The deeper I fall into the Child's Play fandom rabbit hole, the weirder it becomes how hard it is to get any information on how these complex face and hand animatronics are actually designed/built. Like these are pretty damn advanced robots; where are the blueprints???

So many simple questions you'd think you could easily find the answers to but I can't anywhere:

Are they using the same puppet for the television show that they did in the original 1988 film, or did they make a brand new one?

How many of these robots did they make? Are they all still the property of Don Mancini, or have some been auctioned off as memorabilia?

The closest I could find to getting any straight answers was this video, and this just raised more questions!

Maintenance is a comic about a lesbian robot with an infatuation with her creator—especially when she performs routine upkeep tasks—and the intricate ritual of cord management. very self indulgent, wanted an excuse to draw butches and nonsensical tech parts. enjoy! :) -court

Cyberpunk glasses : view_finder made by @lizije

//: I made these cool cyberpunk or steampunk-esque glasses from my old Maki Zenin jjk cosplay! Using these old glasses brought a new fun activity for me to do by opening up and breaking down my old favorite digital camera for scrap parts that became broken and was unable to be fixed. I also used spare gundam model kit parts for this to give that additional mecha/mechanical look to it. I loved creating this as It brought something that I once loved (my camera) into something fun and interactive! I used the digital camera viewfinder and added it to the glasses as I thought it’d be cool and give that immersive feel of steampunk or cyberpunk tinkers making gears. When you wear it, it also can zoom in and out so you can see up close!!! I named this glasses piece “view_finder” in memento of my favorite camera.

Solenoids go clicky-clacky 🔩🔊🤖

We're testing out an I2C-to-solenoid driver today. It uses an MCP23017 expander. We like this particular chip for this usage because it has push-pull outputs, making it ideal for driving our N-channel FETs and flyback diodes. The A port connects to the 8 drivers, while the B port remains available for other GPIO purposes. For this demo, whenever we 'touch' a pin on port B to ground, the corresponding solenoid triggers provide an easy way to check speed and power usage.

Unconventional animal crossing post but I've been keeping tabs on my town remodel and saving screenshots of my map as I go. Thought it'd be interesting to share! I think it makes the whole process feel more rewarding. 🗺️🚧

A little over halfway there! I gotta find spots for three houses (two I have an idea for already), bring the museum and campsite in closer, start the process of my rock garden/dig site (send me the strength, woof) and start putting together my haunted forest/ruins which are going to line the entire backside of my island (leading up to the secret beach). I ordered new amiibos so there will be some different villagers soon, too! 🐐🐙🤖🦩
