dude i can't believe i just heard with my own two ears that they really said outright that they're giving bullseye a "redemption-ish" arc in direct relation to a question partially about the dynamic between matt and bullseye next season.
idk what the 'ish' part means here but it doesn't even really matter.
that's genuinely the dumbest thing i've heard confirmed about this season so far. unless the "redemption-ish" arc involves bullseye being directly involved in foggy coming back from the dead, they're out of their fucking minds if matt has literally anything to do with that.
i already knew this team has no concept of who these characters are because it's abundantly clear in how they fucked up characterization all around. and this was already speculation people had, so i've been annoyed about the possibility since that started, but knowing it's confirmed now.. just wild.
you can't redeem killing foggy nelson in dd? what the fuck?

I keep alternating between long haired Eris and short haired Eris and I can’t make up my mind so whatever option wins is what I’ll keep drawing from now on

One of my biggest issues with The Bad Batch s3 was how despite the season’s supposed main theme being about redemption arcs and 2nd chances, the show refuses to acknowledge the Commandos or even the clone assassins as victims of the Empire, and instead they’re treated arguably even worse than stormtroopers.
The season would rather have characters like Rampart look sympathetic before the commandos or CXs could get any kind of pity from our main cast.
The only character who showed even an ounce of sympathy for the CXs was Rex.
"You’re still one of us. You’re still our brother."
I thought this was foreshadowing at least one CX getting saved and rehabilitated. So then Rex’s efforts in "Infiltration" wouldn’t have gone to waste. But nope, the CXs’ only purpose was to be the cartoonishly evil versions of the Bad Batch (seriously though, the idea of Hemlock creating the Evil Batch just makes me take him less seriously as a villain).
Only one commando was given some sort of redemption arc, but that was only because Wolffe commanded him not to do anything to Rex or his clone network. And then we never see him or Wolffe again.

In thinking retrospectively about Dragon Age as a series, there's part of me that thinks that the ultimate downfall of the series actually began with Dragon Age 2. And I say this as a person whose favourite game in the series is DA2. DA2 was originally supposed to be an Origins DLC, not sure whether at Awakening scale or Witch Hunt, but still a DLC. They originally intended to go straight into Inquisition from Origins, and it would have really been a very different series if they had, wouldn't it? Two apocalyptic epic fantasy games in a row would have set a very different tone, the tone I think they wanted to set. DA2 ultimately disrupted this, and I think caused expectations to be in a very different place than was intended by the writers.

WHO is saying prose in tlt is too melodramatic?? It is the perfect amount of melodramatic for what’s happening bffr
I have seen people mock the style of the prose as too homestuck adjacent and clearly written by someone who also writes fic. First of all I'm like...if you hate those things so much, I've got bad news for you about 75% of the queer sff getting written these days! I think it's actually fair not to enjoy that style but I do also notice the lines people usually point to are either silly gideon navisms which you either find endearing or you don't but they're clearly a character choice, not a feature of the basic narration of the series. OR they're melodramatic lines spoken by necromancers and cavaliers about each other which I think sometimes people mistake as the author trying to be straightforwardly romantic versus portraying the dramatic emotions of these young queer people who are genuinely not okay + the ways their society is set up to require this kind of over the top devotion from them. Tazmuir does have fun with the drama and I love that about her writing but it's a more thoughtful choice than it might appear at first glance, imo

no eyed girl (lemon demon) kagurin?
was thinking about shippuden endings 28 & 29 where rin's eyes are always out of frame... like this is the KakaObi Eyeball Show, rin is here to just look pretty and smile. but the no eyed girl song it at first reminded me of? uh oh. mythical alien woman of blinding light? and much more :3
no that's so real kagurin really is everywhere. part of the appeal of kagurin to me is that like,,, rin isn't exactly in love with kaguya. the person. yaknow? like the fact that she's moon/alien/goddess/unknowable/inhuman is the *appeal* to rin. and everything about no eyed girl really captures that.
no but the eds being the best part of shippuden holds so true in regards to rin. i need to look at obikaka eye framing as opposed to the stuff going on with rin because i DO think it's really important that her eyes are always disappearing in her most honest moments. and theirs are always visible.

At the bus stop one time there was a gaggle of preschoolers waiting to catch the bus for a field trip day, and someone walked past with a couple of friendly little dogs, to great general delight.
But after a little bit, the dogs were getting overwhelmed, and the preschoolers were gently coaxed to back off so the person with the dogs could continue on. Specifically, one of the preschool teachers said, "Sometimes, when you're small, being surrounded by big people can be a bit scary and overwhelming. Even if they are friendly."
This was recieved as great wisdom: after all, the preschoolers were also small, and understood how scary and overwhelming big people could be! And the dogs were indeed even smaller than the preschoolers, so it made sense.
What was funny and charming was that, upon absorbing and reflecting on this wisdom, they all felt the need to tell it to one another. In tones of great insight, they turned to one another and said, "Did you know? Sometimes when you are small, being surrounded by big people can be scary and overwhelming! Even if they are friendly!" Back and forth, without any particular concern that they were all saying the same thing. Have reached comprehension of an insight, it must be shared!
I must say that this behavior is less charming in tumblr users than in preschoolers. Not least because tumblr users, having gained a little analytical skill to misuse, insist on Summarizing and Generalizing and Unifying the insights they repeat, quickly turning any interesting new information into formulaic dogmatic mush.
#i made the mistake of looking in the notes of the beach sand post i reblogged to see if anyone else had interesting comments#And the rate at which it went from like#1) person states with moderate confidence an opinion based on their personal observations#2) multiple people reply with “wow thats so insightful!” (aka it aligns with my preconceived notions of how things work)#3) someone else adds additional personal observations which are not really relevant but which can be absorbed into the narrative#4) people start outright stating the underlying belief on which this bias is constructed as if it were a fresh insight#5) general derisive attitude towards people who haven't seen the Obviously Correct solution to this complex real world problem yet#It's very.......#It's not like it's a high stakes post but it's such a microcosm of the whole dogmatic phenomenon#Also this js a more specific gripe to My Field or w/e#But the degree to which people react to the problems caused by the whole “Control of Nature” era of engineering#with this equally reductive “Nature will Fix Everything” type of attitude#Is sooooo frustrating.#Yes a great many of our current problems could have been avoided if we had not made massive changes to ecosystem processes on the assumptio#That they were simple and we understood them. And that they would respond in predictable ways.#the simplicity in retrospect of “wow we Should Not have done that” does not mean that they are simple to undo!#You can't go back in time. You can't turn back the clock on chaotic processes#Which is. Almost every process ever.#Restoration is hard! Returning to previous regimes of sediment or flooding or fire is tricky and full of foibles!#Moving towards a future which doesn't suck as much even if the past cant be recreated is also uncertain and difficult!#It's frustrating to see people act all high and mighty about how they Respect Nature unlike whoever is making all these decisions#When their understanding of the natural processes in question is AS simplistic as the people who caused the whole mess back in 1910 or w/e#Like I'm not saying there's not bad interests standing in the way of functional restoration on all levels#That's very much a fight to be fought.#But looking at that fight-in-process and saying “wow none of you Respect Nature like me uwu let nature fix it”#Is.#Ugh.

Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: A Process-Driven Approach to Mastery
Since when I was a kid, think 5 years old, I discovered that I excelled in both problem-solving and decision-making. Later in life, I became aware that they also are fundamental to our human experience, shaping our lives, careers, and relationships. Photo by Andrea Piacquadio on Pexels.com They are often seen as skills one either possesses or lacks. However, a process-driven perspective reveals…

i watched the phantom menace again tonight and i HAVE to say
that foley artist carried that film. idk how they did it but the droid footsteps with the like plastic-with-weight-and-hydraulics sound?? the footsteps in general?? the general way all of the foley worked together to give real impact was just. outstanding. every time i watch im like YESSS THE DROID! FOOTSTEPS!!!!!!! so good
the entire film could have been narratively so engaging if theyd chosen to make qui gon the main character and have his "i truly believe in this kid" attitude seem like the light fighting the dark throughout the film, he would be the truest anti-hero in that you watch it and youd love to believe hes a hero, but if you know what happens in the rest of the films, you know that nothing NOTHING would have happened without qui gon. he is the ultimate plot device. he is the deus ex machina to bring darth vader into being. it could have been an incredible angle to make the whole film so engaging and interesting to watch. and would have made qui gon so lovedhated. however.
its just not a good film. theres no narrative tension really, its just like point a to point b to point c to point d without very much emotion.
i love star wars if only it was good

Inquisitor: The Evanuris were elven mages? How did they come to be remembered as gods? Solas: Slowly. It started with a war. War breeds fear. Fear breeds a desire for simplicity. Good and evil. Right and wrong. Chains of command. After the war ended, generals became respected elders, then kings, and finally gods. The Evanuris. Inquisitor: You said that the elven gods went too far. What did they do that made you move against them? Solas: They killed Mythal. (Chuckles.) A crime for which an eternity of torment is the only fitting punishment. Inquisitor: I thought Mythal was one of the Evanuris? Solas: She was the best of them. She cared for her people. She protected them. She was a voice of reason. And in their lust for power, they killed her.
You know, sometimes I wonder about him in regards to Mythal. Not only over how intensely he struck down those who slayed her (and the severe repercussions thereof, even if he didn't realize they'd occur as they did), but the sheer conviction he holds in regards to the future. He banished the Evanuris, and in doing so, single-handedly brought devastation to his people, and Mythal's, leaving their descendants scarred and 'weak', shadows of their former selves. But it's the 'and Mythal's' that gets me. He 'avenged' her and in turn, became the 'undoing' of the elven civilization she'd loved and protected above all?
Inquisitor: That's the past. What about the future? Solas: (...) My people fell for what I did to strike the Evanuris down, but still some hope remains for restoration. I will save the Elven people, even if it means this world must die.
