DC x DP idea #1

I had an idea after reading this post (so it's inspired by it) and then I couldn't forget about it so here I am.

What if Danny is a clone of Clark and Lex Luthor like Kon only in the one who was cloned is Clark and not Superman.

Okay hear me out, I can't help but laugh at the idea of ​​how Lutor and Clark would react to the news that they were cloned (and here I borrow the idea of ​​sending untraceable messages, because it is brilliant and perfect for many funny situations and angest) and their clone who is a completely "regular" person without any powers or bad intentions.

Especially Clark's reactions, I imagine that he looks from Kon to Danny with a breakdown, because both are his children with Lutor despite the fact that to the world Kon is a clone of Lutor and Superman and Danny - of Lutor and Clark. Additionally, Lois' reaction to this would be hilarious.

However, Kon's reaction would be the most interesting because imagine that for him Danny is his brother (they have the same "parents"), I can imagine that he would be happy and nervous because he can't decide whether he wants to find him or prefers him to stay away from their parents. Although I am convinced that when they meet Danny will have no qualms and will immediately start calling him his younger brother.

Mooom stop, You're Embarassing Meee

The Justice League and Young Justice were too late, the summoning had been completed and whatever creature the cult had chosen to wreck havoc on earth was coming out of an ominous green portal.

The head popped out. It looked as if a piece of space was trying to imitate a human head but the constant movement made it appear as if it was burning and flowing underwater at the same time. A halo made up of floating pieces of ice gathered behind its head, glowing and rearranging itself to look like a wheel with never ending details. To top it all off a sharp crown the deepest black anyone has seen sat ontop of its head, embedded with five beautiful blue jewels. However, the longer anyone stared at them the more the jewels started to look like eyes.

The head turned towards the cult members, freezing them in a blink of an eye, the attack too fast for them to comprehend. It then set its sights on them, scanning the heroes before a giant hand?...Claw?... Some weird mixture of both reached out towards them with insane speed.

"SUPERBOY!"

Someone shouted but it was too late, the creature already had him in its grasp and bring him up to its face and–...actually, it doesn't seem to be harming him at all, much to everyone's confusion. Furthermore it is as if it was...lovingly nuzzling him?

Superboy looked red in the face and rather embarassed?

"Mommm, stop, you're embarassing me infront of my team."

"MOM?!"

DP x DC Prompt #11

When Danny heard Superman had a clone, he wasn’t that surprised. He had a clone, too, after all.

He was surprised, however, when Lex Luthor himself approached him. Asking him to bring Superman some paperwork.

Intrigued, Danny asked him what it was. Child support payments wasn’t the answer Danny was expecting.

It takes a week of getting the kids semi settled and the first wave of public outrage caused from Lois's articles to taper off. Danny and Ellie are still not a 100% sure of Clark but they can tell he's good natured if a little too in love with Lois. (Ellie argues that he's married her which means he's allowed but Danny still thinks its a bit much.)

End of the first week is when things take an interesting turn.

Ellie, struck by one of her sleepless nights had decided to float around the apartment invisibly. She froze when she saw the balcony open. And then she got confused because that was Clark and Lois, except Lois was unconscious? asleep? and Clark was carrying her bridal style.

Except.

Clark.

Clark was floating.

What.

Wait.

Why did that red cape look familiar?

Holy shit were Lois, Clark, and Superman in a polyamorous relationship? But that didn't explain why Clark was flying/floating!?

She needed Danny's experience.

So Ellie flues through the walls until she finds Danny sprawled on the bed, clutching a pillow tightly.

Once Danny's awake and processed what Ellie mentioned, he's just as confused. They're whisper arguing the logistics and possibilities when there's a knock on the door.

"Hey kids?" Clark calls out through the door. "I could explain stuff if you like? I'll make some hot cocoa if you're interested in listening. If not that's fine. Just remember not to stay up too late tonight."

Danny and Ellie looked at each other before going to hear what Clark had to say. (Danny was confident he could turn them both intangible and invisible in order to escape into the sewers until they could find someplace to hide if needed. Even Superman couldn't track what he couldn't hear or see.)

Clark sets two mugs filled with hot chocolate and a handful of marshmallows. The drinks are done by the time he's explained his side and Danny's willingly opened up a little more about his own stuff.

The day after this, Clark comes home with another teenager following him.

"Hey Lois? Kids?" He called out. "Turns out cloning is a thing for supervillains."

Lois takes one look at the kid trailing behind Clark and sighs. "Honey. We need a bigger apartment with so many kids."

Lois lane was not expecting her next big story to come literally knocking at her door. In the form of a two teens? Preteens?

Both black hair blue eyes, she’d have to keep them away from Bruce.

The older of the two look like he’d taken A beating, the younger of the two hyper focused on the hallway looking back and forth as if expecting someone to jump out at them.

If she can willingly jump of a roof, she most certainly could get two teens inside. They had too much to discuss.

No. A folder of info just won’t do. Come on in. Tell me everything. Secret government agency? Go on please. Just make yourselves comfortable. Portal to the afterlife?? Please more info. Need anything to eat?

She got her answers, a story, and well if two kept hanging around. That was for her to worry about.

Danny plays superman

Danny is in metropolis for school and Superman is off planet or in another dimension with the justice league

Danny is sleep deprived and studying for exams so when some super villain asshole interrupts his daily routine he puts them down swiftly only to flee the scene thinking he’ll be found out.

Instead, as he gets to his dorm ready to flee the city one of his dorm mates stops him to show him a funny post about superman stopping a giant robot on laundry day.

What he sees is a blurry, indistinct photo of him destroying the robot.

Danny decided he can work with this.

He was tired of villains fucking around with his day just because superman was out of town for a bit and gets one of the ghosts to help him make a perfect replica of the suit.

He’s bulked up over the years and learned to control his transformation so now all he has to do is transform everything but his hair and eyes and just refuse interviews for a bit

Easy peasy!….until he meets his, we’ll Superman’s, clone.

Superboy confronts the counterfeit kryptonian about him slacking on his duties only to immediately realize this isn’t Superman.

This dudes chill though so Conner decides to just go with it

He doesn’t mind being Danny’s second clone

Lex is confounded by Superman’s sudden immunity to kryptonite

When Superman gets back no one says shit. Why would they? It’s been a completely normal month in metropolis. Though with less property damage.

Conner already explained things to Lois so she doesn’t say anything. She wants to see how long they can keep it up.

2 years pass before clark finds out.

"Mom, Dad's Evil Again!"

Dan and Elle end up in the DC universe. They do not realize they are stranded for a while. When they do realize they go looking for ecto rich areas. 

They first go to the LOA but when they realize its corrupted and covered in assassins they leave.

They then try Gotham but they see the Territorial limanals and leave. 

They eventually find Lex's Kryptonite vault and try to steal it. They are caught but Lex is Vlad's counterpart so they do not immediately flee.

Dan is living with a redeemed Vlad so they don't really see him as a threat. 

Lex first believes they are clones that are hidden from him until he realizes where exactly he caught them.  Ellie pulls the dad card on Vlad all the time to get out of trouble so that's exactly what she does to Lex. He's very confused about that until Dan and Ellie start yelling at each other about whose fault it is they're stuck in this dimension.

-jl believing that lex and a fem clark sleep together enough to have 2 kids due to Dan and Ellie

You Know How There Are Those AU? Where SUPER Injured Ghosts Need To Retreat To Their Core?

No one seems to be USING that to its fullest potential! For SHENANIGANS! Because! Who?? Could POSSIBLY carry a Halfa's Core safely... but another Halfa?! A FULL ghost would KILL them. A human would be killed! What terribly precarious peril we find ourselves in! Oh nooooooo!

As much as Dani fuckin HATES this. That there is her brother. Her Template. Her Clone Daddy and Bestest of Bros. Like HECK she's gonna let him suffer for centuries and possibly DIE. She can take it, Doc! Pop him in! We'll go road tripping and-

Instead of feeding off her Ecto System like injured ghosts are supposed too, because she's a CLONE? AND an unstable one at that? His Core would just... see her body as free ectoplasm. All of it.

He'd eat her.

Which mean Frostbite can not and WILL NOT allow that.

But he's HURT! That big, off screen, cataclysmic Fight To Save Everybody From *cough cough mumbles* and settle us all in the DC universe, REALLY messed him up! What are we supposed to DO!? He can't STAY like this!!!

It makes front page news. Luthor choked on his eggs. The paparazzi lost their SHIT. Vlad is doing the FULL Celebrity Mom Thing. The classes. The photo shoots. The Gucci sunglasses as he peruses high end strollers. All while HEAVILY suggesting that not only is "The Baby" Lex's.... but that he's going to withhold the child and deny Lex any access.

Danny isn't even aware. He's in a lovely lil medical coma. Dani is trying to find a good spot to plop down Amity. She just know Vlad is being... Vlad. Meh. He can handle it. Dan? He's not even IN the human realm and is not sure he wants to be.

But over in the LEAGUE? Everything's on fuckin FIRE.

Kon is losing his SHIT and Clark is thousand yard staring into the void. Kon's half brother is in the hands of a... Less Then Ideal... Meta that Batman is PRETTY sure is highly suspect. Might be a deliberate weapons experiment. Certainly is a hostage. And the DRAMA.

Lex has never been worse.

He might actually stab his...partner? Vlad. At the hospital. The SECOND the child is born. There are already long term kidnapping plans in the making. He's hiring lawyers. Getting VICIOUS. There have been talks with DEATHSTROKE. By BOTH OF THEM.

Clark wants to cry.

Superman would definitely give YJ a stern talking too about kidnapping people without their guardian (Match is the closest thing really because he's physically the older one) around and just, kidnapping people in general especially when they're sick and couldn't really process what was happening.

In hindsight, it was a bad move on their part, even if it was because of good intentions.

Hey! At least they managed to find the cryptids though and Connor's siblings!

Connor... probably still doesn't know how exactly to feel about this? He was under the impression that he was the only Superman clone, so finding out there was more probably threw him off a bit.

Superman is also starring at Connor, very intensely which kind of off puts him too but he doesn't want to say anything either, and then stares back at the screen showing the two other clones before going back to him and repeat.

Superman is just... thinking, about all of this. He's been cloned three times, if not more and the reality of this is sinking in. How many times has he been cloned?

How many of them are still around, if Connor exists?

Don't get him wrong, he's not saying Connor shouldn't exist (even if he's having trouble accepting him) it's just. How many failed clones did they have to go through for Connor to be here? Because if he remembered correctly, Connor was their best attempt, Lex Luthor's best attempt.

How many clones did they had to go through before Connor?

He... It's not a nice thought to dwell about. Even if all of said clones were being made to kill or replace him still, it's. Very morbid, to put it lightly.

And then there was the possibility that, he was aware existed but didn't really think about. If Superman still refused to accept Connor then, along with the rest of the Young Justice and the League backed him up.

What would have happened to him?

Superman never really thought about it before, too busy being wrapping his head around the fact that he was cloned without his knowledge and said clone was made specifically to kill him. Connor could've been retaken by Cadmus, and things would probably repeat all over again or, in another circumstance, Connor would be used as intended.

A weapon against him.

And then there was the two clones he was just made aware of, heck, one of them fought and chomped him! The older clone was light, too light, much to light even and very clearly malnourished when he held onto him. Then there was his reaction to the sun, it was as worrying as it was baffling. It was clear that he already had enough sunlight to put up a fight and was getting stronger as it went on, but looking back on his reaction after being subdued was worrying, like he had too much after being deprived of something for so long.

Then watching the teen vomit just hammered in a bit more how bad their situation was. He didn't even know it was possible for a Kryptonian to vomit from too much sunlight and it was Metropolis! There was so much sunlight that they could have had a steady intake instead of- of- of this!

And then there was the smaller, oh so tiny clone of him. Quite literally a baby that, according to the YJ, they kidnapped because of his sickness to help treat. Watching them interact was both heartwarming and thought provoking. The child tried to comfort the older while the older held onto him as if he would disappear at any moment.

Not an unfounded fear, actually, because of recent events.

And the way he also tried to distract him from Superman like Superman was something to dangerous, something to cautious of, even in his feverish state.

If anything, it should've been the other way around, seeing as they were made to kill him and all. But now... Superman doesn't know what to think anymore. All of this was happening in Metropolis, his city, and they were obviously hiding from something and because of that they ended up both malnourished and lacking sunlight.

It was hard to see how something could kill you, when was coughing and sneezing and just trying to breath while trying to comfort his older brother who just vomited from too much sunlight earlier.

It was hard to see them as weapons, watching them be anything but in the moment.

Luthor, what did you do?

He needs to inform the League about this, if not for the two clones, then at least for the possibility of there to be more of them that could be running around and the implications of it.

Danny has been reincarnated.

Which was an odd thing to realize, it wasn't even a slow one he just... snapped into it one day. One moment he was staring at a wall out of boredom the next, well, he was staring for an entirely different reason.

It was a task for his now young -he thinks around three years old?- mind to work its way through the memories, but it wasn't like he had much else to do honestly. So, what does he know?

His name is Danny, like, his actual name and not just a moniker. He was once a halfa and he already knows he's going to be missing invisibility and intangibility. He, well, died. For like, a second time which actually makes sense because reincarnation-

Anyways.

He was a clone of two people from this thing called the Justice League which, weird name but probably some government or activist group. Wonder Woman and Superman. Which were pretty weird names to name your kids but eh.

He doesn't really remember much besides that from this life, or the one from before but he's an adult! He'll figure things out once he gets out of this containment tube thing.

Did he mention he was in a test tube? He's a tube baby now. He thinks? Or maybe it's more like he's being contained.

Whatever.

So he breaks out. Thank you apparent superstrength that he has no idea why he has but he's not going to complain! He then wandered around all of the other test tubes, able to remember just enough of English to see that yea, they're dead.

He probably was too, before he had memories zapped into him. Or a vegetable.

He then finds this really big container, checks it out, then opens it because the clone inside isn't dead!

'Project Match' it said. He'll just call him Match.

Was he thanked for helping him? Nope. You would think that he would be thanked or at least somewhat respected for saving this guy but nope!

He was, quite literally, held up by his leg and dangled in the air. Who dangles a three-year-old?! Well, he was technically and adult but still! The next few things were a blur but after pulling off the old Fenton charm he found him and Match outside as he tried to stop him from attacking random people.

Luckily the charms and privilege of the youngest (he's assuming he's the youngest, because he's physically three) was more than enough to get through to him. Sure, the guy couldn't form words, really aggressive for literally no reason, really weird but also absolutely cool looking eyes. But he worked around the first issue by developing their own personal language from like grunts and stuff, the second he once again used his youngest privilege to boss him around and the third a pair of sunglasses easily fixed.

He just had to steer Match clear of those random S crest mark thingies. Which was a weird thing to hate but hey, he's not there to judge.

Got a little brain worm on the way home and have a need to write it down. Just a drabble because I'm not good at writing.

DC x DP Just a (clone) couple

Joung Adult!Team Phantom for some reason end up in the DC universe. For reasons, there aren't any equivalents of them here. Danny and Sam are together and Danny and Dani have a familiar relationship. Whatever the reasons they stay in this universe.

So Sam, Danny and Dani start making a life together as a family, Tucker goes on to make a "small business" involving VPN's and tech in general (finds an anthropomorphic girlfriend on the way or something), Jazz goes to uni (JL members city of choice, although I advise against Gotham or Metropolis, because that would make this too short).

For some MORE reasons unknown, although they might be by the making of our favourite clock-man, the DP people's DNA has by default markings of being clones in DC (I don't know if this is canon or fanon but Connor had something like that ╮⁠(⁠＾⁠▽⁠＾⁠)⁠╭). The thing is here Jack = Bruce, Maddy = Alexander and Jeremy = Clark, Pamela = Lois! Do you see my vision here??

So *JL member from the perspective city* meets the Fenton/Manson/Nightingale?? family accidentally when they are visiting Jazz, and has a sweet deja vu moment. Some time passes and the off handedly mention it to someone in the JL.

Batman being the paranoid bastard that he is goes on to check this thing out, because he can smell the fish from a mile away. Thinks the couple are clones, gets very paranoid again and starts making plans, plans get found by his kids, kids tell the JL and friends. So starts the collective discussions of what should they do, some say that they should get rid of the clones, some others that they don't have proof for anything nefarious and shouldn't do anything at all, someone points out that they have literally showed up out of nowhere and that it is reasonable to be suspicious. And Connor is also there.

Meanwhile Team Phantom is going about their lives like normal, but with a "I know that you know" mindset, and don't really bother with hiding themselves.

In my opinion the part that has to be the most glaringly noticeable about them should be that Danny (Batman's clone apparently) should wear a lot of flannel and have a "Midwestern Nice" personality" (the stuff of legends I have only heard about in passing) and over all should resemble Clark in fashion sense. For Sam (Superman's clone apparently) the exact opposite - she can put the GOTH in Gotham.

And all JL angst/drama/confusion happens in the background as we follow Connor Kent's/Superboy's POV and him dealing with having two half siblings and the half siblings being together and them having a child and this is too much for him oooooooooo noooooooo nononoonononoonononononno what in the sweeet home Alabama whhhhhyyyyyyyy!??!

So it's like a metronome tick's between the POVs of fluffy new life/potential threat to the JL I mean the child of Bruce/Lex and child Clark/Luis having potential super-smart, super-powered (potentially evil??) children. But overall it's crack.

Maybe I'll plan it out and actually try to write it, but meanwhile you can enjoy my half-ill/fever induced brain worms and play in the brown dirt puddle I call my creative thinking.

My contributions

The reason Danny doesn’t have Kryptonian powers. Since it seems to be fanonically accepted that Kryptonite is solidified ectoplasm/ghost candy, I believe Danny’s Kryptonian growth would be stunted because of long term exposure to ectoplasm. This also makes him completely immune to Kryptonite.

Jazz is a clone too but of Lex Luthor. Either the Fentons screwed up somehow and Jazz came out a girl or Lex is trans and transitioned early. I wouldn’t put it past Lionel to have forced Lex to transition when he was baby because he wanted a male heir. (I like the idea because it means Jazz and Danny can still be siblings through Conner).

The Fentons picked Danny because he resembles Jack. This is due to Jack being of Kryptonian descent, how far back is to the writers discretion.

Jack and Maddie where sterilized in the accident that turned Vlad into a halfa, apparently diet soda mixed with ectoplasm is a dangerous combination. Don’t worry Tucker and Sam are fine though they are a single death away from becoming Halfas themselves.

Vlad does not know Danny is a clone of an alien. The main reason he had issues cloning Danny was because he treated Danny’s DNA like a humans instead of a Kryptonians. He only succeeded in making Ellie by adding human DNA (just like with Conner) whose DNA he used is up to the writers discretion.

Possibilities

Danny is made shortly after the Fentons get the DNA sample, meaning Clark was 19-20 when Danny got his powers

Danny is made later and is the same age as Robin, which one is up to the writers discretion.

Danny gets created as a clone of Superman by the mad doctors Fenton, they saw a young Clark Kent at an age of 5 and decided they wanted a son. He grows up with no idea or memories of this though, then he died, well half way but this unlocked memories of Superman when he was younger but when he sees Clark interacting with his ship and doesn’t understand what’s being said but strangely Danny does… He has to find Clark and figure out who and why he has these visions

I head-cannon ghost speak allows ghosts to understand every language but not speak it so yes Danny can understand Kriptonian but he wouldn’t be able to speak it back, if that makes sense

Why has no one followed up on Lex continuing cloning?

Lex decides to try another SuperWonder Clone.

He's a little annoyed it's a female but whatever Wonder Woman is respected and Supergirl is thing. A working Clone is a working Clone.

And it takes a while but the Clone does open her eyes.

And Dani/Elle is alive again. She less then happy about her "Creator" being another Fruit Loop. And escape is difficult because Lex would have better security after what happened previously.

So no matter what happens, it's pretty much agreed upon that the two need help. Along with the fact that they really can't just be left to wander, no matter how well they were doing.

(Bruce is having flashbacks to walking into Tim's stalker-shrine room when they look through the toddler's notebook) Because like, Match was pretty much live. A lot of people saw him, and a lot more will continue, so it's not even close to being safe. For all they knew? Cadmus might've thought they had died since they were already deemed failures. But now everyone in the knows not only is at least one alive, but nearly fought Superman to a standstill.

Probably could've if not for the fact that they're a half-starved teen- though the half-feral part probably helped with the can't predict what the Duck attack is going to be next.

Would the in-laws get along? Like the bats and the phantoms seem to get along but what about the supers? Cuz I don't see any of the fentons getting along with Clark. (I happen to think that Danny just glares at Clark every time he sees him.)

This lowkey became a rant, but I feel like I have to talk about it. People dog on Clark wayyyy too much about this.

A lot of the negative and almost abusive parts of their relationship was changed in the new comics (I think Rebirth 52 but idk for sure).

In the original comics, Clark was more like a neglectful father who had no idea what to do about Kon, BUT was willing to care for him when needed. In the original comics, Kon was also created after Clark's death by a company, so it wasn't like he was even there for Kon's "birth".

Also, how violating do you think Clark feels that his DNA is being stolen and experimented on? That he's one of the last of his kind and people are constantly trying to recreate him to use his powers against others? It's not surprising that Clark could be incredibly resentful about it. However, in the original comics, Clark was never a bad person.

In Rebirth (I think), they changed Kon's backstory to be one where Lex Luthor created Kon and that Clark hated him, naming him "Kon-el" for "abomination in the House of el". It's a tad strange due to the fact that Kon was SO happy when he first got his name, even crying and cheering, but while it doesn't make sense for the name meaning, it DOES make sense that Clark could have negative feelings for Kon (even if the writers have a very strange and nasty habit of making Clark dark and edgy for some goddamn reason).

So, in essence, no, I think they get along fine.

I feel like Danny would, in a way, understand why Clark feels like this. It's terrifying to imagine that someone has your DNA and is messing around with it. Clark has every right to feel the way he does, bc Kon isn't his kid. Danny is an example of someone who could love his clone, but he is LITERALLY a rarity bc this trope has been done a thousand times.

The only person I can see being mad at Clark is Dani, but only bc Dani is a clone as well and I feel like she could sympathize with Kon's feelings of being neglected and ignored. (Not to mention that I ship them together, so that could also be Dani being protective over her bf.) Jazz would probably understand both sides (but be more willing to protect Kon), while Dan dgaf and would kill himself without asking (cough cough Danny lmao) so his opinion doesn't count XD

You can look at this ask to kinda get how I'm feeling if you'd rather see it in a short story lmao.

Ellie showed up in the throne room one day and shoved Danny face first into a portal before he could even react. On the other side was Superman, next to a woman, a kid that looked like her, an assorted group of costumed teens and a sickly looking boy laying in a bed.

Superman stepped forward, worry written all over his face. "Can you cure him?" he asked.

Lois prides herself at being good at rolling with the unexpected. Unfortunately, all of her experience with aliens and supervillains and magic has not prepared her for Danny.

Danny has a disconcerting habit of dropping disturbing or traumatizing information in an off-hand way, seeming to not even realize the implications of his own words. It started with what he said about the dimension he'd grown up in discriminating against people with powers, then with what he'd said about the red son and the lack of superheroes, but it just keeps happening.

Lois tries not to call attention to it, because she prefers it to the alternative, which is Danny shutting himself up in his room and refusing to talk to any of them.

Lex Luthor is on the nightly news-- as he so often is-- and Lois has to explain the man's many crimes to Danny. (No, Jon, it is not a rant.)

"Oh," Danny says. "He sounds like Vlad."

"Vlad?" Lois asks.

"Yeah, Vlad Masters. He's my godfather. He's a total fruitloop who wanted to marry my mom and make me his son."

Lois carefully does not react. She wants Danny to tell her things. She wants to know what his life was like when she wasn't in it. "That sounds..."

"Yeah, he tried to clone me. Well, I guess he succeeded, but none of them were stable except for Ellie, and she wasn't really that stable to begin with."

"Ellie?"

"Yeah, short for Danielle. She went by Dani-with-an-I for a while, but she decided she wanted her own name."

That is not the part Lois was looking for clarification on. She goes with it anyway. "Tell me about her," Lois says, and tries not to be concerned about Danny’s descriptions of a teenage girl who apparently lives and travels on her own because she doesn't like to be stuck in one place. Ellie doesn't even get the full benefit of being quarter Kryptonian, living in a world with a red sun.

The four of them are sitting down to dinner-- pizza again; one of them should probably cook sometime this week, but Lois and Clark are both on deadlines-- when Clark asks Danny more about his adoptive family, the ones he grew up with.

He looks sad, the way he always does whenever his adoptive parents come up.   Lois can hardly blame him, when he lost them in such a sudden and traumatic way.  

"They're scientists," Danny says.  "Or they were.  They studied, um, the Ghost Zone and the things that live there.  They didn't really understand it at first-- they thought all the-- um, everything from there was evil and needed to be killed, but they learned they were wrong eventually."

Lois meets Clark's eyes and knows he is as concerned about what happened before that 'eventually' as she is.  Still, neither of them comment, not wanting Danny to clam up again..

Jon, however, has no such reservations.  "That's really messed up."

Danny shrugs.  "Yeah, kind of.  They came around, though.  And I think they blamed themselves for how bad the GIW got because they were the ones who designed the weapons."

"The GIW?" Lois asks, instead of what she really wants to know, which is: Your adoptive parents designed weapons to be used against beings from another dimension??? Did they know what you were? 

"Guys in White," Danny says.  "I don't think that was their real name, but they were from the government."

"Your parents built weapons for them?" Clark asks, his tone deceptively light.  "I thought they were scientists."

"They dabbled in a lot of things.  But they were fantastic engineers."  Danny segues into a story about some of the modifications his adoptive parents made to their car, which is a topic only slightly better for Lois's heart.

Later that night, Lois is sitting in bed, checking her emails on her phone, when Clark sits down next to her and turns on the white noise machine they keep on the nightstand.  (It's the only way to have private conversations when your child-- children-- have super-hearing.)

"I'm concerned about Danny," he says.

"No shit."  The more Danny tells them about the dimension he grew up in, the more Lois hates it.  "But there's nothing we can do now except be there for him."

"I know people who have traveled across dimensions, you know," Clark says.  "I could always ask for a favor."

"You won't," Lois says.  "Because if you do, I'm going to end up committing felonies in another dimension."  

Clark smiles humorlessly. "What makes you think I wouldn't be there with you?"

"Because you're a better person than I am."  Clark never believes her when she says that, but it's true.  Clark is a fundamentally good person.  Lois tries to be a good person, but there's a reason she's not a superhero.

Kon intended to stop by Metropolis several days ago.  Or at least call Clark back.  But he’d gotten sidetracked by an earthquake in Southeast Asia, and then by Dr Light causing problems in California.  

He gets a few hours of sleep back in Smallville, then remembers that he’d planned on dropping by Metropolis and meeting Danny days before.  He walks the last few blocks to Lois and Clark’s house— flying would be way too noticeable in their neighborhood— and lets himself in.  He walks up to the living room and spots Lois there, furiously typing on her laptop.  

Kon is man enough to admit, at least within his own head, that Lois kind of intimidates him. Sure, Clark is physically stronger, but there’s an intensity to Lois that Clark lacks.  She glances up at Kon, and even though she’s smiling, he still feels pinned under her gaze.  

Kon shifts uncomfortably, reminds himself that unless he turns into a corrupt businessman or something, he’s not actually in danger from Lois Lane.  

“You here to see Danny?” she asks.

“Yeah.”  Kon shoves his hands in his jacket pockets.  “I figured I should probably meet him.”

“He’s in his room,” Lois says.  “He’s not… It’s not a good day, but maybe he’ll talk to you.  He hasn’t exactly gotten the chance to be around anyone his own age since he showed up.”

Kon knocks on the door to Danny’s room.  

“Come in,” a voice calls from inside.

Kon’s first thought is that he looks more like Clark than Danny does.  Stupid; of course he does.  He’s Clark’s clone.  But then, Jon resembles Clark almost as strongly as Kon does, so maybe it wasn’t a completely stupid thought.

Danny is sprawled on his stomach across his bed, phone in his hand.  There’s a video playing on it— someone talking about the history of the Justice League— but he’s ignoring it, watching Kon with a wary expression.  The room is still as bland as it ever was; other than the clothes tossed haphazardly on the floor, there’s no sign a teenage boy lives here.

“I’m guessing you’re Kon?” 

“That’s me.”  They stare at each other awkwardly for a moment.  

“Have you actually seen any of Metropolis, or have you just been hanging out in here?” Kon asks.

“Lois took me shopping for some stuff,” Danny says.

“Okay, no,” Kon says.  “You have got to get out of this house.”  

“You don’t even live in Metropolis,” Danny says.  

Kon shrugs. “Doesn’t matter; I’ve spent more time here than you.” There’s an old-school arcade he’s been to a handful of times, and a couple of places to eat.  Anything has got to be better than Danny hanging out and brooding in this sad bedroom by himself.

It's a warm day outside.  The sun shines down on the two of them as they walk in near-silence toward downtown.  The awkward silence doesn't quite break until they're at the arcade, competing on an old racing game.  

"I don't think we have this one in my dimension.  The other dimension.  Whatever."  Danny says.

"Yeah?"  Kon speeds ahead of Danny in the game, just in time to cross the finish line.  Danny groans.

"Yeah, but this world doesn't seem to have Doomed, either," Danny says as they start another race.  "There's a lot of little differences like that."

"That's gotta be weird," Kon says.  

"Yeah, Clark kind of freaked out when I told him the sun there was red."

Yeah, Kon can see why.  They talk more as they play more video games, and Danny tells Kon about his friends and what they'd do when they were hanging out in his hometown of Amity Park.  The main people he talks about are his best friends, Sam and Tucker, and his older sister, Jazz, but he mentions a few others.  

"Wait, who is Ellie again?" Kon asks, after Danny shares a story about a prank she pulled on another kid at Danny's school.  They've left the arcade, and are hanging out at the diner a few blocks away.  It's not the coolest place-- in fact, it looks like a grandmother decorated it-- but Clark introduced Kon to it, and it has great food.

"Oh, I didn't tell you?" Danny asks.  "She's my clone."

Kon chokes a little on his soda.  "You have a clone?"

Danny is probably being paranoid.

Scratch that, he's definitely being paranoid. Lois and Clark have been nothing but nice, and they're clearly used to weird things happening. Like, even aside from the whole alien superhero thing, Lois just saw a kid fall out of a portal and decided to help?  Plus, Clark is an actual superhero.  

Even his— the Fentons came around on the whole “ghost powers” thing.  Eventually.  But he’s gotten used to hiding, to trying to blend in.  

(And what had them accepting him done for them in the end?  They’re dead, the GIW killed them.)

He’d rather hide than suddenly discover that Lois and Clark aren’t cool with their long-lost son being half dead.

Some of his powers he can pass off as Kryptonian— super strength, flight, enhanced senses.  He knows Lois saw his ghost form, and though she hasn’t asked about it, he’s pretty sure it’s just a matter of time.  

These thoughts circle through his mind over and over, only leaving him temporarily when he’s hanging out with the Lane-Kents.  

His bio family.  

That’s not much better, though; there’s a sadness in Lois and Clark’s eyes whenever they look at him, although they try to hide it.  Jon just a kid, and clearly doesn’t know what to make of the whole situation.  Lois keeps saying they are going to introduce him to more people, especially people his own age, but Danny shies away from that.  He doesn’t want to meet more people.  He doesn’t want to get comfortable here.

Still, he’s glad he came out with Kon.  An afternoon of videogames and greasy food hasn’t solved any of his problems, but it’s a nice break, and Kon has already promised to introduce Danny to his friends— a whole team of teenage superheroes.

“I can’t get over how many heroes there are here,” Danny says.  “Like, why do you even need that many?”  Sure, it would have been nice to have some more backup when he was Phantom, but in this world there seems to be at least one superhero for every major city, plus some extra.

Kon shrugs. “Natural disasters, alien invasions, supervillains, street crime… No one can handle all of it.”

Out of all the things he’s encountered so far in this dimension, this might be Danny’s favorite.  Even more than the proven existence of aliens.  Back home, Amity Park needed Phantom, even if they hated him.  But the world here doesn’t need Phantom.  

It’s kind of freeing, and Danny hates it.  He doesn’t want to like anything about this dimension more than his own.  

Would it really be that bad?  You might be stuck here forever, a little voice inside his head whispers.  

He ignores it.
