain people.

But let's compare these two ships and what's happened to them in the sequel.

When the gang visited Fairy Nali, their version of Juvia was the catalyst for Gray being as open with Juvia as he's poised to be. Fairy Nali has its own Nalu, but nothing meaningful came from it. Natsu got jealous because of Lucy, but that's not brought up again and doesn't affect anything.

They go to Edolas and see their alternate-world kids. I'll grant you that Natsu and Gray want to bring their "kids" to the Earthland. But what else happens? I mentioned what goes on with Greige already. Ashley talks with Lucy about the possibility of a future romance with Natsu, but she's not meaningfully moved by it.

Come to think of it, there was a similar conversation to that when they were on the Earth God Dragon. Lucy heard Touka had a romantic interest in Natsu. Her response wasn't one of jealousy. She figured it wouldn't go well once she heard about it. (It's almost as if she knows that Natsu isn't currently interested in a romantic relationship if he ever will be.)

Nothing showed that more than the one moment I've talked about the most from the sequel: Natsu and the women in his heart. The fact that Natsu's bunch of women is canonically juxtaposed with Gray's feelings for Juvia shows that Mashima's taking this ship as a joke.

To be a Nalu shipper, I must believe one of a few realities. It's possible that Natsu does have romantic feelings for all these women and can't decide between them. You know, despite Wendy being in that bunch. It's also possible Mashima, being in tune with fandom, is trying to appease fans of Natsu's most-popular ships, even outside of Nalu. It wasn't as if I expected anything involving Nali in the sequel. My theory, which I alluded to when it happened, is Mashima making a callback to a sketch he made a while back. That would explain why Mira and Cana were there but don't talk. They weren't in that old sketch.

I can't say for sure what this moment is supposed to mean. But I know that this isn't helping Nalu's case as a romantic ship. Not just because it's multiple women. Not just because Gray's only interested in Juvia. Natsu's focus in the matter is that Yakune put his friends against him. Not women he's interested in romantically used to distract him.

By the way, I'm sick of having to say this after eight years of having this blog. But I guess some things never change. Characters being put in awkward potentially sexual positions isn't proof your ship will happen. At best, it's a cheap gag that could reveal characters' feelings through their reactions. At worst, it's one of the most annoying tropes of the medium we love and want to take more seriously. Lucy wanting Natsu to touch her anywhere doesn't hold the kind of weight I'm annoyed to know so many fans want it to have. That doesn't matter how real or fake Lucy or whoever else is.

But what tells me Nalu isn't likely isn't any of that. It's not anything involving Gruvia or chapter 71 of the sequel. I don't think I'd say this a few years ago. But the thing that sells me against Nalu is Jerza. Of course, this isn't to say Jerza happening would jeopardize Nalu. But Jerza has been making strides toward becoming canon.

A few years ago, I concluded that Erza would never willingly leave Fairy Tail, even to be with Jellal. That means the only way Jerza could happen would be if Jellal accepted his actions as being forgiven and was willing to join Erza to some degree. This could be joining Fairy Tail or some sort of mutual partnership outside of it. Mind you, this was for how I was thinking of how to pair them in rewriting the series. (Also, thank "Kidnapping Erza".)

Now, what's happened in the sequel?

Awkward and annoying as it is, Jellal put his past behind him. At this point, it's more a matter of conviction, similar to Gray not using Iced Shell. Erza invited Jellal to join Fairy Tail. He's currently considering the offer and isn't too enthusiastic about it. But if the guild was willing to accept Gajeel destroying the guild and stapling Shadow Gear to a tree, Jellal's not too far from being accepted by the guild. Not because Tower of Heaven isn't objectively worse. Because if the one person in the guild hurt by his actions is willing to accept him, no one else has any reason to reject him. Especially considering she might become the next guild leader if Makarov dies (again).

And all the while, they genuinely get flustered at the idea of being in a relationship with each other. The notion of a Jerza romance is treated as all but a certainty by characters familiar with them multiple times in canon, including the the past few chapters we’ve got from the sequel. As far as I can tell, no one operates under the assumption this ship isn't happening. Nothing has convinced me this shouldn't be the case.

What can I say of Nalu in this regard?

It's one thing if I question whether or not Nalu will happen. I've never seriously liked it and have outright said it won't and shouldn't happen multiple times for multiple reasons. In years past, I probably would point to that and call it a day. But, if there’s any benefit to being away for the past few months, I’ve had time to justify something crazy.

For the past few years, Nalu fans have questioned if the ship will happen. People who like the ship genuinely wonder if Mashima will make the ship happen or if they're right to doubt its prospects. I've seen this all over the internet, not just here on Tumblr. It’s a question people bring up on Reddit. It’s mentioned in places like Youtube and Twitter.

And as much as people will reassure them that it's going to happen, this isn't true of the other ships in the Big 4. As a fandom, we're convinced Jerza will happen. We're convinced Gruvia will happen. No matter how people feel about them, I don't see anywhere near as many people questioning these ships happening as Nalu.  Gajevy's already happened, and we know how that's supposed to go.

And, to be honest, this has been amazing to notice. Going from everyone taking Nalu for granted to seeing the whispers of Nalu not being as possible genuinely makes me feel so vindicated. When I made my big post about Nalu years back, I was terrified someone would tell me I was wrong and tear down my post as idiotic. If I were to remake that post now, I'd have so much fewer worries making the post. Even making the sequel to that post after Mashima’s supposed positive comments about Nalu at NYCC was so much easier knowing they weren’t meant to be.

It's almost a shame that I've all but run out of things to say about the ship. At this point, there's not a whole lot else for me to say but "I told you so, idiots" to the people who doubted me and those who agreed with me. It's not unlikely that something new will happen that requires me to talk about Nalu between now and Mashima's final decision on the ship. Something always comes up, be it a moment or something in fandom. Some Nalu fans may reply to my posts, and I'll answer them. But nothing to change how we all view Nalu will likely happen for some time.

Is Nalu possible? Yes, Nalu can still happen as long as Mashima's still writing the series. I don't think that a canonized Nalu will look anywhere near as interesting as the fandom wants to believe it would be. However, it's not as if Nalu is entirely impossible. I said that when I made my first long post about Nalu. (I didn't in the sequel because I figured the series was over.) I said that when we learned Mashima didn't plan the ship originally. I still believe that now, despite everything that I've said.

While nothing is set in stone, I'll enjoy all the salt from the Nalu fandom.

Namjoon knew he had to stop this. This... Whatever it was the two of you had. He had found excuses to come see you multiple times throughout the winter, always missing you too much and being unable to stay away for too long. But when you surprised him, secretly coming back to your hometown to be with just him for a week, he wasn't as happy. It was the first reminder of how different your worlds were; he was a grown man minding his career, at an age where he should be seeking marriage and kids. And you? You were skipping school to see your crush.

"I think my daughter has a boyfriend," his best friend casually told him one day soon after that. Namjoon froze, his heart the only thing reacting to those words. But his friend went on nonchalantly, pointing to his ignorance. "I don't mind, of course. I've only told her one thing, and it's not to get pregnant. I don't want her to go through what her mother and I went through, you know? She's at this age... you know? She needs to enjoy her age."

Namjoon... The grown man who should be seeking marriage and kids was fucking this girl. All those times he came inside you, filling you up a little too aggressively– as if deep down he wished he'd knock you up and keep you to himself forever.

When he told you those same words –you need to enjoy your age, you need to be with a peer– you seemed more mad than hurt. But perhaps you understood. You weren't stupid, you too knew this was wrong. But you were still annoyed. Stopped talking altogether, the only news he got from you now came from your father. You did get a boyfriend, or so he was told. And you were doing well with your studies and you were generally living a great student's life.

"You really had to bring him here?"

You chuckled– an evil laugh, he thought. "I thought you'd be happy to see me dating someone my age." When your eyes met his, you made him feel like your positions were switched. So confident while he was almost throwing a tantrum. "What about you?" you asked. "Dating anyone your age?"

On that topic, Namjoon had more than enough women showing interest. And your father, for some reason, was dead set on finding him a wife. All those blind dates he had to escape from! He was simply not interested. He didn't want to admit it was because he was still thinking about you; that no one else would ever be a good replacement for you. He didn't want to because he didn't plan on coming back to you; he had to be the adult, the mature one, and stay away. It was the logical and the right thing to do. He didn't want to admit that, despite all of his intelligence and reason, he still thought about you... Because if he did this would no longer be just some attraction, just some fucking around. If he admitted it was more, what would happen then?

No... this was good. You had already moved on. Enjoying your life the way you were supposed to, a life he had no room to be in. All he had to do now was follow your example.

"Namjoon..."

That text was sent past 2 am on a rainy night in October. The only text he had gotten from you in months. That was all it said yet it made his stomach tight as if you had moaned his name in his ear. As if he knew exactly why you had texted him; needy in the middle of the night, that measly boy surely unable to satisfy you, knowing exactly who could help you at that moment. Fuck... He looked at you until you finally turned back to face him. And surprising both himself and you, he said: "Yes, of course."

"I'm going to sleep," you announced after the dinner was over and you had helped clean up the table. You gave Namjoon a long glance before you disappeared down the hallway. Your parents had moved to the couch, TV on for some music and a game of cards keeping them busy when their friend asked to go to the bathroom. And you heard a soft knock on your door. "I'm assuming you know that's the wrong door you're knocking at," you spoke before you opened. Already in your sleeping outfit that consisted of an oversized t-shirt and just your panties.

"You knew it was me?" Namjoon whispered, eyes still stuck on your thighs.

"My parents don't knock."

You let him in, closing the door behind you and leaning on it as you looked up at him through your lashes.
