Gloam's the third-strongest Trainer in Shukukou's realm, right behind Red and Cynthia. The main reason for this is that before anything else, she drills movement habits into any new team members, a process which takes a very long time to do correctly without causing undue strain, but it has numerous benefits. From preventing long-term injuries to helping them conserve their energy in prolonged battles to even allowing them to effortlessly dodge attacks, or, failing that, taking the least amount of damage possible, it's often noted that her Pokémon are often compared to dancers or soldiers, and the former isn't even all that inaccurate, either. Dance, particularly from a Contest choreography angle, is part of how she trained many of her older team members before she retired as a Coordinator.
It's also notable that this particular approach to training requires the Trainer to be knowledgeable in Pokémon kinesiology to some degree, intuitively or otherwise, and due to the amount of time it takes to get the desired results, is wholly impractical for the majority of Trainers. Gloam has her ways of doing it, even with her massive roster, but the full extent of her secrets isn't something she readily gives out.
Notably, she's also discerning, but patient when training. She doesn't expect things to be learned quickly, and is willing to put in the time and effort to help her Pokémon adjust to new movement patterns and habits slowly over a long period of time, but at the same time, she's also able to notice small differences that can make a difference in the long run, and can point them out when needed.

Yuuzuki/Gloam was the former Fairy-type Gym Leader (and a Coordinator) for a League that went through a disastrous collapse shortly after she quit. She had... a very undeserved, polarizing reputation, and because of it, she rarely gave interviews or made public appearances outside her performances. In turn, her public persona was not one she crafted for herself, but one that was hoisted onto her - a haughty, cold, condescending, and conceited diva who obtained power through old money. The truth, of course, was that she refined her training process over many years since childhood and had little contact with her parents, meaning everything she did was of her own merit, and while she was more than a bit introverted, she was far more humble and down-to-earth than what people made her out to be, even if she's the type to hold high standards for herself and others. Her misconstrued image is still what most people remember of her to this day.
On the other hand, there's the part of her legacy that isn't connected to her public image - the notoriously mysterious figure of recent history, the 0th Champion of Alola. To this day, the public still theorizes and speculates on details pertaining to the 0th's identity, as all parties who know of the identity of the mysterious Champion refuse to give any concrete details. Stories about the 0th are often overblown or outright fabricated, seeing as there's no known identity, just that the 0th Champion was a young girl with black hair and an antisocial disposition with an almost terrifying level of competency when it came to battling. Conflicting testimonies of sightings and interactions further muddy the waters, making the 0th Champion an urban legend of sorts - everyone knows she exists, but anything beyond that is conjecture, and nobody can agree on what's right and what isn't.

//Reply or reblog this if your muse has some kind of title in the pokemon world (Gym leader, elite, champion, contest star, etc.)
Tell me how the media (including Social media) portrays them in universe. Do they embellish a lot? Do they welcome the attention and give interviews frequently? How different are they from their public persona?

Auspicious Cycle Part 1: Starting A New Game
One of the reasons for the slowdown in blogging stuff has been the number of things I’m doing that I don’t really blog about. One of those things is that I’m getting more into Tabletop RPG, especially running games. Recently I read and fell in lust for the new edition of Unknown Armies, a setting and system that runs on the tropes of Urban Fantasy & Horror, vast magics, personal relationships…

Hey there KOG! I have a question regarding Jonjon's MacBooks and storage. So I wonder if jonny buys his Maca with a ton of storage, or he uses an external hard drive and only puts the data for songs he needs during shows on the system itself. The reason I ask is, by my understanding, the old PowerBook G4's didnt come loaded with storage space (128gb max) and I was curious how jonny managed all that software and project files back then compared to now. Thanks!
Hello! Jonny used his 12" Apple PowerBook G4 from around 2003 to 2008. The 12" model was offered with a maximum of 100GB, assuming that Jonny didn’t swap in an alternative. The only application that we have any evidence of Jonny using on the 12" PowerBook was Max 4, specifically versions 4.1-4.6. Those applications were only about 20-40MB in size, including documentation (which is deep in Max’s case).
Tumblr media
Jonny’s 12″ PowerBook G4 during the 2008 tour. His “drum machine” Max patch is visible on its screen.
Jonny has repeatedly spoken about his preference to use Max for sound processing. All of the Max patches which he used on Hail To The Thief - the reverse guitar on Backdrifts, the stutter on Go To Sleep, and the full-band processing on The Gloaming - were live processing effects, meaning that they required no stored audio files. Even complex Max patches can take up less than a megabyte, so there’s little worry of filling a computer with those.
The looper patch which Thom controls (via footswitch) on Give Up The Ghost and the piano-filtering Max patches which Jonny uses on Codex and Glass Eyes are all live processing effects, while the complex MIDI-generating patch used on performances of True Love Waits is just a patcher file involving no audio at all (the MIDI is used to trigger the piano sound module on the Yamaha U1TA upright piano, which the band usually only uses as backup in case of any problems with the instrument).
Tumblr media
Jonny’s 17″ PowerBook G4 during the recording of The King of Limbs – From The Basement. The Max window visible on the screen is Jonny’s fairly simple piano-filtering patch for Codex.
Jonny did incorporate some pre-recorded sampling into his Max patches in order to build a drum machine for the “wonky rhythm experiment” 15 Step (the Max drum machine is also used on performances of Videotape). Based on images of the drum machine, Jonny used short recordings of individual percussion hits (far less than a second in length), each of which takes up an extremely small amount of space even at high quality.
Tumblr media
A section of the Max 7 update to the “drum machine” patch which Jonny built in 2016.
Additionally, the 11" PowerBook G4 was by no means Jonny’s only computer at the time. Rather, it was just a compact machine used to integrate Max processing into his setup. Many pictures from the recording of In Rainbows show Jonny with his own personal PowerBook G4. Projects invoking larger audio files, such as beat managing, were often created collaboratively and so likely done on one of the band’s more powerful desktop computers. This is probably why he used a 17" PowerBook G4 2011, despite the age of the machine: it was still totally adequate for his Max-related needs.
Tumblr media
A silly photo of Nigel in studio during the recording of In Rainbows, with several desktop computers behind him.
Jonny doubtless had many more samples and patcher files on his “12 PowerBook than we’ve ever heard, but a single computer dedicated to his particular style of using Max would almost certainly have a good deal of space free.

Recorded between Dublin and New York as part of an ongoing collaboration, the track was produced by The Gloaming’s Thomas Bartlett,

Beer Cafe Hopman: The Bottom Line
I wasn’t made to feel particularly welcome at Beer Cafe Hopman, and the decor design was dull as dirty dishwater, so it’s a good job there’s a huge menu to bury your head in. If you’re expecting friendly chat with the locals or staff, though, or an atmosphere more habitable than Venus, or, y’know, fun, then go to Gold’n Bub. But if you’re not averse to silent contemplation of a rare beer in a bar that looks like a dining room showroom, then Beer Cafe Hopman is for you.
Beer Cafe Hopman: The Review
Beer Cafe Hopman is in Chigasaki, Kanagawa, a five-minute trot from the north exit of Chigasaki station. It’s pretty well concealed up a flight of stairs, and the owners also run a yakitori restaurant on the ground (or first) floor of the building. They’ve been open since 2010, and their main draw is a tap list that could rival a bar in central Tokyo- anywhere from 25 to 40 beers are on tap, with three hand pumps. How they stay open is anyone’s guess. They’re open from 3pm until late (either 1am or 3am, depending on where you look), and are open every day. Smoking is allowed in the bar though it is segregated.
The second location in our three-bar Chigasaki mini crawl, we were in high spirits after several forearm-sized glasses of imperial stout at the rowdy beer hall of Mokichi Foods Garden. I’d been to Hopman once before but wasn’t into craft beer so much at the time and hadnt been back since starting BeerTengoku. I’ve been avidly following their blog, however, and their daily blog posts on the updated tap lists are mind-boggling. But we’ll get to that later.
It was about 3pm on a Saturday when we arrived at the bar and they seemed to be just opening up, although there were already a couple of punters skulking at the counter. There is counter seating for about fifteen and tables for about twenty people. The decor is all white leather and black wood, which I thought was a bit soulless, especially coming from the rustic charm of Mokichi Foods Garden and then going on to the steampunk aesthetic of Gold’n Bub. They could have done a lot more with the place, is what I’m saying. Maybe they put so much thought into maintaining their colossal tap list that they couldn’t be bothered with how the bar looked. I dunno. But take away the craft beer and this could be any page in Interior Design Basics magazine. It’s like if Ikea designed a bar.
It began to fill up as the gloaming approached (always wanted to use that word), but remained pretty quiet and sedate. I suppose it would be a good place to go and sit by yourself, grumpily drinking and writing up beer reviews; yet again, the difference between here and the other places we visited in Chigasaki is plain.
The staff weren’t particularly talkative, and the strange way the bar is constructed means that they are standing over you with the tops of their heads concealed. It reminded me of a ramen restaurant. We got the menu and ordered after reattaching our jaws- Rob had never been here before, and was amazed at what was on tap; I had just swallowed a whole goat I had crushed to death beforehand.
Imagine Rob trying to choose from 10 let alone 30+.
Just choose a beer already Rob.
Shiga Kogen W-IBA Masaji the Great https://goo.gl/dmLZYQ
Ushitora #134 Suppai ha Seikou no Moto
Shiga Kogen IBrA https://goo.gl/nkrmcB
Literally every type of beer is on tap here. And I mean literally in the figurative sense. Now, as craft beer drinkers, we have a huge variety to choose from compared to the average Johnny Asahi who thinks that Premium Malts is the height of sophistication and feels a perverse emasculating thrill whenever he drinks a sakura-pink can of Super Dry for cherry blossom viewing season. But even amongst us Enlightened Ones, we are still shackled by what the bars think will sell the best. IPAs, porters and lagers aplenty, basically.
Not Beer Cafe Hopman, though. The encyclopedia zymurgica we were handed had a few beers in almost every style we could think of. An example: Rob has a personal mission to drink every one of the yearly Masaji beers, a collaborative effort amongst several breweries that produces about 10 different beers a year. Hopman had one! Another example: I love sour beers, but they don’t agree with me. While I can’t drink saisons, I recently discovered I can tolerate gose beers no problem. Guess what? Hopman had three! We had a lot of fun choosing from the menu, but the staff weren’t very forthcoming in advice. It’s not as if they were busy, either. Is it just not a “talking”-type place? You’d expect a bar with 40 bloody taps to be a bit more rowdy.
Pickles…
And of course Rob’s expected order of “chips”.
We were so busy with the menu that I honestly don’t remember if we got any food, and we had already eaten anyway. Besides, if you’re coming here, it’s not for the food. Be honest. Know that food is available, though. Proper, cooked food. So many places Rob reviews can barely be bothered to heat up a dustbin lid full of chips under a greasy light bulb. Shonan bars are more well-rounded, in my experience.
We went to Gold’n Bub after a few hours, and it was such a breath of fresh air to feel welcomed into a bar, and to drink in a bar that looks like it was designed with craft beer as a central theme. For craft beer fans in the area, Beer Cafe Hopman can only be recommended for its menu. Follow the blog, and if a beer you want to try crops up, then go. But if you’re looking for somewhere friendly, welcoming and lively, hit up either Mokichi Foods Garden or Gold’n Bub.

How to Get to Beer Cafe Hopman
The closest station to Beer Cafe Hopman is JR Chigasaki that is located on the Tokaido Line and also the Sagami line, though that is a local country line through the countryside with one or two trains an hour. It’s about a ten minute walk from the north exit.
Spoilt for choice and bored to tears at Beer Cafe Hopman in Chigasaki, Kanagawa #craftbeer #beer #japan Beer Cafe Hopman: The Bottom Line I wasn't made to feel particularly welcome at Beer Cafe Hopman, and the decor design was dull as dirty dishwater, so it's a good job there's a huge menu to bury your head in.

5 new ways to look at (and cook) root vegetables
5 new ways to look at (and cook) root vegetables
In the gloaming of a late-summer day, we lost power. It doesn’t happen often so I was a bit shocked when I opened the fridge for a cold one and it was dark inside. And the house, in the half-light, without the sounds of things that need electricity to function, was quite suddenly quiet. While I was confident that it was a temporary thing, the dark fridge immediately made me think about food…

Most of the Proxies can play at least one instrument, which is part of why the Hall of Origin’s Concert Hall was made. Many of them can play multiple.
Gloam is especially notable because her harsh childhood required her to be proficient in multiple instruments. Piano and violin are the ones she started with, but as of current, she plays basically any key-based instrument, including the accordion, a little bit of koto and shamisen, any string instrument that uses a bow, the harp, and so forth. If you include the list of things she can play remotely via Psychic, that list grows longer.
Surprisingly, she struggles with the guitar, but she is stubborn in getting it right because she knows her father hates the instrument. Another instrument she wants to learn is the erhu. She fell in love with it on the first listen, and while she knows someone who can teach her, she hasn’t gotten around to it yet.
As for the other Proxies, Peacekeeper is unsurprisingly good at any instrument frequently used in rock, Sorceress and Wayfarer, due to where they were born and raised, can play the accordion as well as piano and violin, and the piano, clarinet, flute, and bagpipes respectively. Buddy can play piano and guitar (regular and bass,) and Blood Tansy, while unsurprisingly good at the guitar, is also notable for being really, really good on the saxophone. Commander is notable for not knowing how to play any instrument at all.

Patron Saint of Martyrs

The patron saint of those who died to be like you. Maybe you died to be like them too: but at the end of it, you weren't like them. Patron saint of tragedy. Saint of saints. It's you who holds the hands of the holy dead, and you who has to answer: what do they do if they regretted it?

Yuuzuki: Zoroark (US): It doesn't just transform itself—it also has the power to make hundreds of people see its illusions. Primarina (Sword): With its mouth, it makes sonic waves that sound like beautiful singing. It uses the sonic waves to control its water balloons. Volcarona (Scarlet): Its burning body causes it to be unpopular in hot parts of the world, but in cold ones, Volcarona is revered as an embodiment of the sun. Lurantis (UM): As it slashes into its enemies, it looks like it's dancing. Its elegant appearance has led some to call it the most glamorous Grass Pokémon. Ceruledge (Violet:) An old set of armor steeped in grudges caused this Pokémon's evolution. Ceruledge cuts its enemies to pieces without mercy.

Tomohiko: Zebstrika (Violet): Once the herd hears thunder, it chases after the storm clouds so that the Blitzle in the group can use the lightning to charge up. Gholdengo (Scarlet): Its body seems to be made up of 1,000 coins. This Pokémon gets along well with others and is quick to make friends with anybody. Magnezone (Platinum): A group tried to use scientific means to make Magnezone evolve, but their efforts ended in failure. Talonflame (Moon): It zooms directly at its prey at flight speeds of close to 310 mph, while fiery embers scatter from gaps in its feathers. Sigilyph (Sword): Psychic power allows these Pokémon to fly. Some say they were the guardians of an ancient city. Others say they were the guardians' emissaries. Araquanid (Scarlet): A caring Pokémon, Araquanid carries Dewpider around inside its water bubble to protect them as it walks. It protects its food in its bubble too.
