Dinosaurs: The Living Descendants We Share Today
By Ariel This morning, Alice ran into the kitchen, eyes wide with excitement, hugging Mr. Fluffernutter tightly. “Ariel! Mr. Fluffernutter saw a dinosaur outside our window!” she declared. I nearly choked on my cereal. A dinosaur? I peered outside, half expecting to see a towering T. rex stomping through our backyard. Instead, a small bird was hopping along the fence, pecking at…

I wonder if there are more of these, I've been fascinated by these pictures from when I first saw them, like, a billion years ago.
If I could afford it, I would do so much micro-photography, maybe not as zoomed in as these, but definitely with my rock collection, because then I could get rid of a whole bunch of rocks lol.
On a random note, I helped out with a university summer science week for senior high school students during the main school holidays back home in AoNZ, with the geology department. One of the activities we did with kids was to collect a sandstone rock from the peninsula up the coast, bring it back, do the whole 'extract the fossil plankton (like, foraminifera or ostracods, etc.) from the rock and then set the kids to 'picking' the micro-fossils from the results. The kids were so happy just spending an hour or two randomly picking tiny fossils of this processed rock mix, and I remember being much the same during my geology undergrad. I mean, I was shite at the technical stuff, and identifying anything (I literally would rather dig up fossils and prep them, than figuring out all the science around them lol), because hyper-fixating, but it was fascinating and somewhat relaxing!
I'm a binocular/stereo microscope! I'm what you use to scout out your 'picks'. I'm going to give you headache after headache when you hyper-fixate on 'picking' microfossils...
After you've smashed up your rock, and boiled it, effectively 'disaggregating' (pulling the rock apart, like, a lot) with dish soap and some other chemical I can't remember, you're left with something similar to this. Oh, and you have to dry it out first, like, under heat lamps.
Then, spread a bit of the fossil/rock remnant mix onto a tray, like below (though, we had round ones that for the life of my I cannot find a picture of on the net #lesigh),

and using a super-fine paintbrush, (and sometimes we'd also use wooden dowels that had small metal poles with a rounded tip put into them - DIY Kiwi-style, yo...) sort through your mix.
Once you've found/isolated a likely specimen that isn't just a piece of fancy sand, or shell piece, or fish bone (though you can add these to your tray if you want), and you've remembered to moisten the paintbrush tip, either with water or handy-dandy saliva from your very own mouth (you would not believe how much time this saves, though no sharing paintbrushes in these disease-ridden times), you can use said moistened brush to pick up your target and add it to your super-special micro-fossil slide!
Above is an unused tray that has been pulled apart (ignore the slide with the circle, the grid one is where we are at). To put it back together once you're done 'picking', the glass slide goes overtop the cardboard 'grid' slide, and then they both slide into the metal tray. One would generally place groups of similar 'tests' (or shells) in the same grid number to identify later (or at the same time if you had mad skills).
We'd sometimes use a bit of green dye (and no, we didn't put the green dye in our mouths first...) to stain the tiny shells to help make identification easier.
Of course you ask what is the actual point of all this, other than a delightful, sometimes headache-inducing, way to pass a few hours in an activity that should be rather boring? Well. I'm going to tap into my memory and hope like hell that I recall this shite correctly. The main reason is being able to use these wee buggers to link a layer (or layers) of rock in different areas, because if you've got a couple of microfossils in one area, and the same types in another area, you can be all 'check-out-the-correlating-rocks-yo'. Or something. This is called biostratigraphy. It's especially useful if one rock layer is near a datable-by-isotype-type-rock like lava rocks, because then you can extrapolate that shite everywhere, and voila! Dateable rocks! And organised rocks!
Species change though time because of that pesky evolution thing, or completely unsubscribe from life, and can be linked to age ranges (like an upper and a lower limit from when they are first found and when they are last found in a rock) in the geological time scale. Of course, the geological timescale lives to confuse, and add in localised time periods that link to localised rock formation names (I'll explain later #lesighpartdeux) that somehow tie into the epochs and eras and before long:
BUT THAT'S NOT ALL! Micro-palaeontology (or micro-pal, for those of us cool geology kids) is used extensively in the oil/gas exploration industry, for better or worse, well, worse really, but yeah, via the whole biostratigraphy schtick (they drill a core (like, a long shaft of rock) and then figure out the rock types and use microfossils to date and correlate, and then use it when they are already in an oil 'field' to check where the right rocks are, because it's not normally flat layers of rocks awaiting exploitation. It's more like a jumbled up jigsaw puzzle with some parts of the same rock up, some down, some folded/squashed together, some starting to get a little baked, and some eroded away long before the rest of the rocks were buried. Fun stuff all around!):
(I spent far too long in Publisher making this stupid representative graphic and I can already see things I've missed out *LABELS ANYONE???* but oh well...) but also there's this thing called palaeoecology AND also also palaeoclimatology that are super useful for establishing past climates and environments, which I'll go into later because this is getting stupid long and my brain is fried and needs sleep but I've got one last thing that I want to mention that may be one of the greatest things ever about geology and palaeontology and micro-pal and so on and so forth.
!!!!!OTOLITHS!!!!
WHAT ARE OTOLITHS, I HEAR YOU ASK?????
Fossilised fish ears! Who would have thought? I didn't even really think fish could hear underwater, which I believe such dimness is called BEING A MUPPET in my culture...
But it's true! I remember being so so so so so confused when I was picking forams for some geology lab and there were these funny shaped things in my rock mix. And they have such a variety of shapes.
And that's all for now, must sleep, will prolly revise this since it's prolly a load of crap geoscicomm but I'll get there! Happy micro-paling!
when i die i hope i come back as a beautiful microscopic granule of sand

AI helped me come up with an animal crossing theme park.
Of course! Imagine a whimsical Animal Crossing-themed theme park called "Animal Village Park." Here's a glimpse of what it could include:
Mayor's Welcome Plaza: A grand entrance resembling the Welcome Plaza in the game, with Isabelle greeting visitors and providing information about the park.
Villager Village: A section with colorful, cute houses representing different Animal Crossing villagers. Visitors can tour the houses and meet costumed characters resembling the villagers.
Nook's Market & Shopping District: An area mimicking the in-game shops where visitors can buy Animal Crossing merchandise and unique items.
Fishing Pier & Bug Catching Garden: An interactive zone where visitors can try fishing and bug catching, just like in the game.
Fossil Dig Site: A mini archaeological dig site where visitors can "unearth" replica fossils similar to those found in the museum in Animal Crossing.
Orchard and Flower Fields: Lush gardens filled with various fruits, flowers, and trees, allowing visitors to enjoy a leisurely stroll and pick virtual fruits.
KK Slider's Music Stage: A stage for live performances featuring songs by KK Slider and other characters from the game.
Turnip Stock Market: A playful area inspired by the turnip market, where visitors can participate in fun trading games and activities.
Island Adventure Zone: An outdoor adventure zone with activities like rock climbing, zip-lining, and obstacle courses, inspired by island exploration in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Seasonal Events Pavilion: A flexible event space that hosts seasonal-themed events, like Cherry Blossom Festival, Bug-Off, Fishing Tourney, and more.
Museum Experience: A replica museum featuring sections for fossils, insects, fish, and artwork, offering an educational yet entertaining experience.
Tom Nook's Creative Workshop: A workshop area where visitors can participate in arts and crafts inspired by Animal Crossing, like DIY crafting and painting.
The Roost Café: A cozy café where visitors can enjoy coffee and pastries, inspired by Brewster's café in the game.
Resetti's Underground Adventure: An interactive maze or ride inspired by Mr. Resetti's character and his underground hideout.
Animal Village Park would capture the charm and magic of the Animal Crossing world, offering a delightful and immersive experience for fans of all ages!

steampunk ABSOLUTELY began as a DIY thing. In like 2006 my friends and I were buying up broken pocketwatches on ebay for a few bucks a pound, trolling thriftstores and hardware stores for stuff to work with and making stuff on our own, teaching ourselves new skills in order to do it. politically, steampunk was a really mixed bag; there absolutely were people in it who were 100 percent british empire fetishists. Interestingly to me, those were the people who constantly insisted that steampunk wasn't and couldn't be political; they insisted it was a purely aesthetic movement and that their embrace of imperialist or orientalist aesthetics had no political implications whatsoever. I did not like those people, and I did not hang out with them (at least, not without getting into arguments with them about it) But as @moniquill pointed out, that 19th century was not just one thing, and there are as many rich sources of inspiration to be found in RESISTANCE to the empire, robber barons, and royalty as there are in tea n crumpets pip pip airship shit. Most of my later engagement in steampunk was through the anarchist community. Yes, there was a thriving anarchist scene within steampunk. This should surprise no one, given that steampunk began as a DIY art subculture, but it should also surprise no one because there was a thriving anarchist movement during the era that inspired steampunk! by the time spirit halloween was selling ready made steampunk costumes, you had to dig a little deeper to find the interesting political stuff, but it was always there, in the works @moniquill linked to, among others. punk was also co-opted to sell merchandise, but that doesn't mean punk was never punk. as far as steampunk being why solarpunk is an aesthetic and not an ideology, I don't think I follow at all. there's an aesthetic out there, and a genre of art and fiction, and that's great, because art and fiction inspires real action. my steampunk "ideology" was basically "studying and reimagining the past can be a useful and fun way to study and reimagine the present and the future." steampunk wasn't my ONLY or even my core ideology. solarpunk doesn't have to be anyone's either, but it absolutely can be, if they want, and I don't see how the presence of aesthetic solarpunk work could take a way from that. if solarpunk isn't living up to what you want it to be, DO something about it! organize a solarpunk-inspired direct action of some kind, whether that's community gardening, food distro, or protest against fossil fuels. you gotta DIY if you want it to happen.
i never understood what made steampunk punk. romanticizing georgian era england and industrial revolutions are some of the least punk things ever. youre putting gears on a top hat

I have a feeling that Animal Crossing Yuu will definitely leave bugs all over Jamil's room after the Scarabia Chapter. Like, Jamil is tired and need some sleep. Once he is in bed he starts to doze of but something lands on his face. When he grabs it and looks at it, he sees a spider is in his hand. Cue loud screaming. Pretty sure Yuu will also use their skills to cause trouble, especially on the dorm leaders.
Mekdnfbebd If Animal Crossing Yuu decided to do a prank war, this would be one of the pranks.
Alternatively, here are some other chaotic things AC! Yuu would do:
Dig up most if not all of the Rose bushes and put them in front of the Heartslybul dorm; making it a maze and a nuisance for anyone trying to get in or out.
Leaving a bunch of animal themed DIY items they crafted scattered around Scarabia.
Slowly raising the ground with nothing but a shovel starting from the bottom of the floor of Octavinelle.
Alternatively, redecorating Mostro Lounge with some…”charming” furniture.
Wacking people on the head with a net multiple times.
Giving people unnecessary gifts.
Redecorating everything.
Definetly leaves more than boxed tarantulas in Scarabia. Maybe the occasional cicada hidden during the time of season.
Leaving dangerous amounts of holes and pit falls for Pomfiore students to fall into.
Definitely leaves a shark in a tank in the cafeteria. Or a very large t-Rex fossil.
Imagine Yuu sending Idia these random outfits and sending him gifts and notes that passively aggressively say to go outside and socialize.
Malleus gets more friends because Yuu invites him to any events they have :) (Not a prank, but I’d imagine Yuu does this)
Imagine Yuu building a house for someone close to Ramshackle just for anyone who needs a place to stay during the holidays.

playing animal crossing together hcs
warning(s): slightly ooc kaeya but other than that, none :]
hcs, fluff, gender neutral reader, modern au
characters included: childe, albedo, kazuha, kaeya
---
childe
he's not that big of a fan of animal crossing and only really knows about it because of you and his siblings but when you guys tell him about the new update, he's interested
childe practically speedruns to get to 3 stars on his island so that he's able to cook, it's the main thing he's interested in after all.
you want to exchange cute gifts with him? yeah, good luck with that. he's obsessed with the fishing and cooking mechanics so your gifts will be interesting to say the least.
once he plays the game for awhile, he ends up buying everyone the dlc !!
if tarantulas and scorpions scare you in animal crossing, he'll absolutely help you out by catching one for you. will he watch you get attacked by them and laugh his ass off? yes but he'll help afterwards and that's what matters.
his island is definitely named pen island btw
albedo
he originally started playing because klee convinced him to
and surprise to no one, he's a sucker for the museum
his main goal is to fully complete the museum. fossils? art? bugs? you name it, he wants it all.
speaking of art, he's so offended the first time he gets scammed by redd. he takes it personally and is so skeptical from that point on when trying to buy anything.
albedo's island is a little messy but at least his house has a consistent theme. he made it lab themed, at least so he says. he keeps extra creatures he's fascinated by in there along with extra fossils he didn't have room for outside or in the museum
surprisingly dislikes blathers. at first he listened to what blathers would say but ended up not liking his facts and shrugged it off to go get his own knowledge.
albedo lets you and klee drag him around your islands !! he likes seeing what you guys have done differently from him with this game. also he will absolutely ask for your extra fossils or creatures if he sees that you have some.
kazuha
he hasn't heard much about this game until you bring it up one day when you see the autumn leaves and say they remind you of him. after seeing what it looks like and seeing how happy you are, he's like well now i have to play.
kazuha isn't huge on time skipping but you end up convincing him so that he's able to progress faster and get all the special diy recipes that he wants
it takes kazuha a bit to get used to everything but as soon as he does, he immediately gets to work. you knew that his island was going to be autumn themed but he did it all so well and he had barely even started.
he's gotten every single autumn diy recipe in such a short time not to mention his house has a whole consistent red theme. you're not quite sure how but he's slowly surpassing you in this game if even possible.
he sets aside a little spot near the top of his island surrounded by trees and flowers and brings you to it one night. he's got a little picnic set up and everything so you two can sit and watch shooting stars on an animal crossing date.
kaeya
he bought you this game and at first you thought it was so sweet that he got you a game that you both could enjoy together but then you remembered who you were dating
kaeya already has a 5 star island by the time you're starting and he got a little bored so naturally the next best thing is help you start your own, at least that's what he says. it doesn't take long for you to start finding pitfall seeds all over your island. not the mention whenever he visits your island, he also makes sure to give you the ugliest furniture he can find
his jokes do have limits though. when he digs holes around or cuts down trees for fun, he always makes sure to only do a few and not get carried away.
in addition, he does actually help you from time to time. whether if be dropping off crazy amounts of bells or giving you advice on what to do next
if you ever manage to get him to fall into his own pitfall or even set up one of your own, he'll always pretend he's disappointed but honestly he loves seeing you smile or laugh over this game. though he'll never admit it and will try and start a prank war out of spite
#hope my animal crossing knowledge suffices#genshin impact x reader#childe x reader#albedo x reader#kazuha x reader#kaeya x reader#genshin impact imagines#genshin impact hcs

The boys, Animal Crossing New Horizon and you! (Head canons in regards to ACNH) 🌴
I've been intensely playing Animal Crossing the past few days and so I thought of this, hope you enjoy! 💐
-----------------------------
Cartman:
Is really strict with his island. He got his mother to buy loads of the amiibo cards so he can only have villagers he likes.
The ones he didn't like got a net to their head everytime they dared to leave the house.
He proudly shows it off to you whenever he can.
He also let's you borrow his cards so you can have villagers you like. You're still not allowed to have his favorites though.
Stan:
Only got into it because you forced him to try it.
He enjoys it like hell.
Island's a bit chaotic, he doesn't really care about making it pretty or tidying up, but he talkes to his villagers a lot.
He's more keen on filling the museum and it brings him joy
It's nice to see him so enthusiastic about something so small.
Anything he already has he donates to your museum.
Kyle:
Really tidy town. Like. Woah. It's so neat and organized.
Wants to fill the museum like Stan, but is rather chill about it.
He's into breeding flowers.
He has all hybrids and gifts them to you when he has enough, so you can have some too.
He made a little seating area just for you guys and he is really a sucker for the holidays and always spends them together with you.
Kenny:
He doesn't have his own switch, but you let him have yours.
Sometimes even overnight so he can do his little surprises and play with Karen for a bit. You don't mind that, since you know he protects the switch with his life.
His surprises often entail drawing a penis with the path tool somewhere.
Otherwise he sends you cute letters from time to time with furniture or something similar attached.
His house is close to yours and you made him his parka in-game with the design tool. He refuses to wear anything else.
Butters:
The most adorable island you will ever see.
Everything is incredibly cute and he takes it serious. He plays every day.
He makes lists to he keeps track of the villagers he needs to talk to, what flowers he needs etc.
When you get cute DIYs or furniture you gift it to him and he adores it.
The centerpiece of his island is a pink rose heart for you.
You got him the new Hello Kitty furniture as soon as it came out.
Clyde:
Messy. Island. He doesn't really pick up sticks or weed and it's funny to him how much it annoys you.
He doesn't really care about his villagers either. If he hates them, he won't talk to them and wait til they move out.
The ones he likes he keeps track of, like making sure he talked to them and sometimes gifts them stuff he doesn't need anymore.
Since he doesn't care too much, he happily gifts you anything you want if he has it.
Token:
A clean and neat island.
He makes these beautiful decorated places for your characters to sit down at while you talk over discord.
He's happy with any villager and is friendly to all.
Also happily gifts you furniture and always let's you have any villager you're interested in.
He loves the holidays and enjoys fishing a lot. Catching bugs, digging up fossils and the other stuff not so much.
Craig:
Animal Farm.
He builds anything Space or Animals related and that's the overall theme for is island.
His favorite thing is crafting the celestial/zodiac furniture and the cherry blossom DIYs.
Made it big with turnips and decorates his house a lot. One room is a special place for you.
His island is neatly decorated but not as stunningly as the other guys.
Tweek:
He's the person who constantly forgets about his turnips.
He will buy a lot, store them in his house and only remember them when he walks into the room a week later.
You gifted him money though because you felt so bad. You don't mind doing that, because he's just so forgetful.
He build a cute little coffeeshop where you two can sit down at.
He's also into flowers and also has every single one. They are neatly organized and are a beautiful addition to his otherwise sparely decorated island.

Things I Want In A New Animal Crossing New Horizons Update That We Probably Won’t Get
1. New fish/bugs/fossils to find
There are so many different fish and bug and extinct species that exist. Imagine catching a Blob Fish or a Maple Moth! Could you imagine digging up an Irish Elk fossil or a Ground Sloth? Also there’s only so much to do in ACNH, the game gets boring after a while. We need new things to find
2. New clothes and a shopping cart at Able Sisters
I literally have no use for the Able Sisters anymore. Give me new clothes to wear. And give us a shopping cart so we can buy more than one shirt or pair of shoes or pants at a time.
3. New crops
Give me a reason to keep using Kapp’n. Give me cucumbers or green beans or watermelon! There are so many things you can grow! Herbs!! Also new fruit trees! Bananas! Pomegranates! Starfruits! Avocado!
4. New cooking recipes
Basically a follow up to #3, give us new things to cook with those new crops and fish! I love the cooking and I need more!!
5. Give Celeste her own area in the museum
Like in Animal Crossing City Folk I want her observatory back! Let us find/look at constellations!
6. New hairstyles
Let me change my hair up more! Hair is amazing, you can do anything with it! Let me split dye it, let me ombré it! Let me put it up in new gun ways!
7. Change things up for the holiday prizes
Once you do the Halloween or Thanksgiving activities, you never have to do them again. It’s the same prizes every year. Change it up! Make it fun to do the quests again!
8. Ordering specialized coffee for villagers
It was sooo fun to do this and it will also give me a reason to keep seeing Brewster.
9. Bring back Club LOL
Give me Dr. Shrunk 😡😡. Give me the funny guy again.
10. More terraforming options.
I know this is a stretch but let us make different cliff shapes, let us make things like tunnels, caves, hills, rocky cliffs, expanded beaches. More pathway types and for the love of god, remove the grass patches underneath buildings and between pathway types.
11. BULK CRAFTING!!!
I don’t wanna keep making things one by one! It’s so time consuming and annoying! Let me make like 30 fish bates at the same time!!!!!!!
12. Familiars or pets to follow you
Listen, I literally just had this idea while playing that it would be so cool to have a little pet follow you around. Could you imagine like a little bat or whatever following you? It be so cute!
13. Being able to go from one mystery island to the next without having to go home first.
It would save so much time to just go from one to the other without having to go through all the dialogue with the dodo birds.
14. The ability to change your islands name
I don’t wanna have to restart my whole island just to change the name. I’m just not feeling it’s name anymore, let me change it.
15. More Nooks Cranny upgrades
I want a bigger selection of items! I want more than just 5 things a day.
16. Weather app
I saw someone on Reddit talk about this and I couldn’t agree more. It would be cool to know when it’s gonna rain seeing as some bugs/fish only show up in the rain. It’d just be really cool to have.
17. I want more attitude from villagers
That stuff was funny. I want it back.
18. Post Office
I know you can send mail at the airport but i miss Pete, Phyllis, and Pelly. Plus it could give us a new building to put on the island.
19. GracieGrace
Bring back Grace the giraffe and her unreasonably expensive furniture!! Speaking of new furniture there was so much stuff in the previous games that haven’t been added to NH.
20. Easier way to get missing DIY’s
A new NPC that will help you get diys you are missing would be amazing. When they visit you can trade 10 duplicate diys cards and they could give you a diy you haven’t found yet!
————————————————————— I know this is a long list but all of these things would be sooo coool 😫😫😫

Museum Idea
I really love Blathers and the museum part of Animal Crossing, I loved the addition of diving for sea creatures in this game, but there is something else that I think would be interesting to add. Why not create a rock and mineral exhibit.
Personally, I think they could be easily added into the game. You could either dig them up daily like fossils or you could have a chance to find one while hitting rocks for materials. This would also then be used to make a small line of DIY crafts. I was thinking of something like a specimen shelf similar to the glowing moss-jar shelves.
I really love this idea, but maybe I am biased, because I am a geologist and would love nothing more than to listen to Blathers teach basic geology each time I gave him a rock.

Side Note: I have played Animal Crossing since I was a kid and I remember always having my house filled with the lovely furniture items and having a ton of fossils right beside them. Animal Crossing, in part, probably influenced my love and interest in geology and was the reason I would always go out looking for fossils as a kid (apart from having nothing else to do because we live in the middle of nowhere). It would be amazing to me if they added it to the game, if only to potentially inspire children to think of geology as a career, because which has been suffering greatly due to people just never really considering it because it is not as mainstream as biology, chemistry, or physics.

Playing ACNH hcs ♡‧₊˚
here’s some hcs of Atsumu, Kuroo, Suna, and Akaashi playing animal crossing bc it’s been on my mind :3
。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚
Atsumu
Gave into the hype just so he could say yeah I game 🙄😴 (he only has a switch bc the rest of inarizaki play smash)
Named his island “island”
He literally chose the most inconvenient layout when he started. His resident services is right smack in front of his airport so there’s like barely a sliver of walking space AND it’s slightly to the left so it ain’t even centered 💔
When the rest of inarizaki comes over to visit, he ends up getting slaughtered for his lack of “appealing scenery” and influx of weeds 😭 Osamu, Suna, and Aran are leading the revolution
Do NOT invite this mf over to your island he will trample all over your flowers, INCLUDING the hybrids. Isn’t even aware of the damage he’s caused until you’re chasing him with an axe and gifting him trash every day for the next two weeks
Gets on his knees and begs you for spare 30 iron nuggets 🤲🏼🥺
Listen he knows all villagers are created equal✨ and whatnot but he still screams every time he sees an ugly villager arrive at his campsite. He saw Limberg once, said No ❤️ and immediately closed out of the game
Whenever a villager he hates moves in, he spends a half hour straight hitting them with his net bc he thinks thats gonna get them to move out lmfao
Tries out all the tricks for getting a good island when he’s going villager hunting like clapping for Orville, showing up in dodo merch, etc
“Uhhh, you know it’s completely randomized right..? None of them actually work.” “Shut yer trap 🥰″
Man... he really sets his villagers’ nicknames for him as “daddy”
“What if you let me clap your cheeks in front of tom nook” “Upgrade your resident services first then we’ll talk, musty ❤️″
Kuroo
Denies, denies, denies that he plays the game he’s always like “nah, that’s for kids”
But literally everyone gets the notification that he’s playing all the time bc he doesn’t realize his online status is visible to everyone LMFAO
When you expose him, he just claims that Kenma forced him to try it out like ok Mr. 220+ hours 🙄
Horror themed island!!! He gets real creative with it - everything’s strategically placed and he’s got all sorts of rare and hacked items to work with, courtesy of Kenma’s activities on the black market. He has a lot of references to Japanese folklore sprinkled throughout his island
Naturally, Lucky’s his favorite villager; also has a soft spot for Kiki
NAH DON’T INVITE HIM TO YOUR ISLAND .. its so sad he’ll be looking around like “aww, it’s cute” JDSKHKDSHJ the humiliation
But he actually loves spending time on yours bc its such a change from his usual Eeerie one
Loves doing tarantula/scorpion islands - he’s got the patience n willpower to travel to a random island and turn it into a goldmine for scorpions
U guys will help each other out by tag teaming a gigas giant clam together and it turns into one big screaming match lmao
“It’s right by you!” “Ok, on the count of 3, I’ll lead it that way to corner it and you swoop in for the catch”
Yaku once commented on how his museum’s kinda empty and he let it get to him. He’s obsessed with digging up every fossil and catching every minuscule bug to make sure his collection’s complete like bro!!! It’s fine!!! Your island’s still better than mine!!!
Suna
Mf was able to snag the animal crossing edition of the switch before they all sold out
I feel like his island would be one of those cyberpunk tokyoesque ones. You: yeah my boyfriend’s a professional landscaper 🥰
The secret: he gets zooted when he’s terraforming at 3am
Really comes over to collect his diy from Celeste, laughs at your island, and dips
ALWAYS dripped out. U will NOT catch him slipping
Never has his net in his hand when he shakes trees bc he wants to be Daring
Blocked Atsumu for stealing his flowers when he wasn’t looking
The type to mass buy nook mile tickets on ebay and go on villager hunting sprees for his dreamies. You’ve often witnessed him on the brink of madness at 4am as he comes across Hippeux for the 11th time
Joins discord servers and participates in cataloging parties. He’s got the best items and color combos for everything. Also an avid user of nookazon
You: just a smidget of bells plth 🥺🥺🤲🏼🤲🏼
He pays off your debts for you 💅🏼
Makes you continuously press A to collect shooting stars for him when he goes to the bathroom.
You: I’m tired I don’t wanna do this anymore
Him: That’s nice ❤️
He lets you take some star fragments in the morning tho for compensation
Hates talking to his villagers tbh bc its the same dialogue over and over again so he only interacts with them when he wants to give them fits
Gifts raymond the maid dress
He likes to lay on you and nuzzle into you as best he can when you’re both playing. You’ll both just lay there in a comfortable silence, doing your own thing n it’s honestly so therapeutic
Akaashi
He’s got a european town inspired theme going on - the color palette throughout his island is immaculate
It’s infuriating how perfect his island is when he isn’t even a time traveler. It took you months WITH time traveling to achieve an island that you’re somewhat satisfied with and he’s sitting there like yeah I hit 5 stars after three weeks❤️
You: ok jobless❤️
His museum’s fire; every time he collects a species for the first time, he immediately takes it to blathers. His fossil collection is also like 99% complete. The only thing that bothers him is how dry his art gallery is, so you always have to text him when redd’s on your island
Really vibes with Wolfgang
Managed to actually get all his rocks in a circle to make a rock garden??
You: HOW
Him: I don’t kiss and tell
Stargazing dates!!!! He always lets you know when there’s a meteor shower on his island and has the cutest lil stargazing area just for you two to hang out at
Usually plays the game muted so when he’s fishing he actually watches for the bob??? instead of turning that shit up on full blast and listening for the blubblub???
He’s shameless abt how much he wants Raymond and has spent a ridiculous amount of tickets looking for him. “He’s a cat with glasses and different colored eyes!!!!!”
When you got Raymond to move in to your island, he kept trying to convince you to gift him to him. This sweet talking mf kept trying to shower you with kisses and cuddles to get you to say yes.
“I’m not putting him in boxes.” “Go off 🧚♂️😍🤩 that cliff over there 🧚♂️🧚♂️💕”

Avengers Preference: How They Play Animal Crossing
A/N: This is only the original members, but I can expand it to more characters/fandoms if y'all like this as much as the Peaky Blinders version :D 💕
Tony time travels like it's his job. He can't stand waiting for the trees and flowers to grow or for his house to expand. He also can't help how curious he gets when new seasons are introduced. It always comes with new bugs, new fish, etc. He does have a soft spot for the spring when the cherry blossoms appear. Loves watching his little guy run around. Can't stand the small talk with his residents nor can he stand the daily announcements. If he could skip over all of it, he would. Definitely designs clothes to look like the Iron Man suit. Morgan visits his island often from her own game. He leaves as many gifts as she can carry.
Steve definitely gets apples as his fruit. He loves when it rains and the snails come out. They are his favorite thing to catch and has a collection. Names all of them, as well, like they’re his pets. Has no idea how to decorate his home, so it kinda looks like rooms filled with the most random stuff. Still, he tries his best. Secretly gets help from Natasha, who turns his mess into something nice and coherent. He still doesn’t quite understand the point of it all, but he enjoys playing regardless. Enjoys getting the season diy’s, especially the fall ones. Something about the acorns just makes him smile. Tries to talk to all of his neighbors as much as possible. He likes getting to know them and surprise them with things they might like. Everyone makes fun of him when he gets stung by wasps because they’re the one bug he absolutely sucks at catching.
Natasha seeks out tarantula island. Like Steve with his snails, he brings some home and names them. Adores Cherry and Lucky. They are her favorite residents. Brags about getting rare islanders no one else can seem to find, let along get to move in. Gets a little too competitive when it comes to the games or when other characters show up, like the fishing competition or catching bugs. She knows she’s the best at it, the game is just slow. Does need to walk away from her console, especially if the fish are being tricky and hard to catch. Will swear at Tom Nook or at Redd if he’s sold her art that’s not authentic. Spends a lot of time wishing on stars, looking for shooting stars every night. She get’s really excited when the zodiac stars show up on the beaches. The magic wand is her favorite diy. Names outfits after her teammates without telling them.
Clint has a purple roof, purple mailbox, purple everything. Even Little Clint is dressed in purple. Searches every day for a bow and arrow either at Nooks Cranny or with the Able sisters. His kids definitely run his island. He's lucky if he can play for a little while after they've gone to bed. Loves fishing especially. It’s quite calming, and he can’t help but get excited when he catches something new or rare. Proudly shows them off. Thinks Blathers talks too much, though he doesn’t have the heart to decline his offer about sharing information. Hates all the bugs, especially the ones that fly. Can never catch them. Secretly an expert on hybrid flowers and finding all the fruits. Is always willing to share them with his friends, especially Nat. No one knows what his native fruit is because he has plenty of each. Will take that secret to the grave if his kids don’t say it first.
Bruce likes requesting songs from K.K. Slider. He loves watching the credits roll by and the music play, finding it really relaxing. Turns into an absolute nerd when he digs up fossils. Tells everyone about them, showing off his collection. Blathers is his best friend. The two have a lot in common and even though Bruce knows all the facts, he still listens anyways. Sometimes Tony will go in and make his characters skin green/pants purple. Bruce thinks it’s funny though, and Hulk never seems to mind. Sometimes he even keeps it, only changing it so Tony can go in and change it back. Especially loves when Leif visits. Not only does he love the pumpkin starts and holly bushes, but collecting the weeds is quite calming, and he can make a profit. Finds a lot of the mundane tasks enjoyable.
Thor got peaches. He loves time traveling to his birthday and celebrating that. Wishes they could have the party all day long. Get’s really excited when he gets gifts and packages from “Mom”, too. Puts all of her gifts on display, as if they were his own mothers. Of course the rain and thunderstorms are his favorite kind of weather Absolutely hates when residents want to move off his island. Though he doesn’t want them to go, he knows it’s not right to keep them at a place they don’t want to be. Visits them before they move away, and probably would never forgive himself if he didn’t. Gets emotionally attached to each and every one of them, taking as many pictures with them as possible. Named his island Asgard 100%. Talks back to the game even though he’s reminded daily that they can’t hear him. Enjoys getting reactions as well. His favorites are the happy ones. Happiest of all when his teammates visit him by surprise.

Our own little island
Thank you for all the feedback from my last fic :3 I really don’t have any explanation for this other than....yeah...Spencer during lockdown haha.
Summary: Spencer and Y/N Have been living in their own private bubble during lockdown. YN has discovered a game and initially Spencer shows no interest...
There wasn’t much to say about the last few months other than they had been… weird. Weird on a global scale. You almost couldn’t believe how quickly everything went from normal to complete lockdown and watching the news every night had set you into complete panic mode. Both you and your highly germ-phobic boyfriend were more than happy to comply with the necessary restrictions. Spencer’s rational and calm mindset kept you both prepared and he did everything possible to reduce your anxiety. You would be forever grateful to have him by your side at such a horrible time.
For you the hardest adjustment was not seeing your work friends every day. It was odd to not spend every waking moment surrounded by all the people you loved the most. You didn’t realise just how much you would miss them despite seeing them all the time anyway. Friday night became the highlight. Your team, set up by Garcia, started a weekly quiz whereby everyone joined a Zoom call and one member was chosen to deliver a set of questions. Granted, it took Rossi a few failed attempts to be both seen and heard on camera, but you had all got it working in the end. Garcia’s quiz was based on cute, fluffy cartoon characters, Rossi delivered a mastermind style quiz all about the ratpack, Hotch surprised everyone with an in depth quiz about the employees of the FBI (where you realised he knew way more about personal lives of his colleagues) and you did pop culture through the ages. You had warned Spencer that ‘the history of the atom’ wasn’t in keeping with the Friday night spirit, and despite being met by many groans, he ended up presenting a fun and engaging quiz where losers had to take a shot for every question wrong. No surprise that he was the only one still standing by the end.
The truth was that despite all the chaos and uncertainty, you realised that you were lucky to have so much time spent with the man you loved. Sure, you worked together, but that was as professional as you both could manage. Stolen kisses at the back of the jet and shoulder squeezes were as close as you could get whilst working. But at home, you both had free reign of each other. You were both night owls, sleeping through most of the sunshine. You spent your evenings playing chess, re-watching old horror movies and having a lot of sex. You were sure that you were keeping your local Thai restaurant in business, living mainly off that and tubs of ice cream. It was almost therapeutic spending your time lounging around in your comfortable clothes. Hours would pass while you both sat reading in silence (you, a few chapters, Spencer, a novel or three…), his arm slowly brushing the inside of your leg as you read. On the more anxious nights, Spencer would do absolutely anything to calm you down, making sure you were okay. He’d perform Shakespeare, teach you how to cheat cards, read to you in different languages and even let you braid the ends of his hair.
You were very sure you were going to marry Spencer Reid.
There was one of your hobbies that he didn’t quite understand. In the first few weeks at home, you had invested in a Nintendo Switch, mainly from the push of Garcia but you had been eyeing it up since it first came out. You spent many nights on animal crossing visiting Garcia and her magic candy land island. It was one way to experience the outside world without actually being there. There was something wholly therapeutic about going fishing, planting flowers and giving gifts to your wonderful animal villagers.
Spencer, of course, didn’t really understand the appeal. Despite having the most wonderful brain you’d ever met, he seemed to have a block when it came to technology. He never discouraged you playing, but always looked over your shoulder with a furrowed brow whenever he saw you.
“See that, y/n, there’s no way all those fossils would be in such close proximity to one another in such a small area.” He commented on more than one occasion. “What use is archaeology when they are just there on the ground for you to see?”
“Spence, it’s a fictional world, I really don’t think they took into account geographical locations of fossils…” you couldn’t help but laugh whenever you spoke about it.
“Don’t even get me started on the physical anatomy of these animals! How disproportioned they are from the real thing! And the colours, y/n! Have you ever met a purple tiger before?”
You knew that he meant no harm from his remarks and was probably getting enjoyment out of it. So you’d shrug, offer him a turn and wait for some comment about how he was going to read an FBI report from 1987 again, and open your switch back up once he was distracted.
One night, you had stayed up late to make wishes on your island. You really needed the star fragments to craft your new DIY recipes and had spent hours posed in position, ready to make a wish. You hadn’t realised that you were falling asleep and your switch was falling out of your hand, until…
“YES! YES! Take that you stupid arachnid!” you heard a shout.
Waking up and looking to your left, you blinked in amazement to see Spencer sat with your switch gripped between his fingers.
“Spence? What are you doing? Are you okay?!” Many sleepless nights and bad dreams had left you very susceptible to fear when you heard shouting.
He looked over to you and his cheeks flushed. “Oh, y/n, honey I didn’t mean to wake you I’m sorry! It’s just you fell asleep with your game in your hand, I went to turn it off and ended up talking about the stars with this wonderful little owl… She just tells you all these facts. And they are accurate, too! I even wished upon a star.”
“That’s Celeste.” You commented, and yawned. “Spence, what time is it?”
He squinted at the screen before replying, “4am.”
You laughed. “And how long have you been playing animal crossing?”
His focus went back to the screen but he carried on talking to you. “Oh, a few hours now! I’ve just caught a tarantula, the stupid son of a bitch bit me before! Did you know they could bite you in the game? I was just running around trying to get my bearings and it ran up behind me and bit me. But I showed it who’s boss. And hey! It turns out I was wrong about the fossils, in a sense..”
You raised one eyebrow, “Dr Reid, wrong?”
“Well, not wrong exactly. It’s still highly unlikely that they would be so close together, so close to houses, and be found in just one dig. But I took one to the museum after I dug it up and was really surprised. I hadn’t realised how accurate the information provided was about these fossils! And the details in the display, too! You’ve got yourself rather an impressive collection, y/n.”
“Mhmm.” Tiredness was setting in but listening to Spencer talk about your game was more than entertaining. You sat up slowly, leaned across and rested your head on his shoulder. “What else have you been up to?”
“Well I recalculated the position of some of your flowers to maximise chances of getting hybrids. I know purple is your favourite colour so I looked into the best way to get purple flowers!” Spencer was speaking in that quick, animated tone that told you he was really into something. “I even researched the quickest and most beneficial ways of befriending your villagers to maximise the gifts that they give you. I spent a lot of time talking to the Raymond character.”
“Raymond reminds me of you, y’know. Dapper, sophisticated, looks great in glasses…” you replied, nudging his shoulder with your forehead. “How did you find out all of this?”
“Well, I read the whole Nookipedia website and that gave me a pretty good idea.” He turned to you and grinned. Of course, the genius had become the master of your favourite game in a matter of hours. You can test me on any of the villagers’ names and personality types.”
You looked down and saw piles of notepaper, all scribbled on, splayed out across the bed. You picked one up entitled ‘terraforming.’ Instead of trying to decipher Spencer’s handwriting, you decided to ask him about it. “Spence… what’s all this paper? What are these drawings?” You tilted your head and the paper simultaneously to try and get a better understanding of his scribbles.
“Oh! I’ve been looking into reshaping your island. I came up with a few designs I thought you might like. My personal favourite is the honeybee, cos I know they are your favourite, so I calculated how we can use the terraforming tool to turn your island into a bee. Garcia would be so jealous and…” he trailed off.
“What’s the matter?”
He looked back at you with big puppy dog eyes. He chewed on his bottom lip a little before he spoke. “I’ve gone too far, haven’t I? This was your game, your private space, I never meant to take over. You really have done a great job…”
All you could do was laugh. You leaned over and planted a reassuring kiss on his cheek. “Honestly? I’m really happy that you’re into this now. It means I can talk to you about it. Just you wait until you see Garcia’s island!”
“Really, you’re not mad at me?”
“It would be impossible to be mad at you, Spence. Maybe we’ll set up your own character now.”
And with that, you kissed him again, nuzzling into the comfort of his arm. “Show me what else you’ve been doing…”

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Declassified Island Survival Guide From a Seasoned AC Veteran
A friend of mine recently bought ACNH and was very confused as this was her first foray into AC, so I made this info dump guide. I thought somebody else in the world might be able to benefit from it as well. Hope you enjoy! Happy Animal Crossing-ing!
Daily Tasks:
Talk to your islanders. talking to them, completing favors, and giving them gifts will increase your friendship level. Don’t forget to check up on villagers that are inside their houses! They might be crafting a DIY and they will give you the recipe if you talk to them!
Shopping. Everyday the items in the shops will change, this include the items on the nook store, accessible through the Nook Kiosk in town hall/the tent in the plaza
Log on to the Nook Kiosk every day for free nook miles!!!
Walk your beaches. You’ll find shells, and a message in a bottle with a DIY will spawn every day.
Watering flowers. Watering your flowers will lead to hybrids growing. this is how you get colors of flowers such as purple and orange, etc. If it rains, you don’t have to water the flowers, but if you do, then you have a higher chance of hybrids growing.
Money Rock. Every day there will be a money rock. hit it with your ax or shovel (I use the shovel) for cash. Don’t forget to dig a barricade behind yourself to keep you from sliding so you can get all 8 hits in.
Money tree. Every day there will be a glowing fissure on the ground. Dig it up and you’ll find bells. HOWEVER DO NOT FILL THE HOLE. Instead, bury bells there. This will result in a nursery money tree growing. Trees take 4 days to grow. IMPORTANT AND I DIDN’T KNOW THIS AT FIRST money trees will only grow money once, so after you’ve collected the bells, it’s just a regular tree. I personally have four money trees with one being used and then replaced every day for an endless loop. However many bells you bury is how much money will grow X3, however keep in mind that sometimes it will only grow bags of 10,000 bells, despite planting more than that. To be safe, never go above 50,000 bells, as the likelihood of not getting back what you buried seems to increase after that, but do whatever you’re comfortable with.
Fossils. Everyday you will see star-shaped markings on the ground throughout your island. Those markings indicate that a fossil is buried in that spot. Dig it up! Then, (once he is unlocked on your island which shouldn’t be too far off) take your fossils to Blathers at the museum to get them assessed. He will tell you what the fossil is. From there they can be donated to the museum if it doesn’t have that fossil yet, or if you already have it you can place it on your island or you can sell it. ALWAYS GET YOUR FOSSILS ASSESSED BEFORE SELLING THEM. An unidentified fossil is only worth a few hundred bells, where an identified fossil is worth a varying couple thousand depending on what it is. There will be 4, sometimes 5, fossils to find on your island everyday.
Catch bugs and fish! bugs and fish spawn throughout your island everyday all day. Different bugs and fish have different conditions for spawning. Some spawn all day in any weather, some only can appear at night, others only during the day. Certain fish only are catchable in the rain. Also most bugs and fish are seasonal, with new bugs and fish being able to be caught every month. Donate your fish and bugs to Blathers to fill up your museum, and sell the rest! It’s one of the main ways to make money.
Dive for scallops! Go swimming and dive for sea critters. If you catch a scallop and you have space in you pockets, Pascal the otter will spawn and ask you for it. In return he will give you either a pearl or a special DIY recipe. He will spawn once a day. Also the critters you catch can be donated to the museum and also sold.
Not daily tasks:
* Potential weekly visitors include Leif, Kicks, Sahara, Flick, C.J., Gulliver, Gulllivar, Label, and Redd. Characters that can be found on the Plaza are Leif, Kicks, and Label. Leif is a sloth who will sell you plants, Kicks is a skunk who will sell you bags and shoes, and Label is a hedgehog who will ask you for fashion help. Characters that can be found wandering around your island are Sahara, Flick, and C.J. Sahara is a camel who will sell floorings, wallpapers, and rugs, Flick is a chameleon who you can sell bugs to, and C.J. is a beaver you can sell fish to. Both Flick and C.J. will buy their respective creatures for a higher price than the Nooklings will so it may be a good idea to save your bugs and fish for when they visit to make bank XD. Another character that you will initially find wandering around your island is Redd. Redd is fox who you will unlock later after you have donated enough stuff to your museum. Once you have, you will see him wandering around your island. Talk to him, and then the next day his boat will appear at your secret beach which is the tiny stretch of beach off by itself. Redd will sell you art work which can be donated to your museum. BE CAREFUL Redd will sell fake artwork!!! You can only donate real artwork, so choose wisely, as one player can only purchase one piece of art per Redd visit. Other players can purchase one piece of art from him too though. Gulliver and Gullivar are seagulls you will find washed up on your beach. Talk to them or hit them with a net until they wake up (just keep at it!) Talk to them and they will explain what you need to do for them. If you complete the task, you can expect a letter and a gift from them in the mail the following day. You will get one of these visiting characters everyday save for when K.K. Slider is in town. They are random, but characters that did not make an appearance one week are more likely to show up the next.
if you’re early enough in the game that the clothing store is still a visiting event, One day you’ll walk into the Nooklings and see a Hedgehog. After that, the hedgehog will be selling clothes in the plaza on random days. After I think 3 visits she will ask you about setting up a permanent shop. After that, this is store you can buy clothes from, clothes change every day so check often!
General tips:
Don’t sprint near water if you are looking for fish. Sprinting will scare the fish away.
Just regular running and walking will scare away bugs that spawn on trees, stumps, and flowers, so proceed with caution when hunting for bugs. When holding a bug net, hold down A while you walk to creep towards bugs without scaring them away. Release A to swing your net. Bugs like butterflies, dragonflies, and bugs that spawn on the ground will not disappear when scared, they will just try to get away.
Fishing tip if you find yourself struggling: it’s easy to get trigger happy when fishing. Something I do to make it easier is closing my eyes and relying on the rumble of the joy con and the sound of the of the bite. You register sound better than you do visual cues. This is how I catch all fish cause I get to nervous and anticipate bites.
If a villager has a thought bubble above their head, TALK TO THEM! They have something important to say! They either are thinking about moving (which you can encourage or tell them to stay) or want to give you something.
The same goes for if a villager runs towards you calling your name to get your attention. They either have a reaction to teach you, or a gift!
Don’t be upset with your island layout. Eventually you will unlock terraforming which will allow you to destroy and create rivers, cliffs, and pathways anywhere you want. The only thing you cannot change is the plaza, and the mouths of your rivers. You can also build inclines and bridges, and move the museum, shops, campsite, and houses, at any time so long as you have the bells. You can only build one bridge or incline a day though, and the same goes for moving buildings.
Eating fruit will give you strength. With that strength, you can destroy rocks by hitting them with your shovel or ax (they will respawn in a different location the next day) and pick up entire trees with your shovel.
a stone axe will allow you to hit a tree indefinitely, but just an iron Axe will cut down the tree in 3 hits, so don’t farm for wood with the iron Axe! also you can remove stumps with your shovel
when filling a hole, press Y to use your foot to cover the hole instead of using your shovel. This will increase the longevity of your shovel.
BE CAREFUL WHEN SHAKING TREES!!! There is a chance of a wasp nest falling! If that happens, wasps will chase you and try to sting you. You can catch the wasps with a bug net, or you can run into a building to get them to stop chasing you. If they sting you, use some medicine to heal yourself. If you get stung a second time before using medicine, you will pass out and wake up in front of your house.
IF YOU ARE GOING TREE SHAKING have the net equipped and shake the tree from the front. If a wasp nest falls, it will fall to either side of you (or right on top of you but it doesn’t matter.) Your character will turn to face the wasps. Immediately after your shocked animation, swing your net to catch the wasps.
2 items will spawn in 2 random, non-fruit-baring trees on your island everyday. Shake trees (with a net equipped in case of wasps!) and there’s a chance an item leaf will drift down.
On mystery islands there will be 1 item in a non-fruit-baring tree. Same tactics suggested as seen above
Don’t be afraid of spiders and scorpions. They will only try to bite/sting you if you are holding a bug net, otherwise they will ignore you. You should try to catch them if you are comfortable doing so though, as you can donate them to the museum and you can sell them (they are expensive! more so if you sell them to Flick!) Just creep up to them slowly and you’ll catch them just fine.
Depending on the season, there will be some special materials floating around your island that you can catch with your bug net. This include snowflakes in the winter and cherry tree petals in the spring. I assume there might be some falling leaves in autumn, but I haven’t experienced autumn in the game yet so I can’t say for sure.
To raise your island’s star level, there are two major things to do. One, put flowers freaking everywhere. Two, put furniture FREAKING EVERYWHERE. your beaches, your plains, your mountains, DECORATE EVERYWHERE!!!!
Every sunday before noon, there will be a little piglet girl walking around your island. She is selling turnips. This is the way to MAKE BANK in Animal Crossing. the turnips are meant to be sold in The Stalk Market (get it?). Everyday (save for sunday) you will be able to sell your turnips to the Nooklings. The price of the turnips changes twice a day every day, the change occurs at noon. the idea is to buy turnips low and sell turnips high. the buying price of turnips will range from around 90 to 110 bells every week. The selling price will range from like 30 bells to like 700 something. Obviously, the higher the better. IMPORTANT! Turnips go bad after one week, upon which they are worthless. Make sure to sell your turnips before the next sunday!! However I would allow one stack of turnips to go bad once as this is how you catch ants. Drop the rotten turnips outside and ants will spawn on it. The same goes for catching flies, just drop some trash outside. BUT DON’T LEAVE THE TRASH FOREVER it will lower the star rating of your island.
Never sell things to the Nooklings via the drop box unless you have to. Selling via drop box comes with a like 15% reduction on the sell price, so you won’t get as many bells as you would if you sell to the Nooks by talking to them.
Day resets at 5 AM, not midnight, so don’t panic if you need to complete something by the end of the day and it’s almost 12.
Your villagers will teach you reactions. Aside from the 4 defaults you start with, The reactions you can learn are divided up amongst the villager types. For example, from a Normal type villager, you can learn Pleased, Fearful, Sadness, and Glee. Additionally, a villager will teach you one extra reaction if you max out your friendship level with them. If you’re best friends with a Normal type villager, they will teach you Daydreaming. So if you wanna unlock all 44 reactions, it’s important to get villagers of all different types and befriend them!
Dropping items of any kind will lower the star rating of your island if there are too many things on the ground. This includes turnips unfortunately -_-
Giving villagers gifts increase your relationship with them. But, if you wrap the gift before giving it to them, your relationship will increase by an additional point. Color of the paper doesn’t matter as far as I can tell.
Villagers have preferred styles and colors of clothing. You can give them whatever you want, but they will particularly enjoy items that match their preferred style and colors. Villagers also really appreciate gifts on their birthday! You will be notified via the notification board in the plaza about a week in advance of a villagers birthday
See a yellow bird (daytime) or an owl (nighttime) sitting on top of your notification board in the plaza? That means there’s a new post on the board! Go read it!
Holidays occur in animal crossing too! Holidays like Halloween, Christmas, Easter, New Years, and many others have Animal Crossing equivalents. Special events and items can be experienced and obtained on these days, so make sure to check in! You should also check in on YOUR birthday ;)
All in all, Animal Crossing is what you want it to be. This is just one way of playing. You can focus on whatever you wanna focus on, and do whatever you want to do. I just went crazy covering all the bases. I’m here if you have more questions. I hope you have loads of fun!
If you’re interested in keeping track of all the stuff you have, there is a free app called ACNH Guide. It can help you keep track of what bugs and fish and fossils you have and also what bugs and fish are currently available and where to find them. You can also log items and DIYs and music and what villagers you have and mark off the rocks you’ve hit, the money tree you have planted, and the bottled message. It can also help you keep track of what days the visiting characters come. It also has a built in turnip predictor which can help you make the most money that you can! And they are adding to the app all the time. I really recommend it if you want to keep track of all the craziness.
