Dee-Evolution Raph is the designated turtle caretaker. He says it's just because he's the only one in his family who actually knows how to take care of a turtle, but it's also because he's really the biggest softie of all of them and wants to make sure his very vulnerable little brother is safe... this may apply to alternate universe versions of him, apparently!

@littlemissartemisia my Mikey absolutely adores his new little sister/cousin(?)(Misa) he's always wanted someone younger than him in the family, someone who actually looks up to him. So that he isn't the youngest or baby of the group anymore

Raph has had to take care of his siblings for most of their shared lives. He's going over what all adopting a new child would involve, like spending more money on things and all that.

I just wanted to say, I really love ur art (like, all ur TMNT 2003 stuff, ur TMNT IDW stuff, and ur TMNT: Dark Fate stuff)! It is all really awesome. U have such a cute and nice style, and u can recreate other styles too really well.

Also, as a Leo fan, ur blog has been very nice for that/as a Leo fan too (I love the others too though! They are all great. I just have my favorite).

Besides all the TMNT 2003 stuff, I really liked that TMNT IDW City Fall Leo you did (I love that arc, and I love that Leo look very much. Man, I want an animated adaption of City Fall and/or Foot Leo someday. With that look or something similar, but just as awesome. I want that so much), and that one post with Mikey, Jennika, and Leo texting too!

Ur TMNT: Dark Fate art, comics, descriptions, etc.; have been really interesting and cool so far. I am really interested in ur own iteration! I love how they all have powers (I really liked that kind of thing/stuff w/ Rise), and the powers they have (I think of other powers that would suit them too, but the ones u have defin. suit them very well).

I love them all, though I think Leo and Donnie are my favorites description, design, etc. wise (for the turtles at least). They are all very good though.

I find it interesting that Leo and Raph's powers mirror each other (while Donnie and Mikey's mirror each other), however Donnie and Raph are actually the twins with each other, and Mikey and Leo have some parallels design wise (like the longer bandanna tails, which I love), and are the two younger ones. Idk, I just find that interesting. (Are Mikey and Leo twins too, or just the two younger ones?). Also, even while not the eldest, and in this case, 2nd youngest, Leo can't escape being the Leader lol (like in Rise. Though, with Rise Leo, I see stuff and debates with/about him being 2nd oldest and/or 2nd youngest with him. I like both, though, sometimes I might lean more one or the other).

Man though, what did Splinter do to poor Leo at Age 7 that changed his attitude so much? Now, I am on edge w/ ur version of Splinter. I don't trust him.

Ur Casey and April designs are great too! I love April being really into aliens, and them being cousins! Honestly, that is really inspired.

Really excited for more of ur TMNT: Dark Fate comic and stuff; when u can. Probably one of my favorite TMNT fan versions/iterations I have stumbled across.

One last thing, (sorry for how long this has gotten), but I know u are steadily watching and/or reading the different TMNT versions, and I know u have watched TMNT 2003 and read (at least some of TMNT IDW), and I just wanted to ask how far in TMNT IDW u were in (I am guessing pretty far or all the way through), and if u have started any of the other versions yet?

I think u may have already watched Rise, but don't quote me on that.

I’m glad you liked how i assigned the elements in DF! The ones with opposing elements will have the most conflict with one another 😉 Leo is a year older than Mikey (he is 16 and Mikey is 15)

For DF Splinter: hehe, without going into detail, he imposes a mindset that may not be healthy on his sons. There will come a point where they realize this and have a disagreement

I’m still catching up on IDW, though I am reading issues as they are releasing (so i have read 140!). I am currently on issue 67 :) I have also read The Last Ronin and Lost Years, and the MMPR x TMNT crossover, and I’m reading Saturday Morning Adventures. I have gotten into collecting the comics so theres some others i have as well!

And yep I have seen rise! I am currently watching 2012 and i still need to finish 87. Still need to pick up next mutation, too.

I can tell you who does know! Splinter! He definitely knows and thought they both knew.

Splinter thought he was free when Raph stopped being petty towards him

And then he hears Mikey scolding Leo in the same way Raph scolded him and he just sighs and prepares for round two

The TMNT (and others from the same universe) as Oiraon's! (Oiraon's are a make-believe Closed Species that just look like gryphons, NOT owned/created by me) Silly gryphons that im very much totally not obsessed with. I did not plan on this happening at all, i accidentally turned Leo into an Oiraon when i was bored and went "Damn this is actually a cool idea, F* it we ball" and decided that ill turn the rest into Oiraon's because i couldnt resist the temptation <3

Yeah, they all (or most) have different names than in the show, partly because id already named Tzaoul, but also to make them fit smoother into the Oiraon universe! I challenged myself to convey their Oiraon version with just looks and vibes alone, i want you to be able to guess who is who without an OG name giving it away >:)

At the moment, Tzaoul/Leo is finished but all secret-y hush-hush because he has exclusive traits that havent been released yet :) and i cant spoil it.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Dark Fate

Four baby turtles lost in the sewers of New York City were found by a mutant rat. The rat -- Master Splinter -- raised the turtles as his own sons, and trained them in the art of ninjutsu. Once the boys matured into teens, their master gifted them sacred artifacts -- emblems that imbued each of the turtles with their own unique and powerful elemental ability. With their own abilities and the powers they were gifted, the turtles soon find an enemy in the great and evil Foot Clan and their master -- the murderous Shredder. While at war with the Foot, the turtles also struggle with their own internal war. Was this all coincidence, or are they the subject of a dark fate?

Meet the Turtles!

LEONARDO

Element: Water Age: 16

The only of his brothers to have been found separately by Master Splinter. Despite this, as well as being the second youngest brother, Splinter had made them the leader of the group. While young, he was as carefree and easygoing as his brothers, however, by age 7 he had abruptly become serious about his training, and practiced excessively. He holds a deep respect for Splinter and is quick to follow his orders.

RAPHAEL

Element: Fire Age: 17

The oldest brother, he felt responsible for his siblings growing up. However, when Splinter began to focus more on Leo and his training, he began to develop a short temper and more irritable personality. He became competitive towards his younger brother, and would constantly vie for Splinter's attention. This frequently ended with him being scolded and punished. Now, he holds a heavy grudge and deep jealousy for his younger brother.

DONATELLO

Element: Darkness Age: 17

Raph's younger twin brother. He is constantly tired, and has a tendency to spontaneously fall asleep. In part due to his chronic narcolepsy, he seems somewhat out of touch. In reality, he is aware of the tension and strained relationship between his two brothers, and tries to take an objective approach to resolving it. However, his fact-driven mindset and flat personality has made his own relationship with Mikey awkward.

MICHELANGELO

Element: Light Age: 15

The youngest brother, he is brimming with optimism and cheer. He greatly looks up to Raph and is deeply troubled by his brother's emotional issues. He is generally sensitive to the feelings of others and is driven by emotion, causing him to have an awkward relationship with his more objective brother, Donnie. He has made himself responsible for the overall stability of the team.

I have a question. About the Dark Fate au. Because I’m already very interested in Donnie.

Has he ever fallen asleep at a *really* inconvenient time? Like in the middle of a fight or even a really important conversation?

Oh also, does he still invent things?

(Can I also say that your art style is so so pretty. I also really like Donnie’s design he is so cool.)

And how exactly do the powers work? Is it on a large scale or a very small one (Like Raph causing a massive inferno rather than a fireball)? Or do they have to train to improve that? And Donnie and Mikey’s?

Yep, Donnie has a bad record of having sleep attacks at the worst possible times. The exact moment his brothers need him to diffuse a bomb, for example lol (don't worry, he wakes up and turns it off just in time 😌)

Despite his condition he is trained well and his brothers don't worry about him during combat. He can fight Foot soldiers in his sleep.....literally

And of course, a Donnie is a Donnie and DF Donnie is no different! Since he has trouble sleeping through the night, he's often working on his tech at odd hours. When he's in focus mode, he has headphones on and his brothers know not to disturb him. He particularly enjoys making toys!

So each turtle is given a special artifact called an "emblem." You can see some of these emblems in the promo picture, but here are them all!

Simply wearing the emblem attunes the wearer to the associated element. It takes a lot of training and discipline to have full control of an element however, and the turtles are still in training. Strong emotions or weak mental strength can have catastrophic consequences -- and the wearer can become consumed by the emblem's power.

I made this doodle awhile back, but this is roughly how each of their powers work!

Leo and Raph's are pretty straightforward, Leo can control water and Raph can control fire. Donnie manifests his power over darkness mainly by controlling shadows. Meanwhile, Mikey can produce balls of light which he can blast at enemies (and he later learns that he can also make himself glow in the dark lol).
