💜🎶💃🏾🕺🏾#ArtIsAWeapon #DancingIsFreedom LOVE THIS! 📽 reposted from @ballroombasix; 📰@abc7ny: Bronx students learn #kindness through ballroom dancing. -- Young kids at a school in the Bronx are learning to be #kind and #courteous while working with a partner to learn #ballroomdancing. Ballroom Basix is a #nonprofit #danceprogram that works with NYC schools and gives kids #etiquette instruction. Kids at the #ICAHNCharterSchool have been learning #manners, how to shake hands, "please and thank you," plus #respect for oneself and others. There was a big dance party Wednesday to show off the 3rd and 4th graders' skills. The kids' self-confidence soared and they had a great time. They have learned #tango, #merengue, #salsa and other #dances. Ballroom Basix is run by #SidneyGrant, who goes by Dr. Dance. He started the program in one school in #Harlem 11 years ago and since then has expanded to 80 schools. Students learn to interact, make eye contact, introduce themselves and the more they use their manners outside the classroom, the more they gain self-confidence. Learning how to dance can bring a sense of accomplishment, joy, and confidence. Salsa and bachata are two of the most popular Latin dances that are perfect for enhancing your confidence. Both styles are fun and exciting, and they offer a great way to express yourself and boost your self-esteem.
Salsa and bachata are both very social dances. When you learn the moves, you’ll be able to go out and dance with others in clubs and social events. This is my final piece titled “Keep or Let Go?”
For me finishing this piece was quite the struggle. As I said in a previous post, the last in class work day was the day that I found out Justice had died so I hit a bit of a road block.
Unfortunately almost every time I ran this piece my times were different. Some runs I could do perfectly fine and during others I would just break down and begin to cry which lead to me slow down or rush a lot. I feel that had I been more emotionally stable today this piece could have been cleaner and more clear but that was not the case. I am still happy with and proud of this work I created despite these things though.
Some feed back that I received on this piece was...
The heart beat section was impactful because of the commitment to the small chest movement - Taylor
The floor rolling section was nice. It created a nice change in level and timing of the piece. - Prof. Bain
My use of different levels was effective and visually appealing. - Makalah
The heart beats kept people present enough to keep watching but ready for what was to happen next. - Madi
Repetition of certain movements throughout the piece made it feel connected as a whole. - Madi
In this piece I was successful in using my whole body rather than focusing on a single shape or focus point. - Prof. Bain
Some questions that I had and their responses were...
Was the repetition of the heart beat too much or too long?
The number of repeats was good. Had there been more the effect would have been lost.
Prof. Bain also said she believed the number was fine but wished that the last one would have had a little more thrust and power behind it to push the next movement.
Was the keep or let go hand gesture effective? Were there too many repeats of this?
Everyone said that this was really effective. Some said it made them feel like I was really running to try to grab or save something.
Prof. Bain agreed with this as well but also brought up the point of my facing. During the whole piece I chose to specifically work on the upstage right to downstage left diagonal with some other pathways as well. As soon as I switched to the other diagonal it took away slightly because the 1st diagonal was so important.
I never thought of this until I was actually performing it. As soon as I took that first step on the opposite step I knew i should not have, I just wasn’t thinking through completely.
Overall I think my final piece was a big success. I feel that again, had I been a little more stable this would have gone better and felt better in my body. Although, I do believe that it’s also a blessing that it wasn’t. Because I am struggling with something I think that my ability to use those emotions to help fuel my dance are helpful. Yes my dance may have been cleaner had I not been upset but I feel that with the meaning behind my dance the fact that I’m in a hardship made it more real.
Throughout this semester I have grown a lot in who I am beginning to be as a choreographer and dancer. I feel very set with the basic foundations of choreography and I am excited to see where these composition classes take me in the future. I a excited to see how I begin to find my way/my style.

Baby Dance Is Expressing Emotion With Your Body Parts
Tumblr media
Yes, Baby Dance Is Expressing Emotion With Your Body Parts. You Can Express Your Emotion Vocally, Verbally, Facially And With Your Body Parts, Expressing Emotion With Your Body Parts Called As Dance.
Tumblr media
I Hope Now You Understood What Actually Dance Is. But There Are Different Types Of Dancing Movements Right. Let Me Explain You Clearly By Giving Similar Example. Think That I Gave A Sentence To You And Your Friend And Asked You Both To Express It Vocally In Your Own Way.
Tumblr media
You Expressed The Sentence In Your Way And Your Friend Expressed The Sentence In His Own Way. Here I Got Two Ways Of Expression.   Which Means Your Own Way Of Expressing Sentence Is Different From Your Friend Way Of Expression. Similarly, If I Give A Emotion To You Both And I Asked You Both To Express It Using Your Body Parts. Your Way Of Expressing The Emotion With Your Body Parts Is Different From The Way Of Expression With The Body Parts Of Your Friend.
Tumblr media
So, Each Person On This Planet Expresses His Emotion In His Own Way. Dance Is Also One Of The Ways Of Expression. With Which Each Person Expresses His Emotion Using His Body Parts.
Tumblr media
One Person's Dance Will Not Match With The Dance Of Other Person. Dont Expect Somebody To Dance Like You.
Tumblr media
Dont Expect Somebody To Express The Emotion With The Body Parts Like, Which Is Not Possible. Because Each Person Have His Own Way Of Expressing His Emotion Using His Own Body Parts.
Tumblr media
So, One Person's Dance Will Not Match With Other Person's Dance. You Are Dancing For The Sound. Each Sound Creates A Emotion.
Tumblr media
Different Sounds Creates Different Emotions. Different Songs Creates Different Emotion.
Tumblr media
Sound=Song Sound Creates Emotion And Sound Is Called As Song And To Express Your Emotion On That Sound You Will Use Your Body Parts To Express It In Your Own Way, That Is Called As Your Own Way Of Expressing Your Emotion Or Your Own Style Of Dancing.
Tumblr media
I Hope Now You Understood The Sound, Song, And Dance. If You Love This Explanation, Kindly Share This Post With Your Loved One's Who Loves Dance, Who Wants To Express Their Emotion Using Body Parts.
