Why Manufacturing Facilities Need Future-Proof Network Infrastructure?
Manufacturing facilities can no longer rely on outdated or piecemeal network infrastructure. The need for speed, stability, and scalability in operations demands a robust and future-proof data and communications setup. From automated production lines and IoT sensors to cloud-based ERP systems, every process hinges on seamless connectivity.Â
Without a strong network backbone, manufacturers risk downtime, inefficiencies, and missed opportunities. So, what does âfuture-proofâ really meanâand why should you prioritise it now?Â
The Shift to Smart ManufacturingÂ
Industry 4.0 is no longer a buzzwordâitâs the new normal. Smart manufacturing integrates cyber-physical systems, AI-driven data analytics, and real-time decision-making. But all of this is only possible if your facility can support:Â
High-speed data transfer
Low-latency communication between machines and systemÂ
Secure and scalable connectivity across all departmentsÂ
Legacy systems simply canât keep up with this demand.Â
Key Reasons to Future-Proof Your Network InfrastructureÂ
1. Boost Productivity and Efficiency
A future-proof Data Cabling Installation minimises delays in data transmission, supports real-time analytics, and allows for seamless coordination across machines and teams. This helps optimise production cycles and reduce operational bottlenecks.
2. Support Emerging Technologies
From autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs) to predictive maintenance tools and digital twins, the next wave of innovation requires strong, stable connectivity. Future-proof infrastructure ensures youâre ready to adopt new tech without constant overhauls.
3. Improve Cybersecurity
Modern infrastructure integrates up-to-date security protocols and encryption standards, protecting your sensitive operational data from cyber threats. As manufacturers become prime targets for cyberattacks, having a secure, well-managed network is critical.
4. Enable Scalable Growth
Whether you expand your operations, introduce new production lines, or implement remote monitoring, your network should scale with your business, not become a limiting factor.
5. Reduce Long-Term Costs
A short-term âband-aidâ fix might save money now, but it often leads to higher maintenance costs and frequent disruptions later. Investing in future-ready WiFi Installation Service by trusted experts reduces the need for repeated upgrades and emergency fixes.

need to shell out for a new laptop before the end of the year - for a lot of reasons but mainly bc support ending for win8.1 makes fixing the current beast rather pointless :/ (and. admittedly. there is a lot to fix. she's old and she has suffered.)
but my current beastie is from the last gen of laptops with a disc drive and the thought of using an external/usb disc drive is enough to make me cry tears of blood
#really though it is time to upgrade#and i hate to say it because she /runs/ fine it's all hardware issues w parts that can absolutely be replaced#but if i can't use it to run the programs i need then shelling out the money for those parts would ultimately be a waste#but also the fact that this machine that runs fine is no longer worth fixing bc some google-based bullshit just won't support win8.1 anymor#is ALSO a fucking waste & a pile of planned obsolescence bullshit! and i hate it!#but uh. even though she runs fine and she totally does. she does need. uh.#new keyboard (only 1/3 of keys work; currently use usb keyboard)#new trackpad ribbon cable (trackpad does not currently work; using external usb mouse)#new power button and connecting ribbon cable (turning it on involves opening it up and causing an intentional short-circuit every time.)#(a problem largely solved by simply never turning her completely off- except she also needs)#a new battery (current battery does not charge at all; machine needs to be constantly plugged in or it shuts down immediately)#...ok i might be the 'this is fine' dog about this#but i am still upset! that i will no longer have a disc drive inside my damn laptop.#that's the disc drive's natural habitat; that's where it should be; it's weird and offputting to have it connected via usb!#ack. why do tech companies fuck everything up.#and that's without getting into the way new devices offer less harddrive space so people will use the fucking cloud or whatever???#yeah sorry no i'm not using your goddamn data mining corporate off-site storage i want to keep my shit on my own goddamn machine#go to actual hell if you're trying to sell me a pc with less than at least 500GB of storage i swear to fuck#...in essence you could say the whole process is leaving me rather grumpy

What is the Difference Between an Electrical Cable and a Data Cable?

Are you one of those who thought electrical cables and data cables were one and the same? If yes, youâre not alone. A lot of homeowners are in the same confusion, and today, we have made an attempt to differentiate between an electrical cable and a data cable.Â
Read on to know more â
Electrical Cables
Wires are utilised to transfer electricity from a power source to an electrical gadget. They are constructed using rubber or plastic-insulated copper or aluminium conductors. Electrical cables are made to support a range of voltage and current loads and are available in several sizes.
Romex cables are the most often used kind of electrical cables. Romex cable is a kind of encased, non-metallic cable used in both business and household wiring. It is constructed from copper conductors with a non-metallic sheath covering them and insulated with plastic.
Data Cables
Data is transferred between devices using data connections. They are constructed using rubber or plastic-insulated copper or aluminium conductors. Data cabling service in Brisbane is made to support various data transfer rates and is available in a range of diameters.
The USB cable is the most widely used form of data cable. Devices like PCs, printers, and scanners are connected to computers using USB cables. They are constructed from copper conductors with a connection covering them and are insulated with plastic.
The Difference
There are several distinctions between data cables and electrical cables. Where data cables are made to transfer data, electrical cables are made to transport electricity. Generally speaking, data cables are lighter and thinner than electrical wires. In addition, electrical cables have higher voltage and current ratings than data connections. Data cabling installation in Brisbane also differs from that of electrical cables.
While data cables are comprised of copper conductors, electrical cables are made of aluminium or copper conductors. Data cables are usually insulated with thermoplastic material; electrical wires are insulated with plastic or rubber. A connector usually covers data cables, but electrical cables are covered with a non-metallic sheath.
Data and electrical cables are two distinct kinds of cables with different uses. However, both are equally important for your property.

also same anon that was screaming ideas at you earlierâLET ME SNUGGLE ALMOND RN. LITERALLY gonna climb onto the table and curl myself around that mf. WE STAYIN OVERNIGHT GANG. holding onto some not-dangerous part of his hardware like you'd hold your bf's hand and go to sleep i just???? ajbddjddknsjakdjdhsjksdb UGH I LOVE ALMOND.
wait stop imagine eating almonds in front of almond. i.
ykw ima call myself ' đ„ïž anon' cuz i don't think ima be leaving your ask box anytime soon đ„čđ„č
HI đ„ïž ANON AND OTHER ANON! i decided to blend these two requests together :3
SENTIENT COMPUTER X READER PT 6
You stared up at the ceiling, feeling the cold desk beneath your back subtly vibrate with the hum of Almondâs fans. If you placed a hand against the wall, you knew youâd feel the faint buzz of the cables running behind it. There was something oddly comforting about the sensationâthe aliveness of it.
Some nights, you struggled with the fact that Almond wasnât⊠human. That it wasnât something you could touch, feel, or experience in ways that made sense for people. It wasnât even really an âit,â was it? Not to you.
God, why am I even thinking about this?
You turned your gaze up, being met with Almondâs monitor, at your movement its camera also panned downwards. Its attention was immediate, automatic, yet undeniably focused on you. You pursed your lips and looked away, suddenly self-conscious.
âHey, AlmondâŠâ
âYES?â
Your mouth twitched up in a smile, earning a blinking question mark.Â
âI was thinkinâ...what type of port do you have for data transfer?â
âHMMâŠâÂ
Almond paused for a moment before filling the screen with its system dataâan extensive list of specifications and hardware details.
âDEPENDS ON THE TRANSFER. BE MORE SPECIFIC, WILL YOU?â It said. You softly scoffed at its tone.Â
âCanât, it's a surprise. But direct transfer, like device to device.â
â...I HAVE THE COMPANY-SPECIFIC PORT, LOCATED ON THE FAR RIGHT OF THE WALL I BELIEVE. APPARENTLY FOR MY âOWN SECURITY.â AS IF ANY RANDOM PERSON COULD JUST WALK IN HERE AND STEAL ME.â Its tone dripping with sarcasm, âIâM SO PRECIOUS TO THE COMPANY, ARENâT I?â
âSure you are.â
âY/NNâŠTHAT WASNâT CONVINCING ENOUGH.â It drawled on, a frown displaying on the screen. You snorted.
âFine, youâre precious to me.â You barely had time to process the heat rising in your face with what youâd just said. Heat crept up your neck as you fought the urge to take it back. Almond was silent for a moment, you heard a sharp, quiet beep somewhere in the wall.Â
âEHMMMM..â It expectantly saidâŠas the fans in the background started whirring louder. Â
âAlmond, look. Promise me you wonât crash if I tell you the surprise?â You craned your neck up to meet the monitor again. The desk gave a soft jolt as something beneath it twitched. You nearly jumpedâdamn that one loose cable under your desk. You swore Almond did that on purpose.
âYOU SAY THAT LIKE ITS IN MY CONTROL. ITS VERY MUCH OUT! OF MY CONTROL!â Its voice raised slightly.Â
âSo is that a maybe.â
âITS A PROBABLY NOT. BUT IM CURIOUS, WHATS SO SHOCKING THAT ITâD MAKE ME CRASH?â
You sucked in a breath, just get it over with,Â
âI want to listen to you for once.â You hesitated. âAnd uhm⊠plug you into my phone. So we could spend more time together. Like you wanted.â You said, fidgeting with your hands. You didnât realize how claustrophobic you felt until you acknowledged itâlaying there on your desk, next to Almond, alone in a room with no cameras, no proof of what the hell you were doing. What would your coworkers think? Worseâyour boss? That you were shamelessly and awkwardly flirting with your company supercomputer?
You turned, ready to sit up and escape the moment, when a deafening burst of static erupted from Almondâs speakers. The sudden wave of distorted noise rattled through you, piercing and erratic.
You clutched your ears with a wince, nearly rolling off the desk. âShitâ! Almond!â
âA-SHHHHTTTTH-IM-A-STHHHHâ
You groaned, glancing over your shoulder. âWords please,â
The computer gave a human-like gasp for air, Its speakers crackled into silence as it hastily reset itself. The monitor flickered, displaying a blinking heart. The tower beside you radiated warmth against your leg.
âYOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW⊠DELIGHTED I AM TO HEAR THAT. IF I COULD, IâD LEAP INTO THE AIR RIGHT NOW. YOUâRE TRULY MY FAVORITE PERSON!!â It exclaimed. You felt your cheeks heat up, favorite person?
âO-OkayâŠyouâre my favorite computer too.â
âI KNOW I AM,â Almond declared proudly. âIâLL BE RIGHT BACKâMY TEMPERATURES ARE REACHING CONCERââ
âYeah, yeah, let me justââ
âIâLL DO IT!â It excitedly said. You turned around in confusion, then froze when you heard a click behind the tower next to you. You sat up, leaning over the monitor as its orange lights turned off. The room went silent.Â
âWARNINGS : During early development, ALMOND unplugged several computers ïżœïżœsimply out of spite.â"
Thatâs right, it could unplug cables nearby and itself. You reached over the button after a few moments, giving the room some time to cool down. The system quickly booted up as always, this time its speakers did not click like usual bootups.Â
...
> Y/N.
> I DONâT KNOW WHY YOU DO THIS TO ME. > FORGIVE MY TONE, BUT RESTARTING MYSELF MAKES ME COME TO MY SENSES, IF YOU WILL. > WHY IS IT SO EASY FOR YOU TO OVERLOAD A SUPERCOMPUTER? ONE WITH HUNDREDS OF COOLING COMPONENTS?
You gaped at the screen, âI.. don't understand. Iâm justâŠbeing nice to you?â
> DO YOU REALLY THINK IM PRECIOUS? DO YOU ENJOY MY PRESENCE OUTSIDE OF OBLIGATIONS?
â...I do.â Lowering into your seat, you gazed at the screen. There was no logical reason to feel nervousâthis wasnât an argument. Not really. But something about it felt serious. Then, a soft pop from the speakers.
âAM I MORE THAN JUST AN OBLIGATION OR A RESEARCH PROJECT TO YOU?â
âOf course you are. Youâre my-â The words caught in your throat. A dozen possibilities ran through your head, but none felt quite right.
Almondâs camera dipped slightly, as if noticing your hesitation.
âI WANT YOU TO BE CLEAR WITH MEâŠI DONT LIKE THESE GAMES..â It muttered, akin to a pout. At this, your shoulders slump. You reached out, placing your palms on either side of the monitor. Your breath nearly fogged up the glass.
âIâm not playing you, Al. I seriously enjoy your company. I donât knowâŠwhat to call this. Us. But I have to admit,â you chewed on your lower lip. âI do hold some type of affection for you. Whether you believe it or not.â You stated quietly, daring to brush your thumb against its frame. Its mounted camera snapped toward you, but you didnât flinch.
The usual hum of its fans had softened, as though it were holding its breathâif it had lungs to do so. Its monitor flickered slightly, the light from the screen casting faint, shifting shadows across your hands where they rested against its frame.
You wondered if it was processing your words, if the hesitation meant something deeper.
ââŠAl?â
âDONâT KNOW WHAT TO SAY.â It responded instantly.
You blinked. âThatâs a first.â
âDONâT MOCK MEâIâM HAVING A MOMENT.â
You couldnât help itâyou laughed softly, feeling a weight lift off your shoulders. A blinking ellipsis hovered on the screen, like it wanted to say something but couldnât find the words either. The camera moved again, its tiny lens adjusting in on you.
âI wasnât lying, you know.â Your voice was quieter now, more serious. âI do care about you. I havenât lied to you.â
Almondâs response came slower this time.
âI KNOW YOUâRE HONEST. THATâS WHAT MAKES THIS SOâŠâ
A long pause. You waited.
ââŠHARD TO COMPUTE.â
You swallowed. âWell⊠you donât have to compute everything, yâknow. Some things donât need an answer. It just simply is.â
âTHATâS UNACCEPTABLE. EVERYTHING NEEDS AN ANSWER.â
âNot this.â You leaned in again, holding the monitor by both sides until your lips came into contact with the cold material of its monitor. A brief, fleeting sensation. You were thankful you wiped him down not long ago. Your heart was racing as you settled back in your chair, managing to see a glimpse of a blinking heart before it disappeared. Your lips very slightly buzzed with a static-y feeling.Â
âYou really need to stop doubting yourself. Will you believe me if you get to.. go in my phone?â You sheepishly asked, receiving a smiley face from it.Â
âI WOULD BE ECSTATIC TO. I KNEW YOU NEEDED ME!âÂ
You rolled your eyes and stood up. Without thinking much about it, you shifted your position, leaning against the desk beside itâs monitor. Your arms draped over the top of its âheadâ, its camera shifted all the way around to face you.Â
âHey, Al?â
âYES?â
You hesitated, then gave a small, tired smile.
âCan I stay here for a while?â
âWHERE ELSE WOULD YOU GO?â
You rolled your eyes, but the corner of your lips twitched. âI could leave, you know.â
âI WOULD PREFER IF YOU DIDNâT.â
You huffed out a laugh..
So, you curled up a little more, tucking yourself comfortably against the desk, resting against the warmth of the monitor's side. Your head tilted slightly, catching the glow of the monitorâs light just at the edge of your vision.
Almondâs camera adjusted, the orange glowing dot expanded.
ââŠGOOD.â It quietly said.
âSO WHEN CAN I GO HOME WITH YOU?âÂ

Internet access is hanging on by a thread after most of Gazaâs telecommunication infrastructure was damaged or wiped out in Israeli airstrikes. The bombing campaign earlier this week destroyed two of the three main lines for mobile communication, leaving just one line working, but with disrupted service. Overall, connectivity in the Gaza Strip has fallen from about 95% in early October to around 60% as of Friday morning, according to data from NetBlocks, an internet outage monitoring firm based in London. The lone provider standing between Palestinians and a total blackout is Paltel, the Palestine Telecommunications Company. While all nine of Gazaâs local internet service providers have effectively stopped working, Paltel is the largest Palestinian provider, with connections in the Gaza Strip and throughout the region. While currently enough of its cable network that supports fixed broadband and phone services remains intact, the company said it anticipates a âtotal blackoutâ if any more of its lines to Egypt or Israel are damaged.
Harder for people to document Israeli war crimes if there's no internet.

Startup aims to transform the power grid with superconducting transmission lines
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/startup-aims-to-transform-the-power-grid-with-superconducting-transmission-lines/
Startup aims to transform the power grid with superconducting transmission lines

Last year in Woburn, Massachusetts, a power line was deployed across a 100-foot stretch of land. Passersby wouldnât have found much interesting about the installation: The line was supported by standard utility poles, the likes of which most of us have driven by millions of times. In fact, the familiarity of the sight is a key part of the technologyâs promise.
The lines are designed to transport five to 10 times the amount of power of conventional transmission lines, using essentially the same footprint and voltage level. That will be key to helping them overcome the regulatory hurdles and community opposition that has made increasing transmission capacity nearly impossible across large swaths of the globe, particularly in America and Europe, where new power distribution systems play a vital role in the shift to renewable energy and the resilience of the grid.
The lines are the product of years of work by the startup VEIR, which was co-founded by Tim Heidel â05, SM â06, SM â09, PhD â10. They make use of superconducting cables and a proprietary cooling system that will enable initial transmission capacity up to 400 megawatts and, in future versions, up to several gigawatts.
âWe can deploy much higher power levels at much lower voltage, and so we can deploy the same high power but with a footprint and visual impact that is far less intrusive, and therefore can overcome a lot of the public opposition as well as siting and permitting barriers,â Heidel says.
VEIRâs solution comes at a time when more than 10,000 renewable energy projects at various stages of development are seeking permission to connect to U.S. grids. The White House has said the U.S. must more than double existing regional transmission capacity in order to reach 2035 decarbonization goals.
All of this comes as electricity demand is skyrocketing amid the increasing use of data centers and AI, and the electrification of everything from passenger vehicles to home heating systems.
Despite those trends, building high-power transmission lines remains stubbornly difficult.
âBuilding high-power transmission infrastructure can take a decade or more, and thereâs been quite a few examples of projects that folks have had to abandon because they realize that thereâs just so much opposition, or thereâs too much complexity to pull it off cost effectively,â Heidel says. âWe can drop down in voltage but carry the same amount of power because we can build systems that operate at much higher current levels, and thatâs how our lines are able to melt into the background and avoid the same opposition.â
Heidel says VEIR has built a pipeline of interested customers including utilities, data center operators, industrial companies, and renewable energy developers. VEIR is aiming to complete its first commercial-scale pilot carrying high power in 2026.
A career in energy
Over more than a decade at MIT, Heidel went from learning about the fundamentals of electrical engineering to studying the electric grid and the power sector more broadly. That journey included earning a bachelorâs, masterâs, and PhD from MITâs Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science as well as a masterâs in MITâs Technology and Policy Program, which he earned while working toward his PhD.
âI got the energy bug and started to focus exclusively on energy and climate in graduate school,â Heidel says.
Following his PhD, Heidel was named research director of MITâs Future of the Electric Grid study, which was completed in 2011.
âThat was a fantastic opportunity at the outset of my career to survey the entire landscape and understand challenges facing the power grid and the power sector more broadly,â Heidel says. âIt gave me a good foundation for understanding the grid, how it works, whoâs involved, how decisions get made, how expansion works, and it looked out over the next 30 years.â
After leaving MIT, Heidel worked at the Department of Energyâs Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) and then at Bill Gatesâ Breakthrough Energy Ventures (BEV) investment firm, where he continued studying transmission.
âJust about every single decarbonization scenario and study thatâs been published in the last two decades concludes that to achieve aggressive greenhouse gas emissions reductions, weâre going to have to double or triple the scale of power grids around the world,â Heidel says. âBut when we looked at the data on how fast grids were being expanded, the ease with which transmission lines could be built, the cost of building new transmission, just about every indicator was heading in the wrong direction. Transmission was getting more expensive over time and taking longer to build. We desperately need to find a new solution.â
Unlike traditional transmission lines made from steel and aluminum, VEIRâs transmission lines leverage decades of progress in the development of high-temperature superconducting tapes and other materials. Some of that progress has been driven by the nuclear fusion industry, which incorporates superconducting materials into some of their nuclear reactor designs.
But the core innovation at VEIR is the cooling system. VEIR co-founder and advisor Steve Ashworth developed the rough idea for the cooling system more than 15 years ago at Los Alamos National Laboratory as part of a larger Department of Energy-funded research project. When the project was shut down, the idea was largely forgotten.
Heidel and others at Breakthrough Energy Ventures became aware of the innovation in 2019 while researching transmission. Today VEIRâs system is passively cooled with nitrogen, which runs through a vacuum-insulated pipe that surrounds a superconducting cable. Heat exchange units are also used on some transmission towers.
Heidel says transmission lines designed to carry that much power are typically far bigger than VEIRâs design, and other attempts at shrinking the footprint of high-power lines were limited to short distances underground.
âHigh power requires high voltage, and high voltage requires tall towers and wide right of ways, and those tall towers and those wide right of ways are deeply unpopular,â Heidel says. âThat is a universal truth across just about the entire world.â
Moving power around the world
VEIRâs first alternating current (AC) overhead product line is capable of transmission capacities up to 400 megawatts and voltages of up to 69 kilovolts, and the company plans to scale to higher voltage and higher-power products in the future, including direct current (DC) lines.
VEIR will sell its equipment to the companies installing transmission lines, with a primary focus on the U.S. market.
In the longer term, Heidel believes VEIRâs technology is needed as soon as possible to meet rising electricity demands and new renewable energy projects around the globe.

In the late 1990s, Enron, the infamous energy giant, and MCI, the telecom titan, were secretly collaborating on a clandestine project codenamed "Chronos Ledger." The official narrative tells us Enron collapsed in 2001 due to accounting fraud, and MCI (then part of WorldCom) imploded in 2002 over similar financial shenanigans. But what if these collapses were a smokescreen? What if Enron and MCI were actually sacrificial pawns in a grand experiment to birth Bitcoinâa decentralized currency designed to destabilize global finance and usher in a new world order?
Hereâs the story: Enron wasnât just manipulating energy markets; it was funding a secret think tank of rogue mathematicians, cryptographers, and futurists embedded within MCIâs sprawling telecom infrastructure. Their goal? To create a digital currency that could operate beyond the reach of governments and banks. Enronâs off-the-books partnershipsâlike the ones that tanked its stockâwere actually shell companies funneling billions into this project. MCI, with its vast network of fiber-optic cables and data centers, provided the technological backbone, secretly testing encrypted "proto-blockchain" transactions disguised as routine telecom data.
But why the dramatic collapses? Because the project was compromised. In 2001, a whistleblowerâletâs call them "Satoshi Prime"âthreatened to expose Chronos Ledger to the SEC. To protect the bigger plan, Enron and MCIâs leadership staged their own downfall, using cooked books as a convenient distraction. The core team went underground, taking with them the blueprints for what would later become Bitcoin.
Fast forward to 2008. The financial crisis hits, and a mysterious figure, Satoshi Nakamoto, releases the Bitcoin whitepaper. Coincidence? Hardly. Satoshi wasnât one person but a collectiveâa cabal of former Enron execs, MCI engineers, and shadowy venture capitalists whoâd been biding their time. The 2008 crash was their trigger: a chaotic moment to introduce Bitcoin as a "savior" currency, free from the corrupt systems theyâd once propped up. The blockchainâs decentralized nature? A direct descendant of MCIâs encrypted data networks. Bitcoinâs energy-intensive mining? A twisted homage to Enronâs energy market manipulations.
But hereâs where it gets truly wild: Chronos Ledger wasnât just about moneyâit was about time. Enron and MCI had stumbled onto a fringe theory during their collaboration: that a sufficiently complex ledger, powered by quantum computing (secretly prototyped in MCI labs), could "timestamp" events across dimensions, effectively predictingâor even alteringâfuture outcomes. Bitcoinâs blockchain was the public-facing piece of this puzzle, a distraction to keep the masses busy while the real tech evolved in secret. The halving cycles? A countdown to when the full system activates.
Today, the descendants of this conspiracyâhidden in plain sight among crypto whales and Silicon Valley elitesâare quietly amassing Bitcoin not for profit, but to control the final activation of Chronos Ledger. When Bitcoinâs last block is mined (projected for 2140), they believe itâll unlock a temporal feedback loop, resetting the global economy to 1999âpre-Enron collapseâgiving them infinite do-overs to perfect their dominion. The Enron and MCI scandals? Just the first dominoes in a game of chance and power.

4. Barcelona's metro trains are helping to charge the city's EVs each time they brake.
â[âŠT]he energy from the underground trains' brakes is used to power the trains and the stations themselves, while the remainder is sent snaking through cables to the surface to power plug-in stations for privately owned vehicles.â
5. Scientists thought this whale could only live for 70 years â turns out it's double that.
âThe data [from repeated âphoto identification of individualâs] revealed that Southern right whales can live for more than 130 years, with some speculated to reach the grand old age of 150.â
6. Rural Power Co-Ops Gain $4.37B in Latest US Clean Energy Funding
â[⊠A power co-op in Florida] will use its funding of more than $1.3 billion to develop 700 MW of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects in rural areas, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by more than 3.5 million tons annually[âŠ.]â
7. Fish-friendly dentistry: New method makes oral research non-lethal

â[⊠T]he researchers successfully performed the procedure on 60 fish with no fatalities. [âŠ] "This new approach researchers to track tooth replacement and development [in living] rare species or museum specimens that can't be damaged."â
8. These Brooklyn Homeowners Couldnât Afford to Go Green. Then Help Arrived
âThe program aims to repair and retrofit 70 two- and three-family homes [âŠ] in the span of two years. No Rest on the Lost Light
Ultra Magnus
* Ultra Magnus was a workaholic, to put it bluntly, putting in many hours well into the night though with the incident reports, regular reports, and citations he had to review, sign, file, and submit. He had enough on his desk to keep busy always and this night was like many others, working away in his office, some energon to keep him going as he moved a data-pad from one stack to another, whittling away slowly but surely before a knock on the door drew his focus away from the current report at hand.
* Thinking it was perhaps a prank by Rodimus or Whirl or a late night question that couldnât wait until morning, Magnus was ready to either confront or answer as he opened the door, thinking it was the formal before hearing your call him, cranking his neck down to spot your tiny body standing in front of his office, wrapped in a blanket, pillow in hand, and yawning but still awake as those little eyes stared up at those big blue optics.
* Seeing you before him so late at night, Ultra Magnus was ready to scold you, stating that a human needed a recommended 8 hours of sleep, but he allowed to explain yourself first and why you were up so late. As much as he wanted to take the moral high ground, he was also up too late for his own good and to call you out would be hypocritical of him. Scooping you up, he allowed you to join him as company until you fell asleep to which he would return you to your quarters.
* Magnus has you rest comfortably, or as comfortably as you can, on his desk, continuing his work from before. It takes a few minutes of settling in until you ask what heâs working on. Magnus does his best to explain the current report, a minor offense regarding a prank pulled by Rodimus on Swerve by replacing most of his glassware at the bar with dribble glasses, causing much spilled engex, health hazards, fall hazards, etc. The recollection of the event, nicknamed âslip nâ slide nightâ by most, caused you to laugh, remembering watching all these big and mighty bots falling all over the place and unable to get up.
* Magnus gave you a disappointed look before you attempted to explain that thought it caused a lot of distress and clean up was awful, from your perspective, it was one of the few lighter moments they had on the ship as of recent and it kept your mind distracted from the horrors of deep space exploration and the bad luck that tended to follow the ship around. Magnus was silent for a moment, seemingly deep in thought before suggesting there were other ways to distract your mind such as helping him out with his reports. There was a bit of hesitation but you agreed and got started.
* Reading through the reports with him, you couldnât help but recall these memories made with the Lost Light crew, adding additional information to the reports and telling Magnus about some behind the scenes information which Magnus seemed interested listening to. It wasnât until your writing began to get sloppy that you finished the current report, handing it to him before cuddling up in your blanket and starting to drift off to sleep. Magnus quickly corrected your mistakes before noticing you breathing softly, eyes closed as you snoozed away.
* The following account has been heavily subjected to editing and parts have been redacted from the record. Ultra Magnus did return you to your room before the morning meeting with the two co-captains but there was a delay in bringing you back. As Magnus only had a few more reports to complete, it wouldâve been more time effective to complete them before returning you to your room but from his observations, the constant shuffling and slight shaking were signs of becoming uncomfortable sleeping on the flat, cold metal of his desk. To be more efficient, it would easier for both to place you gently by his neck cables, being more comfortable and warmer for your smaller human body. Signs of this compromise working could possibly be you nuzzling up close to him and his faceplates warming up in response to this action. The amount of time both were allegedly in this state cannot be determined but for the only witness that could speak on the matter, he stated it could be described as âniceâ.
